Henna, kohl, harquus, and tattooing were traditional expressions of women’s beauty, desirability, celebration, and leisure. Through the twentieth century, expensive imported western clothing and western cosmetics replaced home made cosmetics as status symbols. Harquus became associated with the unsophisticated rural poor, while lipstick and an unmarked face became associated with the urban, wealthy, educated, modern woman.
Islam does not permit tattooing, and Muslim men rarely tattooed. However, most of nominally Muslim North African and Middle Eastern women tattooed,
saying, “We have always done this, it is our tradition.” Even then, some women felt the traditional tattoos were sinful, and scorned those who tattooed.
Judaism does not permit tattooing, and North African and Middle Eastern Jewish women were less likely to tattoo than Muslim women. They marked their cheeks and brows with harquus in the same patterns as Muslim women tattooed, and occasionally tattooed because of social pressure. Ethiopian Coptic Christian women tattooed, and Christians who had made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem had "souvenir tattoos."
Present-day women who feel their religious beliefs or social situation prohibit tattooing can wear these patterns in temporary cosmetics if they wish to enjoy the beauty and heritage of this body art.

Apadravya piercing, Kama Sutra piercing

Some people practice piercing for religious or cultural reasons, while many individuals choose to be pierced for spiritual, ornamental, or sexual reasons, or as a form of rebellion in punk, heavy metal, and alternative culture in the modern West.
The apadravya is the most painful male piercing because it passes through the most sensitive part of the penis. It is generally thought of as the most pleasurable for female sexual partners, since the top of the piercing is positioned such that it contacts the G-spot in vaginal intercourse.
Variations include the shaft apadravya which pierces the shaft (not performed by many piercers); the magic cross which is a combination of the apadravya and the ampallang; and the apadydoe. If the penis has been subincised or meatotomized, the piercing is called a halfadravya.
While the ampallang passes horizontally through the glans, the apadravya passes vertically through the glans from top to bottom, almost always placed centrally and passing through the urethra.
The healing time is 4-8 months.
The apadravya piercing is mentioned in the Kama Sutra.

The three dots : Mi vida loca tattoo, See no Evil, Hear no Evil

For Hispanic and Asian gangs, three dots in a triangle, usually found on the skin between the thumb and forefinger, signify mi vida loca ("my crazy life"), and tôi không cần gì cả ("I need nothing") in Vietnamese.
In the southeast region of Turkey it is a symbol known as "Gormem, Duymam, Soylemem" meaning that "I hear nothing, I see nothing and I tell nothing".
In France, the dots stand for 'Mort Aux Vaches', in slang 'Death to cops'. It can also be interpreted as 'Fuck the World'.
For Hispanic gangs, the three dot represents a member gangbanging with each other as equals. As a Sureño (gang) symbol, the tattoo is worn between thumb and forefinger because it is believed to be harder to remove. The Sureño gang number is thirteen, using Arabic or Roman numerals, or a combination of both: 13, XIII, or X3. This signifies the 13th letter of the alphabet, the letter M, meaning "La Eme" or "The M"; the Mexican Mafia. Numerals are also incorporated into the tattoos, such as Tres Puntos ("Three dots") or X3, which is the representation for the number 13 within the Aztec numeral system.

"Los Cinco Puntos"

A tattoo consisting of five dots, four in a rectangle and one in the middle usually found on the skin between the thumb and forefinger,is known in Argentina as "Los Cinco Puntos", stands for "Muerte a los ratis" (Death to the cops), and it's supposed to represent one police officer being surrounded by four delinquents.
It is also a tattoo for Vietnamese gang members. These bring luck, prosperity, longevity or, most commonly, protection. For this reason, many in hazardous employ seek the reassurance of a Yantra tattoo. Most are soldiers like the great king Jayarvarman VII, who was said to be magically protected "in such away that even knives and arrows hitting his body could not wound him." Cambodia. A Yantra is usually obtained from a monk. Yantra tattoos are a Khmer tattoo and the tattoo may contain ancient Khmer or Pali text.
Angelina got on her left shoulder blade a Yantra tattoo to protect herself and Maddox from bad luck and avoid accidents. The incantation translate to:
May your enemies run far away from you.
If you acquire riches, may they remain yours always.
Your beauty will be that of Apsara. Today, there have been mummies recovered dating to as early XI Dynasty exhibiting the art form of tattoo. One is that of Amunet, a priestess of the-goddess Hathor, at Thebes. This female mummy displayed lines and dots tattooed about her body.
A second mummy "the dancer" also found depicted this same type of line pattern. This mummy also had a cicatrix pattern over her lower pubic region. The various design patterns also appeared on several figurines that date to the Middle Kingdom, these figurines have been labeled the "Brides of Death."
Another mummy found datable to about 2000 B.C. also displayed tattoos on her body resembling that of Amunet and the dancer. "Such tattoos created by grouping dots and/or dashes into abstract geometric patterns demonstrate the long duration of tattoo in ancient Nubia, as recent excavations at the Nubian site of Aksha demonstrat", said an egyptologist.
Excavators at Aksha uncovered a number of mummies of both adolescent and adult women with blue (or black-blue) tattoos in the same configurations as those found on the three Egyptian mummies from the Middle Kingdom.
These dot-and-dash patterns have been seen for many years throughout Egypt. The evidence to date suggests that this art form was restricted to women associated with ritualistic practice.

