Found Midwife in Tainan!

I know this discussion was from five years ago, but for anyone who is looking, I was able to find a midwife in Tainan. Her name is Eva and her husband is a OB/GYN who owns the hospital. The hospital's name is Chen Tso Yen and it's located really close to the Costco in the North side of Tainan. She doesn't speak much English so you'll need someone who can speak Chinese to help you communicate with her. My baby girl was delivered by her and I had a really good experience with her and with this hospital. I'm Taiwanese-American and my husband is Caucasian-American and I delivered a 8 lb baby without tearing thanks to Eva and her staff. She's really passionate about natural birth (which is called gentle birth or wen-zuo shen chan here in Taiwan). She's worked with many foreign couples in Tainan who wanted to go with natural birth and even does home births too if you are willing to hire a doula to help out with the process. We opted to deliver in the hospital since she already has a staff to help her which made it more affordable for us. Doulas here cost 30,000 NT. I found her through calling Taiwan doula organization. Hope this helps other moms out there!

Most airlines also allow you to consolidate bags up to about 32kg. So if you are allowed two bags at 23kg, you can use one bag up to 32kg instead. You should check with the individual airline, though. Airline websites usually have pretty comprehensive baggage policy sections.

Just needed confirmation before going out to buy more clothes to take with me to Canada.

At least I know I can buy some extra shorts and pants before I head to Abu Dhabi in Sept.

Thanks guys for all your help! If worse comes to worse I'll just dump the old clothes into the trash (if I exceed the weight limit). However, it looks like I'll be able to use my extra duffle bag and buy some extra shirts and pants before I head back to Canada and then to Abu Dhabi!

Both EVA and China Airlines have the same criteria for trans-Pacific flights: 23 kg per each of two bags for economy class. Also, one may carry on one 7 kg bag, plus a computer bag/coat/purse. The weight allowances are higher for business class. Intra-Asian flights go by the number of pieces.
