1. Style Inspiration: Country Chic⁠
Choice of tile pattern lay: Horizontal offset brick bond with a vertical (soldier) stack bond row. This change of feature can be positioned along the top or bottom of the wall where the tiling stops at approximately 1200-1400mm high.

To help optimise the Country inspired look and feel we are trying to achieve here, we have decided to incorporate VJ routed panelling for the walls above where the tiling will stop. This will help add definition and texture to the walls while also adding a sense of warmth to a space that can sometimes feel quite cold.

Bronze tap ware and hardware will add a touch of opulence, this same finish can be brought into the feature wall sconces for cohesiveness. Deep vein marble stone will add a luxurious feel to custom timber vanities.

And why not use this style as an excuse to spend the day at thrift shops, bagging yourself some vintage pieces to add those all important finishing touches to the space.

2. Style Inspiration: Organic Coastal⁠

Choice of tile pattern lay: Here we have used a vertical stack bond lay with the Rice series tiles. This pattern lay can help elongate a space with the straight vertical lines that are defined by off white grout. Accentuating the height of a space is exactly the feel you want to be enhanced in a Coastal inspired home, helping create the space to look and feel light, airy and open. 

Organic-formed materials are used for the light fixtures and basin, and it is important to keep in mind that imperfections are perfect in this scenario. We have selected the crown jewel of natural stone 'Taj Mahal' by CDK Stone, a creamy white quartzite with the appearance of sandstone. While Rumbled Brass Organic from Brodware is the perfect colour finish for the tap ware, and we have selected this in their Halo range - aesthetically stunning with its clean dials and minimal form.

To play off the warm shades bursting in this design, we have opted to use a light oak cabinetry and the Chicama Thin Wave Handle from Touch Handles, a show stopping feature and a design to reflect the water movements in our ocean.

3. Style Inspiration: Traditional Hamptons⁠
Choice of tile pattern lay: In this final flat lay creation the classic herringbone is chosen as the tile lay pattern and we have paired these with a warm white grout which will really help enhance this tile pattern and make it pop! ⁠

Chrome tap ware is the optimal 'jewellery' choice here, especially in a Hamptons inspired design, as it is a metal finish that boasts the look of shiny and mirrored objects that you tend to always see within homes in the Hamptons region. We selected the 'Manhattan' range of tap ware from Brodware, as it is a clean and modern interpretation of a classical design.

Shaker profile cabinetry is selected to offer both interest and a timeless style, while Calacutta Quartz engineered stone from WK Stone dresses the vanity to evoke that all classic Hamptons appeal. 

Key words to live by for a Hamptons inspired look: Timeless, light, bright, sophisticated 

 We have seen grey tones rule the design world for numerous years now, but there is certainly a demand for warmer colours of late, thus, brown is starting to make a huge comeback and we're seeing it used in new and modern ways; which definitely has our attention! 

We have listed below some practical examples of ways to use Brown in your interiors;

• Style with vases, photo frames, coffee table books, artificial or dried foliage, just to name a few. Remember, these sorts of accents may be small, but they work wonders in pulling a room together; the cherry on top of a mouth-watering cake!
• Light fixtures: Pendant lights, wall sconces, table, and floor lamps
• Brown stained/ colour-wrapped furniture
• Bedroom and bathroom linen
  
  

COASTAL
There are so many versions of the Coastal Interior Style, but we will just break it down to 2 sub-styles of Coastal that we find the most sought after; 

• Modern/Contemporary Coastal
  Inspired by the organic colours and textures of nature, contemporary coastal décor might include light woods, baskets, natural fibre rugs, woven light fixtures, various shades of blue, grey, white, and neutrals. It abodes an abundance of natural light that can be filtered through sheer linen curtains.
  
  The perfect colour palette that embodies the Modern Coastal style, is to start with a background of white walls, as well as soft natural colours to resemble the sand and sky. Light sage greens and duck egg blues are the perfect feature colours to include and inject throughout the home. Think soothing, the perfect adjective to use when describing this coastal style.

