It is with deep regret that I must inform you that it is the end of Tardis Travels for the foreseeable future (this probably comes as no suprise to many). I have decided to close Tardis Travels because I no longer have the time to update the site and have lost my dedication to doing so. Tardis Travels opened just under two years ago and I have enjoyed every minute of running it. In that time we have posted over 400 news updates, interviewed Doctor Who Stars, gained over 100 followers (Google and Twitter) and received over 23,000 hits! I am very proud of Tardis Travels and hope that one day it might continue. I will leave the site open as an archive so you can view everything on Tardis Travels. I hope you continue to enjoy Doctor Who!

Torchwood: Miracle Day

The BBC has released the Press Pack for the fourth series of Torchwood. As You can see the series has now changed its name from The New World to now, Miracle Day. The Press Release Follows:

BBC Cymru Wales, BBC Worldwide and US premium entertainment network, Starz Entertainment, today announced new cast, plot and character details for the new series of hit BBC ONE hit drama Torchwood. This highly anticipated new series will have the title Torchwood: Miracle Day and will premiere this July.

ER and Lie To Me star Mekhi Phifer will play Rex Matheson, a C.I.A. operative who joins forces with Captain Jack and Gwen Cooper to fight a global conspiracy that reaches from Washington to Wales and the slums of Shanghai whilst Bill Pullman, best known for his big screen roles such as While You Were Sleeping and Independence Day will take on the role of Oswald Danes, a convicted child killer who survives his own execution to become the most infamous man on the planet.

Also making their Torchwood debuts are Alexa Havins as Esther Drummond, a deskbound C.I.A employee who dreams of active duty and who suddenly finds herself running alongside Jack, Gwen and Rex; and Arlene Tur as Dr Vera Juarez, a Washington D.C. surgeon, who ends up on the frontline of medical care on “Miracle Day” advising the government think-tanks on the best course of action for the world’s population.

John Barrowman and Eve Myles will return in their roles as Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper respectively.

The 10-episode instalment has been written by a team led by Torchwood creator, Russell T Davies, and produced by BBC Worldwide Productions. Davies and BBC Worldwide Productions’ SVP Scripted, Julie Gardner, return as executive producers with BBC Worldwide Productions EVP Jane Tranter, and BBC Wales’ Bethan Jones. The series has been commissioned by Controller BBC Drama, Ben Stephenson, and Starz President and CEO, Chris Albrecht.

While previous series were based on location in Cardiff, Wales, this new instalment will feature locations in Wales, the US and around the world.

The bbc have confirmed that the new series of torchwood will air on bbc one from july the 1st .In a post on the official bbc facebook page it comfirmed that it will air on the same day in both the states and the uk .The show will take the 9pm slot on bbc one it is unknow at present what time it will air on states channel Starz.

In other news torchwood magzine have confirmed that filming will begin next week. Heading up production in the states will be former Angle show runner kelly Manners while Brain Minchin will be taking on the same role here in the uk.

David Tennant and Georgia Moffet to get married 2012

It was reported today that 10th Doctor David Tennant will be marrying Georgia Moffet New Years Eve 2012. If this is true then i would just like to congratulate them both and wish them happiness for the future.

A Source said that they are both ”besotted with each other” and “can’t wait to tie the knot”.

Georgia Moffet featured in the series 4 episode 'The Doctor's Daughter' and played the role of Jenny, The Doctor's Daughter.

Now im just afraid that David may have broken a few girl's hearts, but sorry girls, he's taken

Doctor Who Adventure game : Shaddows of the Vashta Nerada

The fourth and final Doctor who adventure game is now avaliable from the BBC Doctor who website .The game wich was ment to be realised on christmas day can now be downloaded .Its the last one in the current series and is called shaddows of the Vashta Nerada. It sees the Doctor and Amy travel to a seabed colony under attack from the shaddow monsters last seen in the Tenth Doctors story Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead.

The Adventure games are to return for a second series next year.

The fourth and final episode of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games will be released on Christmas Day, it has been confirmed.

Titled 'Shadows Of Vashta Nerada', it will feature the shadow monsters (Silence In The Library and 'Forest Of The Dead)

Following on from the ending of the third episode 'TARDIS', it will feature a plot surrounding a real-world conspiracy and is set in a seabed colony called Poseidon.

"We’ve gone all-out for the season finale. 'Shadows of the Vashta Nerada' takes place entirely underwater - something which would be impossible for the TV series, as water is so expensive," said executive producer Steven Moffat.

"It’s thrilling, terrifying, educational and fun. Just steer clear of those shadows..."

UK licence fee payers can download the episode for both PC and Mac for free from the BBC website.

