I have wanted for a while now to do a photo an hour post. On Thursday it was the first time I actually managed to remind myself to take a photo once every hour! Usually I forget to start or I start and forget myself and before I know it the day is over and I don't even have two pictures.

I wasn't planning on doing the photo an hour on Thursday but as I was running to pick up my nephew I decided that today would be the day. I didn't have my camera with me but I did have my Blackberry so I quickly snapped a photo!

Here it is:

9am - Picking up my nephew and heading back home we saw this umbrella art that was in recognition to the International Women's Day.

10am - wooohoo down to 76.7 kg (169 lbs). I was surprised since I haven't been exercising at all!

11am - My lemongrass plants are rooting like crazy! I sadly had to trow one on the stalks away since it was about to start rotting.

12pm - reading through my sometimes favorite food magazine, I have mixed feelings about it. It is awesome and then when you cook recipes that are in them you don't think it is as awesome. They are very misleading and you just want to cry. But more of that later!

1pm - my nephew doing his homework. He was almost finished!

2pm - knitting as well known as calmness and me time.

3pm - made banana-yogurt-shake for the boys (the nephew and Mr. Handsome)

4pm - cutting my split ends. I finally found my hair scissors and could attack the serious amount of split ends. My hair feels much better already even though I didn't manage to cut them all away.

5pm - putting away laundry, the closet is still almost empty since all the clothes are still in boxes!

6pm - quickly put some nail hardener on, I am growing my nails out again after writing a final essay (I bite my nails when I am stressed writing final essays)

7pm -heading to the store to buy a birthday present for my dad! It gets dark here early even though it is almost spring.

8pm - my favorite part of the mall we went to - Herman's tortoises, this one looked at me when I came over and just begged me to take it with me.

9pm - cooking dinner

10pm - finally ready to go in the oven! This is a recipe from the March issue of the Vegetarian magazine. They said it would take 10 minutes to prepare and 10 minutes to cook. That is load of bullshit. Pardon my language. I started at 9pm and it went in the oven at 10pm.

11pm - and finally ready! Still not as ready as it was supposed to be but I was starving, and the worst thing was it had almost no taste! ANNOYING!

So that was my day!

Friday Make Up

Beginning of last year I tried to post one week of different make ups, I didn't succeed. I managed to do it four times. (Monday, Thursday, Tuesday I, Tuesday II ). This time it is different, last year I was tired all of the time and it just was too hard for me. This time around I have energy and am ready to do it! I might even start writing posts with swaps and all that of these things, today there is just how I decided to use my make up.

Today I woke up early and went to meet my friend. I wasn't wearing any make up because I just had gotten up. When I got back I decided that today would be the day I should start taking the pictures. First let's look at the before picture!

I will write down the things that I used in the order I used them (easier for me to remember what I did):

Skin - I used a concealer from Max Factor called Erace, the tone I used was number 7 called ivory. I really do like it and I might even buy that one again when I finish it.

Eyes -.I am using an eyeliner from M.A.C (same one I used here), it is the Smolder Khôl. It is the same one as I used the last time because I rarely use it and it was kinda lost in my make up box.I am still in love with the Hypnôse Precious Cells mascara from Lancôme and I use it almost every day. I need to buy a new one but I can't decide if I should buy the same one again or buy the Hypnôse Doll Eyes instead. I find it annoying buying the same one again because I love trying new make up.

Lips - I used two things for my lips, a lip liner from Maybelline, it is called COLORsensational and the colour is number 547 Pleasure Me Red. Over that I put on the Universal Lip Glow by L'Oréal to give it a bit shine.

And the end result is taataaaaa:

I brushed my hair too! I can't believe that now it has been over a month since I last time used shampoo and conditioner! But more about that later ;)

Pied Beauty by Gerard Manley Hopkins

I have always loved poems and this semester in my Textual Analysis class we have mostly been talking about poems. Today, I would like to share on of the poems with you. The poem is called Pied Beauty and is written by Gerard Manley Hopkins.

