What Is A Foodie?

For the last two weeks, I've had a few friends ask me why am I changing my lifestyle blog to a food based blog. My answer has been simple: "It's what I want to focus on. I want to learn about food preparation, food quality, and I want to learn how to cook quality meals. In no way do I want to become a chef. I just want to properly document my food experiences, learn about cuisine I would never try on my own, and meet people with similar interests."

My answer may sound a bit crazy but it's the truth. For years I have thought about what I wanted to focus on here at I thought about focusing on beauty, makeup, photographs of New York City, and I even thought about making it graffiti based. None of these topics stuck out to me. They didn't excite me the way reading about a new Thai restaurant opening in Queens or reading an article teaching everyone how to incorporate avocados in every meal.

As I approach this change I start to think: "What is a foodie?" Am I A Foodie? Is there an official way to become a foodie? Aren't we all foodies? We all need food to survive....right?!

I personally think the term categorizes a certain type of person. Someone who appreciates details in food preparation and the anatomy of a good meal.  But that's just my definition.

Here's the Urban Dictionary's meaning of "Foodie":

And now here's's definition of the term "Foodie":

Now if the definitions above do not convince you that you may be a foodie, you can take the  BuzzFeed quiz: "How Obsessed With Food Are You?" Quiz  :)

New Year, New Blog Changes!

Tameeka Time at Molly's Cupcakes in the West Village

Happy New Year Blog Readers -

2014 was a crazy year filled with ups, downs, vacations, and everything in between. Instead of doing the traditional yearly recap you can visually view what my year was like through my Instagram account, I took on a personal yearly project where I posted 1 photo a day for 365 days. All photos can be seen here:

I must say the last few years have been wonderful and I've done my best at documenting my life's journey using the blog TameekaTime. I've always wanted to narrow what the focus of TameekaTime "the blog". And with serious contemplation, research, realization and help from close friends I've decided to transform TAMEEKA TIME - The Lifestyle Blog to TAMEEKA TIME - The Foodie Blog.

I will start my journey from lifestyle blogging to learning the in's and out's of becoming a food blogger. I will share reviews (good and bad), photos, my journey on learning to properly write about food, take tantalizing food photos, and network with other foodies. I live in the greatest food city in the world, why not celebrate it!

Don't fret lifestyle lovers, I will still throw in occasional lifestyle related posts because I've successfully started to chip away at my BUCKET-LIST and I'll write posts about completing items from that list.

So join me on this new journey and you won't be disappointed.

I'm shouting out to the masses: IT'S FOODIE TIME! by Tameeka Time.

If you have questions and/or suggestions you can email me here:

Happy New Year - Bring it On 2014

Happy New Year!
It's almost 2014!!!!!

This year will be a better year - for both you and me!
I don't know about you but I'm glad to leave 2013 behind. It was a life changing year for me personally and professionally. Luckily, both of those aspects of my life have changed for the better and I'm actually happy with every decision I made last year.

The 3 major changes for me were: I obtained a new job in my field after working 6 years for a loyal company, a long term semi-work and personal relationship ended and I moved to a new neighborhood in Queens.

In 6 short months my life changed. At first it scared the crap out of me but I slowly adjusted to my new lifestyle. I realized it was time to leave baggage behind. I made new friends, I traveled, I went on dates - I actually met people in person at events and through dating sites. I stopped being emotionally responsible for others. I danced harder, I laughed more, and I cried a lot. This year has definitely taught me many lessons about life. And I'm happy to end it with some pretty special people.

2013 wasn't all a bad year. There were also some really great things that happened in 2013, for example: The high school student I mentored went off to college, I attended the AICP awards, I danced with SantiGold, my friend Aldo moved to NYC, I had the most fabulous nails this summer, I finally ate at La Esquina & Lure Fishbar, my roommate is my best friend, I went to America's first zoo, I made cupcakes at ButterLane, I went to San Francisco, I danced with a topless DJ, I went apple picking, I discovered that I REALLY love dressing up for Halloween, I saw Wanda Sykes & Kathy Griffin live, I took a road trip to Boston, I went to an aquarium, and met a wonderful young man that I enjoy spending time with.
I never really focus on new year resolutions. But this year I wanted to jot down a few reminders to myself and have something to look forward to and look back on next year :)

I will laugh more.
I will act my age (instead of acting like an old fart).
I will surround myself with ONLY positive people and positive situations.
I will work on my brand again (Tameeka Time).
I will create a bucket list and post it on my blog.
I will take better care of my body (internally and externally).

Do you have any semi-resolutions you want to reflect on? If so, comment below. Or if you just want to vent on why 2013 was such a crappy year let me know in the comment section.

Cheers to the New Year and good luck to everyone!

The Best Cat Gif ... EVER

I'm a fan of cats.
They are soft.
They are cute yet evil.
They purr really loud when they are happy
and they scratch you just because they feel like it.

Sometimes they sit on your keyboard when you are trying to

And sometimes they tell you to be quiet when you are
talking too damn much.

This may be the best cat gif EVER!!!

Twerking on a Friday

It's Friday.
I had an awesome week filled with friendship and love.
Things can only get better from here on in.

With that said.

I give you one of the illest twerk videos I've seen in a minute.

Thank you Patrice for showing me this...

This is now my favorite! Just look at how she moves to the beat!
