Allah subhanahu wa Ta ala says, Indeed Allah conferred a great favour on the beleivers when he sent among them a messenger Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) from among themselves (being human, people can easily benefit from his distinguished qualities) reciting unto them his verses (by means of these quranic verses inviting them and advising them) and purifiyng them (of sins and correcting their conduct) and teaches them the book (Quran) and al-Hikmah (his sunnah) before which they were manifest error. Surah Ala Imran 3:164

In the context ob the above verse, it is clear that Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was given the following Divine obligations of prophetgood ; invite towards Allah by reciting the verses of Quran to purify people's undeirable traits,and to teach them the book and Wisdom. (Sunnah)

(O Muslim) You are the best of the peoples, you have been sent towards mankind, to enjoin good and forbid evil. (Ale Imran 3:110) This verse clearly implies that the Muslim ummah is the deputy to the prophet, in his ordained obligations of inviting towards righteousness, enjoining good and forbidding evil. Hence, the obligations entrusted to Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam, invitation through recitation of the Quran, purifying people of undesirable qualities, and teaching the book and wisdom became the prime responsibilities of Muslim umma as well. Therefore Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam thaught his umma to spend their life and wealth in inviting towards Allah, learning and teaching Divine knowledge, remembering and worshiping Allah.

The sahabah gave preference to the above deeds over all worldly preoccupations. They were trained to practice these A;mal (actions) under all circumstances with complete dedication, patience, and forbearance, withstanding all forms of difficulties and hardships And they were taught to benefit others by sacrificing physically and materially.

In compliance with the command “And strive hard in Allah’s cause as you ought to strive”” (Al hajj 22; 78)

To correct one’s belief and deeds and for the correction of the belief and deeds of all mankind one must struggle to revive the effort of Da’wat in the way of Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam through out the world.

Allah Subhanhuwa Ta-ala says “He (Allah) is who has sent among the unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves, reciting to them His verses (that is by means of the Quran he invites them, advices them and prepares them to accept Islam) from the fifth of disbelief and polytheism and to cultivate excellence in conduct), and teaches them the book and wisdom. (Sunnah) And verily they were most obviously in error. (Al Jumu’ah 62;2)

Allah Subhanhuwa Ta-ala says “you are the best peoples ever raised up for mankind. You enjoin to good, and forbid evil, and you believe in Allah. (Ale Imran 3:110)

O’Muslims you are the best of all nations. In the knowledge of Allah this was destined for you from eternity. This knowledge had also been conveyed to some of the previous prophets. Just as Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam is the last and most distinguished of all prophets, so also his ummah will be the most distinguished ummah. (Tafseer Usmaani)

Allah Subhanhuwa Ta-ala says “Those who believed and left their homes, and strove for the cause of Allah and those who gave them shelter, and helped them; these are the believers in truth. For them is forgiveness, and a bountiful provision. (Al Anfal 8:74)

Allah Subhanhuwa Ta-ala says “Those who believe, and have migrated, and striven hard with their wealth and their lives in Allah’s way, have the highest rank in Allah’s sight. These are those who are successful. Their Rabb gives them good tidings of mercy from him, and pleasurable acceptance, and gardens where everlasting delights will be theirs. They will dwell there in forever. Verily with Allah is a great reward. (At-Taubah 9:20-22)

Allah Subhanhuwa Ta-ala said to His Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wasallam, Say: If your fathers, and your sons, and your brothers, and your wives, and your tribe, and the wealth you have acquired, and the commerce in which you fear a decline, and your homes which are dear to you, are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and striving in his way, then wait till Allah brings His decision (of punishment). Allah does not guide the sinful disobedient. (Al –Taubah 9: 24)

Allah Subhanhuwa Ta-ala says: spend your wealth for the cause of Allah and do not throw yourself into destruction by your own hands (by not striving for the cause of Allah) and do good. Indeed Allah loves the beneficent. (Al-Baqarah 2;195)

Sahl ibne Sa’d as Saidi (Raliyallahu anhu) narrates that we were with Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam in the battle of the Trench, and he was digging the trench, and we were removing the earth. He observed us and said O Allah Life is the Life in the hereafter, forgive the Ansar and Muhajireen. (Bukhari)

Abu Abs (Raliyallahu anhu) narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam said: Whoever’s feet become dusty in the path of Allah Azza wa-jall, he will prohibit those feet from Hell. (Musnad Ahmed)

Abu Hurairah (Raliyallahu anhu) narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam said: The dust of the path of Allah and the smoke of Hell can never be together in the nostrils of any Muslim. (Nasai)

Khuraim ibne Fatik (Raliyallahu anhu) narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, he who spends in the path of Allah, seven hundred times of that is recorded in his book of deeds. (Tirmidi)

Mu-adh (Raliyallahu anhu) narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, Verily the reward of offering Salath (prayers), Siyaam (fasting), and Dhikr (rememberence of Allah) in the path of Allah is enhanced seven hundreds times over the spending in the path of Allah. (Abu Dawood)

In another narration the reward is increased seven thousand times. (Musnad Ahmad)

O Allah, I seek guidance, dutifulness and firmness in every work, and the ability to express thankfulness on Your bounties, and the ability to devotedly worship You, and ask You for a clean heart (from idolatry and infidelity) and seek of You a truthful tongue, and beg for all the good in Your knowledge, and ask forgiveness from all sins in Your knowledge, and seek refuge of You from all evil in Your knowledge. Verily You have the knowledge of all the Unseen. (Musnad Ahmad)

மன நோயைப் பற்றி சில உண்மைகள்.

இப்பொழுதெல்லாம் மருத்துவ ரீதியாக, மனநோயும் இதர நோய்களை போலவே ஒரு வியாதியாகவே கருதப்படுகிறது. ஏனெனில் இந்நோயை சிகிச்சை மூலமாக கட்டுப்படுத்தக் கூடும். சில சந்தர்ப்பங்களில் பூரணமாக குணப்படுத்தவும் முடியும் என்பதனாலேயே.

மன நோய் வெட்கப்பட வேண்டிய ஒன்றானதாகவோ, குழப்பத்தையும், திகைப்பையும் உண்டு பண்ண கூடியதாகவோ, தற்காலத்தில் எண்ணப்படுவதில்லை. மேலும் ஆபத்தை தருவது, தீராதது, சமூகத்தின் பார்வையிலிருந்து மறைத்து வைக்கப்பட்ட வேண்டிய நோய், மனநோய் என்பதும் உண்மையன்று.

மன நோயும், அறிவுத்திறன் குறைவும் ஒன்று என கொள்ளலாமா?

மன நோயும், அறிவுத்திறன் குறைவும் ஒன்றேயல்ல. அவை, வேறானவை. அறிவுத்திறன் குறைந்தவர்களிடையேயும் சில மன நோய்களும் ஏற்படுவதுண்டு. ஆனால் மனநோய் உள்ளவர்கள் யாவரும் அறிவுத்திறன் குன்றியவர்கள் ஆகமாட்டார்கள்.