Gerard Manley Hopkins was born in Stratford on July the 28th 1844 and died in Dublin on June the 8th 1889. Gerard Manley Hopkins is considered to be one of the best poets of the Victorian era. Sadly, many of his poems were not accepted for publication until after his death. He never received the recognition that he deserved whilst still alive.

The poem that I am writing my essay about is Pied Beauty. Pied Beauty is a curtal sonnet, it was written in 1877 when Gerard was 33 years old, at that time he had failed his final theology exam and therefore could not become a priest, but published 29 years after his death in 1918. It was one of the first poems he had written in a sprung rhythm style he claimed to have discovered.

In the poem the narrator appreciates all the things God has given the world, mostly that can be found the nature.

Glory be to God for dappled things –

For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;

For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;

Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;

Landscape plotted and pieced – fold, fallow, and plough;

And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;

Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)

With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;

He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:

Happy Shoesday #3

Life is being a little bit crazy these days. Well, that is the understatement of the year. The truth is life is being bat shit crazy and that is just how it is. On the bright side, my birthday is in 6 days and I will have been alive for 23 years and I can handle this bat shit craziness.

I can't believe it is almost December, I as well can't believe that in 2 weeks my exams start! However, today I wanted to make my third (in a row!) Shoesdays. Looking at shoes online keeps me relaxed!

Big assignments make me really uninspired and I have the tendency not to do anything at all. That is somehow how I was feeling with the road trip pictures. We took so many pictures and I wasn't sure if I would be able to post them all before the new year! Thus, I just didn't want to post anything at all. Until today whist on the train I looked trough the pictures (I just couldn't make me study any more) and I organised the pictures and saw that there are only 4 more posts from the road trip! I can finally focus back on make up and things! I have bought some new things I am desperate to share!

These photos were taken before the longest continuous bridge over water in the world (we of course had to drive that bridge! It costs 3 dollars but it is worth it). The bridge is called Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. It starts in a small village called Mandeville and in that village is a park. The park is by the lake and the bridge so we decided to take a quick brake and stretch our legs and make-out underneath a tree.

The trees were dreamy and I just wanted to lie underneath them forever.

I don't think I've put in a picture of the super cute car that drove us all the way with out any problems!

You can see in the distance the bridge going over Lake Pontchartrain.

And the other direction nothing but water. Filthy, gross water!

Now there are two posts left from New Orleans, one from a park we went to and the last one from Galvestone.

I finally found a new photo-edit program that I can use when I'm not online!

New Roads or Poste-de-Pointe-Coupée, Louisiana

I've got still so many pictures still from the road trip! It was an amazing trip! I'm back in Geneva and I know I haven't written anything! My school started as soon as I got back and then one of my professor offended me really badly and I just didn't have any will to write.

New Roads is a cute little village somehow in the middle of nowhere. We only found it because we got lost! But the greatest adventures begin that way.

Walking around the village was super nice, it was quite calming and a pleasant way to spend the day just walking around. They have a lot of shops there and restaurants.

The False River used to be part of the Mississippi River gradually turned into a lake.

I really want to post more picture of the trip but I have as well some new make up that I really want to show so I'll probably gradually post everything and just try to go with the school flow.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (Innis, Louisiana)

One of the things we were looking forward to see on our road trip were things we didn't know about. Almost secret places that we could walk around and discover without a tour guide.

The St. Stephen's Episcopal Church by Innis Louisiana was one of these things, we saw it when we were driving by the Mississippi and decided to stop to walk around. There were two guys there cutting the grass and one of them let us in the church and told us about it quickly before going back to his job.

The church is the oldest brick edifice in Pointe Coupee Parish. The cemetery has a monument to a Confederate Unknown Soldier. It was erected in 1901. The guy told us that during the American Civil War the soldiers would bring their dead comrades over the Mississippi river and bury them in a mass grave there.

