This had to have been the most requested video I have had yet......

Bayalage Highlights is a free hand form of highlighting. You can really get creative with this technique by really placing the highlights exactly where you want them to go. You can use this technique to add a few highlights around the face and crown.

You can also create an Ombre Hair Color effect.

Locks of Love is a nonprofit organization that provides wigs for children that can not afford them on their own.

Most of the wigs go for kids that have the disease Alopecia. Kids that have to go through Chemo-thereapy because of Cancer loose their hair, but their hair does grow back. Kids that have Alopecia might not ever grow their hair back.

Alopecia is an an auto immune disease in which the hair follicles fight against each other making the hair follicles to go dorment. Because the hair goes dorment and is not dead, the hair does have the possibility to grow back, but not always.

There are different severity of this disease. Many times the hair grows back within a year, but other times the hair never grows back.

Wigs are not always covered by health insurance, because it is not considered life threatening to not have hair. However, the children's self esteme is affected and having a nice wig can help get some of their confidence back.

Over the years I have cut many people's hair that have donated to this organization. I'm hoping this video might inspire others to donate:)

Short Layered Women Haircut (Hair Tutorial) Razor and Point Cutting

The Short Layered Haircut can be worn by women of all ages. In this tutorial I used my razor for the majority of the haircut, but also switched back and forth to my scissors where needed. I used the point cutting technique for the more heavy, blunt sections to blend the whole thing.

Keratin treatments are great option for those who have uncontrollable frizzy or curly hair. It is a temporary treatment that will wash out in 12-16 weeks, but during that time your styling time will be cut in half. I have just started really getting into them myself and I have gotten a lot of positive feedback.

How to Use Dry Shampoo: Biotera Dry Shampoo Review (Great for Sensitive Skin)

Washing your hair everyday can take its toll on your hair. If you can manage to skip a day or two between washes your hair will be healthier. Less shampooing means less drying and heat styling which in turn will be less stressful on your hair.

I have been searching for a dry shampoo that I like for a while. I have tried a few of the "Spray on" dry shampoos and all of them irritated my scalp. I have been using just baby powder for a while, because that didn't bother me, but I decided to try a "Powder" dry shampoo to see if that would work any better.

I purchased Biotera Dry Shampoo at Sallys Beauty Supply.

It worked much better then the baby powder I was using and didn't irritate my scalp at all. I only had to use a little bit and it really went a long way.

I think this is a really good product for sensitive skin.

How to do Ombre' Hair Color

Ombre' hair color can vary from person to person. The main idea is that the hair starts darker at the roots and gets lighter towards the ends in a blended fashion. You can go really extreme with this look by going from a really dark hair color in the roots to a lighter blonde on the ends. It can also be blended and natural looking as if you've spent a lot of time in the sun, but your hair has grown out to give you that root look without the line of demarcation.

Cortex 4 N 1 Curling Iron Set Review with Beachy wave Hair Tutorial Pictures and Video

I recently received the Cortex 4 N One Curling Iron Set courtesy of Flat Iron Experts. This iron is a great buy for those of you that like to switch up the sizes of your curling iron. In this post I will give you all the details about this iron and I am also including a video review and hair tutorial on how to create Beachy / Wavy like curls.

This is what came in the box.....

It is a Professional salon model with 4 Ceramic / Tourmaline interchangeable heads. The even heat distribution helps prevent damage and the negative ions promote smoother, silkier curls.

I have to say that it did heat up rather rapidly and it has the capacity to heat up to 430 degrees.

I really liked the extra long swivel cord. The cord is extra long, so you don't have to worry about getting it caught up.

It also came with a heat protectant glove.

I always like to keep my videos as short as possible with also keeping the content strong. I want to take you through the whole tutorial without boring you to death with too lengthy of a video. I have been trying something new with my videos. I have been fast forwarding through some of the sections that before I just skipped out. This way I can keep the video shorter and not loose as much of the content.

This next haircut I am going to show you is an asymmetrical look. It is medium in length with lots of razoring and texture.

This is it! My first upload from my new camera. I am totally excited about this. I love creating videos and I would do more if I had the time! I decided to upload something simple like this braid tutorial for my first go with it. As you can see it is a beautiful look.

How I created this look.....

1. First, I curled the whole head with my one inch flat iron.

2. Then, I braided this waterfall french braid to wrap around the head.

3. Finally, I tied it off and added a cute white rose pin with feathers.

Highlights and Lowlights in my own Hair (Hair Tutorial)

I was having one of those bad hair days and I couldn't get in with my hair colorist, so I decided to go ahead and do it myself. Believe me this is not an easy task and anyone that is considering doing this on their own hair.....should proceed with caution.

That being said, I have done my own hair many times. I actually have another video up on You Tube of me doing my own highlights that I uploaded about a year ago (before I knew how to edit).

I have a crazy busy life. If I'm not working, I'm chasing around with my kids to all of their activities. Blogging and creating videos is fun for for me, but this also eats up my time. There really isn't a lot of time left for me to do things for myself, like get my hair color done.

My good friend Gabby, who is also licensed hairstylist, comes over every few months and we do each other's hair. But sometimes we both get too busy to get together and my hair is driving me nuts every time I look in the mirror, so I will do my own hair to get me through until our next visit.

