Hello! I have a review of a product I received about two weeks ago. It's call Simply Smooth Xtend Kertain Repairative Magic Potion. Here is the rundown on this product from the website "Dual usage, light styling cream also acts as a leave-in conditioner and magically fixes everything! The keratin infused weightless, all purpose styling and conditioning formula benefits all hair types and will extend the life of a keratin treatment. Magic potion is applied to wet hair and magically rejuvenates by repairing elasticity and split ends. You’ll love the way it instantly detangles, smoothes, eliminates frizz and adds brilliant shine. 8.5oz; SRP: $30.00 (info provided by http://americanculturehair.com ). I have very thick hair (which I relax.) Being the PJ I am I was excited to try this product. I washed and my hair with Elasta QP Soy Soy moisture shampoo and conditioner. Then I used the product I used about ten pumps in my hair and applied it to my hair. It really did seem to help cut the blow drying time. My hair felt very good and like I has a professional blow-out. When, I run out the sample I received I would be more than willing to re-purchase this product (yes, it is that good!!) Hi, Everyone! I hope that you have been doing well since the last post. In this post I have a review for you. It's the Korres eye primer. When I received this I had just went ti Ulta and purchased the Too Face Shadow Insurance from Ulta (It was on sale...) Anyway, you know how much I love the NYX eyeshadow base. And I could not wait to try the two new bases I got. First of all I love the fact that it is made without; Parabens,- Sulfates, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, Triclosan. What it does: This primer provides a 360-degree smooth canvas around the delicate eye area, ensuring crease-proof, long-lasting eye shadow and concealer wear. Enriched with quercetin and oak extracts, it minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to provide softer skin while visibly improving skin texture. Overall, I like the product I used it for about a month. I have to say that given the long days my make-up stayed in place. I really don't have very oily lids, even though I do have oily skin. It retails for $21.00 if you are in the market for a primer this is very good one to think about.

Hello! I know that I am long over due for a post for you guys to read. This time I will be reviewing a Shampoo and Conditioner by Elasta QP. The UltraHydration Shampoo and Conditioner are from their Soy Oyl line. I came across this line by accident. I was in of a moisturizing conditioner, because all my conditioner(s) I had, ALL had protein in them. Well anyway, I went to Sally Beauty Supply and they had this brand on sale last month. (2/$12.00) So I picked the regular moisturizing and the deep conditioner. OMG...you guys first the conditioner of these products are HUGE. 33 oz. (that is a liter of product) for $6.00 a piece. Now, normally the products are on sale for $7.99 (Now that is STILL a good deal on these items when they are not on sale.)
Okay so let me tell you my hair is dry and course. And it needs ALL the moisture it can get. Let me tell you the Shampoo is amazing. It lathers up very well and smells wonderful. It gives your hair a good amount of clean which does not strip the hair. I used the shampoo for 2 lathers. The Conditioner also is a very good product. It too, smells good. It gives your hair a good feeling/ provides your hair with slip (which is a good way of saying that it not stripping the hair) I applied the conditioner and I used the size of a quarter (maybe a bit more~ I can be a bit heavy handed when I use conditioner) I left the conditioner in for about 15 minutes. And then rinsed it out. Whoa Nelly, it was wonderful. Blow-dried my hair and it was very soft, and full swing. And given the fact that I live in the south and it's summer. My hair was not dry and fried after the first few days of washing it. Overall, I have no complaints about the line. It's budget friendly, smells good and above all it works! I would not tell you about this if I did not like it. They have a complete of products that you can locate at your local beauty supply stores and Sally's beauty supply stores also carry the line. (FYI: if you don't see the line in your local beauty supply or Sally's double check to see if they can order it for you. ***Also be aware that the local beauty supply may charge more for the products than Sally's would. Use sunscreen and lip balm regularly to protect yourself from the harmful rays of the sun. It’s easy!

