Dan Newlin. This year Memorial Day will be observed on May 30, which is the last Monday of the month. Originally called Decoration Day, the holiday was established to honor soldiers from the Civil War who died while in service. After World War I it was extended to include Americans who have died in all wars. Since Memorial Day was established as a day of remembrance, I thought it’d be nice to take a moment to recognize all the men and women who have served their country in uniform. A North Carolina teen most likely fell to his death from a plane. On Friday, a Massachusetts prosecutor stated Delvonte Tisdale’s mutilated body was found in the suburbs of Boston.

There was news the teen most likely fell from a plane he had stowed away on. Officials speculated that Delvonte Tisdale, 16, hid inside the wheel well of the plane but later fell to his death. There has not been a reason given for why he teen tried to stowaway. Evidence found of the teen being a stowaway were wheel well handprints which belonged to Delvonte Tisdale and clothes strewn about the travel path of the plane.

This teen’s death was a truly sad occurrence and should be a lesson for all. Please just pay the money for your own seat. Flying is one of the safest ways to travel and it is no longer that expensive. This was a truly tragic event. Hopefully, this will be the last time something like this occurs…

Bernie Madoff has been barred from his sons' funeral according to recent news reports. Madoff's son, Mark, was found dead this past week from an apparent suicide. While Madoff is serving a 150 year prison sentence in North Carolina, his sons funeral will have to go on without him.

Mark Madoff was found in the living room of his New York apartment on Saturday. Medical examiners have deemed his death to be a suicide. Could Mark Madoff not deal with the fallout and scrutiny that the whole family has had to undergo as a result of his fathers' actions?

The North Carolina prison where Bernie Madoff currently is being held, allows inmates who have two years or less left in their sentence to attend the funerals of family members. Since Bernie has many, many years ahead of him, it appears that he will not be able to attend the funeral of his son.

Crystal Bowersox on Tonight Show With Jay Leno is making news this weekend, and the American Idol runner up performed the title track of her soon to be released album, Farmer's Daughter. Fans have been waiting for the release of this album since Crystal Bowersox was on Idol earlier this year.

Some say Crystal Bowersox should have won this season, but shecame in second right behind Lee Dewyze. She is not your typical Idol contestant with her music having more of a folk and country feeling in comparison to the more pop music you hear come out of American Idol, but she is sticking by her guns and to her style.

Bowersox isn't about conforming to the style of everyone else. The singer is very much her own person, and this album is set to show that off perfectly. Original plans had the album set for release this spring, but it was in recent weeks that she announced she was able to bring the album together much quicker than she thought, and she would have it out in December.

Now the release of the album is just days away. The debut single, Farmer's Daughter, which is also the title track is a very personal tune to Crystal. It is based on her life growing up with an alcoholic ans abusive parent. Something her mother didn't completely appreciate.
