HAT BRIM

With bottom of hat facing join yarn with a sl st into one of the front loop stitches from Round 6.

Work sl st into next front loop stitch. Continue working sl st into each front loop stitch around. Sl st to first front loop stitch to join. Tie off, weave in ends.

CURLICUE (Make 5)

Starting out:Leaving a long end of yarn (about 6 inches), ch 13.

Row 1: Work 4 sc into the 2^nd ch from hook. Continue working 4 sc into each ch stitch across. (48)

Tie off leaving a long end of yarn (about 6 inches).

POLKA DOTS (Make 9)

Starting out:Make an adjustable loop.

Rnd 1: Ch 1 (not a counted stitch), work 5 sc into the loop. Join with sl st to first sc made. (5)

Tie off.

Finishing: Using a tapestry needle and the long ends of yarn on the curlicues, tie each curlicue onto the top of the party hat. Weave in ends. Trim the ends on the polka dots and hot glue them in place.

ASSEMBLY

To make a party hat headband start by cutting a length of fold-over elastic, 14 inches for baby, 16 inches for child, and 18 inches for an adult headband. Overlap the ends of the fold-over elastic (about an inch of overlap), hot glue the ends together. Then hot glue the overlapped section of the elastic headband onto the bottom of the party hat. Last, hot glue the felt circle onto the bottom of the party hat over the elastic headband.

ASSEMBLY

Place the mouse body flat in front of you, right side facing, with long end of yarn at the bottom center of the circle. Use the long end of yarn as a guide to where the center fold will be on the body of the mouse.

Tie the two ears onto the top of the body of the mouse under the last round of single crochets on opposite sides of the center fold. Space the ears seven stitches apart.

Trim yarn ends leaving the long end on the body of the mouse and the long end on the right ear in place. The long end on the right ear will become the tail of the mouse.

Finishing: Sprinkle in a bit of catnip or tuck in a small half moon of wax paper for kitty to crinkle. Thread the long end of yarn on the body of the mouse onto your tapestry needle. Fold the circle in half, ears on opposite sides, leave the tail to dangle. Whip stitch the edges together. Tie off, weave in end. Trim tail to desired length.

World Cancer Day 2016

February 4th is World Cancer Day. A global event with a goal of uniting the world in the fight against cancer. World Cancer Day is really important, because lets face it, cancer affects all of us!

This year my World Cancer Day impact will be giving hope and support to someone I love that is living with cancer.

Specifically my beautiful friend Jessica who was just recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Jessica is a 34 year old wife to 1 and mom of 3. When Jessica was in her twenties she lost her mom to breast cancer. Fast forward to 2016, Jessica is beginning her own battle with the same disease. My heart is heavy just thinking about what my sweet friend will have to endure on her journey to become cancer free. Jessica is just beginning her journey and will need lots of love and support along the way.

I designed a t-shirt and set up a fundraiser for Jessica. This shirt suits her perfectly. Not only is she beautiful inside and out, but this girl is ready to fight! And although it was designed with Jessica in mind this t-shirt is for all the beauties out there who are facing the same fight.

Starting out: With 3.50mm hook make an adjustable loop.

Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc). Work 2 dc into the loop, ch 2. {Work 3 dc into the loop, ch 2.} Repeat between {} two more times. Join with a sl st into the top of the beginning ch 3. Tie off.

Rnd 2: Join CC with a sl st into one of the ch 2 corner spaces. Ch 3 (counts as first dc). Work 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc into the same corner space as join, ch 1. {Skip next 3 dc. Work 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc into the next ch 2 corner space, ch 1.} Repeat between {} two more times. Join with a sl st into the top of the beginning ch 3. Tie off.

Note: Granny squares in the sample were joined by following Sarah Londons Join As You Go Method. If you use the Join As You Go Method you will begin joining as you work Round 3 of the pattern. Row 3-6: Repeat Row 2.

Tie off leaving a long end of yarn (about 8 inches).

Finishing:Fold the strap in half and line up the edges. Thread the long end of yarn onto your tapestry needle. Whip stitch the edges together. Tie off, weave in ends.

Assembly: Starting at the seam of the strap count up 92 stitches to the left of the seam, mark the stitch with a stitch marker. Starting again at the seam of the strap count up 92 stitches to the right of the seam, mark the stitch with a stitch marker on the opposite side.

With 3.75mm hook and right side facing join CC yarn with a sl st into the top left corner stitch on Front of Bag.

Line up the stitch marker on the strap with the top left corner on Front of Bag (strap seam should be at the bottom center of the bag). Join the two pieces by working a single crochet join around the body of the bag. After joining the body of the bag continue working 1 sc into each stitch around the strap and then across the top of the Front of Bag.

Join to strap with a sl st. Tie off.

Repeat the same process for the Back of Bag/Front Flap. With 3.75mm hook and right side facing join CC yarn with a sl st into the top left corner of the 4^th square from the bottom on Back of Bag/Front Flap.

Line up the stitch marker on the strap with the corner stitch on Back of Bag/Front Flap. Join the two pieces by working a single crochet join around the body of the bag. After joining the body of the bag continue working 1 sc into each stitch around the strap and then around the front flap of the bag.

Join to strap with a sl st. Tie off, weave in ends.

Finishing:Center button underneath the button hole on front flap. Sew button onto Front of Bag with needle and thread.