அறிவுத்திறன் குன்றியவர்கள், கற்றுக் கொள்வதிலே சிரமும், தாமதமும், உள்ளவர்களாயிருப்பர். பொதுவாகவே குழந்தைப் பருவத்திலேயே இந்தக் கோளாறு இருப்பதைக் கண்டறியக் கூடும். இது மிகவும் கடுமையானதாகவும், அல்லது மத்தியதரமானதாகவும், இருக்கக்கூடும்.

இந்தக் கோளாறுக்கு காரணங்கள், மூளை பாதிக்கப்படுதல், சினை அணுக்களில் சீரழிவு, வளர்ப்பு ஏதுக்களில் கெடுதி முதலியனவாகும். ஆரம்பத்திலேயே அறிவுத்திறன் அளவை நிச்சயித்து, அதற்குத் தகுந்த, உரிய பயிற்சிகள் தருவதன் மூலம், அறிவு நிலை குன்றியோர் வாழ்வில், நல்லதொரு திருப்பமும், மாற்றமும் கொண்டு வரக்கூடும்.

மனநோய் பாரம்பரியமாய் பெற்றோர்களிடமிருந்து குழந்தைகளுக்கு வழிவழியாய் வரக்கூடுமா?

சில வகையான மனநோய்கள், உதாரணமாக, மனமுறி நோய், மன எழுச்சி நோய் போன்றவை, சில குடும்பங்களில் (இதர குடும்பங்களை விட) அதிகமாய் தோன்றி பாதிக்கின்றன. பாரம்பரியக் கோளாறே இந்நிலைக்கு அடிப்படையாய், ஆதரவாய், இருக்கிறது எனக் கூறலாம்.

பாரம்பரியத்தால் வரும் தீங்கு என்னவென்றால், மனநோய் தோற்றுவாய்க்கு, எளிதில் ஆளாக்கும் தன்மையை, நிலையை, உற்பத்தியாக்குவதேயாம். எனினும், மற்ற பல காரணங்களும் நோய் விளைவுக்கு அவசியமாயிருப்பதனாலே ஓரிருவரைத் தவிர, அக்குடும்பத்தைச் சேர்ந்த பெரும்பாலோர், இந்த நோயால் தாக்கப்படுவதில்லை.

மனநோய் தொற்று நோயாகுமா?

மனநோய் தொற்று நோய் அல்ல. அம்மை நோய், மண்ணை கட்டி நோய், தட்டம்மை போன்று ஒருவரிடமிருந்து இன்னொருவருக்கு தொற்றி பரவும் நோய், மனநோய் அல்ல.

மன நோயாளர் வன்முறையாளர்கள்?

சமூகத்தில் உள்ள பெரும்பாலரை விட, மன நோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர், வன்முறைகளை கையாளுபவர் என கொள்ளுதல் சரியானதாகாது. எனினும் மன நோயாளர் அச்சமும், ஐயுறவும் கொண்டிருப்பதாலேயே குழப்பத்தோடு பயற்திற்கேற்ப, சமூகத்தை பாதிக்கும் செயல்கள் ஆற்றுகிறார்கள் என கொள்ளலாம்.

அப்பேற்பட்ட சந்தர்ப்பங்களில் சமூகப் பாதுகாப்பிற்காகவும் நோயாளியின் நலனையும் கருதி, அவர்களை கட்டுப்படுத்த வேண்டிய அவசியமேற்படுகிறது.

மனநோயாளிகளின் நலன்களைக் கருதி அவர்களை பூட்டி பாதுகாப்பில் வைக்க வேண்டுமா?

பெரும்பாலான மன நோயாளிகள், ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் சேர்க்கப்படாமலேயே, வெற்றிகரமாய் குணப்படுத்தப்படுகிறார்கள். அதனால் அநேகருக்கு மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்க்கப்பட வேண்டிய அவசியமில்லாமல் போய் விடுகிறது. எனினும், ஒரு சிலர் நோயின் கொடுமையால் மிகவும் பாதிக்கப்படுவதின் நிமித்தம்.

மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்ந்து தீவிர சிகிச்சையும், ஆதரவும் பெற வேண்டியிருக்கிறது. என்றாலும், பெரும்பாலோர் முரட்டுத்தனமாக இருப்பதில்லை. மனநோய் மருத்துவமனையில் பெரும்பாலான அறைகள், பகுதிகள், பூட்டி வைக்கப்படுவதில்லை. மிகச் சிலரையே சமூகப் பாதுகாப்பிற்காகவும், நோயாளியின் சொந்த பாதுகாப்பிற்காகவும், பூட்டி வைக்க வேண்டிய நிர்பந்தம் ஏற்படுகிறது.

மனேநோயை குணப்படுத்த முடியுமா?

மக்களில் பலர், தங்கள் வாழ்க்கையில் ஒரே ஒருமுறை தான் மனநோயால் அவதியுற்று, பிறகு எப்போதுமே அந்நோயால் பாதிக்கப்படாமலே இருக்கின்றார்கள். ஒருசிலர், பலதடவை, மறுபடியும் மறுபடியுமாக, மனநோயால் தாக்கப்படுகிறார்கள்.

மிகச் சிறுபான்மையினர் தங்கள் வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் மனநோயால் கஷ்டப்படுகிறார்கள். உடலைப் பற்றிய நோய்களை போலவே மன நோய்களிலும் மறுபடியும் பிணிவாய்ப்படுதல் என்பது, சகஜமாய் நிகழக்கூடியது தான். மேலும் பல வருடங்களாக நோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களும் குணமடையலாம்.

கணவரை மகிழ்விப்பது எப்படி

குர்ஆன் மற்றும் நபிமொழிகளின் நிழலில், ஒவ்வோர் பெண்ணும் கட்டாயம் தெரிந்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டியவை.

மனைவியின் அழகிய வரவேற்பு

பணியிலிருந்தோ அல்லது பயணத்திலிருந்தோ கணவன் வீட்டிற்கு வரும்போது அவரை நல்ல வார்த்தைகள் கூறி வாழ்த்துக்களுடன் வரவேற்று உபசரியுங்கள்.

முகமலர்ச்சியுடன் கணவரை எதிர்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

உங்களை அழகுபடுத்தி, உங்கள் கணவருக்குப் பிடித்தமான வாசனைத் திரவியங்களைப் பூசிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

சந்தோஷமான செய்தியை முதலில் தெரிவியுங்கள், கவலையான செய்தி ஏதேனும் இருந்தால் உங்கள் கணவர் அமைதி அடையும்வரை பிற்படுத்தி வையுங்கள்.

அன்பான, அரவணைப்பான வார்த்தைகளை உங்கள் கணவரிடத்தில் பயன்படுத்துங்கள் (வேலையிலோ அல்லது வரும் வழியிலோ ஏதாவது பிரச்சினைகளைச் சந்தித்திருக்கலாம்).

கணவருக்காக அக்கறையுடன் தயாரிக்கப்பட்ட உணவை, சரியான நேரத்திற்குள் பரிமாறுங்கள் (கணவருடன் சேர்ந்து உண்ணும் வாய்ப்பையும் ஏற்படுத்திக் கொள்ளுங்கள்).