What does The Doctor Who Experience offer that past exhibitions didn't?
"There's two answers to that! The first thing is something completely new. We have an immersive, interactive adventure, which lasts for basically about a third of the programmed time. It's estimated at 90 minutes and a third of that time is spent in an adventure. You're basically one of The Doctor's companions for a scripted walk-through adventure, with special effects and monsters. The most crucial thing is that you get to go inside the Tardis and you get to fly it!"

Does the interactive experience feature newly-written scenes with Matt Smith?
"That's exactly right. I obviously don't want to give the whole plot of the adventure away, but the basic premise of it is that thanks to the nefarious plans of the villains, The Doctor has been separated from his Tardis and he needs someone to help him get it back. Given that Amy's not around, the public get the chance to do it instead!"

And there's a full recreation of the Eleventh Doctor's Tardis interior?
"Absolutely, yeah. It's a faithful 100% reproduction of the current Matt Smith Tardis, with the addition of a couple of gadgets which The Doctor has sensibly planned ahead to include, to enable the public to fly it! Obviously there'll be more than one person in the room at a time. There will be batches of 50 people, so we've got some slight additions there that Steven Moffat has scripted in for us. But other than that, it's a 100% reproduction of the Tardis set as it currently stands down in Cardiff."

How far back into the show's history does the exhibition delve?

"We go all the way back to the really early episodes. For example, we've got the original Ice Warrior costume, worn by Bernard Bresslaw in 1967. It's got his name inside it and everything! Obviously it was a bit moth-eaten and we had to do some repair work to it, but it's still the original. We've also got other original costumes, such as the Zygons [from 1975's 'Terror of the Zygons']. There's so much stuff that got put in storage and there was just never any room for it in the smaller end-of-pier style exhibitions that have been run before now.

What are the long-term plans for the Doctor Who Experience?
"We have a long-term plan and we will be moving to Cardiff. I'm still working out the details of precisely when we move down there and how long we're there for, so I can't say very much about it. We want it to be down there long-term, so we'll be talking years, rather than months

The walk-through finishes with a 3-D finale. What can you reveal about that?
"There's a bunch of special effects throughout the whole walk-through, involving the Tardis and where you fly it to. It then culminates in a CGI sequence that involves 3-D animation. I should stress that it's the finale, but it's not a big part of it. It's a couple of minutes at the end of the sequence, but it ends things with a really impressive bang!

Seventh Doctor Keen On Who Return

Sylvester McCoy ( the Seventh Doctor) has said that he would be keen to return to the series. Talking to The BBC News he told of how he could reprise his role for the show's 50th anniversary in 2013.

"Would I do it? Yes, I'd be delighted to!" he insisted. "I am a part of it, it hasn't ever gone away and I celebrate the 21st century Doctors."

However, he claimed that an episode reuniting all surviving actors to have played the Time Lord could be a difficult prospect.

"I know that the producers balk at it," he said. "All those egos in the same room would be very difficult to deal with. But the fans are hoping that for the 50th anniversary...they might do something like that."

Doctor Who boss and head man Steven Moffat has confirmed that he has no plans to bring back Torchwood character Ianto Jones. The character played by Gareth David-Lloyd, was killed off in the last series of Torchwood entitled children of earth.

Moffat wrote on his Twitter: "Ianto fans only: Russell [T. Davies]'s character, and I thought his death scene was brilliant. Not reversing it. Stop asking. [sic]"

In response to a further fan question, the writer added: "Torchwood is Russell's - nothing to do with me."

Smith teases scariest who monsters ever

Matt Smith has promised that the upcoming series two part opener set in the US will feature the scariest monsters yet

During an interview for the Nerdist podcast, the actor admitted that he was terrified by the villains that were created for the sixth series.

"The ones we've come out here [to the US] to film... I think the monsters are on par with the Weeping Angels," he said. "It's the most hideous thing in the world."

Smith also suggested that comic legend Peter Sellers would have been a terrific choice for the role of The Doctor during the early years of the BBC One show.

"He'd have been amazing. He'd have been really, truly brilliant, I think," he explained.

Smith continued: "[He] totally has a coldness about him… I think the darkness of Sellers would have been really interesting."

The BBC has announced details of a new Doctor Who exhibition to launch in early 2011.

The Doctor Who Experience will open at the Olympia Two venue in London on February 20 and will showcase a number of props and costumes used throughout the show's history.

The exhibition will feature new scenes filmed with series star Matt Smith as part of an interactive walk-through experience, including special visual effects and a recreation of the Tardis interior.

The Doctor Who Experience will relocate to a permanent home in Cardiff in 2012. Tickets for the London run go on sale at 9am on November 18.
