TAG has passed MIL-S-901D Grade A high impact shock qualification with their SV-2000-A2 servers in support of the Integrated Shipboard Network System (ISNS). The ISNS program, which is managed by SPAWAR’s PMW-160, took place July14 -15 at the Dynamic Testing Institute (DTI) Laboratories facility in Rustburg, Virginia. While TAG’s servers were only required to meet Grade B, they passed all test series to earn an impressive Grade A qualification. To pass Grade A the servers must continue to perform their intended functions following the test series, allowing momentary malfunctions as long as they are automatically self-correcting. These tests ensure that all mission-critical components on board the Navy vessel operate reliably throughout all environmental conditions.

In advance to the highly-anticipated March 16 launch date, TAG provided attendees of the Military and Aerospace Forum’s COTS Zone 2008 Conference an exclusive look at its rugged Ultra-Mobile PC (UMPC), the TC-100 “TAG Commander”. TAG’s Director of Advanced Concepts and lead designer, Mr. Trevor Landon, delivered a keynote address to the forum on the emerging state of UMPC technology in the federal marketplace – followed by a hands-on technology demonstration of the TC-100. The TAG Commander is the first rugged UMPC on the market designed to support custom military and industrial applications. With features including support for 802.11/Bluetooth/GPS wireless protocols, a high-resolution touch-sensitive LCD screen, an ergonomically-molded form factor, and an environmentally-resistant chassis, the TAG Commander seamlessly blends cutting-edge mobile computing technology into an incredibly rugged and portable four-pound device. The TAG Commander is receiving enormous interest from Commercial and Government customers alike for its versatility, range of customization options, and exceptional build quality.

The SV-1200, also known as the “Gemini”, is unlike any other server that is currently on the market. The Gemini is contained within a 1U chassis that holds two completely independent servers complete with their own power supply. These removable servers allow the end user to extract one server while active programs are still running on the remaining server without interruption. The Gemini is ideal for use in deployable situations where the product’s compact size, high density computing, minimized size, weight, and power make for a highly portable, rugged and reliable system.

TAG’s rugged Mil-Book 1001 is being incorporated into a video surveillance kit that will be used by homeland security and law enforcement. TAG will provide an enhanced version of their Mil-Book 1001 and expansion chassis that utilizes innovative thermal engineering techniques to cool down the accelerated video processing card for increased video quality and surveillance capabilities. The addition of the MIL-BOOK 1001 into the video kit decreased the number of parts in the overall system from 125 to 27, significantly reducing the size and weight of the solution. TAG provided the engineering and integration services on-time and on-budget.

TAG has adapted its non-classified military technology for combating heat and dust issues in computer control systems used behind the pit walls of the F1 (Grand Prix) racing market. TAG used its thermal engineering expertise to design a high-performance server to withstand temperatures up to 60°C, thereby significantly reducing the risk of losing race-critical communications, telemetry, and diagnostics information. TAG will be supplying Midland F1 Racing, Ltd. of the U.K. with the Tactical Hybrid Server™ (THS), which will be deployed by Midland at the start of the 2006 Grand Prix season later this month. Besides ensuring race car-to-pit wall communications during extreme conditions, the THS uses intelligent fan blowers to move porous fiber brake particles through the machine without damaging the internal unit, making it ideal for use in the race car garage environment.
