I guess there will be no NaBloPoMo prize for me this year. I was so busy on Wednesday that I completely forgot to make even the briefest post. Thanksgiving day was also busy with cooking and cleaning up after a great dinner. Everyone pitched in to cook and we had so much food! We are very blessed to have a safe home, plenty to eat and a loving family.

I plan to enjoy the next 3 days off from work. My 4 Ship Support hats are done and will be mailed tomorrow. I started another square on the Barn Raising blanket while trying to decide what other new project to start.

I hope that you have a great weekend, too, as we move forward into December.

This post will be shorter than usual and photo-free. We had a busy day at work with a holiday potluck lunch and starting a major new project. I am tired!

I get even more tired just thinking about preparations for Thanksgiving. We are cooking, but will have plenty of help. One more grocery store run on the way home from work and I'll be finished until Thursday

November 23 - Smile for the Camera

This post is my first venture in submitting to the genealogy themed "Smile for the Camera" Blog Carnival. The theme for the 19th edition is "The Gift".

The photo below is very special to me and I consider it a great gift from my aunt. The photo is of my maternal grandmother, Ella Katherine Cutright Martin. She was known as Kitty to all the family. This photo was taken in 1924 and reminds me of how lucky I was to have such a sweet and wonderful grandma. She taught me so much and I still miss her as much as I did when she died in 1995.

If you have been reading regularly this month, you will be happy to read that I have something new to blog about. I just joined a group of recipe testers for an upcoming vegan cookbook. My first recipe was for a Gluten-Free gingerbread cake. The cake tastes great and is very moist. Sorry, I can't give you any more recipe info, but can tell you that the book is being written by Celine Steen and Joni Marie Newman, the authors of 500 Vegan Recipes

Just for fun, I have started one of the new Typepad microblogs to save my family Christmas memories and traditions. There is just one post and one photo right now, but I plan to update as much as possible during the month of December.

I'm calling this one Christmas Past and Present.