Sacred Tattoos in Wat Bang Phra, Thailand

Some tattoos in Thailand are administered by high-ranking monks. Tattoos can be sacred or magical. The ink is derived from charcoal, lampblack or Indian sepia and then mixed with herbs, sap, lizard skins, buffalow bile and all sorts; tattoos have poems, ancient symbols and spells written into them. Certain images convey certain meanings. Dragons depict strength and wisdom, wild boars fierceness. A lion signifies dignity and strength. A tiger on the chest is for protection from injury.
Invisible tattoos written in sesame oil instead of ink are for women. The design heals into a feint welt but the magic spell remains undiluted.
Once a year at Wat Bang Phra, 30 miles west of Bangkok, thousands of young men gather to be tattooed by monks. The monks too, are heavily tattooed. Wat Bang Phra’s tattoos come with promises of protection and prosperity, and the temple is the only one offering a second skin of protective spells.

Inked or not inked, that's the question

I'm sure you'll agree tattoos are 'for life'.

If you don't make an educated decision there may come a time
when you regret what you did.

If you already have one or several tattoos I hope you're
proud of them, but most importantly comfortable in your own
skin.

Think about not just the short-term gratification but also the
long term weight attached.

Will you still be ok with them no matter what direction you may
take in life?

Do you want to still have it when you have kids in the future
and are a father/mother?

Will it still be ok with you then?

I remember a guy who got a huge devil tattoo on his back 10
years ago when he was in his early twenties. I wonder how he
feels about it now...

If you're thinking about going for ink...I recommend you think
about it for a few weeks just to make sure that you're totally
ok with it.

Either be 140% convinced about the decision or don't do it at
all.

If you want to get a tattoo it IS a decision that is not to be
taken lightly although now they do have laser removal. You
should never see that as an option.

However strange it may sound, I would personally never recommend
anyone to get a tattoo, despite my own love of tattoos.

You are an adult and you can make your own decisions.

When making the decision to get a tattoo, always ask yourself
for what reason you're doing it. Don't do it from social
pressure or for anyone else...do it for yourself!

If you after having asked yourself the questions above are fully
sure that you want a tattoo, and know what you want, then GO FOR
IT!

The right tattoo - one that looks good and means something to
you, is an extension of your character and something to be proud
of..

Now go get an idea for that tattoo!
http://galite22.18356.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=BLOGGER

Where are you going to place your next tattoo

Deciding on a location for your tattoo can be as difficult
as choosing a design for your tattoo...

One important decision to make is whether you want your
tattoo to be visible to the world or in a more intimate
location where only you and your beloved will see the
tattoo?

The largest organ of the body is the skin so there are
certainly a lot of options when deciding where to place your
tattoo.

Although tattoos can go just about anywhere, some popular
tattoo locations include the bicep, the calf, the ankle, the
back, the hip and even the neck and the chest.

For girls some of the most popular tattoo locations include
the calf, the hip and the lower back.

Most girls opt for smaller tattoos in these locations and in
the case of the lower back and the hip the tattoo is not
always fully visible.

Guys are more visible by nature so it comes as no surprise
that they typically have tattoos in locations that are more
visible to other people, like the bicep, shoulder or neck.

Does size really matter? to get is obviously a very
important decision, right?

There are so many options to choose from but the bottom line
is that you should choose something that has significance to
you.

This may require a lot of thought but it is best to really
think about what you want before you have a tattoo done to
make sure that you will not regret the tattoo later on.

There are too many options to mention but just a few include
religious, tribal, words, cartoons, and just about anything
you can think of. You can even get a tattoo that bears a
likeness to a loved one.

The other options to consider are black and white tattoos or
color tattoos. These choices are a matter of personal
preference and there are no right or wrong answers.

The most important thing about choosing a tattoo is to choose
something that is special to you. That is all that really
matters. As long as you like your tattoo, it doesn't matter
what anyone else thinks about it.

Those who are happy with their tattoos and those who feel as
though their tattoo has special meaning are much less likely
to regret their tattoo.

Choosing black and white or color for your tattoo is another
decision you will have to make. Again personal preference is
the most important factor.

Your tattoo is a lifelong investment so don't let the price
persuade you to pick one over the other. Some tattoos may
look better in black and white such as pictures while
cartoons may look better in color.

Choose what you like best and you are sure to be happy with
your decision.

There are so many options to choose from that it may seem
overwhelming.

