The PTI stance to negotiate with extremists is an unacceptable one.
Many criticise PTI because of its stance on terrorism. They say; how can we negotiate with these people? Perhaps they have a point if the PTI policy is only to negotiate but it is important to understand the exact stance. Arif Alvi explains how it is important to understand the different parties involved in terrorism today. It is not as simple as us versus the terrorists and we should just eliminate them all with all our might. There is the Pakistani Taliban, the Afghan Taliban, the sectarian and ethnic violence or the violence in Baluchistan; each has unique causes and needs to be dealt with differently. PTI wants to deal with some issues through action and others with negotiation and it is very important to understand that PTI policy is not just negotiation with everyone!

Looking at the alternative, is PTI still not the better choice? The PPP government have continued to conduct military action but failed to solve the issue. PTI’s stand may not be ideal if you are not in favor of negotiation but a military solution will only work if all political channels are exhausted first! Other parties have no clear strategy to offer. The plans for negotiation by the other parties which started days before the dissolution of parliament were not really a credible solution.
Therefore, given a choice of failing to negotiate or failing militarily, is a political solution with a military option not the better choice?

Corruption is not the only problem Pakistan faces and PTI needs to go beyond that .
It is true that corruption is not the only problem but it is still an important one. Since corruption results in huge losses to the exchequer, dealing with it can make the Pakistani economy more solvent. Once the country is solvent it can have the resources to solve other problems which critics feel are more important.
PTI policies go beyond just corruption; a truly revolutionary policy of local governance is one that can change the landscape of Pakistan forever. Yes, it has been implemented before and we did not see the fruits everywhere but the PTI plan includes a genuine commitment to shift resources to the council level which can bring real change. Female literacy, another priority of PTI addresses other critical problems such as over- population.

Even if PPP or PML-N has the most amazing economic or other policies, the fact that they lack the political will to deal with corruption means PTI is still the better choice. With PTI, the worst case scenario is incompetence but at least no corruption but with the other two parties the worst case scenario is incompetence and corruption! Surely, Pakistan cannot afford the second option.
PTI is hijacked by the same old politicians and they cannot bring change.
Some believe that the influx of leaders from other parties has meant that PTI is not ideologically what it is used to be. These concerns are valid but we need to realise that better new leaders compensate for this. Asad Umar, for example is a leader who even the staunchest critics of PTI complement. We should focus on the fact that it was a party like PTI that encouraged people like Asad Umar to enter politics as they saw a real opportunity to bring change.

The point of this blog is that even if you consider all the criticisms mentioned above to be valid, you should still vote for PTI. This is because when you try to understand PTI policies in depth, you may realise that these criticisms are less important than you thought. You should still vote for PTI because the other parties offer no better alternative. The PTI strategy against terrorism with a political solution in mind but military action as an option seems to be the most credible one. You cannot ignore corruption no matter how good your other policies are.
PTI coming to power is not going to change everything overnight, its inexperience may create some problems, it may have promised more than it can deliver but there is no doubt that there will be some change for the better. After five years, our institutions will be stronger, literacy will be higher, the local government system will provide an opportunity to bring change from the bottom up. PTI may not be perfect, but it is certainly more perfect than others.

Pakistan was flourishing. Pakistan’s railway, Pakistan’s airlines, Pakistan’s army, Pakistan’s politics, Pakistan’s judiciary, in short, every sector of this country started to develop in a very short period of time. As unbelievable as that sounds given the current situation of all these sectors, except perhaps the army, we really did start off on a note of prosperity.
However, if we look at ourselves now, where do we stand? Where is our generation headed? What do we have to serve as the mark of our development? What is the state of our economy? Is our sovereignty under threat? What are we telling the whole world about us? Are we respected?
THESE OUR SOME OF THE QUESTIONS EVERY PAKSITANI SHOULD ASK THEMSELVES.

I would like to answer the aforementioned questions to the best of my knowledge. We currently stand at the brink of socioeconomic destruction. Our generation is already on a downward spiral marked by countless vices as can be verified by news channels every day. Our biggest development is probably the breeding corruption and criminal mindset being seen in nearly all sectors of the population- yes, a harsh truth. The current perception of the world about us is that we are terrorists. No need to elaborate on that I’m sure. Our economy? Well as hurtful a truth as it is, our economy is, to put it simply, a joke. In slightly less crude words, it’s on a constant decline, along with the morals of our society.
Pakistan’s sovereignty is constantly threatened whether by India, our neighbor country passing harsh remarks against our country every now and then or the U.S bombing our people.
War is never a solution to extremism and terrorism. Why don’t we learn from the history of the world?
Our respect? The biggest question mark on the face of this nation. I’ll define the state of our respect in just one sentence. Holders of the green passport are seen with hatred, they are not given jobs, they are seen as terrorists.
It is time for the people of Pakistan to stand up as one nation. Let’s change ourselves if not for us than for our children at least. Let’s make this nation, a nation which our beloved Quaid and Allama iqbal dreamt of. Let’s give up the stereotypical thinking and BE the change each of us yearns to see.

When our forefathers can willingly give up their lives to bring in to existence this country, when our armed forces can give up their lives to protect this nation, why can’t we change ourselves to make this country a better place to live in?
So wake up Pakistan. It’s high time that you do.
I would like to end this with one quote.

The Quran, surah 13, Ar Raad , Part of Ayat 11: Verily ! Allah will never change the condition of the people until they change it themselves (with state of Goodness).

And what I’m about to say has been said time and time again to no avail. Hopefully this time will mark a difference :

” My fellow Pakistanis do not ask what this country has done for you, ask yourselves what you’ve done for this country?”