இனிய குரலும் தேவையான கனிவும்

உங்கள் கணவரிடம் மென்மையான குரலில் அழகாக, அன்பாகப் பேசுங்கள். கணவரைத் தவிர வேறு எந்த ஆணிடமும் – குறிப்பாக – மஹரம் அல்லாத ஆண்களுக்கு முன்னால் குழைந்து பேசக்கூடாது என்பதை மறந்துவிடவேண்டாம்.

உங்கள் கணவரிடத்தில் “உம்!! இல்லை!!” என்று அரைகுறையாகப் பேசி, அவரின் பேச்சை உதாசீனப்படுத்தாதீர்கள்

நறுமணமும் அலங்கரிப்பும்

உடலை அழகு-ஆரோக்கியமாக வைத்துக்கொள்ள சிரத்தையுடன் முயற்சி செய்யுங்கள். (வீட்டு வேலைகளை வேலைக்காரியோ அல்லது இயந்திரங்களின் உதவியோ இன்றி நாமே செய்ய முயற்சி செய்யவேண்டும். இதனால் உடல் ஆரோக்கியத்தையும் உடல் அழகையும் பேணுவதோடு பணச்செலவையும் குறைக்கலாம்).

உங்கள் கணவரோடு தனித்திருக்கும் வேளையில் மட்டும் மெல்லிய ஆடைகளைப் பயன்படுத்துங்கள்.

தினமும் குளித்து உடலை சுத்தமாக வைத்துக்கொள்ளும் பழக்கத்தை மேற்கொள்ளுங்கள். குறிப்பாக மாதவிடாய் காலத்தில் சுத்தமாக வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவதில் அதிகமாக அக்கறை செலுத்துங்கள்

வீட்டிற்கு கணவன் வருவதற்கு முன்னால் உங்களை அழகுபடுத்திக் கொள்ளுங்கள். (அழுக்கான ஆடையுடன் முகத்தில் எண்ணெய் வடிந்திருக்கும் நிலையில் உங்கள் கணவரிடம் செல்லாதீர்கள்).

தடுக்கப்பட்ட முறையில் அதாவது ஹராமான முறையில் அலங்கரித்துக் கொள்ளக்கூடாது. (உதாரணமாக புருவத்தை மழித்துக் கொள்ளுதல், ஒட்டுமுடி வைத்துக் கொள்ளுதல்).

கணவனுக்குப் பிடித்தமான வாசனைத் திரவியம், கலர் துணிவகைகள் ஆகியவற்றைப் பயன்படுத்துங்கள்.

முடி அலங்காரம், வாசனைத் திரவியங்கள், உடையின் வண்ணம் மற்றும் மாடல் ஆகியவற்றை கணவன் ரசிக்கும்படி அடிக்கடி மாற்றுங்கள். இவை அனைத்தும் மஹரம் இல்லாத ஆண்களுக்கு (திருமணம் முடிக்க தடை இல்லாத ஆண்களிடம்) வெளிப்படுத்துவது ஹராம் என்பதை நினைவில் கொள்ளுங்கள்.

நபி (ஸல்) அவர்களிடம் வினவப்பட்டது: “அனைவரையும் விடச் சிறந்த பெண் (மனைவி) யார்?” அண்ணலார் (ஸல்) அவர்கள் நவின்றார்கள்: “எந்தப் பெண் தன் கணவன்தன்னைப் பார்க்கும் போது அவனை மகிழ்விப்பாளோ, அவன் கட்டளையிட்டால் அவனுக்கு கீழ்ப்படிந்து நடப்பாளோ, தன் விஷயத்திலும் தன்னுடைய பொருளிலும் தன் கணவனுக்கு விருப்பமில்லாத எந்தப் போக்கையும் மேற்கொள்ளமாட்டாளோ அத்தகையவளே, அனைவரையும் விடச்சிறந்தவள்” ( நஸயீ).

அல்லாஹ் அருளியவற்றைக் கொண்டு திருப்தி கொள்வது

உங்களுடைய கணவன் ஏழையாகவோ சாதாரண வேலையிலோ இருந்தால் அதற்காக வாழ்க்கையை வெறுத்துவிடாதீர்கள். (பிறரின் கணவர்கள்போல் நீங்கள் இல்லையே என ஒப்புமையும் செய்யாதீர்கள். அது உங்கள் கணவருக்கு உங்கள்மீது வெறுப்பை உருவாக்கும்).

ஏழைகள், உடல் ஆரோக்கியம் இல்லாதவர்கள், ஊனமுற்றோர்கள் போன்ற நம் நிலைக்குக் கீழாக உள்ளவர்களைப் பார்த்தேனும் இறைவன் நம்மை இந்த நிலைக்கு உயர்த்தி வைத்திருப்பதை நினைத்து சந்தோஷப்படுங்கள்.

தன்னம்பிக்கையும் கணவருக்கு நீங்கள் அளிக்கும் ஊக்கமும்தான் உங்கள் வாழ்க்கையின் முன்னேற்றம் என்பதை மறந்துவிடாதீர்கள்.

உலக விஷயத்திலேயே மூழ்கிவிடவேண்டாம்

இவ்வுலக வாழ்க்கை மட்டும்தான் நமக்கு நோக்கம் என்று இருந்திட வேண்டாம்.

இதன் அர்த்தம் அல்லாஹ் அனுமதித்த இன்பங்களை அனுபவிக்கக் கூடாது என்பதல்ல, மறுமையின் சுகவாழ்வுக்கு எதிரான விஷயங்களைக் கவனமாகத் தவிர்த்து வாழ வேண்டும் என்பதே.

உங்கள் கணவரின் செலவைக் குறைக்கச் சொல்லி அதனை தர்மம் செய்யவும், ஏழைகளுக்கும் தேவைப்படும் மக்களுக்கும் கொடுக்க ஆர்வம் ஊட்டுங்கள்

அவசியம் இல்லாத பொருள்களை வாங்கிக்கேட்டு கணவனை நச்சரிக்காதீர்கள். (உங்கள் பெற்றோர் வீட்டில் கிடைத்த மாதிரி கணவனிடம் எதிர்பார்க்காதீர்கள். உங்கள் கணவனின் வசதிக்கேற்ப உங்களை மாற்றிக்கொள்ளுங்கள்).

பொருட்செல்வமும் பிள்ளைச் செலவமும் இவ்வுலக வாழ்வின் கவர்ச்சியாகும். நிலையான நல்லறங்களே உமது இறைவனிடம் கூலியில் சிறந்ததும் எதிர்பார்க்கப் படுவதில் சிறந்ததுமாகும். (அல்குர்ஆன் 18:46).

