Ok so with the pending game at Spuds this week, the media has made reference to Sol returning and all that goes with him playing there. What’s on my mind though is the fact that he is an Arsenal player once more. I remember Wenger having a policy of not signing players that we sold and with the signing of Sol i wondered who I would like to see back in the Red and White.

Well the first name that comes to mind would be Mr. Arsenal, Thierry Henry. If he could ever replicate his form of course. This last season at Barcelona has seen him start to taper and i wonder if time on his illustrious career is coming to a close. This brings me to a point i want to make clear. I really want to compile a list of players that are still in their prime. We do not need dead weight at the moment.

Next up would be Alex Hleb. Yeah i know he did shite by going to Barca and now he’s on loan at Stutgart but the season before he left we saw him play like never before. Sadly his talent is wasting away with another clubat the moment but I think he would be a strong reinforcement for the middle of the park, seeing as we depend on Fab4 to do all or most of the creative work in the middle.

Mathieu Flamini is another one i would like back at the club. After showing his abilities in his last season with us I think he would definitely be good to help cover when Song is injured or filling in for an injured defender. If not the Flamster then we could quite possibly use Diarra, but both of them left for first team football and with Song in the form he is in I think they would have to hold a nice spot on the bench.

Jose Antonio Reyes. This boy showed immense talent and i thought he was going to be the next best thing. Oh when he left i was really sad. Why? I’d just purchased his jersey! No but seriously i thought he had a sweet left foot. Something that is hard to find. Henry mentioned him in an interview as someone with real promise. Sadly he is another one that left Arsenal to find that the grass is always greener over a cesspit! Sadly i don’t think he would even make Spain’s national team now, when he was an automatic choice whilst at Arsenal.

The last player i would like to see back would be Gilberto. Honestly I still don’t understand why we sold him. The man was in the hottest form ever, Captain of Brazil, our stand in captain, scoring at will it would seem and not to mention one of the best defensive midfielders we have had at the club. Okay with Song there we don’t need him as much but i put this forward, how many goals does he(Song) score?

So that’s it my list of players i won’t mind coming back. Just a side note.. players i don’t want to see back would be Ashley Cole(this issue is never going to sit right with me), David Bentley(this punk is playing for Spurs) and Emmanuel Adebayor(what a wanker!). So what do you think? Who would be on your list?

All the hype about Kaka and Ronaldo going to Real this summer was just erased byt a master performance by the 22 year old Lionel Messi. I think he is by far the best player on the planet. If there was some doubt about his class before last night i think he erased it. Ok so his goals were not acrobatic or solo runs from his own half but to score 3 goals in a game is a feat in itself, let alone 4, and even more in a UCL quarter final game against Arsenal! I am an Arsenal die-hard, and even I have to admit that his class is way above anything we have produced in the last decade. Even the Iceman, DB, can’t compare to Messi at the moment. (i know that sounds like blasphemy).

Even Wenger is quoted as saying “Barcelona is more than Messi. They have other players in the team who are top class. They are an exceptional team with an exceptional player and in the exceptional games the exceptional players make the difference.” And that is the truth he is an exceptional player. At the Emirates a week ago he seemed subdued. but with the absence of Ibrahimovich he really took the game and mad it his. After Arsenal scored the opener i figured the game would have started to pick up a feverish pace, i just didn’t expect it to be Messi fever! I think with that said I wouldn’t begrudged anyone for thinking that Barcelona is going to win this entire competition now. That said, I believe he would go on and take all the awards this season, World player, European player, South American Player, Asian Player, African Player… i think they should all just hail the master that he is.

A a young age he has some good years ahead of him, in which i am sure he is going to terrorize defenses around the world, and with that in mind i think with the likes of him, Aguero and Tevez, Argentina must count as one of the faves for this summer’s tournament. I hope they all stay fit for the next few months and produce in South Africa. Oh the excitement!

Well that’s about all i have for today. Peace out Homies!

It is fair to say that Burnley deserved a win earlier this week. It is fair to say United looked dreadfull infront of the newcomers. What is fair is that last Saturday United returned to their devilish ways by dropping a bomb on Wigan. The trio of attacking options all found the net with Wayne Rooney in particular looking especially good. If they can continue to share spoils between them we would all have to agree Ronaldo was just child’s play and a new Era, the Era of Rooney, true Britsih talent, has arrived.