Well, wish no more! We're about to give you our designer top tips so you can. 
Whether a rectangular, square or round coffee table with these tips we'll help you style it up like a pro. 

Tip Number 1: Consider the Scale... 
Start out by ensuring you've got the right size coffee table for your space, and in proportion to your sofa and other seating in the room. We suggest this as a first step as no matter how well you've styled up the top of the table, if it's totally the wrong size and scale for the space it will take away from your beautiful styling and always look off.

Tip Number 2: Work with both practical and decorative... 
Once you know you have the right size coffee table, you can think about what styling pieces you want to use... we suggest using a combination of decorative decor pieces, as well as practical items that are of use to you. 
+ Decorative pieces such as vases with greenery or florals, sculptural bowls, coral, ceramic beads or chain links, etc. 
+ Practical items could include candles; either tapered in nice candle sticks, or pretty jar'd pillar candles (these are both decorative and useful!), wick scissors (again, both decorative and useful), coasters, coffee table books or professional printed photo books that you'd like to flick through and/or show friends. 

+ Think about items that will help you to create varying heights within your decor clusters.... Vases of varying heights small, medium and large. Choose 1 or more books to stack and additional decor items in a range of sizes. 

+ Choose items that compliment and match the colours and style of your exisiting space; look at the colours and style used within the artwork and decorative cushions of the room.

+ Find items that add texture and interest. This can be in the form of a timber bowl, a woven wicker tray, a piece of coral, a gold brass or black metal candle stick etc.

Tip Number 3: Consider the shape... 
Is your coffee table round, rectangular or square? 
The shape will help you determine how you arrange your styling items. 
+ Round coffee table: arrange and group your items in a triangle shape in the centre of the table. 
+ Rectangular coffee table: arrange and/or group your items in either a square, a triangle or in 2 or 3 small cluster across the centre of the table lengthways. 
+ Square coffee table: arrange in either a triangle or square grouping in the centre, or in 4 small clusters in each corner (this also works well for large rectangular coffee tables). 

Tip Number 4: Get Styling! 
Start off with your bigger items - whether that's a tall vase, a stack of books or a large piece coral. Place that where you'd like and then use the other smaller items to fill in.
+ Place items in a cluster (in tall, medium, short) onto a coffee table book or a tray to create a more considered, uncluttered and grounded look. 
+ Work in pairs or odd numbers. Create clusters with an odd number of items such as 3 various height vases or a stack of books, with a piece of coral and a candle placed on top, or a pair of candle sticks with taper candles. 
+ Most of all, have a play! Styling is all about playing around with your varying items, trying out different clusters and varying placements until you find a combination that appeals to you and looks considered.

Floor rugs are a great way of adding warmth, texture, and colour into a room. However, when it comes to choosing the right one for your space, there are some key do's and dont's to ensure the space looks its best. In this post, we'll specifically explore size and positioning in different areas of your home and why these are important to get right in order to create a cohesive and well designed room. 

One key rule to keep in mind for every area and rug position is in this instance, size does matter! 

The Living Room
The living room is often a hub of activity and the key gathering space in a home.  If no-where else, a great rug in a living room will help it to feel complete and a well-positioned rug can anchor the space and create a cozy, inviting atmosphere. When it comes to choosing the right rug for the living room, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Do: Choose a rug that's large enough to fit all the furniture on it; or at the very least ensure the front legs of the sofa in particular are able to sit over the edge of the rug or within a few centimetres of the edge. This will create a unified look and make the space feel larger. Wherever possible, ensure that the rug isn't too close to the walls, sitting straight and the sofa is able to line up with the centre of the rug. 

Don't: Choosing a rug that's too small for the space for the size of your sofa. If the sofa and or the room is significantly larger than the size of the rug it will cause the room feel disjointed, clunky and off balance. 
So too, on the flip side choosing a rug that is far too big for the size of your sofa will also cause the space to feel off kilter, and cause your sofa to look smaller that it is. 

The Dining Room
A rug in the dining room isn't always needed and or wanted. It can be a headache to keep clean for some families, but if it's something that is needed or wanted in your dining area it can absolutely help define the space and add a touch of sophistication to the room. 

