Working out at home can be very beneficial. You can wear clothes as per your comfort and you can follow your own schedule. If you think home is the best place for you to workout , the next thing to do is choosing the right equipment.

Keeping free weights in your home gym isn't a feasible option for everyone. But it should be noted that free weights like dumbells and a weight rack allow you do the most important exercises for strength – the barbell and weight based full squat. Multi-station gyms may be a good substitute for many people, but if you have the experience and space free weights are the best way to go.
Elliptical trainers offer a unique, non-impact exercise activity that almost anyone can do. The movement is very good for overall body workout. You can control the intensity by keeping the movement easy. It is the moist popular item in health clubs these days and you may want to try out several models before selecting the final one.

It all depends on what type of workouts you want and whether it all fits in your budget in the end or not. It is not necessary that you need a fancy and expensive equipment.
