“Usually.” Dixon lowered his tea. “I saw you and what you ordered and noticed little things about you. You’re the way you are with people, although you’re shy and don’t want to interact. You try.” He paused. “Yet I never actually noticed you. Never realized…”

Reginald waited for him to finish but when he didn’t. “What?”

“That you were so damn cute.” Dixon frowned.

“That’s what a man likes to hear. He’s cute. Then said person who says it frowns. So great for the ego.” Reginald said dryly.

He took out Dixon’s sandwich then grabbed his and leaned back against the loveseat.

“I didn’t mean it like that.” Dixon protested as he unwrapped his sandwich.

“Then how did you mean it?” Reginald took a bite of his bagel.

He hummed as the cinnamon bagel and strawberry cream cheese filled his mouth. Dixon went still beside him. Reginald looked at him. He inhaled as he met those intent stormy grey eyes. The need in them made Reginald want to do all sort of things. And none of them should be done in public. Well except for maybe one, if he could keep it tame. Before he lost his nerve Reginald leaned closer making it deliberately slow so Dixon could stop him if he didn’t want too. Dixon just watched him come closer. Reginald went in and he kissed him gently. Dixon opened and Reginald stroked his tongue into his mouth and the taste of his Sultry Strawberry tea filled him. Reginald swipe his tongue taking in that taste and what was uniquely Dixon. It was a heady rush. Reginald pulled back slightly before he got carried away. Dixon stared a small smile on his lips.

“I guess you decided what to do about me then?”

Reginald stiffened. He hadn’t, he’d just went with his baser instinct. Yet it had felt right at the time.

“No, no, my geeky, sexy man. You kissed me and there is no going back.” Dixon smiled wide. “I’ll leave it up to you to decide when we’ll go out. Give you some time…for now. But I’m not a patient man when I want something.”

Reginald couldn’t resist. He kissed him briefly again before sitting back.

“Ok.” Reginald tried to still his racing heart. He was way outside what he was used too.

From time to time there’s multi-part Interlude’s that go together. I think of it as a Interlude Serial and I name them. The below Interlude Serial Perceptions Unveiled features the books at the time I wrote these Interlude’s that were available in my Impressions series. Eventually when books are released in the Impressions series an Interlude might be written and if it is it will be added to the Perceptions Unveiled Interlude Serial. So this Interlude Serial is a continuous one (at my discretion/time permits).

Perceptions Unveiled is a multi-part Interlude Serial and best read in order for the most enjoyment. They are usually in order of the Impressions series for which they are written about (unless otherwise noted).

“When you said let’s have some fun. This wasn’t what I imagined. “Nobel studied the room filled with boxes.

“It’s like digging through treasure.” Savage laughed.

“More like digging true crap that you forgot you had and just stuck in a room.” Noble stared. “Maybe there was less boxes and they decided to get freaky. Then they had babies then the babies grew up and the babies had babies. Because I can swear just looking at them now they seem to be multiplying.”

“You have a very over active imagination. Although…” Savage smacked him on the arm. “You’re making me imagine that they’re getting to be more and more. Stop it.”

“I didn’t do a thing.” Noble sighed. “We might as well just get it over with. It’s not like there’s a box genie that would figure out what this crap is. Then take care of it.”

“You keep saying crap.” Savage rolled his eyes. “If I recall I’m not the only one who has stuff in this room.”

“Well… fine. It’s both our crap and we need to figure out what to do with it.” Noble stepped forward and reached for the first box.

Savage entered and also took a box. Soon they were in a rhythm of emptying boxes and figuring out what to do with things.

“This is interesting.”

Noble looked up as Savage spoke. Seeing him looking into a box Nobel walked over to see what he was looking at. When he saw what was inside he reached for it.

“I haven’t seen this in a long time.” He pulled out a bunch of items and smiled at each one. “Man this brings back memories. Hours of fun with the family, friends and whoever we could con into playing.” He chuckled. “There was many competitions with these.”

“I love this game.” Savage said.

“Chinese Checkers is a good one. Although it’s fun with more players you can play with two.” Noble glanced at him.

At the look on Savage’s face Noble debated a moment. Then he pivoted and headed for the door.

“I’ll get the snacks.”

“I’ll get the game set up.” Savage said from behind him.

Noble paused in the doorway and looked back at the partially empty room. Then he shrugged. He headed out the door with Savage close behind him.

“We can finish it another day.” Noble said. “And you know you were right. The boxes did have treasure. Many classic treasures. I think I have more boxes somewhere in here with more classic games.”

“That’s a good incentive to get through the boxes.” Savage snorted. “When there’s something to look forward to you get stuff done.”

“Classic treasures will get amazing results.” Noble headed down the hallway. “Although if we stop to play the games as we find them it might take longer.”

“That’s okay we have all the time to do it.” Savage chuckled. “I wonder how many people we can entice to take part in our classic treasures.”

“You do know we have some competitive folks.”

“Hell I’m competitive.” Savage snickered. “I’m going to wipe the floor with you in Chinese checkers.”

“Bring it.” Noble turned to him and walked backward narrowing his eyes.

Reginald studied his bookshelf and narrowed his eyes. “A book is missing.”

“How do you even know? You have so many.” Dixon who stood beside him said.

“Bite your tongue. There’s no such thing as too many books.” Reginald glared at Dixon.

“Okay.” Dixon said cautiously.

“That’s the tone you use when I get intense about books.”

“Yep.” Dixon smiled.

“And that’s the face you use when you realize you have not shown the proper reverence to books.” Reginald checked again. “Yeah there’s a book missing. I haven’t lent anyone a book.” He glanced at Dixon.

“I might have.” Dixon smiled sheepishly. “I know your rule about lending books. I followed it all but might have forgotten one tiny thing.”

“To tell me.” Reginald said dryly.

“Yep. That.” Dixon hugged him. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s ok.” Reginald sighed. “When are they returning it? And who did you lend it to?”

“Ummmm…maybe more than one tiny thing.” Dixon rubbed his back. “It’ll be ok.”

“It’s fine.” Reginald tried to relax.

It wasn’t a big deal. It was fine. He glanced at the shelf where the missing book should be.

“I’ll be right back.” Dixon kissed him on the cheek then walked away.

“Where are you going?” While I’m having a meltdown about my missing book he added silently.

“I’m off to do a book caper.” Dixon paused in the doorway. “You’re not going to relax until the book is back. And I’m not going to be sleeping on the couch…again.”

“That was because you lent the book to someone I told you was on the no book lending list. They don’t appreciate books. They are on the list for a reason. They bend the corner of the pages and messed up the cover.” Reginald defended.

“And I learned my lesson for that.” Dixon said. “I’m not disputing I was wrong in that case. Like I’m acknowledging I might not have followed stuff in this case. That’s why I’m doing a book caper. Getting the book back even if I have to break in to get it.”

“I don’t want you to get in trouble.” Reginald bit his lip. “May I come with you?”

“Trouble is fun. And a book caper is always fun with company.” Dixon smirked.

“Ok.” Reginald walked over and joined him in the doorway. “What does one wear to a book caper?”

“You look good the way you are.” Dixon grabbed his hand.

“Are you sure? I feel like I’m underdressed.” Reginald frowned.

Dixon laughed. “Come as you are. Let loose and come on a book caper with me.”

Reginald looked at him smiling. “I’ll follow you anywhere. Book caper here we come.”