Just like the living room, there are some rules to keep in mind. 

Do: Choose a rug that's large enough to fit under the table and extend beyond it by at least a few feet on all sides. Ensure you are able to fit all of the chairs on it with room to move them in and out without catching on the edges. This will create a cohesive look and protect your flooring from scratches. 

Don't: Choosing a rug that's too small for the space and the table can make the room feel cluttered and cramped. If there isn't room for a rug, or it's not able to be large enough to comfortably fit all the dining chairs on it, it's usually best to opt not to have one.

The Bedroom
We all love the feeling of hopping out of bed and touching something soft underfoot. Having a rug in the bedroom can create a plush, cosy feel and help the room feel grander and more complete. 

Do: Again, size matters! Ensure you choose a rug that's large enough to fit under the bed and extend beyond it by at least half a meter. This will create a cohesive look and add warmth to the room. Ensure the rug can be centered under the bed so that it's visible from all sides and looks symmetrical. 

Don't: Choose a rug that is too small. When the rug is too small it will cause the room to look smaller than it is. So too, be careful when positioning the bed on the rug. A useful 'rule of thumb' is ensuring the rug is large enough to go under at least half to two thirds of the bed and still have plenty showing out from the foot of the bed. Where possible, don't pull the rug all the way up under the bed with only a very small amount showing out on each side. 

To Sum Up: By following these tips, you'll be able to make an informed decision when choosing just the right rug for your space. Remember, size matters! Create symmetry when positioning your rug and ensure that the size and style of the rug matches the size and style of your room and furniture.

Narissa was the final piece of our puzzle when she joined the team in late 2021. Our exclusive in-home consultations are very popular with our clients. Our qualified and experienced Interior Designers are available to visit your property for an in-home consultation.

These one-hour consultations allow the designer to grasp your style/theme and execute plans for each space. In addition, they will give you onsite advice and recommendations on colour, furniture layout, spacing opportunities, etc.

If you require further additions to your home and would like a designer to specify them for you, we can complete an "E Board" or mood board presentation of ideas. This will give you recommended furniture, soft furnishings, artwork, homewares with prices and dimensions included. This additional service does depend on the size and requirements of your home. The designer can let you know the cost during the consultation after seeing your space and talking through everything you would like with them. Alternatively, if you would like a quote, please do not hesitate to phone our office on 07 5523 9825. Once your appointment has been completed, allow 7-10 business days for a mood board to be designed. Inject a fresh colour!

Here at Tailored Space Interiors, we’re lucky enough to have a pretty incredible team working hard behind the scenes - from our interior designers to our showroom assistants and delivery drivers.

Today, we wanted to introduce you to each of our amazing team of designers, with a behind-the-scenes look at their role at Tailored Space. Keep reading to meet each member of our wonderful team, and learn more about their day-to-day routines and favourite memories from the job.

BEC LAWSON

Bec is the owner and director of Tailored Space Interiors, combining her background in senior management roles with her interior design qualifications to bring beautiful spaces to life. With a passion for all things interiors, Bec has worked on an array of successful residential and commercial projects along with creating strategic property styling solutions for clients across the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Byron Bay.

Along with designing styling concepts, creating mood boards and carrying out build consultations, Bec also uses her project management background to ensure all of our projects are carried out seamlessly from beginning to end.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

There is no such thing as a typical day really - every day is different depending on what clients and jobs we have going on at any time. But usually first up is general admin, banking, emails etc, and making sure the team has whatever they need from me to keep on top of things for the day.

Usually, I will have either a property styling install to do where we furnish and style a home that is coming up for sale, or meetings with clients in their home to advise on and discuss their interior design needs or compile mood boards for them. On other days I have Build Consultations booked with clients of our local builders to help them decide on the direction for their colours and finishes for their new homes.

And in between everything is the day to day running of the business, working with my team and finding time for future business planning.

What is your favourite part about the job?

I like the sense of achievement in seeing spaces transform and bringing joy to our clients.