I been contemplating this question for the major part of the season and sadly the only team I can come up with is Manchester United. Now the question is “How many titles will they win?”.

They have already won the world club championship and the carling cup. Now their quest for the BPL seems all but in the bag, cosidering that Liverpool have basically lost the plot just after the new year. Chelsea however seem to be the main contenders to the chase, by turning around their season after the departure of Big Phil.

The Champions league of course is not a surety. ManU have to get pas Inter in a battle which seems to have epic written all over it. And after that who knows. Manu have not scored in the first leg but Sir Alex vows to come out guns blazing.

Finally the FA Cup. As I type this ManU leads Fulham 3-0 and sad to say it looks like Fulham has given up. So their quest for this title is still alive.. Just the Semi final and Final to win it would seem. oops 4-0…

Should we hand them all the titles already? or should we hope for the slip up… Only time will tell i GUESS.. hope the other teams don’t just roll over and give the titles to them.

Manchester United is back to winning ways but are we flying yet? The game against West Ham yesterday allowed anyone who saw the quality United possessed in all areas of the pitch. Rafael has proved to be an amazing asset on the right hand side and may very well be as good as Evra is one day. That does pose a threat to already giants Wes Brown and Gary Neville. Ronaldo has returned to scoring form and for the first time since this summer’s events with bastards Real Madrid, Ronaldo looks like a devil once more. Tevez also showed great form despite not scoring a goal. I guess no one really needs to talk about Berbatov as he displayed his best football so far for the season with amazing touches and play on the ball. Rooney came on and could have scored his 100th for United in style but it was not in the cards. He was overflowing with confidence and looks to have a fantastic season ahead. Anderson shows signs of becoming another midfield legend like Scholes or Keane. Other great performers on the night included Rio and Vidic as well as Nani. The real questions are why didn’t they score more than two goals? They should have held the ball better in the second half especially having Tevez, Rooney, Berbs and Ronaldo all running at the defence. I assume they need more time together. At the end everyone wanted their chance to score and the team suffered goals because of that. United maybe flying high, but they will have to maintain this in order to catch up to the league leaders. All I can say now is we look to more and more from this team as we truly have what it takes to take the Scouse back to hell! Viva Ronaldo, Viva Ronaldo, He runs down the wing, hear United sing, Viva RONALDO!

The season is still fresh and Arsenal has had the most up and down season I can think of in recent years. After the loss of Gilberto, Flamini, Justin Hoyte, Hleb, Senderos and Traore on loan, and Gary Lewin to England… I thought maybe we were on the up… right? I was wrong once again…

The first down was losing to Fulham at Craven Cottage. Now i am not saying that Fulham is a lame team but I have come to expect Arsenal to win these games, amd yes I know they have lost stupid games in the past but those were usually deep into the season where injuries play a major factor…

Then a nice high and wins galore.. In UCL, BPL and that stunning young guns win in the Carling Cup.. then the axe fell again.. Hull (this seasons bonus package) beat us at home… WTMA Now Arsenal dominated that game and came out second best.. the only consolation was that they beat Spurs as well… Then another high beating Porto 4-0 and then a draw at Sunderland where Arsenal pressured like a mother! 2 more wins and then this 4-4 “defeat” at home to tottenham… I call it a defeat because they scored 2 late goals to tie.. and i see it as 2 points lost… Adding salt to the frogs back Bentley had a scorcher against Lehmann… yes i called him Lehmann.. Because there seems to be little in the improvement department….

What should be done?

In my opinion.. Move Toure or Gallas into the “Holding Midfielder”(I know everyone’s said it already) role because there is a major lack in that department… Cesc has to play too deep and he is not as influential in the attacking half of the pitch thus far… Until we can pick up a holding midfielder there must be some support for the back 4…(Diarra should never have left) .

Next up we need to be sure that we take our opportunities… Walcott has impressed me some more but he still isn’t the finished article… And Nasri fades in an out of the games… I know injuries are killing them but they need to have a deeper squad and at least 2 more defensive options. One more at leftback and another centre back… Silvestre fills those rolse but he is not the best of the best.

Anyways I believe Wenger knows what he is doing and he will get them in order soon enough… Injured players will soon return and all will be in order once again… Right?

Peace out Homies!!!

