Happy Monday everyone! Life has been very busy as of late and I'm still trying to get out of boxes as we speak from my recent move. The decorating has commenced and everything is starting to take shape. I can't wait to share pictures with you guys when it is all completed.

I recently partnered up with Marlborough Mall as a stylist and model for their Spring/Summer campaign shoot called " Styled by Marlborough Mall". The concept for the campaign was to create affordable stylish looks in a snap for different occasions and I think we accomplished just that. For the shoot, we decided on three different looks; a sporty look, professional look and a more casual/going out look. All of the clothes were hand selected by me from different stores in the mall and I had such an amazing time working with everyone on this campaign.

Burst Event YYC

A few weeks ago, Fae from coco&cowe blog helped cover the BURST event for the blog as I was away on vacation. Here a little write-up about it.

"As a Calgary newbie I was pleasantly surprised when Joyce offered me a chance to attend BURST, an art & fashion event brought together by some talented artists and designers. Upon arriving the event I was so giddy to see so many fashion people (my people) gathered in such an amazing space.

The show featured an array of glass versus fashion designs and their work was both impeccably crafted and like nothing I have ever seen before. I still am in awe of how well the models carried some of these delicate yet heavy pieces. Each designer left me pretty awestruck. Some of my favorites were Erina Kashihara's light show feature, Jin Won Han's glass headpiece, and last but most captivating the work of Teresa Burrows.

Teresa Burrows pieces showcased First Nations ceremonial dress that were meant to depict the lost souls of women lost to violence on a certain strip of highway in Western Canada. They evoked so much emotion and were very stirring.

All in all, I hope that BURST continues to be an annual event. When I spoke to several people in the audience after the event, they said this art and fashion scene was non-existent just 5 years ago and has blossomed to be something that the city is very excited about. Hopefully, Joyce will be able to steer me in direction of more of these awesome events in the future.

I'm currently on the market for a new designer handbag and can't decide on what I want. I've been lusting over a few handbags, but the decision on which one to get has proven to be harder than I thought. Celebrating A Milestone

On May 30th, 2013, after 6 months of waiting, I flew out of the nest with mixed feelings and became the proud owner of a brand new custom built home. As I write this post, I am feeling scared, excited, overwhelmed and unsure as to how I am going to survive on my own, but I am certain things will slowly fall into place like they always do. I have come to realize that not everyone can accomplish what I have at such a young age and I am learning to celebrate my success because I deserve it and I've worked damn hard to get to where I am today. I am extremely lucky to have such a loving and supportive family who have been there for me every step of the way and who remind me everyday of how smart, beautiful and accomplished I am. Now, the question is what do I do with 1500sft of space? I've been working with an interior designer, who is also a good friend and I can't wait to show you guys the before and after pictures of what we do to my place and the journey towards making this space feel like home. I'm currently on cloud 9 and no one can steal my joy. If you haven't noticed, 2013 is my year of breakthroughs and great accomplishments and this is just the beginning!

HPROJECT LAUNCH YYC

Last Friday, I attended the launch of the HPROJECT at Holt Renfrew in the CORE downtown Calgary, hosted by Director of Brand Strategy, Alexandra Weston. Holt Renfrew started a new initiative called HPROJECT in partnership with some of the designers that they carry in house to create charitable products which are sold in store with 100% of the after cost going to charity. This initiative was started a year and a half ago and so far over $600,000 has been raised for charities locally and globally.

It was from this initiative and its huge success that Holt Renfrew decided to build a stage to showcase other products that give back to their communities across the world. H products are extraordinary in one of 3 ways:

- The artisanal way it is made or the unique organic material used to make them.
-The way they celebrate a culture.
-Or the charitable giveback.

4th Street Lilac Festival 2013

The 24th annual 4th Street Lilac Festival is this Sunday May 26th from 10am-6pm. This festival marks the beginning of festival season in Calgary and will feature talented local musicians, over 500 vendors and great entertainment. Although the forecast for Sunday is calling for some rain, I'd highly recommend every Calgarian checking it out because it is definitely one of my favorite local festivals. Too bad I'll be missing it this year, but I'll console myself with laying by the pool in plus 30 degree weather sipping on Margaritas and shopping till I drop.

YYC Burger Week: Boogies Burger

Happy Friday everyone! In anticipation of YYC Burger week which kicks off today until May 10th at 16 restaurants in the city, I stopped by Boogies Burger, a well known local gem, serving up some of the best burgers since 1969.

The diner style burger joint was bustling with people when I arrived at 2pm last Saturday afternoon. After a few minutes of trying to decided on what to order, I settled for the ``Fay Burger``, a 100 % Alberta beef burger, topped with cheese, fried egg, mushrooms, onions, tomato, lettuce with an extra burger patty added. The fresh charbroiled beef was tender, juicy and each bite was as beefy as the last. This was one messy and delicious burger that beats any burger in taste and size that I have ever had and is one that comes highly recommended from the staff. I loved my first experience at Boogies Burger and can`t wait to explore the menu in the future.

I opted for just the burger, but you do have the option of adding fries, onion rings or even a poutine to any meal combo.

Skin Care Regiment

I have gotten a few emails regarding my skincare regiment in the past and thought I'd a post about it. For many years, I was plagued with bad skin ( acne, blemishes) you name it and tried everything you could possible think of just to help, but to no avail until I found these drug store products that I swear by and have helped my skin to what it is today.

Cetaphil Daily Face Cleanser ($20)

I use this cleanser twice a day in the shower and I love the way it leaves my face feeling. This cleanser works well for make-up removal and does not strip the skin of natural protective oils or emollients, or disturbs the skin's natural pH balance. I have noticed a huge difference in the last 4 months since adding this product to my skin care regiment and I would highly recommend it for anyone dealing with mild-severe acne.