கணவனின் உதவியை வரவேற்றல் நன்றி செலுத்துதல்

நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் சொன்னார்கள்: “பெரும்பான்மையான பெண்கள் கணவனின் உதவியை நிராகரித்ததன் காரணமாக அவர்களை நரகத்தில் பார்த்தேன்” என்பதாக. எனவே கணவன் செய்த உதவிகளை ஒருபோதும் மறந்துவிடாதீர்கள்

உங்கள் கணவரின் உதவிகளுக்கு நன்றி செலுத்தும்போது உங்கள் கணவரை மேலும் உதவி செய்பவராகவும் உங்களைப் பலவழிகளில் சந்தோஷப் படுத்துபவராகவும் காண்பீர்கள்

உங்கள் கணவரின் நன்றியை மறக்கும்போது, உங்கள் கணவர் “இவளுக்குக் கூடுதலாக நல்லது செய்து என்ன பயன்?” என்று தன்னைத்தானே நொந்து கொள்வார்”

உறுதுணையும் உதவியும்

உங்கள் கணவருக்கு ஏதேனும் விபத்தின் காரணமாக ஊனம் ஏற்பட்டுவிட்டால் அல்லது வியாபாரத்தில் நஷ்டமடைந்துவிட்டால் பெண்களுக்கு அனுமதிக்கப்பட்ட சொந்தத் தொழில் மூலமாகவோ மற்றும் உங்கள் சொத்தின் மூலமாகவோ கணவனுக்குத் ‘தோள்’ கொடுங்கள்

கட்டுப்படுதல்

ஒரு பெண் தனது ஐவேளைத் தொழுகையை(செம்மையாக)த் தொழுது (ரமழான்) மாதத்தில் நோன்பு நோற்று, தனது கற்பையும் காத்துக்கொண்டு (இறை ஆணைகளுக்கு மாற்றமில்லாத காரியங்களில்) தன் கணவனுக்குக் கட்டுப்பட்டும் நடந்து கொண்டால், ‘நீ விரும்பும் எந்த வாயில் வழியாக வேண்டுமானாலும் சுவர்க்கத்தில் நுழையலாம்” என அவளிடம் (மறுமையில்) கூறப்படும்” என நபி (ஸல்) அவர்கள் நவின்றார்கள் (தப்ரானி, முஸ்னத் அஹ்மத்).

“ஒருவர் மற்றொருவருக்கு சாஷ்டாங்கம் (ஸஜ்தா) செய்யலாமென அனுமதி இருந்தால் மனைவியைக் கணவனுக்குத் தலை வணங்கி சாஷ்டாங்கம் (ஸஜ்தா) செய்ய ஆணையிட்டிருப்பேன்” என ரசூல் (ஸல்) அவர்கள் கூறினார்கள் (அபூதாவூத், நஸயீ, திர்மி, இப்னுமாஜா, பைஹகி).

கணவனுடைய அத்தனை கட்டளைகளையும் நிறைவேற்றுங்கள் – அது இறைவனுக்கு மாற்றமாக இல்லாதபோது

ஓர் இஸ்லாமியக் குடும்பத்தில் கணவன் தலைவன் என்பதையும் மனைவி கணவனுக்கு உதவி செய்பவள் என்பதையும் மறந்துவிடாதீர்கள்.

பொறாமை என்பது ஒருவித மனநோய் என்றுதான் கூற வேண்டும். தான் பெறாத ஒன்றை பிறர் பெறும் போது ஏற்படும் ஒருவகை உணர்வே பொறாமை உணர்வாகும். சிலர் தாம் பெற்றிருப்பதைத் தனக்குக் கீழே உள்ளவர்கள் பெறும் போதும் பொறாமை கொள்வர்.

இந்தப் பொறாமைக் குணத்தால் மன அமைதி கெடுகின்றது. அல்லாஹ்வின் அதிருப்திக்கும், மக்களின் வெறுப்புக்கும் ஆளாக நேரிடுகின்றது.

நீங்கள் பொறாமைக்காறராக இருந்தால் உங்கள் நிம்மதியையும் மன அமைதியையும் நீங்களே கெடுத்துக் கொள்வீர்கள். நீங்கள் யார் மீது பொறாமை கொள்கிறீர்களோ அவர்கள் சந்தோசப்படும் போதெல்லாம் உங்களுக்குக் கவலையை ஏற்படும்.

உங்களோடு கூட இருப்பவர்கள் வாழ்வில் சந்தோசங்களை அனுபவிக்கும் போது அவர்கள் மீது பொறாமை கொள்வதை விட்டு விட்டு அவர்களை வாழ்த்தக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

உங்களுடன் கூட இருப்பவர்கள் சிறப்பை அடையும் போது மகிழ்வடையக் கற்றுக் கொள்ளுங்கள். பொறாமை கொண்டு அவர்களின் அந்தஸ்தையும், மகிமையையும் குறைக்கும் வண்ணம் பேசித் தொலைக்காதீர்கள். கூட இருப்பவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் இருக்கும் போது முகத்தை சுருட்டிக் கொண்டு சோகத்தில் வாடாதீர்கள்.

மலரும் பூக்களைக் கண்டு மனம் சோர்வடைவதில் என்ன அர்த்தம் இருக்கிறது?? பூக்களின் நறுமணத்தை சுவாசிக்காமல் மூக்கை மூடிக் கொள்பவன் எப்படி புத்திசாலியாக இருக்க முடியும்?

எனவே, பொறாமை கொள்ளாதீர்கள். பொறாமை மூலமாக அல்லாஹ்வின் அன்பையும் மக்களது நேசத்தையும் இழந்து மன அமைதியையும், நிம்மதியையும் இழந்து கோள் சொல்லி, புறம் பேசி, அவதூறு கூறி, பாவத்தைத் தேடாமல் உங்களைப் பாதுகாத்துக் கொள்ள முயற்சி செய்யுங்கள்.

Science without Islam Where To

Is the world going to cease, and that any moment without notice' May be. The deadlier the bomb in the hands of man, the more unsafe is he who knows when this ungodly civilisation commits suicides.

In all history the peril is the greatest today. It all depends upon the decision of one and only one War Minister, wise or otherwise. It all depends upon the trigger-pulling of one and only one bomber, by intent or by accident, by move or by mistake. And whether or not the other party gets chance to retaliate, this planet will have been blown up, lives and limbs shooting to the skies. And even if the crust of the earth persists, the hands of time will move back to a fifty thousand years in less than five minutes.

So far, what keeps this fatal move in check? Is it good conscience? Good judgement? Or, regard for international peace, justice and fraternity?

Certainly not. The godless man has no such consideration, no such courtesy. He is self worshipper to the core. In his impulse he would have "fired the first shot" but for fear of retaliation. Thank Allah Almighty, there are more than one atomic powers, each in dread of the other.

