For those, the Ace of Pentacles is a good card to see in a Tarot reading; it means that your finances are about to improve. If you are struggling with financial problems, this card means that your struggles are about to be over and a much better financial situation is ahead. The Ace of Pentacles predicts a new or improved source of income in the near future. This can mean different things; a successful business affair, new clients providing more income, a prize of some kind, a settlement (insurance, legal settlement) or any other source of income that has not existed until now. This can mean one-time lump sum of money (winning of some kind), or it can mean improved work conditions, a bonus, raise, promotion, or other source of income that you were not expecting or counting on.

The Ace of Pentacles often symbolizes an opportunity, prosperity, abundance, trust, security and groundedness. In readings, it shows that the beginning of productivity has been put in place, and although you may not yet see it, the proceeds of this action are on their way. This can mean an offer, gift, opportunity, encounter or synchronistic event.

When you see the Ace of Pentcles, take a close look at your life and see how the fresh energy could work for you. This is not a time for fantasy, drama or risk taking. You need to be realistic and focused. Build a solid foundation of trust, prosperity and success. Trust your inner voice and instinct - you will know what you need to do. This card means that your dream or dreams are about to become real. Your ideas are ready to be turned into something concrete.

This is a wonderful card to see in a reading if you are starting your own business, or expanding your existing business to new areas. You attract the wealth you need to get your projects going. Tap into the material force of the Ace of Pentacles, and all your enterprises will flourish.

Which cards are the luckiest to get in a Tarot reading?

I get asked constantly which cards are the best cards to see in a Tarot reading. The answer varies - different people wish for different things from life, depending on their life situation, circumstances, personality, family, and so orth. What one person would consider to be the best thing that can happen, could turn another person's life, plans and hopes completely upside down.
Like it is in Tarot so often, the luck is what one wants. For one person the major fullfillment could be a baby. To another one, the greatest thing in the world could be finding love - and yet another person hopes for financial security. To a wealthy person receiving a large sum of money would not make much difference, when in somebody else's life, it would make a huge difference. A baby can be a blessing for somebody who is hoping to become a parent - but, the same card would be devastating to someone who has planned something totally different for his or her life.

There are many cards in the deck that are considered to predict luck - and I will be posting the cards and their meanings, one by one for you, my dear readers, to read.

Death card in a reading

There is no reason to fear this card. In most readings, Death simply symbolizes the end of something that needs to be left behind – and with all endings, new beginning arises. The old has to end to give room for the new.

It is the doubt and suspicion that has been created by the modern day publications - a legend around the card that causes anxiety and fear. There is no reason for anxiety – the card portrays transformation – from one stage to the next, from one condition to the next. Everything in life is destined to end - humans, businesses, relationships, plants….everything has an end. So do different stages in your life.

In many readings, the Death card represents time, and often the picture on the card holds an hour glass. Every person’s life is as long as it is meant to be, no more and no less. We are born, we grow up, learn, become parents, retire, die. Life itself is about change – nothing stays the same forever. It is the change that is symbolized by the Death card – not death itself – just ending of something, and the beginning of something new.

It is extremely rare for the Death card to actually mean a physical death of a person – but I have seen it happen. In all cases that I have seen, it suggested the death of an elderly person, or a person who had suffered from an illness for a long time. The death card showed a new beginning for the person the reading was for. Instead of devoting her life to taking care of her mother, it was time to let go. With the end came a new beginning – she went back to work, went back to school and got a degree, got married……...life goes on, and that is how it is meant to be.

The Death card needs to be read together with the other cards in the spread – and if it’s not clear what the death relates to, ask for clearance and draw an additional card. It can suggest business, friendship, job, marriage, or almost anything that is about to end to give room for something new. The loss of a job can feel like the end of the world when it happens. However, if it wasn’t for that, many people would have stayed right where they are instead of going out there to find new challenges, starting their own businesses……

In one reading that I did for a single mother, the Death simply meant that her children were growing up and it was time to let go. It was a welcome change as this mother had devoted years of her life to her children. Once the children were in college, she finally had the time to finish her own degree, get a better job, and get involved in the society. It was a very positive change. This mother continued to consult me for both tarot and astrology during the entire three year period of her transformation process. Astrologically she was experiencing Uranus transiting conjunct her natal Sun, which also represents an extreme death and rebirth of the ego and identity.

When the Death card is reversed in a reading, it symbolizes some kind of hold-up – either the person the reading is for is desperately trying to hold on to something she/he knows is about to end or needs to end, or that something is ending against her/his will. When this is the case, the client always recognizes the problem but has not been able to find a solution. One common situation is when someone has a well paid job that no longer feels satisfying. Leaving the job is scary, the financial risks are enormous, but still the longer they hang onto it the worse they feel inside.

The end of a relationship is another common situation for the Death card reversed to come up. Moving on in such a situation is often difficult – there can be children, property, or other concerns.

