Interesting post over at Apartment Therapy today, illustrating how changing the shape, colour and style of shade can rejuvenate dated table lamps. As you can see, the new shade on the left looks much more modern than the 80's style pleated shade on the right and gives the added benefit of a more pleasing light spray. Here's a piece of contemporary lamp design that's both beautiful and clever. The Bloom lamp by Patrick Jouin for MGX, inverts the behaviour of nature's flowers by opening its petals to emit light rather than as a reaction to light. Its also a table lam p which would look great in modern or traditional homes. Apparently only 99 were made so good luck getting one!

There was a time (mid 90's) when Habitat was a watch word for boho style, with a fusion of contemporary artisanal products with more traditional, ethnic pieces.
