Sean,

Your thoughts and reflections on philanthropic approaches were a welcome change from the status quo and made many of us into "tactical" converts. :) Also, speaking as the former co-chair of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, Boston Chapter, it was great to have a younger voice in the room, especially in a field that does not traditionally welcome young people and/or "thinking different.". Thanks for everything, and good luck with the next chapter!

Sean, thank you for your years of thoughtful and constructive analysis and wisdom. Your words and ideas – and the words and ideas you curated on this site from other voices – have had a tremendous impact on my own thinking about the social sector. I remain with you committed to the goal of a flourishing social sector – successfully working alongside the public and private sectors – equipped with the knowledge, insights, strategies, and tools to effectively address the challenges of our time. While we will not have the advantage of your voice active in the conversations to come, through this blog you have left a lasting legacy.

This is a very welcome update from a major shaper of philanthropic giving. I respect the thoughtfulness that has gone into the revision of CN's rating system to take accountability into the equation, but of course look forward to the day when CN puts commensurate weight on evidence that a given not-for-profit organization is actually delivering what its mission statement, goals and objectives promise.
Avanti!

Sean, I just saw your post, and Ken Berger's lines. You brought a voice of reason and understanding to all of this. 5 years ago, you could not have imagined these economic conditions or the effect they have had on charitable giving.

I have enjoyed your blog and the many good things I've seen written by you and your followers. I am hoping you get back to this soon. You're a natural. Thank you for your efforts.

Please add my voice to the chorus of well-wishers and gratitude-expressers in this thread. I've been honored to know you a little bit for the past three years, and to have been a reader for all of that time and more. I always appreciated that you gave the time of day to someone whose main interest was something crazy like the arts. I completely understand the need to take a break, but I hope we'll be reading your wonderful writing again before long.

Sean, I hope you'll find some other space to keep sharing the ideas you've written about in your blog. We're a long way from creating the type of understanding and support of social benefit work that is needed to achieve long-term results.