Sunscreen Basic Info

Always choose and use a sunscreen that is:

An SPF 15 or higher
Broad-spectrum (protects from both UVA and UVB rays)
Waterproof or Sweatproof

Application tips

Apply the sunscreen generously to all exposed skin – most people do not use enough sunscreen and therefore do not get the maximum protection.
Reapply every two hours, and even more frequently if you are sweating, getting wet, or are in a windy climate.
Apply 30 minutes before going outside.

*Besides protecting you from sunburn, sunscreens help to prevent other skin damage related to sun exposure, such as premature aging and pre-cancerous growths.

Lip Balm

Always wear a lip balm with an SPF 15 or higher – remember that your lips can burn just like the rest of your skin.
Reapply often!

*Lip balm not only protects your lips from burning, but the moisture helps to prevent chapping and dryness as well.
Using sunscreen is an effective way to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV rays. However, since sunscreen cannot block all UV rays and many people do not apply it correctly, you should always practice additional sun safe behaviors such as wearing protective clothing and seeking shade when possible.

Definition and Workings of Sunscreen:

Sunscreen is a lotion formulated with unique chemical components to absorb UV light.
When sunscreen is applied to the skin, the chemical molecules form an invisible, protective layer on the skin that protects from penetrating UV rays.
All sunscreens protect from UVB rays, but only “Broad-Spectrum” sunscreens protect from both UVB and UVA rays.
UVB rays affect the top layers of the skin and are responsible for Burning.
UVA rays affect the lower layers of the skin and are responsible for Aging.
Remember to always buy a sunscreen that is broad-spectrum!

SPF... What’s it All About?

SPF stands for “Sun Protection Factor.”
Always wear a sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher!
SPF was developed to describe the amount of protection that a sunscreen provides. No sunscreen can protect your skin from all of the UV rays, but a higher SPF number indicates protection from more rays.
The SPF number tells you how much longer you can stay outside without burning while wearing the sunscreen product as opposed to not wearing any sun protection product. SPF measures “time to burn.”

SPF Math

SPF Number x Time to Burn Without Sun Protection = Time to Burn while wearing sunscreen*
*assuming that sunscreen is applied properly
Example: If your skin would burn in 10 minutes in the afternoon sun without any sun protection, and you applied a sunscreen with an SPF 15, you would have 15 x 10 = 150 minutes (2.5 hours) before you would burn.
Percentage of Protection from damaging UV rays:
SPF 15 = 92%
SPF 30 = 97%
SPF 40 = 97.5%

There is some controversy about very high SPF numbers and just how much more protection they provide. As you can see from the percentages of protection of the different SPF numbers, the difference in UV ray protection in SPF numbers becomes minimal as the number increases past about 30 or 40. The difference of protection between SPF 15 and SPF 30 is great (5%), but the difference between SPF 30 and SPF 40 is minimal (0.5%).

The Confusing Part About Sunscreen

Many people think that SPF values can be added. Actually, SPF values cannot be added – if you apply a sunscreen of 8 and then one of 12, you will not have the protection of an SPF 20. You will only be getting the protection of an SPF 12.
Reapplication only helps to ensure that you have the amount of protection and time before you burn that you calculated when you first applied sunscreen that day. Since no sunscreens can protect your skin from all UV rays, some rays will get through.
After your calculated “time to burn” has expired, your skin has absorbed all the UV rays that it can handle before it will start to burn. Even if you reapply sunscreen at this point, you will still burn because some rays will get through to your skin and your skin has already been saturated with UV. Therefore, you need to get out of the sun at this point and let your skin rest before exposing it to more rays.
Reapplication only ensures that you have your original time outside – sunscreen can wear off because of sweat, wind, and other factors you need to reapply in order to be protected.
So what’s the lesson to be learned about sunscreen? If you know that you will be in the sun for a long period of time, start with a higher-SPF sunscreen in order to have protection for the entire time that you are exposed.

Sunscreen vs. Sunblock

Sunscreen contains chemicals that absorb UV rays before they damage the skin and sunblocks contain particles that physically block UV rays from reaching the skin.
Sunscreen needs to be applied about 30 minutes before sun exposure so that the chemicals have time to soak into your skin and form a layer of protection.
Sunblock does not need to be applied before going into the sun – it will begin to work as soon as you rub it on because it sits on top of the skin.