The cemetery is as well where Dr. Tichenor was buried. Dr. Tichenor is known for his antiseptic formula called Dr. Tichenor's Antiseptic. We didn't see his grave so I couldn't take a picture of it. But all the graves there were well taken care of as the entire church.

On the monument there was a quote from the Bivouac of the Dead, a poem written by Theodore O'Hara. The quote on the monument is:

On Fames eternal camping ground,

their silent tents are spread,

and glory guards, with solemn sound.

The bivouac of the dead.

But the in the poem it's:

On Fame’s eternal camping-ground

Their silent tents are spread

That Glory guards, with solemn round

The bivouac of the dead.

I'm not sure if it is something they did on purpose or if they just had a different version of the poem.

Natchitoches, Louisiana

Since the second day of the road trip started super early in the morning I needed some good rest to be able to continue. We decided it wasn't a smart idea to try camping again so we drove to Natchitoches. We didn't really know what Natchitoches was so we just stopped at the first hotel we saw. We got there around 3 pm and I was ready to sleep. We took a nap and when it got dark we decided to grab something to eat. We figured out where a Burger King was decided to go for it. We had directions to get there and the plan was just to go the same way back.

You would think that that would work perfectly fine. Well, for us it didn't. All one semi-wrong turn and we were lost! We didn't have the address of the hotel we were staying at and we didn't have a clue where we were! We turned on the GPS and tried to pinpoint where the hotel was, after some time we figured out how to get back and luckily we got there while the french fries were still warm!

The day after we woke up early and went to the Bayou Pierre Alligator Park. When we got out of the park it was still some time before lunch and we didn't want to eat lunch on the road. We headed back to Natchitoches and decided to take a look at the old town there.

The old town there is mostly just one street that's called Front Street and then River Walk. While the Front Street has only shops and restaurants, the River Walk has two historic houses that were moved there.

In a week and one day I'll be heading back to Geneva! It's strange how fast this summer has gone by!

Pendleton Bridge and Toledo Bend Lake

The first night on our road trip we camped - it was hell. Well, it was hell for me. We got there right before it started being pitch dark, barely managed to put up the tent, didn't manage to put it up right. The pump for the air mattress didn't work good so the air mattress was just 25% filled with air. Oh, and don't let me forget it was hot hot hot. I was as well scared, I'm used to camp but there are always quite a lot of people around me when I do, that night it looked like we where the only ones there. All night long I was worried that a serial killer (or just a regular killer) would come and kill us. I kept on hearing dog barks and twigs being broken.

Therefore I barely slept, at 4 40 am I gave up. I was sticky from my sweat and my hair was glued to my skin. I woke up N. and we packed out stuff together and drove away. The only picture I took from there was this one:

I took this picture right before we left, the sun is about to rise and the scene was just gorgeous.

We didn't want to stop again until Louisiana so we drove and drove. After we crossed the Pendleton Bridge (connects Texas and Louisiana) we decided to make a quick stop and stretch our legs.

There was no one else there except for us, it was quiet and peaceful. They had some pick-nick benches around so it's possible to stop there and have a lunch.

I just have 13 days until I arrive back in Geneva, time has gone so quickly by!

Bayou Pierre Alligator Park - Louisiana

On our road trip N and I really wanted to see some alligators. On our way to Natitoches we saw a sign for a Alligator Park. We didn't really think about it that much but than at our hotel we saw a brochure for it and we really wanted to check it out!

In one pool they had baby alligators and there you could hold one and have a picture taken of you with them.

They have feeding shows every half an hour, the show is amazing. There are serious amount of alligators and they leap up in the air to grab the chicken.

In the Alligator Park they had as well a restaurant (good French fries) and other animals. I saw the gorgeous dragon fly. I love dragon flies, they are just amazing.

I saw as well one peacock. It was just standing there doing nothing, sadly it didn't spread it's tail for us.

It's not hard to get there, just drive on highway 1 and it's between Powhatan and Natchitoches. There is a big alligator school bus by the road you should turn into.

