The app was supposedly to be officially launched with the Samsung Galaxy S3, but a sneaky developer from xda got his hands on the APK of the file from the demo unit of the S3, and made available on the net before its time. The only difference found in the iPhone/iPad version from the Android version is the scrolling of pages. In the iPhone the pages turn sideways giving a book sort of effect while the Android version kind of lives up  to its name “flipboard” and actually flips up like a note pad.  I’ve personally tested the app on my Galaxy S2 and it works like a charm, the scrolling well flipping in this case is very smooth and makes reading news more appealing.

Verizon have stated that this summer they are going to finish off their unlimited data plan, starting this summer. The $30 unlimited plan is considered to be grandfathered and does not have space in their future plans. According to Fran Shammo CFO of  Verizon  Communications the customers who are currently using the 3G unlimited data plan, when they migrate to the 4G LTE network will be forced to change their data plan.

The data switch is expected to be around mid summer, AT&T have already started to do this, which have angered a number of customers, and now Verizon is doing the same. The plan may not pan out as well as they expect it to.

CFO Fran Shammo said

“LTE is our anchor point for data share, so as you come through an upgrade cycle and you upgrade in the future, you will have to go onto the data share plan, moving away from the unlimited world,” “A lot of our 3G base is on unlimited. When they migrate off 3G they will have to go to data share. That is beneficial to us.”

According to Mr. Shammo, the new data plan will be more beneficial for customers, as they can add more devices to the network, which would be better if you have a family or running a small business.

People have started to stipulate, that this change will not be readily accepted by most customers, and Verizon might end up losing a few customers to if they prefer having the unlimited package. At this point only Sprint is offering one, so if your a Verizon customer do let us know what you think about this change and will you continue using this network.

Gaikai will work on all types of displays

First-generation cloud gaming platforms suffer from long latency or lag, low-quality graphics and high costs because of a 1:1 ratio of game streams to data center servers. NVIDIA GeForce GRID technology resolves these obstacles and will make game streaming as common as renting a movie online.

NVIDIA’s Kepler chip allows for virtualized GPUs so a single server can power thousands of low-latency remote displays. Gaikai has designed custom servers and distributed them in data centers across the globe, and they claim to offer the lowest latency, highest quality experiences possible.

To demonstrate the technology in action Gaikai showed off an upcoming game called Hawken that was running on the ASUS Transformer Prime. This first-person shooter mech game looked amazing and it easily topped anything we have ever seen on Android. The developer Adhesive Games says Hawken will be available on December 12th, but we expect Gaikai and other games should hit Android before then.

Right now we don’t have a release date for Gaikai on Android, but I highly suggest you play with their Facebook app for a quick demo. I just wasted a good 30 minutes playing Dead Rising 2, and I can’t wait for this service to come to Android devices. Mozilla has been really working its socks off this year, first releasing Boot to Gecko, Mozilla’s very own OS (Alpha-Beta Version). Now, they’ve launched their famous Web Browser “Firefox” for the Android world. Currently it is a beta build, but can be found on the Play Store.

This is the latest version of the list of Firefox browsers that had previously surfaced in the market, But those were all built on a XUL interface. This new version though has been revamped to a native Android user interface. Mozilla finally launching its Browser on the Play Store signifies, that they finally made a stable build. The browser is visually very appealing and they have boosted up the load and performance speeds, which was highly anticipated. The browser on any Android device works like a charm, though devices with Android 2.2+ is recommended for optimum experience. You can download the app from the Play Store.

Samsung:

According to most of the analysts at the event the Samsung Galaxy SIII was considered the best phone of the event. It was showcased first time after its official launching in the UK, this past week. The SIII shows off a massive 4.8-inch HD AMOLED screen, 8-Mega Pixel camera with some nifty new features, a quad core processor and a power house of a battery (2100 mAh). The phone will surely be hard to beat this year, when you also take into account its enhanced voice features (S-Voice). They were also featuring their new Focus 2 smartphone with Windows OS and LTE capabilities.

HTC:

They continued to show off their One Series Devices showing off its “advanced camera capabilities” and Beats Audio enhancement solution which they had previously showed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Huawei:

They continued to be one of the most “visible” vendors at the event, continuing on a similar theme as the CES and MWC, showing off their smartphone and tablet range.