Today I came across an interesting series of articles. It seems that Sunderland’s manager Roy Keane insisted that Dwight Yorke sit out Trinidad and Tobago’s 3-0 loss to the USA. Warner was cited saying “Your callous disregard for the rights of ‘small’ countries to have their players represent them as enshrined in Fifa regulations reveals a mean streak in your character,” it read. “It is one which will not endear you or Sunderland to such countries and it is a dangerous path to tread. Such insensitivity and disrespect were again most recently displayed by you having summoned Dwight Yorke to England, rendering him unavailable to face the USA. “Your continuing insensitivity and disrespect for countries such as Trinidad and Tobago are hereby noted.”

All I have to say to Jack Warner is stop talking about small countries. Since when have you ever really cared for the football of Trinidad and Tobago? Instead of trying to develop new players you continuously call on Dwight Yorke to represent Trinidad in his late thirties. Just so its clear Jack Warner, FIFA’s vice president and his son sold scalped tickets to unaware fans through a Miami location during the last World Cup. When it went to FIFA and an investigation was made guess who remained FIFA’s vice president. His son got away with a small fine. Jack warner is a disgusting representation for Trinidad and FIFA. Roy Keane has every right to make such decisions since Yorke’s salary depends on Keane. Besides, do you think Dwight Yorke could have made a difference in the 3-0 thumping. I think not.

I have finally decided to start my blogging on Arsenal and my expectations for the season… So i will recap the transfers, and the last 2 games.

Today I have to admit that once again I am worried about my team… but this I am used to so I am hoping that the tables turn 180 and we see better football from “the” north Londoners. This transfer window so far we have lost the little depth that existed at Arsenal with the departures of Flamini, Hleb, Gilberto, Hoyte and the loan of Traore and Barazite . These were key players in the arsenal ranks(with the exception of Hoyte and Barazite) and sadly the incoming freshmen are not up to the level of the graduating class. The new boys were Nasri, Ramsey, Bischoff and Silvestre (I question Arsene’s judgemnt here). So the midfield seems really depleted, and with Toure, Diaby, Rosicky and Fabregas sidelined the seasons opening games were sure to be tough. So said so done.

Now the game against West Brom saw Nasri bag his first goal for the Gunners, Arsenal’s top scorer for last season seemed to be below par on the day. Fortunately they held on to the 1-0 lead and took the three points. The positives from the game would be that the team were able to hold out for the win, Denilson looked fit to play in Fab4′s spot. However, in the game against Fulham the team looked substandard. Lack-luster would be an understatement as far as I am concerned. Adebayor might have renewed his contract but he needs to renew his goal tally too… I think he depends on feeds from Fabregas to get into the game. Turnovers galore and poor targeting riddled Arsenal’s game. Hopefully with the return of Cesc in midweek we will see a better team performance.

My personal opinion is that Arsenal needs a defensive midfielder. I heard speculation that Tore will be converted to that place in the meantime and either Silvestre, D’jourou or Song will play as centre back… hmmm not too sure of Toure in the defensive midfielder’s role but one thing i know is that he would do the best he can. And in the preseason warm ups we saw Wilshire and Vela having some impact so it’s a wonder when we will see them on the pitch.

Finally as i said before i usually have these doubts about Arsenal in the earlies but Wenger always seems to calm my nerves.. I know he will ready the Arsenal for the rest of the season.

Peace out Homies!!!

Who will be the fall guy?

So Fabio has picked his leader and strangely enough he looks like the same leader that Steve Mc Clueless used. But since John Terry has remained the captain, does this mean that we should expect the same old song from team England? Well it’s a mixed bag as far as I can see. John Terry is not bad as a leader for Chelsea and his strength as a defender is not questioned by many. However, his time as England’s captain has not been the best time for English football on a whole.(Granted it was Mc Claren doing the coaching). Is Capello sure that he wants to follow the lead of Steve-o? Who else could have taken the helm? Well there were a couple candidates and I will name and critique them ‘prontisimo’.

First up, Rio Ferdinand. After riding the winning red wave of Manu last season, he was a major player in the race for the armband. Sadly for him I think his temper and lack of composure at times did him in. Just this weekend he was seen screaming at Giggsy. The capitan of the 3 Lions will have to be better in times of stress, and if the recent history is a prelude to the future, England is in for some rough times.

