This past Sunday when I decided to start shooting personal work again the camera didn't make it out of the house. Here's some bean soup working in the crockpot, lit by a south-facing window.
I've rediscovered one of the reasons I quit updating this photo blog and it has nothing to do with taking photographs. It's the spam. Every day there are about thirty messages in the spam queue and the spammers are getting more and more sophisticated. Unfortunately, it's hard to keep this blog updated on the latest anti-spam technology because it's on a platform called PixelPost, which ceased development in 2009. It's a beautiful platform but in a matter of time it probably won't work at all. That means I really need to update to Wordpress or some other platform if I want to keep the blog going.

It's been quite some time since a new photograph has been posted on this website - almost a year. I've been doing everything but personal photography in that time, but perhaps it's time to gravitate back to it again. For now, I'm content to post this one - it's a start - and to look back with pleasant memories at the other 200 photos that have been published here.

This is the first image from my iPhone 4 that's been posted here. I've had the phone a couple of months and the photos and video are beautiful. The built-in HDR capability works great and the exposures and focus are accurate. All in all, it's pretty amazing.

Near Lawrenceburg, Indiana, looking across the Ohio River to Ohio. As you can see, this is another dramatic one, with all of the manipulation done in Lightroom.
Thanks for the great response to the last image, commenters. Sorry it takes me a couple of days to approve comments, this is my slow 'n' lazy blog for fun...but I do really appreciate hearing from everyone (hey, Craig, what's up?).

This church is right around the corner from me. Dramatic, isn't it? Well, it's because I went crazy with Lightroom, burning and dodging all around, coming up with my own dramatic, fabricated lighting. This isn't something I do very often but I was curious about the possibilites. It's almost scary how much a photo can be manipulated in five minutes.You can also take a look a the original image, if you're interested.

The third photo in the series - snow and ice on the beach at East Fork Lake. The shapes dance around, like a sound wave. In my mind, really good photos often relate to music in some way. They may have a lyrical quality or they may remind me of a certain piece of music. My favorite photos most always have a jazz flavor. This photo definitely falls into the jazz category.