This is the last video I will be uploading from this camera. I have been using a Sony Webbie HD. It has been really good to me. I have created a lot of videos on this little camera. However it was giving me a lot of problems with the sound going up and down and the lighting was very yellow no matter what setting I put it on. It was time for me to upgrade. I purchased the Canon HD CMOS Pro M40. I just love it! The picture comes out amazing, the sound it clear and easy to understand, and the lighting is perfect.

How to do Golden Blonde Highlights on Natural Red Hair: Sliced and Chunky

I have been wanting to do this video for a while now. My friend has the most beautiful natural red hair color. Her hair has natural highlights coming through already, but adding more blonde actually enhances her red hair.

Because she already has natural highlights, we needed to make the highlights more thick and chunky in order for them to show.

The way you make more thick and chunky highlights is by slicing the foils right next to each other back to back. The more foils you slice back to back, the more chunky your highlights will be.

I tried something new with the music in this video. I added music throughout the whole video with Apple iMovie, instead of just the beginning and the end of the video. I set the volume really low so you could still hear me talk. I think it's a little bit better with the background music. I hope everybody likes it.

My Video Lighting. I am always struggling with the lighting in my videos. They are either too bright and there is a glare and it looks yellow or they are not bright enough...so frustrating. There is a little bit of a glare in this video, but its not too bad. The true hair color is so hard to capture on You Tube.

The American Beauty Show

I am getting really excited about the The Americas Beauty show coming up. With only 1 week to go.....It used to be called the "Midwest Show." This year it is held at the Mccormick Place in Chicago. Although I have been to a number of classes, it has been more then 5 years since I've been to this one. It is the biggest get together for Hairstylists in Chicago and the surrounding areas. Hairstylists come from all over the place to go to this thing.

The first time I went, I was right out of school and I was in complete Awww. It's like the car show, but all about hair. "Pure Heaven!" There's platform artists everywhere and people trying to sell you things every which way you turn. It's like the classiest, coolest Flee market/Mall/Hair Show ever! As well as Hairstylists everywhere! It is so much fun seeing all the Hairstylist with the all the new edgy looks. And the shopping.... I also enjoy running into past coworkers or even old Bosses.

I came home with all sorts of random items! All sorts of products.. Makeup, Hair products, nail polish, creams... You can get your scissors sharpened or buy a new pair..thinning, texture shears,, blow-dryers, curl irons...

New trends are bought out here as well. Last year this show introduced the Feather Extensions to the Chicago area. So it will be interesting to see what the new trends of this year will be.

Braids and updos are so in right now still, but it would be kind of cool to see some more short haircuts come in to the picture.

I don't know what kind of pictures or video taping is aloud, but I'm gonna bring my stuff.....

I plan on writing in my blog more. I think its a good way to not only get my thoughts off my chest, but a good way to connect with people on a deeper level. I don't have nearly as many people following my blog as I do my You Tube channel, but I enjoy it just the same :)

Long Layered Haircut (Extra Long Layers) "Hair Tutorial"

There are lots of different ways to layer hair. But the truth is that the more layers that you have in your hair, the more work it is to take care of it. If you keep the distance between the layers and the length at a minimum you will have less hair to fix. Those of you that have had a haircut with Lots of layers know exactly what I am talking about.

This last model I cut has thick to medium thickness and has pretty straight hair. We added some long layers into it. We pretty much just layered the bottom few inches of her hair. This will make it easy for her to style her hair, but at the same time she will look trendy and put together.

Long Layered Haircut on Fine Textured Hair: Hair Tutorial Video

Long Layers look good on almost everyone. It works really well with fine hair, because it makes it appear thicker and fuller. Too short of layers on fine hair could make the hair look thin and transparent. My hair is pretty thin and I know from experience that longer layers work much better for me.

In this haircut I kept it pretty classic with a little bit of texturizing. You also have to be very careful not to add too much texture on fine hair or the hair will look limp and stringy. Just a little bit of point cutting should be enough to blend this haircut on fine hair.

Copper Hair Color Lowlights and Highlights: Hair Tutorial Video

Happy New Year! It's been a while since I posted something. The holidays took over and with the kids being off school, I couldn't get anything done.

I really enjoy blogging and uploading videos, but they do take a lot of time. I like to edit and re-edit my videos until I get them just the way I want them. I usually have a couple of videos backed up at a time.

All and all I love creating videos and I love blogging and I am so glad that I have come upon all of this.

That being said I have created a great video for you. My friend Beth made a terrific model for this, because she had virgin hair and wanted to keep it somewhat natural looking.

It was just one of those things....Should I do Red or Blonde...that's when I say go Copper. It is the perfect "In-between" that you can't go wrong with.

The Highlights give it brightness and pizazz while the lowlights give it depth and dimension.

Long Layers with Graduation: Video Hair Tutorial

A Long Layered haircut looks good on just about anyone. The length is great for when you want to put it up or wear it down in beautiful sultry like waves.

In some cases, however, the hair is so thick that there just seems to be too much hair and the weight of it takes over. One way to take care of this is to add some graduation in the back. Adding some layers closer to the head will decrease unwanted heaviness and bulk.