What is your favourite memory/project from your time at Tailored Space?

Oh there are so many but the absolute stand out for me is getting to meet Chris Hemsworth when we delivered some product he purchased from us to his home in Byron Bay!!!

ELLEN TOSIANI

Ellen was originally hired as our Showroom Manager after leaving her job in retail. She had completed her qualification in Interior Design and her flare for creativity and styling quickly shone through as soon as she started with Tailored Space Interiors. Ellen quickly became a much relied on member of the design team and is now available for in home consultations and assists on renovation and build consultations with our senior designers.

Ellen is also the friendly face that will greet you when you visit our Tweed Heads furniture & homeware store.

What does a typical day at work look like for you?

Today on the blog we will be giving away the secrets on how to stay cosy by the coast this Winter.

Deeper Hues

Infusing a winter palette into your coastal interior means combining additional warm hues with the neutral colours that already surround you. Don’t stress about swapping out your lighter tones for deeper ones. It’s Winter, and Winter is all about layering. Bring every cushion you own out of storage if you want to (okay that might be exaggerating, but you get what I mean). Add onto your whites and beiges by adding subtle hints of warmer browns, navy and deep blues. You could also try adding tones of dark or burnt orange and layer it with multiple different shades of white, beige or cream to give your home some extra winter warmth.

As I mentioned above, the key to Coastal styling throughout the cooler months is:

Layers, layers, layers

The perfect way to make your coastal space feel cosy is by adding layers. Play around with woven or fluffy throws and blankets. Any piece will add depth to your home as long as you stick to similar colours. Use textured linen in the bedroom, swap your whites for deeper colours and use a few extra decorative pillows to make this room more appealing on cooler nights. Any bare chairs or furniture can be easily warmed up by using a sheepskin, pillow or a simple throw. Think wools, cashmere and velvet. You can even layer your rugs to build a cosy plush winter feel for your feet.

Embrace Textures. EVERYWHERE

When styling your coastal interior for Winter, embrace the excuse to add a mix of textures… everywhere. You want to keep colours basic and consistent to the theme so try adding a rattan vase or pot, greenery, dried flowers and you can even go as far as adding textured artwork that will add another element of depth to the space.

Lighting

As the season changes so does the light. The days are shorter and the nights are starting earlier. Keep your interior looking coastal for longer by playing with natural and artificial light. Mirrors reflect natural light which can be a great tool to add layers of depth and vibrancy to a room. It can also be as simple as changing your light bulbs to warmer tones in the evening or lighting a few candles for the cool seasons.

Ambience

Keep your coastal interior cosy throughout winter by changing up the ambience of the space. It’s been proven that certain scents can trigger detailed memories and the emotions that were felt in those moments. Create a coastal oasis for you and your guests by adding scented candles or diffusers that reflect the scent of the ocean, even if you’re snuggled up under multiple blankets while doing so.

RESEARCH & PLANNING

Our number one tip is to PLAN PLAN PLAN!

Ask yourself the below questions:

• Why are you building and not buying?
• How can you make this home practical for your family and what you require
• What area’s of the home do you plan to spend the most time in (this allows you to understand what areas to allocate more money too)
• How many living areas, bedrooms and bathrooms would you like?
• What do you want my outdoor area to look like? Big back yard? Outdoor entertaining? Deck? etc etc

Once you have a clear view of what you want your home to look like, grab a pen and paper and get drawing…. You do not have to be an expert architect or draftsman for this exercise. A rough sketch will help you visualise how your new home could look and how you want to prioritise and take maximum advantage of the available space.

BUDGET

Before contacting a builder, supplier or designer, you need to know your budget. Work out how much you are willing to spend and then it's your job to make sure you stick to it!

BUILDER

Selecting a builder is the next big decision for you and your family to make. When it comes to selecting a builder, communication is everything! You need to find a professional who can give you regular updates on the build. Someone who will contact you with any questions, delays, expenses or weather interferences that may interrupt and extend the project. There is nothing more frustrating than not knowing what is going.