Oil Of Olay Facial Cloth($9)

I wash my face every morning and night with the Oil of Olay Facial Cloth. It acts as a toner, mask and scrub all in one and does a good job removing dirt, oil and make-up.

Biotherm Aquasource Gel($48)

I use this product as my day-time moisturizer and I absolutely love it. It does a great job keeping my face hydrated and I also love the smell of it. The gel texture makes it perfect for daytime and it leaves my face feeling plump and radiant. I have been using this product for over 8 years would recommend it to just about anyone.

Neostrata Skin Renewal Peel($75)

I usually go to the spa once a month for facials until I discovered this product through a good friend. Neostrata Skin Renewal Peel which contains glycolic acid is a natural exfoliant. Glycolic acid works by breaking down substances that bond dead skin cells beneath the top layer of the skin, which contributes to clogged pores and dull skin. I use this product twice a month or more depending on the state of my skin and I find it leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft with a healthy glow. It also helps smooth out uneven facial tone and can reduce the appearance of surgical scars, acne scars, and other blemishes.

Creamery Triple Whipped Moisturizer ($52)

I first fell in-love with this product after attending their official launch party in late November of last year. This product is made from all natural edible ingredients and has SPF in it to help protect from the harmful rays of the sun. The moisturizer is customized to your skin type and skin color to get the best results. I would highly recommend their products to anyone living in the Calgary area.

Last Wednesday, I stopped by the Army & Navy Designer Shoe sale in search of some great finds and I must say I was very impressed with the shoes they had in stock. Although, I was unlucky finding any of the shoes on my wish-list, I did pick up a few shoes that are currently in stores for a fraction of the cost.

Weekly Adventures

Happy Thursday everyone! It finally feels like spring in Calgary today and I am looking forward to the weekend filled with lots of exciting things to do around the city. Here is a little bit of what I've been up to this past couple of weeks.

I attended an all-day symposium on "Inspiring Action" last Friday at the Calgary Zoo as part of professional development for work. The event showcased some inspiring speakers from all over the world, sharing their experiences and inspiring people to make a difference in the world. I loved that the event was at the Zoo because it added a fun and playful element to the event and gave everyone an opportunity to do something that they might not otherwise do.

I have also been doing some last minute furniture shopping as I am slated to move into my new home in 5 weeks.. I can't believe 6 months flew by so quickly. I 'll keep you guys updated on how it goes.

I also stopped by Wreck City, an impressive art experience curated by eight artists that runs from April 19th- April 27th, in 9 houses slated for demolition. The houses have been turned into temporary art displays with performances by over 100+ artists and musicians. It is definitely something to check out this weekend.

Updates On My 60 Days To A New You Challenge.

" Exercise maybe the breakthrough you need to go beyond limitations in other aspects of your life".

Happy Tuesday everyone! I just got some exciting news and can't wait to share it with you guys, but I have to remain mum for now. The last couple of months have been amazing to say the least. I have been riding this amazing wave of success that I never imagined and can only thank God for making it all possible.

I started a 60 day weight loss challenge a little over 8 weeks ago for an upcoming vacation and here are some updates on how it went. Just like with everything new, staying motivated the first couple of weeks is the easiest because the goal is still fresh in your memory, but as time goes on and the hustle and bustle of everyday life starts to take its toll, it becomes more of a challenge and harder to keep up, but I somehow managed to pull it off.

After 8 weeks of exercising 5 days a week and countless hours of meal planning and prepping, I shed 11 lbs and 12 inches all over. This challenge started off as a physical fitness challenge, but after 8 weeks I started to notice alot of changes, not only in my body, but also mentally, spiritually and in every aspect of my life that you can imagine. I started to challenge my ways of thinking and started to examine things I wanted out of life and with that came amazing breakthroughs that I never imagined. This experience has been very life changing and significant to the woman I am today. So I challenge each and everyone of you today to try and achieve a level of fitness you have always wished for because it will lead to breakthroughs in other aspects of your life that you never thought possible.

To me, exercising is a lifestyle and one I plan to keep for the rest of my life. Here are some ways I stay motivated with exercising daily.

- I work out with a buddy. Knowing someone is waiting for me at the gym gets me out of bed every morning.

- Working out first thing in the morning gives you the extra boost of energy to get through your day and it eliminates being too tired to go later in the day.

- Set small goals for what you want out of working out and the results will lead you to setting bigger goals and setting the bar higher once those goals are achieved.

I had an amazing weekend at the GOWNTOWN event at Marlborough Mall and I am very proud to say it was a great success. I am so happy I got to be a part of such a great cause that gave back to a much deserving community.

Every month comes with new loves and as we inch closer to summer, I have been lusting over a few things. I usually shy away from bright lip colors until I tried this hot matte pink lipstick from Mac called Candy Yum Yum. It's the perfect shade for spring/summer and it looks amazing on. Also, that pastel green handbag by Rebecca Minkoff is a must have and is on trend with the pastels of the season. All I need now is for the weather in Calgary to cooperate, the question is when.

I often wish for peace and quite, but my life is consumed by work and so many other things that I never get to experience that. This past weekend, I took a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and headed west of Calgary to an incredibly beautiful town called Banff, nestled in between magnificent mountains with breathtaking views. Even though I have been to Banff a million times, I always discover new things to do and I am always taken aback by its beauty. There is something so serene about the nature, wildlife and simple life of the people that live there that makes me feel right at home and erases all my worries.

It was my girlfriend's birthday and she got to celebrate her birthday in an intimate setting, surrounded by close friends. Our one day trip entailed hot springs, dinner, popping lots of champagne and a night out in town. Even though I always complain about how busy my life is right now, I am in a happy place and wouldn't have it any other way. Enjoy some pictures from the trip.
