"My sunshine doesn't
come from the skies, it comes from the love in my dog's eyes."

The day is over. I'm stuck in traffic, listening to my own thoughts like wireless headphones. As I drive my car into the driveway I can already feel their anxiety of someone waiting for me. I turn the knob, open the door and let my briefcase fall at my feet.

Immediately I am tackled to the floor by two small creatures, creatures who are so grateful that I am back. The love that a dogs give is so incredibly powerful, unconditional and pure that sometimes I wonder if I even deserve it. They don't ask for much, yet they give so much. I can feel the love, the "I am so glad you're home", the relief that I have returned that all they can do in shower me in kisses, kisses that they believe is the highest form of love.

However, a dog's love is a funny thing. I've realized that the more I get to know people, the more I love dogs. We live in this world where one of our main goals as a race is to love each other, yet we do the farthest thing from that. Dogs, on the other hand, aren't taught to love or be grateful, or to not bite the hand that picked them up when no one gave them a second look, they just know.

I once read this a couple of years ago and it truly touched me:

"Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish
Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their
little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping
for a miracle.
I examined Belker and found he was dying of
cancer. I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and
offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their
home. As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it
would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt
as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
The
next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family
surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last
time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few
minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away. The little boy seemed to accept
Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat
together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad
fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives. Shane, who had
been listening quietly, piped up, ''I know why.''

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next
stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation. It has
changed the way I try and live. He said,''People are born so that they
can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time
and being nice, right?'' The six-year-old continued, ''Well, dogs
already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay as long.''

I cried when I read this because I understood that we humans have it all wrong, we try loving in ways that are not love and dogs don't understand loving in another way. This is love, we need to embrace it.

"He is your friend,
your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his
leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
-Unknown-

You need to trust people. People need to trust you.

Knowing there's someone you can pour your heart out to makes us humans and vulnerable yet strong. Be it with your deepest darkest secrets, with your treasured items or anything you might require; you need someone to trust.

Now I've come to realize that we trust certain people with specific things. Ergo, there is not not one person we tell EVERYTHING to. You've probably described everything about yourself to best friends, relatives, etcetera but never all to ONE person. This is because we know that no matter how incredibly close and trustful you become to someone, there is always someone who will understand you more clearly. Maybe your best friend is who you tell your dreams to, maybe your lover is who you describe how you like to be touched, and maybe your mom is who knows your every fear and how you like to be waken up on a Saturday morning.

You trust people with pieces of the jigsaw puzzle but you never let them see the full picture.

Keeping a journal is something I envied some kids growing up.
They wrote everything about themselves and what had happended throughout the day on a journal. Yet I always felt that it would be pointless to write into something that only I would read. As life has taught me brutally, some experiences shape you into a certain person and make you unique from the idiot next to you. So one day I came up with an idea to share my experiences with the world, hoping I would learn more from sharing than keeping it to myself.

This is not your ordinary blog.
"Talk with Your Mouth Closed" is a blog about a skill that we EARN throughout the years after many experiences that change our lives or just make is smile like idiots on a summer day. Like Roosevelt once said "talk softly and carry a big stick", he knew that the wisest people listen to much more than what they talk, yet they know when they are hearing bullshit. I'm not stating that I am the wisest (certainly) or that you should listen to me and follow all my advice. I am telling you to hear me out.

This blog will attempt to teach you about our times on Earth and it's content.
We read cute quotes everyday asking them to bring us up from our downside using a couple of cleverly positioned words. Well the truths that we find in these words last as long as we allow them to. The high you get from reading an amazing quote fades away as the moments pass, unless you live what you read.

I will post plenty of quotes that I have gathered from very unorthodox sources and some very common quotes as well.

Like I said, the purpose of this blog is to enlighten the mind, and keep it lit.