You also want your builder to be able to realistically stick to your budget. Keeping track of all of the expenses on paper will give you peace of mind throughout the process and ensure that there are no surprises at the end.

LOOK & STYLE

Start taking notice of houses, buildings, cafes and really work on what kind of style you like and how you visualise your own home looking. Work on a look that you are going to love and live with for a very long time, keeping in mind functionality and practicality for your family.

It is of course well known that for us folks here on the sunny Gold Coast the official Autumn season takes a little longer to fully kick in than for our more southern cousins. However, it just means we get that little bit more time to prepare! 

So whether you're in an area of the world where Autumn feels as though it's already well and truely hitting or, like us it's a little further off, we're here to help get you prepared! 
We're going to take you through some of our favourite quick and easy ways to bring the cosy into your home this cool season and help you warm up your space (literally and figuratively) just in time for the leaves to change! 

1. 'Warm' Colour Palette
Switching out some of those key decor pieces to incorporate a more warm toned colour palette is a great way of bringing the cosy Autumn vibes. Think those typical earthy autumn colours - reds, oranges, ambers, dark greens and browns. Easily introduced in your artwork, throws, cushions, decor pieces etc! 

2. Throw Blankets and Cushions 
As the weather cools off it's the perfect time to switch out those light, flowy throws for something a little heavier. Think thick chunky knits and fleece lining. 
This also goes for cushions too! Adding some statement cushions in those warm colours (we talked about above) in soft velvets and woven textures - not only are the comfy and cosy, but paired with your chunky throws they'll look fabulous too!

3. Floor Rugs
Much like your throws, swapping out those thinner, summery floor rugs for the thicker pile, warm toned ones helps to bring extra (literal) warmth into your space. With a range of rugs out there in various textures and weaves, and in a variety of colours, it's quick change that is not only cosy for your toes but they look great too! 

4. Candle Light
Definitely one of our favourite cosy additions... not only do they create a beautiful, cosy and calming atmosphere (and a little romance too!) but they also come in a range of gorgeous scents as well.
When choosing a 'cosy' candle, think of those deeper, natural woody scents. Great options include anything with musk, amber, spices (cinnamon bark, bergamot etc).
Plus, the added bonus with autumn/winter scented candles is the fact they are often packaged in beautiful amber or black coloured glass - perfect to tie in with the 'warm-toned' colour palette. 

5. Artwork 
The perfect finishing touch to 'cosy'ing' up your home, is bringing in some new art pieces that incorporate those warm Autumn tones. The best thing to do is match the colours in your artwork to those seen throughout your soft furnishings and decor - this will help create a cohesive and sophisticated look. 

With a variety of art pieces out there - whether painted abstract, photographed or drawn, there's sure to be one that matches your overall style, in a colour to suit your new cosy autumn/winter decor.

It's hard to believe after the year we've all had that we have almost reached the end of 2020 and that Christmas is just 2 days away! 

And even though Christmas may look a little different for many families this year, we're very lucky here in Australia that many households will be able to get together as (almost) normal! 

So whether you're someone who is planning a big, family Christmas, or something a little more low-key and relaxed we thought we'd help you out in your preparations and offer some tips and tricks for styling your home for holiday festivities, the summer season and the start of a New Year! 

Giving your home a little mini makeover can be the perfect way to welcome in the new year with a fresh look, a new colour palette and perhaps even a whole new style if you're feeling really inspired! 

Here are our 5 top tips

1. Update your Cushions and Throws...
Adding in some new fresh scatter cushions and throws on your living room seating, and even on your bed is a great and very easy way to add a fresh, new look to your space. It's the perfect time of year to swap out any of your heavier, chunkier throws and cushions with lighter, softer ones in more breathable fabrics such as linen or cotton. 

With a wide variety of colour, texture and patterned cushions and throws available, you can achieve a great stylish look by choosing a few patterns and colour tones to pair together.

2. Update your Rugs...
Much like cushions and throws, now is great to time swap out your rugs from those perhaps heavier, darker looking ones, to something a little lighter and brighter.  Rugs come in a wide variety of colours and sizes to suit your space and style and particularly for those high traffic areas, such as lounges and even bedrooms, they add a great cosy touch.