I'm sorry that I haven't been posting anything, N. and I went on a road-trip for two weeks. It was amazing. I'm just getting into routine again and that means hopefully more writing. I've got tons of pictures, both that I took and that N. took. This one N. took of me right before we drove into Galveston (or as I like to call it G-town). I'm really looking forward to share my favourite places that we went to see in Louisiana and Texas.

Deep Eddy Pool

Yesterday I went with Ariane and her lovely family for a Austin outing. The last location of our mini trip was the Deep Eddy Pool. It's the oldest swimming pool in Texas! The water comes from a spring so there is no chlorine in it! All that just equals an amazing experience and an amazing pool.

One funny thing about the pool trip was when I had been in the water for some time all the lifeguards blew their whistles and everyone left the pool. For a moment I was sure that someone had pooped in the pool or something like that. What it really was is that every hour all the people that aren't swimming have to leave the pool for 10 minutes. They do this to prevent hypothermia.

At Deep Eddy they were still working on a mosaic mural. It was stunning, it should have been finished in July but there was still a lot of things not finished.

The detail of the mural is amazing! Look at those little fishes!

This summer they had Deep Eddy Splash Party, there is one day left August 6th and they'll show Tangled.

Nail Polish of the Week - Teal - Love and Beauty - Forever 21

Since I arrived here in Austin I've been really psyched about trying all these things you can't get in Geneva. One of these things is (of course) Nail polishes.

I went to Forever 21 and wanted to buy some clothes. That didn't work, nothing looked good on me! I walked around the store and found my favourite thing in the world: Nail polish! I bought three bottles of it, I mean they were only $2.80!

When I tried to paint my nail with the nail polish I realized how thick it was, sadly it wasn't thick and colourful it was thick and the colour was too light.

Since it was so thick there were air bubbles, this was just one layer! Usually I never get any bubbles.

I decided to take quickly some pictures so that I wouldn't damage it and then would have to do it again to get some pictures.

It was super messy because the brush was just bad, it was small and sometimes it grabbed a lot of nail polish but didn't distribute it evenly. In general it was just awful.

And then this happened. I had waited for over ten minutes to do anything with my nails, I wasn't even doing anything with my nail I was just turning the nail polish bottle around. I had to remove the nail polish from my nails, on all my nails the nail polish was still kinda wet. Something I really HATE about nail polishes.

After I took it all of I took this last picture showing the name of the nail polish. I wanted to show that one too because the colour is really not teal, it's more like pine tree green.

I will try the other two that I bought from Forever 21 but I doubt that I'll buy any more nail polish from them again.

Book of the Month (Part I) Soulless by Gail Carriger

I finally finished Soulless by Gail Carriger, I say finally because I've been talking about it for a while now! I bought it when I was in Helsinki and just never finished reading it! The golden opportunity came when I was stuck in London over a night for a layover. There in the underground I finally finished it! FINALLY!

The strange thing is, that this book is quite good. It's interesting and funny and the story line is not that bad! For me that rarely happens these days! The main protagonist of the story is Alexia Tarabotti. Alexia is preternatural, being preternatural means that she doesn't have any soul (in the books), whenever she touches someone that is supernatural they some of the other characters in the book are Lord Conall Maccon a werewolf and the alpha of the BUR (Bureau of Unnatural Registry). Lord Akeldama a gay vampire that knows all the things that are happening.

There are a lot of characters in this book and I got sometimes confused by the massive amount of names. Another thing I didn't like was the ending, well the way the ending was written, all mashed down into couple of pages.

The story itself was quite intriguing, there was some steampunkness but not too much, there was decent amount of romance but it wasn't too mushy. Most of the characters were likeable and the story had a good flow!

And now for my favourite part of writing about the books: quotes!

Page 65: Miss Tarabotti stood, marched over, and grabbed Lord Maccon's wrist. His teeth retracted instantly. The earl's yellow eyes went back to amber-brown. It was the color they must have been years ago before he yielded to the bite that made him supernatural.