All in all, the Death card is a very positive card to come up in a reading. People too often keep looking back and seeing what they are about to lose, instead of looking forward and gladly

How to read for yourself

I have received numerous e-mails from people, asking for a reading, saying they find it difficult to do a reading for themselves. Some say they feel they are choosing the cards they want to see in their reading. Here are some tips to read for yourself. See if they work for you.

Put on relaxing music.
Meditate prior to your reading.
Focus on the question you want answered. At times, I use a focal point, such as a stone, or a lit candle.
When I read for myself, or for others, I often think of a number before I start shuffling the cards - and shuffle as many times as the number that first came into my mind. For one reason or another, numbers 8 and 15 seem to work for me. Sometimes it also helps to do the spread face down - that way you will not pick out the cards based on seeing which card it is, but rather based on the vibration of the card. Once you have done the spread, turn the cards face up, one by one, in the order your spread normally is. Then read - and trust what you read. You can't go wrong. There is magic in Tarot. Discover it. I would love to give you, my dear readers, much more thorough description of each of the Tarot cards. The information on this blog is sufficient for readings, especially in the beginning, but I know that many of you want to study further, learn more about the history of the cards and the symbols represented on the cards. I will be representing a broader explanation of the cards, one at the time, on these posts here for the readers that are willing to learn more.

The first one I want to introduce is Hierophant, or the Pope, depending on.....
which deck you are using.

The Hierophant is not the easiest card to interpret. This card presents several meanings at once. In most readings, I find this card to represent a vehicle for religious understanding – whether it is religious or spiritual study of some type. The historical meaning of the word Hierophant, well, it suggests a person who spends his whole lifetime studying the texts of his religion. I interpret the references to religion to be what ever higher power the person I am reading to has a connection to. God has many names.

Anyhow, this card refers to a person who is knowledgeable either spriritually, or of a religion, a member of a religious organization, or a student of the teachings of such. The Hierophant is interpreted as the keeper of religious texts or teachings for the sake of teaching others. He is the master of religious wisdom. He guides and teaches his followers, or the followers of his religion. He is the link between the human and God. His duty is to represent God’s word to people honestly, truthfully, and accurately.

When this card is drawn in a reading, the focus is on our certainty and sincerity. This card tells us to look inside – to examine what we believe in, how our beliefs affect us as persons, and how we operate related to our beliefs.

When we look at the picture on this card, we see that the Hierophant holds his right hand up as if blessing his followers. The position of the hand is also somewhat upwards, towards heaven, which further gives the impression of heavenly blessing. People come to the Hierophant to be blessed. His job is to assure that their spiritual needs are met.

In the picture the Hierophant holds a set of keys in his hand. These are often interpreted as the keys to spiritual or religious knowledge and wisdom. For the ancient Greeks, keys symbolized knowledge and life. The keys are crossed as a symbol: The keys to the <place w:st="on"><placetype w:st="on">Kingdom</placetype> of <placename w:st="on">Heaven</placename></place>. The Hierophant is holding the keys – the picture can only be interpreted to mean that the Hierophant is an authority figure who possesses the ability to lead his followers to the <place w:st="on"><placetype w:st="on">Kingdom</placetype> of <placename w:st="on">Heaven</placename></place>.

When I draw this card in a reading, I read it to suggest that a person examine his religious beliefs: Take a good look in the inner self - to see what his relationship is with religion or spirituality. Is it satisfactory, is it working for him? Does he have a calling for religious work? Are his beliefs helping or restricting him? What is his relation to different religious organizations? Is he disciplined and committed enough for spiritual growth? Do people look at him as their leader or advisor in religious matters? If so, does he meet their needs?

These kinds of questions are inevitable when the Hierophant is drawn, and this card is often interpreted to suggest the need of a religious or spiritual teacher, guide or a mentor. Another common interpretation is that you should pay attention to acting in an ethical manner towards other people and in your business dealings.

Thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you for all the e-mails I received as a response to my last posting! It is wonderful to see that so many people read this blog, and even more wonderful it is to see this kind of response after being on the web for such a short time.

I will be posting the free readings as soon as I possibly can - and because I ...
received do many requests, I will try my best and do the Tarot readings for as many of you, my dear readers, as I possibly can. And still no to the numerous questions about paid readings. I can't do any right now. When (if) the time comes and I can take on some more work, I will absolutely notify you on this blog - you, my appreciated readers, will be the first ones to know. This is all so exciting, even though I had no idea how much work is involved in creating a blog.

I also want to thank you for your patience. Getting all this information published here is taking a bit longer than I expected. I promise you that the last ones of the Tarot card meanings will be posted today. I am still working on getting the diagrams of different readings together - those, too, will be published some time during next week.
This is a wonderful card to draw - one of the key ideas is battles that will be won. Some people do not need any help in getting there. However, for most of us (including myself) it, at times is not easy to block out the daily noise pollution from your mind.....
I have found some tools that I use at times, especially when I do readings for others - because when reading for others, I am restricted to their schedule, and cannot always do the reading when my mind is naturally ready for it.