Environmental Factors Related to Sunscreen Performance

Certain conditions can actually increase the intensity of UV rays and put you at greater risk for skin damage. These conditions may also decrease the time that sunscreens keep you safe in the sun:

Higher altitudes
Low latitudes
Clear, sunny days
Mid-day sunshine (10am-3pm)

When any of these factors are present, you should be sure to wear a sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher and re-apply your sunscreen every 2 hours – or better yet, minimize UV exposure by wearing cover-up clothing, a hat, sunglasses or goggles, and seeking shade when possible.

Sunscreen Use

Always make sure that your sunscreen is SPF 15 or higher, “broad-spectrum,” and waterproof or sweatproof.
A generous amount of sunscreen should be applied to all exposed skin (do not forget your ears and the back of your neck.) In the summer, it is recommended to use one ounce of sunscreen – the amount to fill a shot glass – to cover your exposed skin.
Allow at least 30 minutes for your sunscreen to absorb before you head into the sun so that the chemicals can form a protective shield.
Be sure to reapply another layer of sunscreen if you will be in the sun for more than 2 hours throughout the day under intense UV conditions, and especially when it’s windy or you’re sweating.

Incorporating Sunscreen Into Your Daily Routine

You can make sunscreen application easy to remember by making it a part of your day-to-day routine, like brushing your teeth. Keep a bottle of sunscreen with your other toiletries and apply it every day.
Women are lucky since many lotions and make-up products now include sun protection with an SPF of 15. Seek out these products and you can easily protect your skin from damaging UV rays.

Types of Sunscreen

Some people complain that certain types of sunscreens make them break-out, are too oily, or cause allergies. Improvements in sunscreen over the years have eliminated many of these problems. If you have sensitive skin, look for sunscreens that are:

PABA-free (PABA is a chemical that some people are allergic to – most sunscreens are now PABA-free.)
Noncomedogenic or oil-free sunscreens (will not clog pores.)
Sprays, lotions, gels, etc. – sunscreen comes in many different forms to suit various preferences.

People with a good sense of humor increased their odds of survival by 31 percent, according to a 2006 Norwegian study of critically ill patients. When something strikes you as funny, your body produces less aging stress hormones, explains Dr. Bruce Rabin, medical director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's Healthy Lifestyle Program.

~ Pop Five Pills

People over 70 with a lot of friends live an average of 22 percent longer than those with few personal connections, a 10-year Australian study found.

The more naturally colorful your diet, the healthier it is. Vibrantly hued fruits and veggies are loaded with antioxidants, says Dr. Mark Liponis, medical director of Canyon Ranch resorts and author of Ultra Longevity. Fill your grocery cart, lunch bag, and dinner plate with a ROYGBIV array of produce.

~ Aim for Your Optimal Weight

Sticking close to your teenage weight is good for your health and your vanity. Gaining a lot between the ages of 18 and 40 is particularly dangerous because "every 10 percent increase in weight raises blood pressure, and high blood pressure is one of the major factors affecting aging," says Dr. Roizen. Plus, lowering your daily caloric intake by 10 to 20 percent seems to be linked to a longer life, says Dr. Terry Grossman, co-author of Transcend: Nine Steps to Living Well Forever.

~ Do Some Good

People who volunteer live longer and have fewer overall health problems, including depression and heart disease, than those who don't, according to a 2007 review of more than 30 studies. "It's a way to make friends and build social networks, and it gives people a sense of purpose," Dr. Rabin says.

~ De-Stress with Intimacy

Sex has been linked to lower blood pressure and a heartier immune system. "It relaxes you and helps strengthen your relationship with your partner, which in turn increases longevity," explains Dr. Grossman. To wit, one study found that women who said they enjoyed sex lived longer than those who didn't.

