Case number: 08-54742
Type: SAR (Death)
Text: On 07/07/08 at approximately 1600 hours, Talkeetna AST received a
report from Geriann Boling, age 57 of Anchorage, that her boyfriend
Raymond Lyn Westbrook, age 50 of Anchorage, and his friend Eric Scott
Henman, age 42 of Watertown, South Dakota, were overdue from a hunting
trip on the Susitna River. The hunters reportedly planned a three day
hunting trip departing the Deshka Landing at 2100 hours, on Thursday,
July 3rd and returning at 2100 hours, on Sunday, July 6th. On Monday,
July 7th at approximately 1600 hours, the Westbrook and Henman were
reported overdue.

Investigation revealed that Westbrook and Henman departed the Deshka
Landing near Willow on Thursday evening at approximately 2100 hours, in
an aluminum canoe. Westbrook and Henman planned to canoe down the
Susitna River to hunt bear and once they made it to Cook Inlet they
would make their way to Point McKenzie where a vehicle was parked and
waiting for them.

On 07/07/08 at 1700 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers began a search of
the Susitna River via boat and fixed wing aircraft from the Deshka
Landing to Cook Inlet and east to Point McKenzie, but were unable to
locate any sign of the hunters. The search for Westbrook and Henman
continued into Tuesday, 07/08/08.

On 07/08/08 at approximately 1200 hours, Alaska State Troopers located
the body of Henman along with the canoe near Point McKenzie. The
Anchorage Fire Department assisted with the recovery with the use of
their watercraft. At approximately 1500 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers
located the body of Westbrook in the water near Fire Island.

The Search And Rescue was a coordinated effort involving the Anchorage
Fire Department, Alaska Wildlife Troopers and the Alaska State Troopers.
 Investigation is ongoing.

Location: Cordova, Willow & Talkeetna Areas

Case number: 08-45299, 08-48274 & 08-48650

Type: Commerical Marijuana Cultivation & Distribution

Synopsis: On 6-10-08, at about 1925 hours, investigators with the
Mat-Su Alaska Bureau of Alcohol & Drug Enforcement (ABADE) and Cordova
Police Department executed a Search Warrant on Georgia L. Nichols, age
63, of person and her vehicle, while she was in Cordova. Subsequent to
the search, Nichols was found to be in possession of a felonious amount
of marijuana. Ms. Nichols was arrested and charged with two counts of
MICS 4th.

From the above described investigation, investigators managed to locate
at least two of the source marijuana grow operations that Ms. Nichols
was being supplied with the marijuana. The source marijuana grow
operations were determined to be in the Willow / Talkeetna areas.

On 6-20-08, at approximately 0935 hours, Mat-Su ABADE investigators were
assisted by members from the Major Offenders Unit, AST Talkeetna Patrol
& the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in executing a Search
Warrant at a residence located off of Merlin Dr., in Willow. That
Search Warrant service resulted in finding 18 marijuana plants under two
lights systems. The homeowner, Charles Richardson, age 63, was
identified as the proprietor of the grow operation and was arrested on
scene for three counts of MICS 4th.

From that location, at about 1135 hours, investigators and agents then
went to a residence located off of E. Sunshine Lake West Drive, in
Talkeetna, where an investigative contact was conducted. As a result of
the contact, investigators discovered that a 58 plant marijuana grow
operation existed at the home. The homeowners were identified and are
both being charged with four counts of MICS 4th.