The following website has wonderful, mind quieting videos that I often use to get to the right mindset.

http://experts.patheos.com/expert/ralphmarston/video/

Ralph Marstio has created some wonderful presentations and has published them on his site. Watch and listen to them when ever you get stressed about anything. The videos are inspirational and can be used any time you feel you need it. The presentations "Even Now" and "The Goodness of Life" are my favorite ones. With this website, you do not have to subscribe to anything. You can save it in your favorites and stop by for an inspirational quote of the day, or to watch the presentations.

There are tons of free guided meditations on the web, from beginners to the more experienced persons. The following site offers a couple of free, guided meditations. Real Player is required, and it is good to have earphones during the meditation. The 7-minute relaxation meditation practice works well before a Tarot reading. You might want to try, or you might want to search for a meditation that better suits you. Below is the website for this one. I will be posting more sites here for you to try. Meditation is very personal - what feels right for one, might not feel the same to another. However, there really is no reason to purchase tapes or CD's. There are plenty of them for free available. Later on, once you become more experienced, you can purchase some music to help you meditate. I like to play music during my Tarot readings as well. This, like everything else regarding Tarot, is a personal choice. Some people prefer music, some do just fine without it. I used three cards in the beginning, and drew more for clarification. Later on, once you are more experienced in reading your cards.....
you can add more to get larger, more comprehensive readings.

You will have two separate readings in your spread. First you want to look at the position of the cards in your spread. It has a meaning why one card follows the other, or is before the other. The second reading is to interpret how the cards relate to one another. Each reading tells you something. All you have to do is piece it together.

If something is unclear in your spread, or you feel that you can't quite understand the meaning of a certain card or cards in your reading, you can pull more cards from the deck for clarification. If you need more quidance, you can, after the first reading, reshuffle the deck and ask for clarification. For some readers, it works to keep the initial card that needs clarification as the focal point for the second reading.

You are never limited to one spread or deck. You can switch decks, or do a new spread in the middle of your reading for more guidance. If the spread is not clear, do it again and ask for clarification. Follow your instinct. If it does not make sense, or if you feel you can't read the spread, do it again until you see your answer.

You will know when the reading is over. You will either feel that you reached the end, or the cards simply start repeating themselves to you. Sometimes you know your reading is over when the new cards do not seem to have any meaning or relationship to the reading. One way or another, you will know when you have reached the end of one reading.

How to do a spread?

Once you have everything set up and you are focused, it's time to begin. While shuffling your deck, concentrate on what it is that you want to know. Some feel it's better to to ask open-ended questions than for just yes or no answers. Both work......
and you do which ever you feel more comfortable with. The more clear your question is, the more clear the answer you get will be. You can ask specific questions, or just ask for guidance for you life. Breath deeply, feel comfortable, and focus. Some people meditate for a while before a reading. If that is something you want to try, we will provide some simple meditation practices in our later postings. Come back for more guidance and information. I personally always do a meditation prior to a reading. Often candle light or relaxing music will help me concentrate. Remember, it is all about what you feel is right for you.

Once you feel ready and comfortable, shuffle and do the spread. You can cut the deck, or not - which ever you feel comfortable with. Trust your instinct. If you feel like doing it, then do it. Some people deal the cards from the top of the deck. Others fan them out and randomly draw cards. Others might choose to use a pendulum to draw their cards. You choose. You do what your instinct tells you. There is no wrong way to do the spread. It is your reading. You do it your way.

If a card or cards fall out of the deck at any point when you are handling the deck, put those cards away. There is a reason why they fell out. Those cards do not belong in this reading. Do not interpret those cards - just put them aside.

How to do a reading?

First of all, there is no wrong way to do a Tarot reading. As long as your intent is pure, it does not matter how you spread the cards, or how complicated your set-up is. You will get the answers from the cards. Our suggestions here are only a guide for you in the beginning. You will develop....
your own way that makes you most comfortable. It is your reading.

Most Tarot readers use a cloth over the table or surface they do the reading on. This has a purpose - the color you choose often helps with the vibration of the card. Some people prefer black as it is least likely to interfere with energies. Some people prefer blue, yellow, or purple - these colors are said to have the capability of divinition and psychic ability. What ever color you choose, it is the right one for you. Follow your instinct. The color you like is the one most likely to bring the right vibrations to your reading.

Some Tarot readers prefer to burn incense and/or candles. Some prefer soft music during the reading. Some like to meditate prior to starting a reading. Others do nothing but pull out the cards and start the reading. Again, you do what feels right to you. I normally, at least take a few deep breaths before a reading. Often I meditate prior to a reading. At times, I burn incenses - I love the smell, and it somehow helps me to calm down and focus. The main point is that there is no wrong way. What ever works for you and helps you focus is the right thing for you to do before your reading.

You do not want to be interrupted during your reading. Turn off the TV and your cellular phone. Make sure the room is comfortable - not too hot, not too warm. Wear comfortable clothes. You need to be able to breath freely. You need to be comfortable and at ease.
