LTGY Preview: Spellbook of Judgment

Any conversation about Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy will almost inevitably turn to one card: Spellbook of Judgment. Prophecy Decks have done pretty well lately: first they made the Top 32 at YCS Santiago and YCS San Diego, and then five of them were in the Top 32 in Lille, and all the while they’ve captured quite a few Regional Top 8’s. They’re a serious threat. But their ultimate Spellbook is going to take them to a totally different level come this May…

During the End Phase of the turn this card was activated, add “Spellbook” Spell Cards from your Deck to your hand, except “Spellbook of Judgment”, up to the number of Spell Cards activated after this card’s resolution, then, you can Special Summon from your Deck 1 Spellcaster-Type monster whose Level is less than or equal to the number of cards added to your hand by this effect. You can only activate 1 “Spellbook of Judgment” per turn.

When you have Spellbook of Judgment, your goal is to activate it and then play as many Spell cards as possible after Judgment resolves. For every Spell you play, you’ll get a Spellbook in your End Phase. Plus, you get a free Special Summon that gets bigger and bigger for every Spell you activated after Judgment. What does that mean? Well, let’s talk about that.

Say you started your Duel with Spellbook of Judgment and Spellbook of Secrets. If you don’t have one of those cards, but you have Spellbook Magician of Prophecy to search it out, that’s fine too. Two cards, both searchable: not a tough hand to put together.

Start by activating Spellbook of Judgment.
Then play Spellbook of Secrets to get Spellbook of the Master from your Deck.
Summon a Spellcaster monster. If you already Summoned Spellbook Magician, you’re set.
With a Spellcaster on the field, activate Spellbook of the Master to copy Spellbook of Secrets.
Use that effect to search for The Grand Spellbook Tower. Activate it.
Play the rest of your turn as you like. You might want to Set as many cards as possible, because… well, you’ll see why.

Once you hit the End Phase a few different things are going to happen.

First, Spellbook of Judgment’s effect will let you search your Deck for three more Spellbooks. With three in your graveyard, you can even search out Spellbook of Fate and use any of its effects on your next turn. Or this turn if you didn’t go first, since Spellbook of Fate is a Quick-Play.
Then, Spellbook of Judgment lets you Special Summon a Spellcaster whose Level is 3 or less.
This is the fun part: Special Summon Justice of Prophecy. Since you’re in the End Phase and you played a Spellbook this turn, you can activate Justice’s effect. Banish her to add High Priestess of Prophecy and another Spellbook to your hand. Since you couldn’t search a second Judgment with your first copy, now’s a great time to grab another one so you can do it all again next turn.

You only needed two specific cards for that combo: Judgment and Secrets. And since Secrets turned into Master which turned into The Grand Spellbook Tower, you only really gave up one card – Judgment. In return you got a whopping five cards in your End Phase: four “Spellbook” Spells of your choice, plus High Priestess of Prophecy. Next turn you’ll be able to Special Summon the Priestess for free with her effect; destroy a card with her ability; draw a card with The Grand Spellbook Tower; and banish one of your opponent’s cards with Spellbook of Fate.

…And play Judgment again.

That’s just what Spellbook of Judgment does for you if you have an average hand. Let’s add one more card to the mix.

This is the same hand we talked about in our first example, but now there’s a Toon Table of Contents with it. Toon Table is a Normal Spell: it lets you add 1 “Toon” card from your Deck to your hand. You can use one Toon Table to get another; use your second Toon Table to get your third; and the third one gets you Toon Gemini Elf. Toon Gemini can’t attack the turn it’s Summoned, but it’s a 1900 ATK Spellcaster that lets you play Spellbook of Fate. And, when it inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, they have to discard a random card.

So you play Judgment. Then you Toon Table, for Toon Table, for Toon Table, for Toon Gemini Elf. You Summon Toon Gemini, then play Spellbook of Secrets, Spellbook of the Master, and The Grand Spellbook Tower. You play any additional cards you want, and you Set everything else.

