Copenhagen Night Tour

This is Rasmus Svejdal. We went out to snap a few photos of the city Thursday this week, and I'm going to explain some of the photos I took then in this blogpost. Rasmus is a fellow DSLR enthusiast I met in gymnasium (highschool) in Slagelse, who recently moved to Copenhagen with his girlfriend.

Improvised Sweet Omurice

I made Omurice! Actually not really. To make omurice, I'd have to use a lot more ingredients. It looks like omurice, but it's really something different. What I should have said was; I tried to make omurice. For some reason I thought that omurice would typically be made with sweet egg, so what I essentially did was make a Japanese Omelet (Tamagoyaki) beating eggs with sugar and water (without dashi stock). Then I wrapped it around some rice and poured a bit of ketchup ontop. This is what it cam~

Copenhagen Time

A few days ago I received letter from the University of Copenhagen asking me to prepare for reading computer science. It's not like I expected anything else, but now it's official. During the summer, I've been to Copenhagen a few times in the belief that it might prepare me somewhat for the city. I don't really think it has, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem, since I've already lived in a much bigger city with a much more radically different population from my home region.

Ready for University

During the last two months I've been super busy with the sprint finish of gymnasium (~senior high) that is final assesment marks and exams. I between I have of course done other things than school and taken a few nice pictures too, but I've been either too busy or too lazy to do something about them. After returning home to Denmark I've started bothering to do post processing on the photos I take before I put them up, and of course this means illustrating a blog takes a bit longer.

Copenhagen sakura festival 2011

This Saturday I went with some friends to Langelinie in Copenhagen. Not far from the the little mermaid statue, a number of sakura trees, (sakura is Japanese for cherry trees,) were planted there in 2006 after having been donated by Danish Honorary Consul in Hiroshima, Mr Seiichi Takaki on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of H.C. Andersen.

Taiwanese Peculiarities

Today I decided to go looking through some of my old photos from Taiwan to find some of the more peculiar things I have stumbled upon while being in the far east. Obviously, Taiwan is a place with lots of interesting things. Many of which will seem somewhat bizarre to foreigners despite the locals being totally used to them.

Spring Concert

Every year a spring concert is held on my school. The school does not have any physical departments, but you could say that there still is a distinction between certain groups of the students and the classes they take such that there exists a group focusing very much on music. This means that concerts on the school are usually pretty good.

Made my own milk tea

Well, it's not much of an accomplishment, but I managed to make something very much like the Milk Tea or Bubble Tea that Taiwan is so famous for. Without the frog eggs unfortunately. Maybe I should see if it's possible to import some of those. First thing you need a decent tea from Eastern Asia. The most commonly used teas are Oolong Tea and Earl Grey, though Jasmine Tea is used too. (I actually made some milk tea with jasmine tea the other day.)

Sluggishness

I have really been slacking recently. With everything. Back in the last week before my winter break I had one week off for writing a big paper called SRP. It's kind of like an exam and counts like two exams from normal classes, so I really had to do my best. I think I did, although I'm still really unsure of the outcome. As soon as it was handed in, though, I just fell apart and got really tired and lazy. Might have burned out for a while right there I guess. I hope it will be over soon, becaus~

This Saturday I finally went and took some pictures again, so I'll write a bit about those and explain a hobby or activity I like to do with my friends ever once in a while.Back a few years ago I took media-classes with some classmates and we had to make a short film. The film we ended up making sucked pretty badly and got us some pretty bad grades, although it was fun to do, so we decided to keep on meeting up a weekend every month or two to be a little social while making mor~

Taiwanese Food

For a long time I've wanted to return to a Taiwanese topic, but I haven't really had the right gut feeling to do it and can't remember all of those topics that I was supposed to cover as soon I got time for it.So today I'd like to delve a bit into food. I ate lots of food in both meanings, took many good pictures of it and wrote a large share of my articles on it.

A Bit On Danish Politics

I shaked hands with the Danish prime minister the other day. And that was just after this picture was taken, back in Monday, when our prime minister decided to pay my school a visit. He's out to tour around Denmark and check if people like him or not because he needs to know if this is a good time to call for election. For in Denmark that's the prime minister's job. He has to call an election every four years but may call it earlier. (I bet plenty of countries have rules similar to that b~

Like waking from a coma

So school started again. I'm finally back in a serious type of education with homework you must make and grades you have to keep good. Not that I weren't learning in Taiwan, but at least now I will have to put a bit more effort into some things. I'm in an entirely new class of course, of people that I don't really know that much. Luckily I do know a lot of people all around the school and that have a lot of classmates whose friends I know or have in some other way previously acquainted.