And then there is the other danger, the internal white worm. Even if man is prudent enough not to plunge the world into the Third War, he is losing his flesh and blood through such slow but sure poisons as the exploitation of man by man and of nation by nation. Tyranny, crime, corruption, poverty, unemployment, ignorance, sex-anarchy, wealth-worship have made life very miserable. Material luxuries catering to no more than five senses are no substitute for the joy of heart, peace of mind, nobleness of spirit. In fact, divorced from any divine discipline, they have added to man's nervous tension and blood pressure, unbalanced his abilities and cut down his sense of safety and enjoyment,

Man has conquered the moon, but has he conquered his worst enemy himself. The more he is in control of distance, of space, of nature, the more he is beset with problems, from domestic to diplomatic. He is entering the last quarter of the 20th century, the century which has so far given him such gifts as aeroplanes, cinema, radio, television, atomic and nepalm, energies, flight to the moon. But with these have also come two world wars and a dozen other wars, the tragedies of Hiroshima, Vietnam, Palestine, Kashmir. These 81 years have produced by far the biggest number of crimes, divorces, unfathered and even unmothered children, sexual anarchy, suicides, economic depressions, revolutions, famines, floods, diseases and what not. Materially man is far more advanced in 1981 than in 1881. But is he happier, healthier and safer than his great grandfather?

The man of today knows ful I well the dangers he is faced with, national and international. But can he save himself from the menacing perils of his own creation? However he is des-parately taking so many kinds of steps to meet them, although to no success so far.

Can science save a nation, much less the world?

Knowledge is power. And science by its inventions and discoveries, has placed a vast potential in the hands of a man. But did it teach him how and why to use that power? Did it put any check, moral or material, on the use of that power?

It is a tragedy that science is not a science. It is not neutral. It is not complete. It is not impartial research. It chooses to discuss no more than one side of the pictures of the what and the how with the most unscientific bigotry and blindness, it refuses to discuss the who and the why, the Creator and His purpose of creation. Are we not justified to say that science is one-eyed and insists on remaining one-eyed? Divorced from godliness, it is nothing but the power to seek pleasure at the cost of all values, moral and spiritual, including the pleasure of throwing bombs over the weak.

No doubt, these inventions and discoveries have made life easier, richer, speedier, more efficient, more powerful although less meaningful. The more man's inventions and discoveries, the more his worries, his lusts, his crimes, his sex-anarchies, his problems, his perils. Were science wedded to godliness, man would be the master not only of his world but also of his home.

Puffed with the powers of material science, man started believing in his own intellect without ever caring who made his mind, his physical machinery, his environments as they are and why. He set about in his own selfish material pursuit and refused to take command from the Divine Authority. He chose to keep a few religions but took good care to tailor them to suit his own social and political conveniences. He made his own goods, if at all, but cunningly made them careless and powerless enough not to interfere in his pursuit of wealth, sex and politics.

The so-called scientist never thought of recognising the Authority of the Creator of the universe, the Creator of man himself and of his vast abilities, the Creator of all laws and bodies of physics and chemistry, science and arts. He chose to plunge deep into the mysteries of the atom, of the land, of the water, of the air, of the fauna and flora but never for a moment thought to investigate whether or not the Creator of man was also the Commander of man in all sectors of his activity, whether or not he has given him a mission and a code to live for and live by, whether or not he meticulously watches every instant who obeys His laws and who does not—with Reward or Punishment to follow, of course.

The so-called scientist never cared to think in terms of the world eternal, the life to come with its Rewards and Punishments, He concentrated on his small transient material world alone to eat and drink and be merry. Intoxicated in his lust for unfettered power and unfettered freedom, he refused to recognise an all world or rather an all-world Authority, although unseen by the physical eyes. He chose to believe in the unseen electron but not in the unseen Maker and Master. He took to enmity against Islam for reasons selfish, sentimental or at best historical The hot cold wars between Islam and non-Islam are wars between discipline and lust, between the seekers of the other world and the seekers of this world.

Let the true scientist be aware that materialism alone has signally failed to produce international good-will and cooperation, love and benevolence, peace and justice, ease of mind and of conscience. Let him admit that with all its advance in scientific power, the life of today is much more wicked much more fraudulent and much more selfish than it was a hundred years ago.

The inculcation of Islamic ideology is all the more important today. There is no doubt that the developing nations should try to catch up with the developed nations in their scientific and technical actments. But at the same time they should not allow the triumphs of technology to blind them to the demands of mind and soul. In this age of nuclear power and space travel when people are dazzled by the achievements of the unscientific science, it is necessary for everyone of us to maintain the balance between science and humanities so that man may not degenerate into a machine. Let the students of science know that whatever advancement they may attain in their knowledge of the laws of nature, they cannot put the knowledge into a constructive use without understanding the significance and purpose of their own life.

No doubt, the knowledge of science provides us with power—the power of instruments and the power of intellect. But how this power is to be used? It is here that Islam comes into play. Of course, we need a vast army of trained personnel to develop industry, to modernise agriculture, to harness rivers and to fight salinity, to extract minerals, to produce steel, to equip our defence with armaments. But what we need most is good soul and spirit. And good souls and spirits are given by Islam.

We are confident that if the nations of the world take to the mission and method of life as prescribed by Islam, not only will they reduce to the minimum such maladies as are eating into their body social and their body politic but also will save this planet for the conquest of other planets not by way of military aggression but by way of reaching them through the power of science and winning them through the power of Deen of Islam — fraternity, love, peace and justice. On the eve of the conquest of other worlds, it is up to this world to equip itself with a model universal system of life—as demonstrated by the Holy Prophet of Islam (peace and blessings of Allah be upon) and his immediate followers. Fortunately, history has a meticulous record

Science Must Lead to Faith in God :
Science works on laws and principles which remain unchanging throughout lime and space. Had the laws of nature been changing, there would have been no science, no material progress of the human being. Who made those laws and why? For reasons of his own, the scientist does n't choose to discuss who and why. He discusses what and how only. Had he chosen to dwell on who and why also he would have achieved 'Iman.

Even though we seem to have made big strides in research, discovery and invention, we are still in the dawn of the Age of Science. However every exploration, every new piece of information, every invention goes to show that the Universe —of which this planet is only a tiny dot — is made and worked on principles. Had there been no principles, no fast and permanent values, no eternal laws of nature to depend upon, there would have been no knowledge, no cause and effect and certainly no science.

The first and foremost reason why a true scientist cannot but believe in Allah is that the entire creation is built on and is run on the most perfect scientific principles. No doubt there are changes —of atmosphere, of season, of life and death, of events, of people — but every change is based on unchanging principles. You can depend upon this fixed system. You can bank on this solid organisation. It was this full dependence, this hundred per cent banking upon, that made man anticipate, calculate, prepare and actually demonstrate his march to the moon.

In his progress towards the power of knowledge, in his observations, experiments and studies of the laws of nature, a scientist with an unbiased neutral brain must realise at each step that this Nature is a definite, planned, designed, pre-schemed, pre-destined and purposeful handicraft oi the greatest Mechanic, Engineer, Architect, Planner, Artist and Scientist. In this machinery, every fibre counts, every cog calculates. Nothing in the least is immature, uncalculated, irresponsible, half-baked, insecure, unwise. Nothing is emotional, accidental, playful, by chance, by the way, by the mood. Each sector, each branch, each minute detail is the Evidence of a master-planning, engineering, fitting and balance.