3. Update your Wall Art...
Art is a great way to add colour and texture to your space. It helps to draw the eye up and around and makes a space feel truly complete. 

Choosing pieces that suit the style of your home, in colours that compliment the scheme chosen in your soft furnishings, is the perfect way to create cohesion throughout the home.

4. Freshen up your bed linens...
The end of the year is the perfect time to freshen up your bedding. Treating yourself to some new sheets is a great way to truly give a new fresh look and feel. There is a great range of patterned and textured duvet covers out there to help complete the look. And even some great bold coloured covers available if you're feeling extra creative with your space!

5. Christmas Decor... 
Of course, we can't forget about that festive end of year touch. Updating your space for the summer holidays is the perfect start, to see you not only through the end of the year but into the new one. However, it wouldn't be complete without some festive touches! Whether you've got a family gathering planned or something low key, adding some carefully thought out Christmas decor is always a great idea. 

Our tip is to choose a colour scheme and base your decorations around that. Perhaps greens, soft whites and gold. Or deep reds, white and silver. Or blue, silver and black. The possibilities are endless! Choose a scheme that will compliment your existing furnishings and run with it. Add your personal touches with some home-made decorations (dried orange garlands are lots of fun to make and smell amazing too!) or sentimental collected items.

Coastal Look 1: GREEK ISLANDS

This first look draws inspiration from the stunning and relaxed style found throughout
the Greek Islands. 
Think ocean blues, crisp whites, hints of sandy beige, floaty linens and curved lines. Then rounding it off with lots of natural stone and wood textures throughout. 
When creating this style it's all about creating a relaxed feel through rough edges, and embracing the imperfections of raw materials. Keep it simple, minimalist and decluttered in your decor approach - less is more when creating this look in your home. 

Coastal Look 2: PALM SPRINGS

This style is based around the colours and shapes seen in and around the mid-century era. Chanel your inner 'That 70's Show' when creating this look in your home and when choosing your colour palette earthy desert tones are the way to go.
Pull in pops of bright bold colour such as yellow, oranges and greens, as well as stone features (the classic breeze block is always a great go to in this style) and curved, shapely furniture. Add in artwork and decor featuring palm trees, cacti prints (or bring in real ones!) and rough textures. 

Coastal Look 3: FRENCH PROVINCIAL

When creating this look in your home, think soft elegance with a rustic touch. This style is centred around a soft colour palette of muted greeny-blues, white and sandy beiges. It incorporates rustic touches of distressed wood (raw and/or whitewashed) and textured baskets, paired with soft linens and coastal patterns. 
VJ panelled walls or floors also feature heavily within this style and would be the perfect addition when incorporating this look in your home. Finish off the look with layered decor of textured vases, elegant shapes, coral and floral arrangements.

Display Shelves

Spring is a great time to re-organise your shelving stations. Get creative and co-ordinate your bookshelves by colour, sort them by size or even get real technical and alphabetise them! As for the rest of your display shelves throughout the home, these are a great way to create little vignettes. The best way to do this is to take everything off and build back up - make sure to dust everything as you are doing this and wipe everything clean.

Tip: Pinterest is a great place to go to get lots of shelving inspo!   

Wardrobe

If you're like us (and many other people out there), you have probably already gone through your wardrobes and made your ‘Vinnies’ pile of donate items that you no longer fit, like or use anymore - or if you haven't, definitely do this first! You could even adopt the beloved 'Marie Kondo' method of pulling everything out of the wardrobe and only putting back what truely "gives you joy".

Then, whilst everything is out of the cupboard, it’s the perfect time to go that extra little mile and clean the inside of the wardrobes - vacuum the floors, dust and wipe down the shelves, and while your at it, why not organise your remaining items?
A great visual impact is to replace all your mismatched hangers with new matching ones, colour coordinate your hanging items, refold all your garments and organise all the accessories. 

Tip: Containers or baskets are a really great way to organise accessories, belts, hats, bags etc in a neat and visually appealing way! 