TattooMeNow.com is the best place to start your tattoo
design search because we are offering thousands of different
tattoos divided into categories that make searching for a
design really easy.

They offer a LIFETIME membership so whether you are looking
for your first and only tattoo or whether you are always
adding new tattoos, you will always have the option of
browsing our gallery for the tattoos of your dreams.

5 Steps to Your Dream Tattoo

1. Don't be impulsive. Sure spontaneity may be great
when it comes to keeping a relationship alive but when it
comes to tattoos it is better to only get a tattoo after you
have thought about it quite a bit. This will help to keep
you from regretting your tattoo after it is done

2. Chose your design. Once you are sure you want a
tattoo it's time to start thinking about what type of design
you would like. This is a very personal choice. You may opt
for something meaningful, fun or simply pretty. Whatever you
decide remember that it's your decision and you will be
happiest with a design you choose yourself

3. Test out your design. After choosing a design, you might want to try having some temporary tattoos made that you
can use to decide whether or not you really like the design
and where you think it looks best. Have fun and try out a
number of locations on your body before making your decision.

4. Chose an artist. Finding a tattoo artist is a very
personal decision. Be careful to check out examples of their
previous work. You might also want to meet with the tattoo
artist to see if the two of you get along and if you think
the tattoo artist understandswhat you are looking for in a
tattoo.

5. Maintaining your tattoo. It will take about a month
for your tattoo to heal and the way you take care of it during
this time can affect how well it lasts. The two most important
things you can do to ensure that your tattoo lasts is to keep
it clean and most. Try washing your tattoo 4-5 times a day and
protected with a quality healing product. Your tattoo artist
will probably be able to recommend a product for you to use.

Review of TattooMeNow

TattooMeNow.com is a site for people who like the art of tattoos and are looking for new tattoo ideas but are fed up with surfing the net not finding what they are looking for.

Good tattoo designs are almost impossible to find online. That's the reason they started TattooMeNow.com

Weeks and weeks have been spent looking for resources of tattoo designs that meet their standards and then putting them together creating a huge searchable directory of tattoo designs.

The kinds of images you'll find when investing in a TattooMeNow.com membership are not photos of tattoos on people's bodies (even though you will find that too in their "Member Gallery") but the same kind of pictures you'll find on the walls and in the binders at your local tattoo studio. The difference is that at TattooMeNow.com you can browse the designs at home and you have all the time in the world to find your perfect design, that you then can take to a tattoo artist of your choice.

Maybe you're just looking for some inspiration for your own unique tattoo. With currently over 3,500 designs (they are frequently adding new designs) in their directory you have a huge resource of tattoo ideas to your disposal.

At TattooMeNow.com they believe in satisfied customers, that's why they are offering a 60 day money back guarantee if you for any reason isn't satisfied with their product.

Review of Chopper Tattoo

Tattoos and Piercings
Are you a fan of tattoos? Tattoos are permanent. They are designs put on your sking with pigments injected into the top layer of your skin with needles.

Here is how tattoos are created: A needle is connected to an apparatus with tubes which contain dye. These needles pierce the skin multiple times kind of like a sewing machine but on your skin. The needle inserts tiny drops of ink creating the tattoo. Tattoos can hurt and a large tattoo can take up to several hours to create. The tattoo may even bleed

What arre the downsides of getting a tattoo?
You are piercing your skin so you may be a risk for more skin infections if you get a tatoo or piercing.

If you get a tattoo you put yourself at risk for getting blood related diseases. If the machine the tattoo artist uses you can you can get hepatitis C, hepatitis B, tetanus, tuberculosis and even HIV.

If you use red ink in your tattoos you may get a rash with bumps.

Tattoos can also lead to bacterial infections. The symptoms are redness, warmth, swelling and pus.

Again if you use red ink in your tattoo this can cause allergic reactions that can last for years.

Your tattoo will also require cleaning and maintenance. Your tattoo artist will give you instructions on how to clean and maintain your tattoo. You should apply skin care products and avoid too much exposure to the sun for your tattoo.
Especially in the beginning.

Tattoos takes several days to heal. Do not pick at the tattoo. Give the tattoo time to heal properly.

What if you want to get rid of your tattoo? This is very common.

Tattoo removal is difficult and often still leaves scars and skin discolorations.

Laser surgery if the best way to get rid of a tattoo. Laser beams penetrate the top layer of the skin and the light is accepted by the tattoo. This method may demand up to 10 treatments over a period of a year and even then the tattoo might not completely dissapear.

Another method of tattoo removal is called Dermabrasion. The tattoo is frozen until the skin is numb then the skin is sanded down. This method does not hurt very much but it usually leaves a scar.

You can also remove that tattoo surgically but this invariably leaves a scar.

John the Tattoo and Piercing Guy runs the Tattoo and Piercing Blog at http://tattoo--piercing.blogspot.com/ where you can learn all about tattoos and piercings.

Tattoos and Piercing

Welcome to my blog about tattoos and piercing.
