“You know I might believe you’re interested in me if you didn’t look so pained about it.” Forester rolled his eyes. “You’re asking me out but yet you look like you’re about to do something you regret.”

“I am.” He smiled. “Hi, Forester Savage, I Gilbert Harmon want to go out on a date with you.”

“And again, you sound very pained by the thought.” Forester studied the tall African-American man then. “And that doesn’t bode well for any idea of the date. And I’m curious why now.”

“I am pained dammit.” Gilbert smoothed an escaping kinky curl from his tightly braided hair. “As to both the pained and why now. I’ve been watching you….”

“And that doesn’t sound all wrong for a cop to say. You’ve been watching me.” Forester shook his head. “Dude you are so bad at convincing someone to go on a date with you.”

“I am.”

Forester stopped surprised he admitted it.

“I don’t date,” Gilbert said. “Clarifying that. I don’t put this much effort into dating. Usually…” He coughed.

“Let me guess. You’re a sexy man and when men find out you’re a police officer, they either want to make you theirs, or on the other hand, there are some who walk away not being able to deal with you being a cop. So…back to the first set. You don’t have to try too hard to get a man seeing how you look and all.”

“You think I am sexy.” Gilbert smirked.

“And that’s all you got out of what I said.” Forester shook his head. “We are so going to have to work on your listening skills.”

Gilbert came around the table Forester stilled. He appreciated the predatory elegance of Gilbert’s walk. It always made him wonder how he would move in bed.
