Forex is short for Foreign Exchange and cannot be compared with the shares (like Nasdaq). The currencies are traded between the central bank and the brokers. Currency can be traded in pairs, like EUR/USD. EUR is the basic and USD the second. This means that EUR/USD can be 1.3000 where one EUR is 1.3000 USD.

Forex products prices are displayed with two or four decimals (e.g. €/$ 1.12 or 1.1234). The decimal holds the name “pip”. To be able to trade on the Forex Market, you'll need an account. The brokers can give you access to the market and offer different account types. A minimum deposit of $25 to $25,000 is required, when you like to enter the market with real money.

The winning and losing of money by buying or selling currency, is displayed in pips. If you, for example, win five pips (1.3000 to 1.3005) and you own 100,000 pairs, you'll win $50 (0.0005*100,000). We advice you, as a starter, to only deal with small pairs.

For me as a professional I look first for the safety of my funds. Look at the best banks in the world especially after the financial crisis of 2008. UBS, LEMAN BROTHERS, also in 2005 the fall of the biggest Futures brokers in the world REFCO. They all had problems and some of them went bankrupt. This is to say that you have to choose a good REGULATED broker, NOT A BVI BROKER but more an EU regulated broker or UK or US. Single loss is not your fault. It’s not even the market’s fault. And it’s not your system’s fault. It’s just a loss. No trader or system can guarantee 100% winning rate. So, losses should happen. Trading doesn’t work with a single loss or win; it works with the loss rate and risk-to-reward ratios. If your risk-to-reward ratio doesn’t compensate your poor loss-to-win ratio, you still don’t have to blame yourself, the market or your system. Probably, it’s just the wrong system for the market you are trading in. Time changes and the old systems stop working, while the new ones are created. Just switch to something else and continue your pursuit of success.
Single winning position is not an indicator of your success. The same as with the losses don’t treat a single win as your accomplishment. It’s just a part of the routine process of trading Forex.
If your winning rate is high during the long period of time and the risk-to-reward ratio is rather low then I can congratulate you with finding the right strategy that worked fine for the kind of market you were trading on during that period. That’s it! Stick with it until your winning rate declines below the satisfying level. Then look at the number 2.