In his pursuit of science, even the beginner's brain cannot but take early deep-seated notice of the Master-Maker and Master-Designer, the AM-Powerful Secret Brain that has done all the arithmetic, geometry, chemistry, physics, astronomy, mechanics, causation, balance, proportion and what not of the earth and of the space beyond, the Secret Hand that manifests itself in everything above, upon and below the sun, the Secret Being that exhibits its concern of science in anything and everything that is or is not the concern of a scientist. Can a scientist proceed a step without recognising the Authority of an All-Powerful Ruler who keeps the house in order, in working, in balance? Our Universe has no meaning; it can't have any meaning unless there is a Power that made it as it is, that runs it as it is the whole course of its life. You can't escape the inevitable conclusion.

Just as there cannot be a round square, there cannot be an atheist scientist. To call yourself a scientist, you must admit that there is a universal science. To call yourself a true and honest scientist, you must use brain and your instruments not only on the what and how but also on the who and why of this life and conditions of life.

Secondly you will not deny that to be scientific, a law, a machinery or an organisation must have a definite defined purpose, use, aim and ambition. You will not deny that all laws of nature, taken separately or collectively, have a definite purpose and goal. They have been made for the benefit of life, particularly of the human being, the homo sapiens. The earth rotates on its axis approximately at one thousand miles an hour. If it rotated at one hundred miles an hour, our days and nights would be ten times longer. The long hot days would burn up all animal and vegetable life. The long cold night would freeze the survivors. Did you ever consider Who made the earth rotate at a speed most suited to you?

Similarly, if the sun would have been a few thousand miles nearer, you would roast black. If a few thousand miles farther, you would freeze solid. Could you have life —even without ail the intellects and enjoyments— unless there is a Power Who makes and unmakes in terms of none but your benefit?

The slant of the earth is tilted at an angle of 23 degrees. Why this slant? And why exactly this angle? if there would have been no tilt, there would have been no change of season, no beauty in life, perhaps no life. If the moon would have been 25,000 miles farther, man would have been left high and dry without any tide at all, without any free transport of the big oceanic vessels to the inland ports. If the crust of the earth would have been only ten feet deeper, all carbon dioxide and oxygen would have been absorbed, leaving none for animal birth and growth.

Or take so simple a thing as the freezing of water. When water freezes, it gets lighter; the ice floats on top of the water. Why lighter, why not heavier? In all logic, it should sink beneath the liquid water. But for the All-Wise, All-Thoughtful, All-Caring. The floating makes the ice melt by the rays of the sun. It makes the water below the ice keep warm enough to support all animal and vegetable life there.

Who made it so and why? Who planted it that way?

Thirdly man has been given a brain, a scientific brain plus a scientific soul. No other animal can count up to five. No other animal can build up a history, a civilisation, a politics and a science. No other animal can conceive of Allah in a way to worship* Him out of free will. Man alone can conceive Him as the All-Scientific, All-Powerful, All-Merciful, The Giver and The Forgiver, The Awarder and The Punisher through a scientific process of reasoning or a spiritual process of emotional feeling or both.

Nietzsche, the famous philosopher says :

"There is more wisdom in the construction and working of the body and mind of a scientist than he can ever think of. There is more wisdom in the making of an ant than what all the libraries of the world can tell."

Dr. Alexix Carrol, Nobel Prize Winner in Philosophy, asserts emphatically that:

"Science by worshipping the Maker of matter, and not matter exclusively, would restore to man the summit of his development in intelligence, in moral science, in virility.

Who could have said but Einstein:

"No doubt Moses was a better leader of humanity than Machiavelli"?

Prof. Eddington asks :

"Matter is matter. But what about the education, training and confidence of the scientist."

The Maker and Master has given you not only a brain but also a soul. Why?

Who and Why::
Of the six forms of question — what, why, how, when, where and who—the Western science has chosen to concern itself with What, How, Where and When. For political purposes, it has kept the Who and Why beyond its jurisdiction. It does not want to share its power of knowledge with the less furtun-ate brethren it aims to exploit. It therefore does not want to mix science with morality. It does not want to reach Islam.

Modern science is very good at answering how this is made, how can we control it, how does a cell become fertilised, what makes an aeroplane fly, how far away are the stars. But if you ask Who made it that way and why, he shrinks back to his eggshell. Every scientist knows of Newton's Law of Gravity, but no scientist has ever cared to explore why it behaves so and who is the Agency that makes it behave so.

Unless the Who and the Why are enquired into, science at its best is only biased, partial, incomplete, political, motivated, fractional, incomplete and misleading. It is inexact, insecure and undependable. It is a political science.

Where is the Muslim Ummah Standing Today?

All praise is for ALLAH, the Lord of the worlds, Muhammad (Saws) the last of the Prophets, on his household and his Companions (RA) all of them, and on all who follow them with goodness, till the Day of Judgment.

Respected President, Dr. Zafar Ishaq Ansari and the honourable audience. It is an occasion of pleasure and good luck for me that I am getting an opportunity as a student to participate in an assembly of thinkers held under the auspices of a great Research Institute of the country. Exalted ALAH has provided me here the good fortune of speaking on a subject which is very important for our present and future. As regards the good opinions which my respected brother. Dr. Zafar Ansari has expressed about me he has done so by way of his affection and his favourable opinions about me. For all this I can only pray to Exalted Allah to grant me the requisite ability to come up to his expectations, Aameen!

Two conflicting sides of the Muslim Ummah
As you are aware, the subject of today's talk is: "Where is the Muslim Ummah standing today?" This is a multi-sided subject. Where is the Muslim Ummah standing in the political field, economic field and the moral field? Thus, this question may assume different forms according to these various fields of application. Every field demands a detailed study and discussion and it is difficult to cover every field in one sitting. I, therefore, want to tackle presently in brief only one field of this question. This relates to the question: Where is the Muslim Ummah standing in the field relating to the domain of thought and thinking? Today when we are reviewing the present state of affairs of the Muslim Ummah, we come across two conflicting trends of thoughts. One trend is that, the Muslim Ummah has fallen a victim to downfall and deterioration and two, this very environment are talking with great force and favour about the birth of an Islamic awakening.

The first trend relates to a depression and deterioration of the Ummah, whereas the second trend relates to its possible renaissance and revival in the near future. When the first trend breeds dejection and despondency in our hearts the second trend sometimes creates in us undue hopes and complacency.

The "Truth" lies between the two extremes
I beg leave to assert that the Truth lies between these two extremes. There is no denying that as we as an Ummah have fallen a victim to downfall and deterioration and it is also observed that at the same time, a current of resurgence is spurring the Ummah onwards to action and revival. Even so, we should neither succumb to hopelessness and dejection nor should we be impressed by the topic of an under-current of reform and progress, so highly as to become neglectful of the need of putting in our best endeavours in the path of development and progress. The Truth lies between these two extremes. The subject of this address: "Where is the Muslim Ummah standing today?" is, therefore very important. As a necessary corollary raises other question, viz. What is the destination of this Ummah? and How does it plan to reach that destination? While on this topic, I am taking the middle course of the two extremes. I feel encouraged to say that a welcome feeling is perceptible in almost every area and sector of the Ummah that we have to return to our origin; and as Muslims it is our duty to spread the light of Islam throughout the world. This is what is called (Arabic(الصحوة الاسلامية) It is reassuring that this feeling has spring up, despite the painful realization that the Ummah has been dwindling into a gradual process of downfall and dejection.

