Aside from the Tampa Bay Hotel/University of Tampa, seen on the far left side of the photograph, not much else remains the same in the two photographs. The old Lafayette Street (Kennedy Blvd) Bridge can be seen crossing Hillsborough River in the foreground. In addition, in the historic photo, you can just make out Sacred […]

The Lafatette Arcade, on the corner of Kennedy and Grand Central, was designed by famed Tampa architect M. Leo Elliott. The sign above the front door says “Children’s Dentist”.

Notice how Magnolia Ave, just outside of the arcade’s front door, has since been converted into Snow Park (the smallest public park in the country).

The Hensley-Stovall Arcade has changed tenants since this 1925 photo. The store on the left is now a women’s clothing exchange. The restaurant on the right is advertising Coca Cola, Poinsettia Ice cream, cigars, cigarettes, sandwiches, candy, and Italian spaghetti “prepared to take home”.
