Lamprologus brevis sunspot Namansi

Shell dwellers remain popular and wild individuals are still available. Here, a recently imported Lamprologus brevis ‘sunspot’ collected at Namansi, Tanzania, so named by its characteristic mid body blotch.

Altolamprologus Compressiceps Coal Black

Imported several years ago from Zambia, but not exported since, Altolamprologus compressiceps ‘coal black’ is a dark black form of the popular species and has arrived again.

Tropheus moori Malasa

Not often imported, since nearby variants are usually caught instead, is the Tropheus moorii from Malasa Island, Tanzania. Note the dark red markings around the head area and the typical “rainbow” body markings along with a yellow dorsal fin.

Julidochromis marlieri Kasanga

Reportedly from south of Kasanga, Tanzania, Julidochromis marlieri has appeared in recent shipments. The color variety of this marlieri has more of a marbled pattern compared to the standard Burundi form. However the body size of the two wild varieties is comparable.

Telmatochromis vittatus

Collected from south of Kipili, in Mkinga, Tanzania, Telmatochromis vittatus is an odd-ball lamprologine not often seen available from importers. Unusual cichlids like this are attractive to many Tanganyika collectors if only for the new breeding challenge.

Tropheus Chilanga red Nkamba

Several Tropheus varieties, especially the lesser known ones from Zambia, are in demand by those hobbyists who yearn for something a bit off the standard mark. Here T. moorii ‘Chilanga red’ reportedly from the Nkamba area, often assumes a darker red coloration.

Cyprichromis sp. leptosoma jumbo Moliro

From Moliro, Congo, Cyprichromis sp. ‘leptosoma jumbo’ has been available again. This fish is a jumbo type of leptosoma sporting a markedly yellow throat area as well as different colored dorsal fins and tails that are typical for these types. Photo by A. Konings.

Cyphotilapia frontosa Mikula

Several populations of dark blue varieties of Cyphotilapia frontosa exist in southern Congo. Many American hobbyists proclaim that the Moba location has the deepest blue fish. However the Mikula frontosa pictured here is now favored by some.

Altolamprologus compresiceps Bulu Point

A new but secret collecting spot near Bulu Point, Tanzania has produced a nicely colored Altolamprologus compressiceps type. This one is overall yellowish with dabs of red in its unpaired fins.

Cyathopharinx foae Sibwesa

Demand for many of the Petrochromis species continues. One of the most sought after types is the species named ‘Moshi Orange’ from various places in central Tanzania.

Unul dintre cele mai frumoase cichlide din Tanganyika atat ca temperament cat şi culoare e. Acest peşte traieste in toate zonle lacului şi se găseşte în mai multe variante. Motivul fiind este că exista diferite specii care trăiesc alături, în acelaşi habitat. "CYP" sunt, în general, peşti foarte paşnici. Ei trăiesc de obicei în grupuri mari cu mii de indivizi, dar ei pot rătăci în grupuri mai mici. Femelele sunt de obicei foarte pale la culoare, dar acest lucru este suplinitde masculi. Din moment ce acesti pesti sunt poligami şi sunt peşti de grup, vă puteţi aştepta la masculii mai multi colorati în acelaşi timp. Acesta este unul dintre principalele avantaje ale Cyprichromis. Desigur, va trebuii să înfiinţati grupul dvs. corect, în scopul de a atinge armonia.

CYP vin in doua dimensiuni de bază, regular şi jumbo. Regular atinge dimensiunea medie de circa 3,5 ", în timp ce jumbo pot merge până la 7". Ei sunt mancatori de plancton . Din moment ce le place particule mici de alimente, lucrează bine într-un acvariu cu mancatori neglijenti.

Deoarece CYP sunt locuitori de jumatatea apei fac un plus binevenit intr-un acvariu comunitar de tanganyika. Cele mai multe ciclide ocupă jumătatea de jos a rezervorului în cazul în care CYP va ocupa jumatatea superioara.

Reproducţia lor nu mai este de mult o provocare. Este bine să păstrati cantitati egale de masculi la femele, în scopul de a reduce presiunea asupra femelelor. Peştii depun la jumatatea coloanei de apa cu capetele lor îndreptate în jos. Este uimitor să vezi femela prinzand ouăle ei înainte ca acestea sa loveasca substratul.

Unele dintre cele mai bune CYP-colorate sunt:

"Kavala", care este unul dintre CYP Jumbo. Ei pot ajunge la aproape 7 ", au albastru pe cap, galben pe obraz şi dedesubt, şi dungi de tigru triunghiulare.
"Kitumba", de asemenea, un jumbo. Masculii sunt colorati in galben, albastru, albastru deschis, închis, şi combinaţii ale acestor culori! Probabil cel mai bun colorit, de asemenea si cel mai rău. Males can be aggressive enough to make them very "un-cyp-like" in behavior, sometimes taking over a large tank. "Tricolor", care este un alt Jumbo. Masculii sunt de trei culori diferite: corp albastru cu aripioare galben, corp maro cu aripioare negru, şi dorsala negru cu cap galben strălucitor.
"Neonback" sau "Utinta", care nu este un jumbo. Masculii au o spinare albastru metalizat care se întinde de la vârful nasului până la coadă, cu coada, fie albastra sau galbena. Ele cresc la un maxim de 4". Acest peşte este de fapt "albastru flash".

Recently exported from Tanzania, Tropheus brichardi Chungwa has interested hobbyists lately due to its color. This fish is collected near Namansi, Tanzania and can be quite aggressive towards conspecifics.

Tropheus moorii Muzi has been shipped from Zambia several times over the recent years. It is also called “cherry blue rainbow” due to the red and blue colors on the body. Its exact collecting location is not known, but previously thought to be near Malasa Island, Tanzania.

On rare occasions, one or two individuals of Trematocara arrive in import shipments. Here, T. variabile arrived from Burundi, but died shortly thereafter. If this genus holds any interest for you, buy whatever you can find to build your colony!

Newly collected from points south of Namansi, Tanzania, Petrochromis sp. ‘giant blue’ is a very large fish to import and thus rather expensive due to freight costs. Individuals usually arrive larger than 8 inches (20 cm) in total length.

In urma cu patru zile aveam sa primim primul transport de cichlide africane din Germania si anume de la "Cichlidenstadl".
Nu prea exista comparatie cu alti pesti pe care i-am importat si de asemenea nu exista comparatie cu privire la conditiile de transport, acte, comunicare, etc. Marimile si speciile cerute au fost exacte iar pestii de o calitate superioara atat cei salbatici cat si cei crescuti in acvariu sau ca o noutate in pondurile lor din Africa (pond raised).