Second on my list is Frank Lampard. Ok he is a decent midfielder but his performances on the international level needs much to be desired… much… plenty. So as far as I am concerned he should never have been mentioned.. so forget that I even said his name.

So “secondly” I would say is Steven Gerrard. Stevie G has to be one of England’s best players. He helps in defending, attacks well, scores spectacular goals, takes corners, and is the captain of his club side. The only real downfall that I could think of when it comes to him is that when he speaks I can’t understand a word he says. Sometimes the closed caption people just ad-lib what they think he is saying. It’s freaking hilarious! So I guess his candidacy/eligibility came down to his ability to handle the press and not sound like he is gargling listerine.

Next on the chopping board would be David Beckham. Now this guy is a proven leader.. he carried the weight of England on his back throughout the Sven years and I think he did a great job.. But he himself gave up the arm band before Mc Claren was named and then maimed. So in a way he took himself out of the picture… and sadly he went to the MLS.. not to say it is a lame league.. but it is not as high profile a league that the England skipper should be playing in.

Anyone else I might have missed.. hmmm..? Don’t think so.

So in retrospect I think that JT is actually the best choice.. team driven, loves the game, goal scorer, tough defender, he survived the debacle post Sven and most importantly he can speak fluent english! Good Luck to him.

Peace out homies!!!

As the 2008/2009 EPL season gets closer to kickoff he thought on everyone’s mind must be what they should expect this season and from who. I have decided to give some insight into how this season could turn out. It is too easy for me to say that the top four would be United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool and thus have decided to speculate and maybe I will accumulate by the end of the season.

So what will happen? I sincerely feel that United can make the best effort to retain their title. They would have the least changes and the most chemistry between the hypothetical top four mentioned. If they manage to sign Berbatov from spurs then their attack will be fearsome even without Ronaldo. United’s key is a well balanced team without too many experiments as seen last season.

Chelsea remain strong despite yet another change in management. I strongly feel that their team spirit is high and carries them through rough times. Grant was nothing special yet the team prospered and this fighting spirit together with their experience will push them through. New signings such as Bosingwa and Deco may make the difference just as they may not. I will give them second place again.

Arsenal has undergone dramatic changes in personnel saying goodbye to the prolific Alexander Hleb while acquiring the likes of Samir Nasri, Aaron Ramsey and the returning Johan Djourou and Carlos Vela. Arsenal will suffer from the many new faces entering and causing upset to their chemistry. They promise to have a strong end of season run. Hopefully Adebayor will be able to keep his feet on the ground after a mix up with Milan!

Liverpool have also shaken things up quite a bit bringing in Brazilian goalkeeper Diego Cavalieri from Palmeiras; Danish forward Nikola Saric from Herfolge; Italian defender Andrea Dossena from Udinese; Swiss defender Philipp Degen from Borussia Dortmund. Also they have attained Slovakian defender Martin Skrtel from Zenit St. Petersburg for a fee of €8.5m; Scottish midfielder Alex Cooper from Ross County for a fee of €0.2m. Again here Liverpool promise to be strong in the latter half of the season.

I feel the last two teams, Arsenal or Liverpool could lose their places to Manchester City. City has made a massive signing in Brazilian forward Jo from CSKA Moscow. He scored 30 goals in 53 appearances with them and can bring lots oj joy to the other side of Manchester. Lastly, City’s new manager Mark Hughes has the capacity to take his new club to unseen heights and leads the way for a historical season ahead. I shall leave you with the three players to impact the EPL this season:

TOP 3

1) Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)-Fergie will have a more defined role for him allowing him to be more consistent this year.

2) Bosingwa (Chelsea)-If he makes runs like he did during the Euro’s he will cause all sorts of trouble for opposing defenders.

3) Jo (Manchester City)-His goal scoring record with CSKA Moscow could only mean that he is a big threat to the defence.

Close followers: L Modric, and F. Torres

Bottom 3 (Past peak)

1) C. Ronaldo (Manchester United)- Will not repeat last season’s stellar performance especially while recovering from injury.

2) F. Lampard (Chelsea)-Don’t know whats all the fuss about this fellow. Far from his best.

3) Peter Crouch (Liverpool)-Lack of first team opportunities speaks for itself. Transfered to Portsmouth..why?