An example of deviation from Islam
It is also a token of Allah's Omnipotence that one may get an idea of the deviation of the Ummah from Islam by looking at the conduct and character of those who are holding today the rein of political affairs and below an incident to highlight this deviation from Islam which may seem to be incredible to others, but it happened with myself Once

I happened to visit an Islamic country along with a delegation. The delegation decided to present to the President of the country a gift of the Holy Qur'an. For this purpose it was necessary to obtain permission of the protocol for which an application was made. After the delay of one day we were informed that the proposed gift could not be presented to the President, as it could create a misunderstanding among the non-Muslim subjects of that country and therefore some other gift might be presented. This is an example of the apathy to Islam at official and political levels in countries called Islamic.

An example of Islamic awakening
In contrast to this sad experience there was another. The same day we visited a mosque to offer our prayer. We found that the mosque was full of young boys. They were more in number than the older men. After the prayer these boys sat in a corner of the mosque and began discussing something in their daily routine after prayers to read some religious book to one another and discuss religious issues. The people told us that this practice was followed in all the mosque in that country. This is in spite of the fact that there is no formal organisation or association to organise and conduct these sittings.

The overall state of the Islamic world
You can realize from the foretold observations how Islam is being treated at the political and official levels and how intimately the younger generations are seen attracted by and attached to Islam. By considering as a whole the affairs of the Islamic world we come to the conclusion that the attitude to Islam at the official or political levels is either inimical or at least that of indifference. These governmental and political agencies have no interest in Islam. As against this, a current of resurgence has sprung up among the general public particularly the younger generation. This movement has gained ground in different parts of the world with the aim of applying Islam to our lives and according to a practical implementation.

Sacrifices in the name of Islam
It is quite true untold sacrifices have been offered in the path of Islam. The lovers of Islam have sacrificed their lives and properties for the success of the various movements organised in many countries to apply Islam and its Shariah. We are indeed proud of these freedom fighters in countries like Egypt, Algeria etc. In our own country Pakistan; people have from time to time made great sacrifices of their lives and properties for the application of the Islamic Shariah in the land. These sacrifices are a cause of pride for the Muslim Ummah. All this goes to show that even today the spark of Eeman is present in the hearts.

The Miracles of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

The Messenger of Allâh possesses many manifest miracles and signs demonstrating [his veracity], reaching thousands and they are well known.

From amongst them was the Qur'ân, the manifest and clear miracle and brilliant proof, falsehood cannot approach it from before it or behind it. It is a revelation from One Who is All-Wise and Praiseworthy. It incapacitated the most eloquent of people in the most eloquent of times to produce a single chapter than would be comparable to it, even if the whole of creation were to gather for that purpose. Allâh, the Exalted says,

"Say: if the whole of mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'ân, they could not produce the like of it, even if they assisted each other." [Al-Isrâ' (17):88]

It challenged them to this despite their large numbers, their eloquence and their severe enmity, and it challenges them to this day.

As for the other miracles, it is not possible to enumerate them all due to their huge number and renewing and increasing nature. I will mention some examples:

The splitting of the moon, water flowing from between his fingers, increasing the quantity of food and water, the glorification of the food, the palm tree yearning for him, stones greeting him, the talking of the poisoned leg [of roasted sheep], trees walking towards him, two trees that were far apart coming together and then parting again, the barren [and therefore dry] sheep giving milk, his returning the eye of Qatâdah bin an-Nu'mân to its place with his hand after it had slipped out, his splitting lightly into the eye of 'Alî when it had become inflamed and its being cured almost immediately, his wiping the leg of 'Abdullâh bin 'Atîq whereupon he was immediately cured.

His informing of the places of death of the polytheists on the Day of Badr saying, 'this is the place of such-and-such a person.' His informing of his killing Ubayy ibn Khalaf, that a group of his nation would traverse an ocean and Umm Harâm would be amongst them and this occurred. That all was drawn together for him of the ends of the earth and displayed to him would be opened for his nation, that the treasures of Chosroes would be spend by his nation in the Way of Allâh, the Mighty and Magnificent. That he feared for his nation that they would be tempted by the wealth and allurement of this world and that the treasures of the Persians and Romans would be ours and that Surâqah bin Mâlik would wear the trousers of Chosroes.

He informed us that Hasan bin 'Alî would reconcile between two large warring parties of Muslims, that Sa'd bin Abû Waqqâs would live such that nations would benefit by him and others would be harmed. That an-Najâshî had died on this particular day while he was in Ethiopia and that al-Aswad al-Ansî had been killed on this particular day while he was in Yemen.

That the Muslims would fight the Turks who were described as having small eyes, wide faces and small, chiselled noses and that Yemen, Syria and Irâq would be conquered by the Muslims.

He informed us that the Muslims would comprise three armies, an army in Syria, an army in Yemen and an army in Irâq. That they would conquer Egypt, a land whose [unit of land measurement] was the Qîrât, they they should deal with their people well for they have protection [being Copts] and ties of kinship [through Hajar]. That Awais al-Qarnî would come to you from the auxiliaries of Yemen, he would be affected with leprosy and it would be healed except for the space of a dirham, and he indeed arrived during the rule of 'Umar.

He informed us that a group of his nation would always be upon the truth and that mankind would become many in number and that the Ansâr would diminish in number and that the Ansâr would not be given their due [with regards distribution of wealth and leadership]. That mankind would keep on asking questions until they would say, "Allâh created the creation ..." [Referring to the hadîth, "the people will continue asking until they say, 'this is Allâh who created everything ... but who created Allâh?' " Reported by al-Bukhârî [no.7296] and Muslim [no.136]]

He informed us that Ruwayfî' bin Thâbit would live a long life, that 'Ammâr bin Yâsir would be killed by the transgressing group, that this nation shall divide into sects and that they would fight each other.

He informed us that a fire would emanate from the land of Hijâz and the likes of this. All of this occurred exactly as he, sallallâhu 'alayhi wa sallam, said it would.

He said to Thâbit bin Qays,

"You will live being praised ... and you will die as a martyr."

and he lived being praised and was martyred at al-Yamâmah. He said about 'Uthmân,

"He would afflicted by a severe trial." [The meaning of severe trial is his being imprisoned in his house and his being killed by transgressors.]

He said about a person amongst the Muslims who had just fought a severe fight that,

"He would be from amongst the denizens of the Fire."

and later he committed suicide. Wâbisah bin Ma'bad came to him in order to ask him about righteousness and sin upon which he asked,

"Have you come to ask about righteousness and sin?"

He said to 'Alî, az-Zubair and al-Miqdâd,

"Go to the garden of Khâkh for indeed there is Dha'înah* who has a book with her."

They found her there but she initially denied having the book and then took it our from within her braids.

He said to Abû Hurayrah, when Satan had stolen some dates, "indeed he shall return ... " and he did.

He said to his wives, "The most prolific of you in giving charity will be the quickest of you to join me," and it was so. [Zaynab bint Jahsh radiallâhu 'anhâ was the most prolific of them in giving charity and was the first to die. Refer to Muslim [no.2452].]