~ Finish Those Annoying Tasks

The burden of leaving a lot unfinished on your to-do list—think de-cluttering closets or paying a stack of bills—can have the same cumulative impact on health as a major life event like divorce or a death, research has shown. This sort of generalized stress can age you the equivalent of eight years, Dr. Roizen says.

~ Hit the Sack

Seven to eight hours of shut-eye a night is ideal, research shows. "Sleep deprivation increases the risk of heart disease, obesity, and diabetes, and weakens your immune system," explains Dr. Liponis. To achieve the deepest rest, he recommends sleeping in a cool, pitch-dark room—use eyeshades for a blackout effect if you need to.

Hi, Everyone! Today I have a review for you. Sometime ago I order the Brush Guard(s) from Coastal Scents. (OMG I LUV that site.). I had seen these things being used by Michelle Phan on youtube in one her of videos. (I can't remember which one so....I am not even going to act like I do.) I was on coastal scents site and I noticed that they carried them. I order the variety pack. (which is good because it has the guards for you eye, blush, face and etc brushes). From the first time I used them I was instanly in love with them. I use them when I am cleaning my brushes to dry them right side down in a cup. ~ Argan oil fights wrinkles due to premature aging, in particular crow’s feet (wrinkles under the eyes).

Applying Argan oil

It is non-greasy and non-oily and absorbs into the skin readily and does not leave any oily feel if used in the appropriate amount. It can also be used as a base for make-up because of its non-oily nature.
For nails, an equal mixture of lemon juice and Argan oil is all that is needed. Dip your nails and cuticles into the mixture for about 10 minutes. The treatment will increase the softness of cuticles and strengthen the nails.
On the scalp drop the oil into the desired area and rub in. It can also be used as a conditioner for hair. Use a small amount and run your fingers through your hair.

Hey! I am back with some more tips for you....Enjoy!

~ Have you ever had candle wax spill onto your carpet? The best way to clean up the spill is by first, remove any excess wax that you can without disturbing the carpeting pile. Cut a paper grocery bag to make a flat surface large enough to fully cover the spill, and place over the wax. With a warm (not too hot!) iron, press down on the bag and move in small circles. The wax should liquefy, creating a grease-like stain that will appear on the bag. Continue moving the bag to a new clean area, and then repeat until all of the wax attaches itself to the bag.
If there is extra-stubborn residue remaining, you can try applying an ice cube to re-harden the melted wax, then repeat the process. ( Note: For berber carpets, be sure not to tug at any of the fiber loops as that can cause a run that can span the length of the carpet!) ***PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN USING THE IRON MAKING SURE THAT DOES COME IN CONTACT WITH YOUR SKIN. AND MAKE SURE THAT WHEN USE IT ON YOUR CARPET THAT YOU ALWAYS PLACE IT OVER THE BROWN PAPER BAG AND NOT DIRECTLY ON YOUR CARPET. ~How to look good in natural light
1. Apply in actual daylight if ppossoble: find the nearest window facing the sun and prop up a standing   mirror or buy a desktop lamp witha 'daylight' bulb.
    2. Mix foundation with a skin cream: Moisturizer blends so well with any make-up.
    3. Stipple foundation on a fluffy, buffing syntheic brush: the finish is super-understated.
    4. Blush is so flattering: powder formulas in particular have a delicate sparkle and versatility.
    5. Brighten your eyes with plae yellow: Line your eye with a pale yellow eyeliner if they are tired or red-looking. (Info provided by: Lucky Magazine May 2010)

~ Remove ink stains with glycerin:
   1. First, check the clothing label: this works on washable fabrics ONLY. Then place a clean cloth underneath the stain, inside the garment, to prevent seepage.
   2. Dip a cotton swab into the solution- you just need a tiny bit!- and rub carefully on the stain for couple of minutes.
   3.Finally, mix a few drops of gentle laundry detergent (like woolite) with a small amount of water. Apply to the stain with a fresh swab until in lathers, then wash the garment in cold water. (Info provided by: Lucky Magazine February 2010)