Now when you hit your End Phase stuff is even crazier, because Spellbook of Judgment doesn’t just count “Spellbook” Spells – any Spell Card will do. Since you activated at least three Spellbooks and three Toon Tables, you get to search out at least six “Spellbook” Spells to add to your hand. You can bring out Justice of Prophecy for another Spellbook and a High Priestess, or you might be able to just Special Summon the High Priestess right to the field. If you choose to go with Justice, it’s possible to end your turn with a total of six cards in hand, plus Toon Gemini Elf and The Grand Spellbook Tower on the field, plus three more cards Set in your Spell and Trap Card Zone. You’ll head into Main Phase 1 on Turn 2 with thirteen cards, tearing through half your Deck in the process. Of course, the trade-off to this is that you had to put Toon Table of Contents and Toon Gemini Elf into your Deck, cards that normally won’t make the cut outside of a Toon Deck, giving you even less room for cards other than Spellbooks. It’s still crazy when you pull it off though.

10 Companions of the Prophet who is guaranteed to go to Heaven.

Each of us would want to go to heaven. However, it is not easy to achieve. Not enough to just claim to be Muslims, need obedience and sacrifice. Look at how the attitude shown by the Companions of the Prophet SAW. Not only treasure, body and soul they were willing to dedicate to the glory of Islam. Of the many companions of the Prophet, there are ten companions who obtain assurance of heaven.

1. Abu Bakr Ash-Shiddiq
Abu Bakr Ash-Shiddiq Radhiyallahu'anhu (RA) was the first Caliph, after the Prophet died. It was the closest friend of Allah, wherever He goes, it's him. Including travel time migration of the Prophet in Mecca to Medina, a journey fraught with risk.
Since adolescence, Abu Bakr was friendly with the Prophet. It is also the first convert to Islam. Not hard for him to believe the teachings of Islam, because he knows very well degenerate greatness of Allah.

Gagagashield is the first of the 2 new Gagaga support cards you can get in the new Zexal Collection mini-tin. Gagagashield is a Trap Card that you can activate to protect your Spellcaster from destruction. Once activated, Gagagashield equips to your Spellcaster. Then, twice per turn, the monster that it’s equipped to can’t be destroyed by battle or by card effects. Defend Gagaga Magician or Gagaga Girl with Gagagashield, and you can Summon the other next turn for an Xyz Summon combo.

Even though Gagagashield is a Gagaga card, it can be equipped to any Spellcaster. That means you can use it to protect your favorite classic monsters, including Dark Magician, Gravekeeper’s Assailant, and Chaos Sorcerer, from popular cards like Dark Hole and Mirror Force. You can even use it with the new Prophecy monsters, protecting High Priestess of Prophecy so she can use her effect every turn. Use Secret Village of the Spellcasters while your Spellcaster is protected by Gagagashield, and your opponent will have an even tougher time trying to destroy your Spellcaster, since he won’t be able to activate any Spell Cards.

The tradeoff for the awesome Xyz Summons that Gagaga monsters let you do is that their ATK and DEF isn’t as high as other low-Level monsters. But don’t worry, if your opponent destroys one of your Gagaga monsters in battle, you can bring your Gagaga back with Gagagaback!

It’s no secret that Gagaga Decks thrive on Xyz Summons; but in order to perform an Xyz Summon, you’ll need to have at least 2 monsters on the field at the same time. Gagagaback lets you get back at your opponent after he destroys your monsters in battle.

Gagagaback is a Quick-Play Spell Card, so it can be activated on either player’s turn; but you can only activate it if one of your Gagaga monsters was destroyed by battle during the turn you activate it. After it’s activated, Gagagaback lets you Special Summon all of the monsters in your Graveyard that were destroyed in battle during the turn you activated Gagagaback. In the recoil, Gagagaback deals 600 damage to you for each monster you Special Summon; but that’s a small price to pay to recover your entire field and retaliate.

