Although we'd like to imagine otherwise, waiting doesn't get us very far... Your art will not happen unless you do it. And sometimes that means showing up and doing it even if you don’t know what you’re doing yet.

parents of gifted children are often raising those kids well, but I
have had too many sensitive patients who were gifted but too distressed
to ever show their talents because their parents and teachers had no
idea about how to meet the special needs of an HSC [highly sensitive child]. // Women who identify with the Great Mother, or are identified by others with Aphrodite (e.g. Marilyn Monroe), for example, or men who identify with the Hero (JFK, Martin Luther King Jr.)
will sooner or later try to do things or be expected to do things
beyond human capabilities, or be scapegoated for failing, or martyred in
some way.

“Who do you think you are? You’re not an expert!"
“It’s already been written. You’re not worthy of success.”
OK.
You get the picture, I don’t need to go on. These voices you hear
rolling over and over again in your mind are debilitating.
I
know, because you’ve told me so and because I grappled with those same
voices for years. So,
I want to share with you what works for me – and what I believe will
work for you – to help quiet these frustrating voices so you can believe
in yourself.

Not
in a patronizing way, but to the extent that they depend on you to do
good work and to lead them toward things that match their needs. You
and your just-right clients are connected through your work, the way
you market that work, and the sales conversations you have.

We resist doing what we think is wrong.
When you really get this distinction, you will understand something
about human behavior that most psychologists and professionals in the
training business still don’t understand... One example: “Yelling is the only way to get people to listen and do what you want.” That’s the belief that engenders the yelling. Given this belief, if you want to get someone to do something and they aren’t doing it, you have to yell to get results.

started out loving your chosen career – at least in the beginning. But
over time, you and your calling, well, you just grew apart. And
just like a relationship that’s gone bad, it can be hard to walk away
from a career or a small business into which you’ve put so much time and
effort to say nothing of the financial investment. Over time, you and your career just grew apart. What would your life be like if you pursued your true gifts and passions?