He said to 'Abdullâh bin Sallâm, "You will remain upon Islâm until you die."

He supplicated for Anas that his wealth and sons increase and that he should live a long life and it was so. He lived for more than one hundred years and not one of the Ansâr was richer than he and one hundred and twenty of his children had been buried before the arrival of al-Hajjâj [to Basrah]. This is detailed further in Sahîh al-Bukhârî [no.1982] and others.

He sallallâhu 'alayhi wa sallam supplicated that Islâm be strengthened through 'Umar bin al-Khattab or Abû Jahl, and Allâh strengthened it through 'Umar radiallâhu 'anhu. He supplicated against Surâqah bin Mâlik and the feet of his horse sank into the earth and he was thrown off, he called out asking for safe conduct and was granted it, then he asked the Prophet to make a supplication for him.

He supplicated that Allâh remove feeling the bitter cold and heat from 'Alî and so never did he feel cold or hot. He supplicated for Hudhayfah, the night that he sent him to spy on the Confederates, that he not feel the cold and he did not until he had returned. He supplicated for ibn 'Abbâs that Allâh grant him understanding of the religion and it was so. He supplicated against 'Utaybah bin Abû Lahab that Allâh cause a dog from amongst His dogs to overcome him and he was killed by a lion at az-Zarqâ'.

He sallallâhu 'alayhi wa sallam supplicated for the descent of rain when they asked him to at the time of drought, there was not a single cloud in the sky, then when he had supplicated, the clouds gathered like mountains and it rained until the next Friday. It rained so much they they had to come back and ask him to supplicated and stop the rain, so he supplicated and the rain stopped and they out into the glaring sun.

He supplicated for Abû Talhah and his wife, Umm Sulaym, that he bless them in the night they had spent together and she became pregnant and gave birth to 'Adullâh. He had nine children and all of them were scholars.

He sallallâhu 'alayhi wa sallam supplicated for the mother of Abû Hurayrah radiallâhu 'anhu that she be guided and Abû Hurayrah left to find her performing the ritual bath because she had accepted Islâm. He supplicated for Umm Qays bint Muhsin, the sister of 'Ukkasha, that she live a long life and we do not know of another woman who lived as long as she did. This was reported by an-Nasâ'î in the chapter concerning washing the deceased.

On the Day of Hunain he threw a handful of dirt at the disbelievers and said, "May the faces be disfigured," and Allâh, the Exalted, vanquished them, filling their eyes with dirt. He once went out to one hundred of the Quraysh who were waiting to do something horrible to him and he put dirt on their head and went on his way without their seeing him.

* [This is the woman with whom Hasîb al-Balta'ah radiallâhu 'anhu sent a letter to the people of Mecca in order to inform them of the plans of the Messenger of Allâh sallallâhu 'alayhi wa sallam to fight them. It was concerning this that the first verses of Sûrah Mumtahinah were revealed. The garden of Khâkh is a place falling between Mecca and Madînah. Refer to Bukhârî [no.3983] and Muslim [no.2494] and Tafsîr ibn Kathîr [4/344].]

The Distorted Image of Muslim Women

Since the height of the feminist movement in the late 70's there has been a magnifying glass placed over the status of Muslim women. Unfortunately, the magnifying glass that has been used is an unusual one. Unusual in the sense that it is very selective about which items it will magnify; other items it will distort to such a degree that they will no longer look familiar. I remember once reading in an "in depth" article about the lives of Muslim women. This article "explained" that at any time a man can divorce his wife by simply stating "I divorce you, I divorce you, I divorce you". This article can lead anyone ignorant of the Islamic ruling regarding divorce to believe that in less than five seconds the woman is left with no husband and is left to care for her (and possibly children) by any means necessary. The question that immediately popped up in my mind was, "Did the author innocently write that out of sincere ignorance or was it another of the many attempts to degrade the religion of Islam and its followers (Muslims)?" It may be my own paranoia, but I tend to believe it was the latter of the two.

The truth of the matter is that Islam has the most humane and most just system of divorce that exists. Firstly, many options are taken and tried before coming to the decision of the divorce. If the man and woman decide that they can no longer live together successfully as a husband and wife, the husband (in most cases, not always) pronounces the divorce by saying "I divorce you". At this point the waiting period begins. The waiting period lasts for three menstrual cycles to assure the woman is not pregnant. This period allows the couple time to think about what they are doing and if this is what they really want to do. There are no lawyers involved to antagonize an already delicate situation.

In the case that it is realized, that the woman is pregnant, the waiting period lasts the entire time she is pregnant. During the waiting period (whether the woman is pregnant or not) the man is obligated to provide food, clothing and shelter to the woman as he did before the divorce pronouncement. If the couple carries the divorce through to the birth of the child and the woman suckles the baby, the man is obligated to feed and clothe both his ex-wife for the time the woman suckles (the maximum being two years). After this weaning, the child will be provided for by the father until he/she is no longer in need of support.

It is quite ironic that in such an "advanced society" as America, there are divorce cases in which women are being forced to pay alimony to their ex-husbands. Can this and many other things we know about the American system of divorce compare to the Islamic system of divorce?

There are also incidents where women are forced to marry men without their consent. This in no way resembles the marriage system in Islam. In Islam the woman marries the man of her choice. She may even marry some one that her mother and/or father object to. The point is that it is the woman who makes the final decision as to whom she will marry. Once the man and the woman decide that they are interested in one another for marriage, a dowry is decided upon. A dowry is not a bride's price but, it is a gift from the groom to the bride. They agree upon a gift that is affordable by the groom. In the time of the Prophet (SAW), often things such as livestock and money were given. This is a wise decision in the event that a woman becomes divorced or widowed; she has some financial security to fall back on even if it is for a limited amount of time. Once the man and woman are married, the man is required to clothe, feed, shelter and educate her (or allow her to be educated) in the same manner as he does himself.

The last distorted image that I will cover is that of the Muslim women's dress. The western influenced media portrays our dress to be outdated and oppressive. Needless to say however, I differ with these adjectives. Our dress code does not hinder us from doing anything productive in our lives. Muslim women maintain a variety of jobs, none of which are devalued nor hampered due to their dress code. And as for the timing of Muslims women's dress during these contemporary times, it seems most appropriate due to decreasing morals in the world today.

For those who say that Islamic dress is outdated, they speak from great ignorance. The decreasing morality and trials of this time makes Hijab even more in need. More than ever before sex crimes are rampant. Although this society tells women they can wear what they want to wear, anytime a rape occurs the woman is the one put on trial and one of the first questions is, "What were you wearing?" This concept seems as though it is a set up directed against the so called contemporary woman. Also there is a direct correlation between the respect a man has for a woman and the amount of her body she displays flauntingly.

In conclusion, I hope this article helped to clear up some distorted/misunderstood aspects of Islam and women. Women in Islam are respected and held in high regard. We will never find success and/or solutions to our problems until we realize that Allah knows best and that this disbelieving society will ruin itself.