Now stand back and pat yourself on the back for a job well done!

Time to cosy up for the Winter!

That cool change has ascended upon us and we are well and truly in the midst of Winter! 
Like us, are you finding it hard to get out of bed in the mornings and then just can’t wait to jump back into bed at night time? We're willing to bet that your thicker winter doona has made its way out of the linen cupboard and extra layers have been added to the bed, so you can burrito wrap yourself in them during the night!

So in honour of this cooler time of the year, this month we're here to give you some tips and simple ways to cosy up your interiors with just a few small changes...

TEXTURE

The first, and we think the most important, element to help cosy up your space! 
Although this is something we like to include all year round in our interiors, it just seems more crucial during those cooler wintery months.

Texture injects warmth to any space and can be added through different homeware pieces;

• Cushions - With countless options out there of colour, patterns and materials for cushions, these are a great quick way to change up your interior. Swap out your lighter coloured current ones and introduce warmer tones and deeper hues during Winter and don't forget to add cushions with textured detailing, like fringing, tassels etc.

We are currently loving the mix of earthy tones like ochre and neutrals, paired with the deep richness of a forest green or deep navy blues.
*Tip: Use different size cushions grouped together to give your space the illusion of depth

• Throw blankets - not only look great, but are practical too! Also another very simple way to include texture, so swap out your light linen throws for a warm chunky wool knit during Winter and make cosying up on the lounge even more enjoyable!

• Floor rugs - Although this may be a more costly change, adding a floor rug immediately adds warmth to the room, both visually and physically. 
  There are so many options out there now in terms of materials; from wool to heat-set polypropylene and jute to cotton. Gone are the days where your rug has to be plain and boring, because nowadays a patterned rug is the hero piece to a room and the inspiration to your accessory colour palette. 

CANDLE LIGHT

There is nothing more inviting than a home that smells incredible as soon as you walk through the front door. Candles come in an array of different scents, so whether you are a sweet person, you like the woody textures or you want your home smelling fresh, there is ought to be a candle out there for you! Plus, their soft warm light also creates a super cosy feel to a room.

AMBIENT LIGHTING

We love nothing more than the ambience that is provided through lamps. Whether that be a lamp sitting on a side table next to your sofa or a floor lamp positioned in the corner of a room; they are the perfect piece to style with if you want to add some mood to your interior. Remember to use a 'warm' toned bulb when creating that soft evening glow! 

Want to add texture too through lamps? Opt for a lamp that has a rattan/woven shade, this will not only be a textural change, it will also add character as the shadows play off your walls.

There we have it! Just a few, quick changes you can make in your home this month to help warm up your space. Visually and physically! 

It will make enduring those shorter days and long chilling evenings that much easier.

Tip No. 1: Get your home styled and staged!
Of course, getting your property styled is one to the best things you can do. It can make your property look significantly more attractive in photos for marketing and in real life. Though you might have to dish out some money initially, both successful sellers and top real estate agents agree that styling is a must and well worth the investment!

Tip No. 2: Make necessary repairs and upgrades! 

When it's time to sell it's important to make sure your home doesn't look half done. Though some buyers are willing to put in time and money to fix things up after they buy a property, this isn't always the case. If it's feasible, make sure everything is repaired and any rooms that are on their last legs (or quite dated) are upgraded. 

Aaron Clarke, Partner and Sales Consultant from Ray White Ferntree Gully, said "I've noticed that people are looking for something that's done rather than something that needs renovation. It used to be people would look at things and see opportunity. Now people would spend more money on something that's finished."

Tip No. 3: Make a winning first impression! 
Sellers often use so much of their efforts on making the inside of the home look good, that they forget about the outside. If you're wanting to sell a house fast then taking the exterior into consideration is crucial. Updating your home's kerb appeal doesn't need to cost you much time or money. There's no need to go crazy with all new planting and flowers, however, you do want to make sure your garden looks well maintained and your lawn is neatly mown. Even small changes such as a new lick of paint on the front door and replacing old accessories (such as outdoor lights) can make a world of difference."
