Free Paintball (Scenario) Basic Training – ages 10-95!

Sunday June 3rd, Red Fox Games, Woodruff, SC 9am – 12 noon

Team Tango Alpha2 will be giving FREE Basic Paintball Training to kids of all ages (10 – 95 yrs old – we have set limits SOMEWHERE!) This is our “Habitat for Humanity” only we are building future paintball players instead of houses. There is no cost for the training session, but to do the Snapshooting drills you will need a marker, paint (limited) air for your marker and a mask. These can be rented from Red Fox Games if necessary. You are welcome to bring your own equipment and paint for the training sessions, but must use field paint for the Open Play after 12 noon. If you, your kids, or your parents want to be better paintball payers and learn some basic skills, come out to Red Fox Games June 3rd, spend about 3 hours in our training rotations and then spend the day practicing what you learned!

A.C.T.

Good paintball play comes down to Angles, Communication and teamwork (A.C.T.). The training sessions we will work you through will develop skills toward teaching you new A.C.T. skills or brushing up on skills you have already picked up. Whether you are an experienced player, or someone who has never played before, the Team Tango Free Paintball Basic Training will be both fun and educational. We are not selling anything, or trying to benefit in any way from this other than to increase players skills and hopefully help create a new generation of paintball players to build up the sport. So if you are 10 years old or 60 years old, you are welcome to come out and (hopefully) become a better paintball player.

Sessions will include:

Tactics & Strategy – how to out think your opponents, team tactics, bunkering, flanking, angles

Communications – radio and hand signal comms for better stealth and team coordination (radio supplied)

Snapshooting – shooting skills

Maneuvering & Moving – moving as a team, covering each other, woodsball skills

Sportsmanship – how to handle bad situations, ethics, building & protecting your your reputation as a player, ambassadorship

Items of Importance to Note:

Training begins promptly at 9am so we recommend that you get there early. Show up at 8:30, ready to start learning.

RSVP ahead at basictraining@TangoAlpha2.com.

This is NOT for Speedball training, while some of it does apply, this is for woodsball and scenario paintball training.

Once at the field, we will break the attendees up into training groups and then rotate you around the various fields to different training sessions and trainers.

The Training Sessions are free, but the Snapshooting session will require a paintball marker, air, limited number of paintballs & a mask (available for rent at Red Fox games).

You can also bring your own equipment & paint for this. During Open Play after 12noon, you must use the field paintballs.

ALL training conducted in SEMI-AUTO only (most realistic in non-scenario games).

Photos of the event will be used for publicity and posted on Facebook.

Apparel – wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty in, or hit with washable paintballs. Padding and body armor is not necessary for the training sessions. Gloves and hats are recommended to protect you from brush and paintballs.

Waivers - You will need to fill out a field waiver and a Team Tango hold harmless waiver and if you are minor, a parent or guardian must sign it . We recommend that the parents stay for the free training as well.

If you are an experienced paintball player and would like to volunteer to help with training, we welcome the assistance. Please contact us ahead of time at basictraining@tangoalpha2.com.

On Sunday, January 15th, one of our members, Jerry “J-Bird” Hughes organized a “Meet The Team” day at Red Fox Games in Woodruff, SC. Without question, he outdid himself! About 5 regular team members attended the event and at least 9 prospective members. Count ‘em NINE!. Plus several of them brought kids. The ‘Tango mob’ came to about 20 people. We started with a little bit about the philosophy of the team, some brief instructions on radio communications, some military style movement drills & pointers, and then play some scrimmages to practice what we preached. As the day wore on, even more prospects showed up! It got a point where I couldn’t remember names or faces (especially since they spent a great deal of time behind masks). Heaven help me if they change camo!

Everyone seemed to have a good time and learned and enjoyed the practice segment of the day. The rest of the day became a recreational play day and we broke the group into two squads and had at it! Between each run, we tried to to debrief each group on what they could have done better or what the other side did well, but after a while it was clear that they wanted to shoot paintballs! Everyone did really well. At one point we took a break and compared Rob “Precisions” Peper homemade AT rocket launcher to the team’s Havoc. Distance and accuracy (not size – everyone knows that doesn’t matter!). Okay, his was bigger!

Get Outta Da Way!

As of this writing, we have picked up at least 3 new paid members from the Meet the Team Day: Rob, Thom, & Tim. Also this week we inducted Randy Troublefield, and took in 3 other applications yet to be finalized. Attending the rec day event were members: Y-Not, Moo, Wingman, J-Bird, and Pharmer.

Red Fox Games, Woodruff, SC

The field is under new management (say “hi” to John for us!) and about 100 miles from Charlotte between Spartanburg and Greenville, but since a slew of our new paintball team members are from that area, I have feeling we will being seeing more of it!

Even with a CAPTCHA plug-in (to make new registrants to the NEW TangoAlpha2.com site type the graphical word before they can register), somehow, the bots managed to circumvent it and we were getting hundreds of users registered in just a few weeks, sometimes dozens daily. Now, our site is cool and all, but I am pretty sure those were bot-generated user registrations. We’re just not that interesting. So we purged hundreds of users from the site. We now have a plug-in that forces you to do some math (Sorry, Trouble.) before you can register or login. Let’s see if this cuts down on the fake User registrations. I apologize if we deleted your legitimate User account, but it was somewhat necessary in order to separate the wheat from the chaff. We just got rid of most of the wheat.

If you don’t know where you come from…

After 4 years and over 200 articles, it was time for a change. The original Tango Alpha2 blog was developed in response to a lack of a resource in the Carolinas of a single place to find out where the latest games are being played. Many fields had their own schedules posted, but no single resource provided info on the latest games, etc. From there, the blog became an unbiased source for paintball news and reviews. We steadfastly refused sponsorships so we could call it like we saw it. Soon after its first steps, the blog sponsored scenario Team: Tango Alpha2. The next natural steps was writing for national paintball magazines. Suddenly, this part time hobby to stay informed became a job. A rather low paying job. 2011 saw an amazing increase in my real job (online marketing agency) and the blog suffered for it. The team grew, and with it, responsibilities. 2011 also witnessed a reassessment of priorities. Magazine and blog articles, which showed no return on investment, were curtailed. Team management duties were delegated via Facebook, etc. While the blog served a purpose in helping market the team, promote the sport, help keep players in the Carolinas up to date, it\’s time for change.

How do you know when you get where you are going?

The NEW Tango Alpha2 site is going to continue to be based on WordPress blog software but will now be focused on Team Tango Alpha2 and promoting new membership, scheduling of team events, and increasing cross-communication. For example, all team members will be enabled to contribute articles for the News, For Sale, Photo Gallery, and Strategy & Tactics sections. We will continue to use Facebook, Constant Contact and email as our fast method to communicate temporary or urgent messages, but for postings for the general public and to help promote the team with semi-permanent articles and content, we will now use this site. Eventually it may replace the TeamTangoAlpha.com site, that day is not here yet. While the two sites will be similar, this site will be more interactive and continually provide new content via the team\’s contributions.