Page 112: The kiss itself was quite gentle: slow and soft. Alexia found it surprising given the violence of his embrace. She also found it faintly unsatisfying. She gave a little murmur of frustration and leaned in toward him. Then the kiss changed. It became harder, rougher, parting her lips with purpose. There was even, shockingly, tongue involved in the proceed.

Page 191: One of the other men broke away from the fighting group and sprinted after her attacker. Alexia doubted he would arrive in time. The waxed faced man moved with utter efficiency and economy of motion, less a man running than a water snake slithering.

Page 232: Lord Akeldama and Alexia both stood. Alexia grabbed her brass parasol, gripping it firmly in both hands. Lord Akeldama reached for the gold pipe art piece from the mantel. He pressed hard at a hidden button in the midpoint, and a curved, hooklike blade sprang out each end of the pipe and clicked into place. One was sharpened ironwood, the other solid silver. Not art, as it turned out.

Gail Carriger has written three other books with the same character, the forth one is supposed to be published in March 2012. I'm planning on ordering at least Changeless for my kindle this summer.

Right now I'm reading The Name of the Wind - Kingkiller Chronicles, Day one by Patrick Rothfuss. I've read 11% of it and like it so far. Check out my other Book of the Month posts.

Nail Polish Comparison

It's not lie that I love nail polishes. I've got a nice sized collection and always love buying new ones. Last week I was looking into buying a new colour when I saw this one from Revlon called 375 Passion Fruit.

In the bottle it looked almost identical to one of my favourite nail polish from O.P.I called Ate Berries in the Canaries. I just had to check it out and see how similar they looked on my nails.

As you can see they look almost identical. I find that the O.P.I is more brighter than the Revlon and I found the Revlon chip more than the O.P.I.

The extra plus to Revlon was the scent that it had when it dried, I'm not sure if it was supposed to smell like passion fruit or what, but it smelled sweet.

I'll probably use both of them since sometimes I do like to have a little more dull colour on my nails but I do like the brightness of the O.P.I more.

Sorry for no posting, I've had had crazy weeks and travels. But now I've arrived at my final destination :)

Last night I was browsing around looking for some cute blogs. As I was reading A Girl Named Astrid I saw on the side of her blog something called Bloglovin'. I didn't really think of it then but this morning my curiosity grew. So I checked it out and loved it and now I'm a part of it.

I'm as well thinking about changing the design of my blog, I can't do it right now but it's slowly happening. I just must get a bit more organized so that everything will fit nicely into my life. I in general must get seriously more organized.

I kinda have to go back to studying. My last exam is tomorrow.

Daily Life Pictures

I'm sorry I haven't been writing, it's just I have finals and finals suck. The thing is I'm very good at failing and I don't want to fail these exams. There are couple of reasons I don't want to fail them. First I love psychology and I want to be a psychologist when I grow up. I want to help parents and children have a more peaceful and happy life. Secondly I have worked so hard for this. SO HARD! I've been studying and studying for an entire YEAR! And if I fail this entire year goes down the drain. So I haven't been doing many things except for studying.

This will be all over on Wednesday and then I might just cry. It's not like I haven't been having tiny meltdowns now for almost a month. The reasons for the tiny meltdowns is that I'm used to fail, I am a pro at failing. I could organize a seminar about the different ways of failing. I just don't know what I will do if I fail this.

Zibbet Finds of the Week - Aprons

I'm glad that I can say that the re-sellers that I found on Zibbet have now been taken care of, but as soon as that happened I saw another one that has been open since beginning of March. I reported that one as well (gosh I'm such a reporting bitch) and we'll see what happens. Apparently nothing can happen for 48 hours! (Wrote this on Sunday, it seems to be have removed). I made a forum post on Zibbet about what I find to be a re-seller problem and people weren't happy with that post. Therefore I'm not even sure any more if I want to do these Zibbet finds of the Week any more (I know what people will never be in these posts!)