What have we indeed, done for this country? And more importantly, what do we plan to do for this country now that change lurks on the horizon, so close its within our reach, if we only try to catch it and make ours the future that it promises.

There are many reasons why investors want to invest in the realty industry. The gradual development in the domestic market is favourable for the real estate investors to take on their construction projects in Pakistan.

Geographical Importance:

The geographical location of Pakistan makes it a gateway to Central Asia. The seaport through Arabian Sea makes it a great place for foreign investors, as they can import the required goods through Pakistan’s seaports, which would assist them further in carrying out their state of the art construction works.

With these features, Pakistan is relishing a lot of international interest. The next stellar project in Pakistan involves the perfect union between a foreign investor and the CEO of Bahria Town. Thomas Kramer, a U.S mogul has entered into a construction contract with the real estate tycoon, Ahmed Ali Riaz Malik, the CEO of Bahria Town, to build an Island City off the coast of Karachi. The Bundal & Buddo Islands will be completed in a span of five to ten years. The houses will be handed over in 2016. Both the partners seem very positive about the project’s success.

With such high-end projects, not only Pakistan is expected to come out of the economic slump but it also proves the gravity of this ripe market for investment.

Since the date for General Elections are fast approaching ( i.e 11th May 2013) this post aims to encourage people to come out of their homes and vote. I will not be supporting any political party in this post the sole purpose is to let the people know that their vote could change their present and future. Do we have heroes in Pakistan ?

In 1997′s general election the total percentage of voter turn out was 31.47 % , in 2002 the voter turn out was 38.93% and in the latest elections in 2008 the total voter turn out was 38.77% (these figures were taken from www.idea.int). In a country where most of the people are below poverty line, a country which is under huge amounts of debts, a country whose economy is declining at a rapid rate, a country where energy crisis is at its peak, where the monopoly of money and power has been limited to a certain group of families and a country where the rich are getting richer and the poor are pushed towards destruction; the kind of voter turn out is surprising.

Pakistan is a democratic nation where the people of Pakistan choose their representatives from among themselves which would represent them. Right to vote is one of the most important features of a democratic government. The people hold the key to this , according to this system people can vote for who ever and what ever person they wish for, this is the beauty of a democratic system. Unfortunately many of us don’t even take this responsibility to choose a representative among ourselves. While everyone agrees that Pakistan is falling apart we as Pakistanis do not even try our best to do what we can.

“Pakistan is on the verge of breaking down”, yes i said it, we are fast approaching towards a dead end an end which India had long predicted from the moment we gained our independence. The reason that Pakistan is at this stage is solely because of  ”Us” every one of us have contributed towards the Pakistan that we live in today. The Pakistan that our ancestors fought hard for, the Pakistan for which many Muslims lost their lives for and the same Pakistan for which Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah fought day and night. We have all let them down everyone one of us today are responsible for Pakistan. Why us you ask ?

We have been responsible for one thing that could make a difference for the nation, which is to vote for some one who would lead us on the path of which our ancestors once thought Pakistan would be. Sadly over the past 65 Years we have failed to deliver this, we have been divided among parties and political stances. We voted for people who would be of our help and kept Pakistan aside, we are more interested in who would build our local streets rather than mending the broken Pakistan we currently live in.

The voter outcome  truly represents how much we care for Pakistan. A country where so much has been happening when 40% of people come out to vote, out of which a small portion of people actually care for Pakistan. If you are one of those 60% of people who choose to stay at home on that day, there isn’t much you can argue about. You can’t argue about how pathetic our economy is, you cant argue about how inflation has been sky rocketing in the past 5 years, you can’t argue about how terrorism is plaguing our nation, you cant argue about how your son and your daughter having no future in Pakistan, you cant argue about Pakistan being treated as a third world country, you have no right to complain when you have to stay up all night because there is no electricity at your place or the fact that you had to wait hours for your turn at the petrol station. You cant argue nor do you have the right to argue about anything at all because YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THIS. 

We have led Pakistan to this, we are responsible for choosing people who ruled over us for 65 years, we had the chance to bring up some one who could change Pakistan and we let that chance go for 65 years. We stand here today with yet another chance, General Elections 2013 (i.e 11th May) is our chance. If we don’t come out of our houses on that day we would probably be stuck in this for another 5 years. Who knows the next government might change the way Pakistan has been we wouldn’t find out unless we go out of our homes and vote for the person we think could change this Pakistan. 

We don’t want a Pakistan where our children are not safe to go to schools, we don’t want our Pakistan to be a place where our young generation rots because there are no job opportunities, we surely don’t want to be a nation who spends the entire night in front of candles due to shortage of electricity, we don’t want a country whose working class is forced to deprive themselves of the basic necessities needed to survive, we don’t need a country which is treated as a third world country, we don’t need a country where small kids are forced to beg at traffic signals.

This year we have 86 million registered voters, I am sure none of us wants this, our ancestors fought hard for this country and now its our time to repay them by choosing the best among ourselves. What happened in the past is gone now, its the present and future that awaits us. Let all promise  that we would change our selves, lets all come out of our homes on 11th May 2013 and vote for our Pakistan not for any individual but for a better Pakistan. We hold the key to a better future for our children, lets all use this key to bring back the Pakistan which was the vision of our leader Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Let us all join hands, let us all go out on 11th may and ask everyone around us to come out on 11th may, LET’S VOTE FOR PAKISTAN. I am Fahd Arshad and i will go out on 11th may 2013 to vote for my right, I WILL VOTE FOR PAKISTAN, WOULD YOU ?
