I think these chef themed T-Shirts from Stove Monkeys are a great example of niche t-shirt marketing that, given the right designs, could be very successful using the web. I love the Save the Foie T-shirt and I’m sure Anthony Bordain would approve

I’ve got some cute tees for you this Friday!

I was going through the e-mails & found this entertaining site, Tolky Monkys.  The tee designs are cute & they’ve got these great engrish-esque stories that go along with them. Vampire bunnies? Confused Aliens? Mimes? Sold.

Upper Playground just released their June line of tees, and Shy Diving charmed me.  Like the tees on Tolky Monkys, this one has a story:

You will never feel safer when jumping out of an airplane than when you are equipped with a friendly giant hedgehog, who happens to have a bad feeling about the whole situation in his gut. If and when you get to hang around with a hedgehog of this size, can you imagine how big that hedge where he lives must be? We at superFishal think this is a great shirt for hedgehog lovers and daredevils alike.

Instead of words, i’ll just resort to saying “gwee!”

I was looking through vegan tees, trying to get back into the vegan mindset & stumbled across this great shirt, Eat Like You Give A Damn.

SO AWESOME.

And for animal cuteness overload, i loved the “I’m Vegan and I Love You” shirt.

All i gotta say is - i think you should eat what is best for your body, but EAT LIKE YOU GIVE A DAMN!

In addition to the positive messages the shirts are made of eco friendly fabrics and even the server is run on wind derived power and the printers run on elastic bands… no i’m kidding about that one. Anyway, check them out, I met the owner at his birthday party at Cafe Gratitude and I can tell you he was a genuinely nice guy, and even though I’d only just met him he invited me out to celebrate with him and his friends and they were all wonderfully warm and welcoming.

I really like the way this is designed to look like a beer label, particularly reminiscent of the Löwenbräu brand. One of the fantastic things they do on the site is give the purchaser the option to direct their donation to a particular cause, this is a feature I would like to see on more ecommerce platforms.

Their are lots of calls for submissions on the site and they do offer cash prizes for designs that are selected. My one quibble on the site is there is very little disclosure or transparency for the people who are submit designs, I couldn’t find anywhere on the site what you may win or any details like that. If these guys could use a threadless like voting model combined with their desire to help non-profits I think they would have a killer combination.

Just got this email from the awesome folks at Threadbanger about a scavenger hunt they’re going to be running with Twitter on sunday at the Makers Faire this Sunday in San Francisco. The Makers Faire is a wonderful DIY extravaganza full of wonderful creative oddities and wonders.

I’m always loving the Blood is the New Black stuff and I particularly like this unusually inspirational one

First, i don’t really know what Androids Always Win is about — Maybe i’m missing out on some inside joke?  I like the t-shirts anyway.  Note the little cylon inside the muni bus!  I’m dying of cute over here.

And finishing up with a nice, sci-fi geeky touch, I give you Ray Guns!  I think this is partially inspired by a great theater experience with the new Star Trek.