Note that Gagagaback brings back all of your monsters that are destroyed in battle during a single turn – not just Gagaga monsters. This lets you set up a cool combo with Mystic Tomato.

If your opponent has a monster on the field with at least 1500 ATK, you can Summon Mystic Tomato and attack into your opponent’s monster. Your Mystic Tomato will be destroyed in battle, and its effect will let you Special Summon a DARK monster with 1500 ATK or less from your Deck, including another Mystic Tomato or a Gagaga Magician. Special Summon another Mystic Tomato, and attack your opponent’s monster again to activate your Tomato’s effect. Keep Special Summoning Mystic Tomatoes from your Deck until your last one is Special Summoned to the field.

Next, attack your opponent’s monster with your last Mystic Tomato, and use its effect to Special Summon Gagaga Magician from your Deck. Finally, attack your opponent’s monster with Gagaga Magician, causing your Magician to be destroyed in battle.

Once this combo is performed, you’ll be able to activate Gagagaback to Special Summon your Gagaga Magician and all of your Mystic Tomatoes from your Graveyard. You’ll be all set to perform some powerful Rank 4 Xyz Summons.

1. Fast Facts About Oscar Pistorius
Oscar Pistorius was born in Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa on November 22, 1986 with a congenital absence of the fibula in both of his legs. His parents, Henke and Sheila Pistorius, elected to have Oscar’s legs amputated halfway between his knees and ankles when he was 11 months old.
When wearing his running blades, Pistorius stands six feet, one-and-a-quarter inches tall and weighs 177 pounds. The London Games are his first Olympics, though he’s been competing internationally since 2004.
More than 78,000 people like Pistorius on Facebook, and he has more than 52,000 followers on his Twitter account.

2. He Has Several Awesome Nicknames

Known by his unique condition and running apparatus, Oscar Pistorius has been dubbed ‘The Blade Runner,’ ‘Oz’ and ‘The Fastest Man on No Legs.’ His 2009 autobiography was also entitled ‘Blade Runner.’ Even his prosthetics — the carbon-fibre blades made by Icelandic company Ossur — have a cool name: the Cheetah Flex-Foot.

3. He Almost Didn’t Qualify For The Olympics
Pistorius needed to run the 400 meters in 45.30 seconds twice in international competition to qualify for the Olympics. He missed by two-tenths of a second: 45.52. Fortunately, the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee named him to the 4 x 400 meter relay team, which will allow him to compete in both events in London. It’s the same team that earned the silver medal in Daegu, South Korea.

4. He Had To Go To Court To Earn The Right To Compete

After a 2007 ruling from the International Association of Athletics Federations prohibited ‘the use of any technical device that incorporates springs, wheels or any other element that provides a user with an advantage over another athlete not using such a device,’ the agency determined that Pistorius had an advantage by using the blades and banned him from attempting to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Pistorius contracted law firm Dewey & LeBoeuf, who used scientific tests conducted at Rice University in Houston to successfully argued the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland. CAS upheld Pistorius’s appeal and reversed the IAAF council decision. Still, IAAF general secretary Pierre Weiss asked that the South African Olympic Committee not select Pistorius to its team, because his apparatus could potentially cause harm to himself or another runner if he were to fall during a race.

Pistorius threatened further legal action and the IAAF relented. However, Pistorius failed to qualify for the 2008 Olympics, falling just 0.70 seconds short of making the South African team.

5. He Is Already A World Champion and Record Holder
In addition to competing in able-bodied races, Pistorius dominated the Paralympic and the T44 class — meaning one leg amputated below the knee. He won gold medals in the 100 and 200 meter races at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens and in the 100, 200 and 400 meter races in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing. He has held the T44 world record in the 100, 200 and 400 meter races.

6. He Used To Love Other Sports More Than Running
While at Pretoria Boys High School, Pistorius competed in rugby, water polo, tennis and Olympic wrestling. After suffering a serious knee injury while playing rugby in 2003, Pistorius began to run as part of his rehabilitation. He was competing in international events by the end of 2004.

