As if asking for $1 billion more in education funding while trying to close a $2 billion budget gap today wasn't hard enough, a reporter with Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with John Stewart" asked him to pee in a cup while the governor was taking questions on his budget proposal.
  In a nod to Scott's demand that drug tests be required for welfare recipients, reporter Aasif Mandvi stood up during questioning and tried to get a plastic cup passed up to Scott, so he could "prove to Florida taxpayers you're not on drugs."

"Dumb is good". That's the mantra of the new Republican/Confederate/Tea Party. Do you remember the old movie The Blob"? It was a fifties teen horror/sci-fi movie that starred a very young Steve McQueen. A meteor crashes to Earth and inside is this tiny little jello-like substance that grows exponentially by absorbing any human that crosses its path. Eventually, having swallowed a multitude of people, it's as big as a three story house. The amazing thing about this alien organism is that it seems to have no brain or nervous system. Just a hunger for sustenance.

Which is not that very different from the radicalized Republican Party of today. It's brainless, anarchic, and totally devoid of rational thought and any sense of morality. But this amorphous blob is the personification of the schoolyard bully ethos of the new party. Why bullies become bullies has been the subject of countless books, essays, and articles. But it's root cause is jealousy. Who does the bully pick on? The person he sees as being better than him. The one who gets better grades. Speaks better English. Knows more about the world he lives in. Reads books. Reads newspapers. Asks questions in class. But most importantly has a much better a 1000 times better shot at having a successful future.

The goal of the bully is to figuratively and literally knock his victim down to size. To figuratively and literally have them grovel at his feet. The new Republican/Confederate tea party is the Bully of Bullies. And they will follow any candidate willing to spew the same hate and anger as their rallying cry.

- NEW YORK (Reuters) - A judge upheld New York City's legal justification for evicting Occupy Wall Street protesters from a park on Tuesday when police in riot gear broke up a two-month-old demonstration against economic inequality.
- New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg decided the protesters had become a health and fire safety hazard and ordered police to evict them from the camp, where city officials cited reports of sexual assaults, thefts and drug dealing.
  
  Hundreds of police stormed the camp around 1 a.m. (06:00 British time) and dismantled tents, tarpaulins, outdoor furniture, mattresses and signs, arresting 147 people, including about a dozen who had chained themselves to each other and to trees.

- What to watch for: The debate, of course, comes just a day after Cain’s press conference in Arizona, where he defiantly denied the sexual-harassment charges against him. “They simply didn’t happen,” he said. His defiance is one of the reasons why his supporters like him so much. But that kind of defense will only work if the ENTIRE truth is on his side, because he now has put himself in the position where he is daring his accusers to come out with more evidence. And, voila, a second accuser is no freely speaking to the media. As far as how these allegations might play out in tonight’s debate, consider that all the candidates who aren’t Mitt Romney will probably treat Cain with kid gloves. Why? If Cain's campaign collapses, they will all want his supporters. And if you go too hard, you risk alienating them. Bottom line: Attacking Cain tonight on this issue, if you are another GOP candidate, comes with more risk than reward. Another dynamic to watch: Both Huntsman and Perry are in desperation mode. What do they do tonight?

- With less than a month to go there appears to be a nearly $1-trillion gap between the two sides. Politico reports that Republicans presented their proposal on Wednesday, calling for $2.2 trillion package of cuts. Democrats, meanwhile, have floated a $3-trillion plan.
  
  The major difference, as was expected, has to do with tax increases. Democrats call for as much as $1.3 trillion in new taxes, while Republicans call for almost none.

- Gay and lesbian service members and veterans plan to file suit Thursday challenging the constitutionality of the federal ban on gay marriage and federal policy that define a spouse as a person of the opposite sex.
- The suit comes five weeks after the Pentagon ended its ban on gays in the military.
- Lawyers plan to sue in federal district court in Boston, the same court that ruled last year that the federal Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional because it interferes with a state’s right to define marriage.
- The suit also challenges provisions of federal code regarding spouses that lawyers said bar gay couples from accessing benefits provided by the Pentagon and the Department of Veterans Affairs. Those benefits include military identification cards, access to bases, recreational programs, spousal support groups and burial rights at national cemeteries.