LG:

LG brought to the show a number of Android devices with various price ranges. Also present were LG partner solutions such as Google Wallet enabled Mid-ranged devices allowed for NFC based transactions. PLUM:

This company is relatively unheard, it used to make Dual-sim phones for the Latin America region, and is based in Miami,Florida. Currently its products are distributed by CLC Miami, but PLUM envisions itself to be partnered with US carriers to sell dual sim no contract phones. PLUM device ranges are from “dumb” phones, to 5-inch phablets (like the Galaxy Note) and fully voice capable 7-inch Tablets.

Mozilla Firefox OS:

This was from the Mobile companies, now lets move on to software, one in particular really intrigued us, that was Mozilla’s Firefox OS, called “Boot-to-Gecko”. The interface is similar to that of a Windows Mango OS with a tile user interface, but the major difference is that it runs on the internet and uses HTML5. The OS is to be launched in Brazil in Q1 of 2013. Its store is called “Persona”, as this is just an-alpha build it is purely an online phone at the moment. Mozilla will later on allow users to choose the apps (bookmarks) they want to use offline. The build instructions at the moment have been made available for the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy S2.Till then enjoy this hands on video:

By now we are all aware of the fact that the HTC One X has got one of the best cameras along with a wide range of new and amazing features. We ll if you have already heard about it all, here’s something new and interesting to add to its already impressive line of Mobi-Cam capabilities. Recently discovered by ePrice on YouTube, the phone apparently features a remote shutter for its camera that’s activated with some Bluetooth headsets.

Using a Bluetooth headset, the phone’s shutter can be triggered remotely for hands-free photo capture. The video demonstrating the capability shows three different headsets performing the task, each using a not-so-intuitive button combo to snap off photos. Other Bluetooth headsets are also supported once they get fully configured with the phone.

According to reports coming in from all over  the update is available for OTA (over the air) download. According to German users the update has not come via OTA yet, but not to worry they can download the update via Samsung Kies.The firmware build is XXLPY, which is android 4.0.3. The update will definetly take a while to reach users all around the globe. The Galaxy Note carrier branded versions will take time depending on when their carrier approves from Samsung. The reviews for whats new in the the Note with the ICS update will surely been given soon. Till then guys wait for the update to come. The wait will be worth it. Android has been soaring in the market for quite a while now toppling over Giants, the smart phones are being sold like hot cakes, the problem Google is having though is boosting the success of its Google TVs. The problem arises as this technology is purely new and is still considered to be in beta mode at the moment, even though Google TV’s 2.0 has come up with major improvements,but Google will not stop there and is constantly trying to improve on it.

Google in order to establish its Google TV’s in the market, joined hands with Sony, in a meetup/press conference in Palo Alt0, California, they unveiled their next generation Sony Google TVs and also talked about the platform.

The panel present there talked mostly about the nature of Google TV and what it has in store for us in the future (though they didn’t say much). The main attraction of the meet up was a non-working prototype of a new Sony set top box. The box comes with a next-generation remote, which has never been seen before with any of Sony’s previous TV’s or set tops.

As is was still a prototype version, they did not mention much about the specs, but the new remote is uniquely double sided, with a keyboard on one side and a track pad and buttons on the other. The set top box would bring the Google Experience on any TV, and would be available by summer, stated the Sony team.

If you are a gamer and own an Android device, then surely you must be familiar with the sci-fi shooter from Gameloft, called NOVA. Gameloft have released news that there will be a third installment in this sci-fi saga.  Details of this game have not been given out yet by Gameloft, though they have been keeping press-conferences stating, that further information will be provided soon.  Gameloft have kept most of the news in wraps but have taken out two teasers of the game, the 2nd one shows the actual game play footage. The wallpapers look very sharp and look really nifty on your phone. You will sure to find your favorite super hero there, with a bunch of oldies which you all might have forgotten. The wallpapers look really good with the Android phones running ICS or have an ICS theme on them. I myself am a huge fan and, this is how it looks on my Galaxy S II.