Heraldic Beasts were first introduced in Abyss Rising, but there weren’t enough of them to build an entire Heraldic Beast Deck until Cosmo Blazer came out! The Deck has several Level 4 monsters, and focuses on Summoning Rank 4 Xyz Monsters. With enough Heraldic cards, you can put together a pretty awesome Deck, so here are some tips to help you get started!

A Heraldic Deck focuses on Level 4 monsters, which interact with each other in order to let you Xyz Summon Rank 4 monsters. Many of them have high ATK or DEF as well so they can do well on their own.

Heraldic Beast Leo has 2000 ATK and when it’s destroyed you get to add another Heraldic Beast monster to your hand. Leo destroys itself at the end of the turn you Normal Summoned it, letting you add that second monster to your hand right away. This also helps fill your Graveyard up which will become important later.

The 1800 ATK Heraldic Beast Aberconway lets you re-use Heraldic beast monsters that you have in your Graveyard. When you have 2 or 3 copies of Aberconway in the Graveyard, you can banish one of them to return a Heraldic beast from your Graveyard to your hand.

Heraldic Beast Basilisk is a quick and easy way to eliminate opposing monsters, as any monster that battles it is destroyed after damage calculation. Heraldic Beast Eale will be one of your key cards in setting up big Xyz Summons, as you can Special Summon it from your hand when you control 2 or more Heraldic beast monsters.

You definitely want to play as many copies of Leo as you can get, and having multiples of Aberconway and Basilisk is good as well. You’ll probably want to play Eale as well, but since it’s harder to use you’ll want to play fewer copies and search them out when necessary with Leo.

Heraldic Beasts have 3 particularly strong Spell and Trap Cards which allow the Deck to make some spectacular plays. All 3 cards let you Special Summon Heraldic beast monsters and set up your Xyz Summons.

Advanced Heraldry Art targets 2 Heraldic Beast monsters in your Graveyard and Special Summons them. After that, you immediately Xyz Summon using those 2 monsters. This combines well with Heraldic Beast Leo since Normal Summoning it gives you 1 of the 2 monsters you need in your Graveyard, and Leo searches for your second monster as well. It’ll even search for another monster when you detach it as an Xyz Material!

Heraldry Reborn’s effect is simple yet powerful; all you have to do is target a Heraldic beast in your Graveyard and Special Summon it. This essentially gives you 4 copies of Monster Reborn in your Deck, and makes cards like Heraldic Beast Eale a lot easier to play.

Finally there’s Heraldry Change, a defensive option that still sets up big plays. When your opponent declares an attack, you can use Heraldry Change to Special Summon a Heraldic Beast from your hand. As a bonus you immediately end the Battle Phase, ensuring your new monster is safe.

With all the monsters you’ll have, you’ll need suitably powerful Xyz Monsters to Summon!

Number 8: Heraldic King Genom-Heritage let’s you target an opposing Xyz Monster and “copy it”. Genom-Heritage gains the name, ATK and effect of its target and the opposing monster loses its effects. It also ends up with 0 ATK so that you can take it down easily! The possibilities are endless, as you can take advantage of any Xyz Monster your opponent Summons, even “invincible” ones! When you’re out of Xyz Materials, you can replenish them with Heraldic Beast Twin-Headed Eagle’s effect, by attaching 2 Heraldic Beasts from your Graveyard.

By now you should be well on the way to completing your Heraldic Beast Deck, and only need a few cards to finish it off. Old favourites like Solemn Judgment and Heavy Storm are sure to feature, but don’t forget to choose cards that specifically support what you’re playing. Horn of the Phantom Beast would be a great option since several of your monsters can be equipped with it, and it provides a great surprise mid-battle. Heraldic Beast Unicorn can combine with Number 8: Heraldic King Genom-Heritage to revive it (albeit with no effects), and may be the final monster you need.
