I have been a Kylie fan ever since she first released I Should Be So Lucky back in 1987. I have every one of her UK album releases (and a fair few singles and DVDs), I have shimmied my way through all but 2 of her UK tours (and I am gutted about missing those two) and I even own an old Enjoy Yourself sweater from 1990. If you want you can call me a Kylie geek. I’ll admit it. I would probably score very well in any Kylie pub quiz challenge.

My life is punctuated with moments associated with Kylie songs. I remember moving to Sweden just as Some Kind of Bliss was released. My memories of learning Swedish are filled with the echos of the B-side track of that song. And feeling lost in 2000 after a break-up a few months beforehand, and hearing Kylie’s new album Light Years and feeling like some joy had just been returned to my life.

But one of my biggest Kylie memories was when I went to see her at the Hammersmith Apollo back in 2001. I was just beginning to take my photography seriously and somehow I managed to smuggle my camera into the concert along with a 500mm lens! (That’s a big one, in case you’re wondering!) Her first song started playing and amongst all the cheering and whooping, I lifted the camera up to my eye. I think I managed 2 or 3 shots before I felt a tap on my shoulder and was escorted out of the auditorium! Fortunately, they let me back in to enjoy the rest of the show once I’d checked my camera into a locker for safekeeping. I got to keep my photograph, but I only ever kept it just as a private memory.

This year, Kylie celebrates 25 years in the music business, can you believe it? That’s longer than The Beatles or Elvis Presley. It feels like only yesterday that I was that 13 year old girl, and I never imagined that I’d still be singing along to Kylie Minogue in my late 30′s. My relationship with her music has changed over the years, I left those growing pains behind long ago, but I can still do a mean rap when Shocked comes on my iTunes.

I have photographed a few couples who have celebrated their wedding at Brocket Hall, and I have some more weddings coming up there later this year, and I can’t wait to go back. And as a recommended wedding photographer at Brocket Hall, you can be confident that we’ll get some beautiful and romantic images for your wedding album.

So in 2012, I am going to find time to also go back to my first love, landscape photography. I’m going to make time for personal projects, which enable me to continue finding my own voice in my work. To search deeper into my own artistic motivations and desires, and to not be influenced by others quite so much. To find out who I am as an artist, and to enable me to be my creative best for my lovely couples who want their wedding to be photographed in a way that really speaks to them, and really is them.

But to celebrate all the wonderful couples that I was lucky to photograph in 2011, here is a selection of some of my favourites from 2011. I look forward to continuing the journey during 2012.
