The managers are now having to do a great amount of the cooking, cleaning and general labor tasks. Maintenance work is now being done by the managers on such things as the air conditioning on the roof.

The present economy is actually a depression. They want us to believe that it's a recession. But the entire spectrum of our culture as it concerns corporations; banking; real estate; retail; products and manufacturing; has been impacted dramatically. It will never actually be the same; because we are so dominated by corporations. Corporations have engulfed us.

Ultimately, it's those very few people at the top, that is adversely; and permanently; damaging our civilization. They want their revenue streams into their own pockets to remain high. It's all about them and their narcissism.

So this brings to the title of the article. One of the many things that is being done corporately is the restructuring of job duties and workloads. Operations managers on the lower rungs – store managers, restaurant managers, and the like; have been reduced in number per store unit. Where once you had management teams from three to five – you now have two to three.

Higher salaried General Managers and Area Directors are suddenly and mysteriously being fired for "Lack Of Performance". But their replacements are usually younger, and paid much less for the same job.

Costs for hourly employee labor has also been reduced dramatically. Not only in number of employees; but also in number of job positions per shifts. This means that the managers are now having to do a great amount of the cooking, cleaning and general labor tasks. Maintenance work is now being done by the managers on such things as the air conditioning on the roof.

It's imperative you know what your getting into before accepting a job. Actually go and ask managers who are with the company what they feel about any changes they have experienced. Find out what the rumors amongst them are; about the present and near future of the company.

In the end, I foresee a grass-roots resurgence in the privately owned Mom N' Pop shops. More and more individuals and families will need to start their own businesses. We need to press this movement into being and all be supportive of it. We as a society need to take back our destinies from corporations. Lets face it; we all like the charm of the non-corporate shops, restaurants and bars.

Job Security. Your families Quality Of Life. And your very own sanity during the course of the one life you have to live. These are but a few of the things that we all care for unitedly.

I realize I haven't made my point quite clear – so let me close with a recap.

Jobs are scarce right now. At least, in finding a job that would give us the comfort we had with the previous. When you do get a job in the present economy; it will most likely be at lessor pay; and the benefits won't be as great (sucky). The hours you work will be longer; and a much greater workload.

If you could find a way to pull it off. You will be better off in the long run by starting your own business. You've seen and loved those little private owned businesses; and now it's time to conceptualize one yourself. You will be in control of your own destiny and future welfare.

Apply common sense; think of practical ways to provide a product; service; or eniviroment that people will like.

KEEP THINGS SIMPLE AND PRACTICAL.

Discipline Yourself.

Good Luck

The means and ways of maintaining contact info for job references from years in your past.

As the years roll by like water rushing under a bridge – the people we know change; and especially their locations and contact info. This creates a problem; if ever the need arises for you to job hunt. Having past references to give; from bosses to co-workers; is something that will eventually come up toward the end of the interviewing/hiring process.

Lets face it; most of us will call and say hi to a former co-worker a few times – but as time passes; so does this random action. Eventually we lose contact altogether. Phone numbers have changed; companies have changed; so have the cities. The only real way to counter this loss is to realize the importance of at least scheduling annual; if not biannual; "Contact Days". A day or two dedicated to followup with old comrades and bosses.

It doesn't have to be all done the same way. You can call some to verify their number works; and email or send a card to the others.

But most important - always verify at least annually that contact info for future use is still good.

When you do get in touch with them; learn every thing you can. You can have a great and charming conversation with past friends and co-workers that is also informative. Get their full info; and contact info from them of others you mutually knew.

Use Facebook And LinkedIn

Facebook and LinkedIn could also help. So definitely take the time to fully fill out everything in the profiles they have online of you; and use their search functions to try and find people.

Be sure to use your full real name. Fill in former jobs and schools. Then go searching for people by name; search cities you lived for groups; former companies for groups, etc..

I was actually shocked a few months ago; when I finally started paying attention to Facbook . Within four days, I was connected again to nearly thirty people I haven't seen in twenty years or more!

I was shocked!

These were great friends over the course of years. College; Grade School; High School; various old jobs;……..WOW!

But somewhere along the way we all took different turns in Albuquerque.

Tweeter And StumbleUpon

Tweeter has finally come along and caught fire. Its great for maintaining contact with the people you know today – and if everyone catches on to this; you'll be able to give that occasional impromptu shout out to people. It has the ability to serve as an alternative type of contacts list. Again use your real name. This makes it so much easier to hook up with people.

StumbleUpon is another billboard for yourself to be contacted; and a means by which to possibly find other people. StumbleUpon is really a no-brainer – surf the net and create an online findable presence at the same time with no effort. You'll be surfing the net oblivious to any work happening to your benefit as by-product. Just be sure not to surf adult material that might make you look bad. Don't "Thumbs Up" to favorites anything NSFW.

How To Keep In Touch With You

All these profiles; email addresses; and GoogleVoice numbers should be printed on a personal business card along with your name and street address. These you can give out to people you want to have it. Something separate from your professional company cards.

Having a blog with a domain that is your real name; is another way to keep a search engine optimized billboard of yourself to the world. Getting a free one to start and advancing to your own stand alone site is how most people start.

Do all this asap. I have friends of late who found their ass out in the cold – due to no contact info for the people who would have given them glowing references.

The very people who remember you well must be kept up with before you actually need them as references.

So don't screw yourself; get started today.

A study generating national attention illustrates that bill O’Reilly makes use consistently of propaganda techniques identified in the 1930's.

A study generating national attention illustrates that Bill O’Reilly makes use consistently of propaganda techniques identified in the 1930's.

Professor Mike Conway is co-author of a study focusing on the oft-discussed media personality Bill O’Reilly. While many have accused the Fox News anchor of inciting fear and bias among his audience, what makes Conway and his colleagues’ research unique is quantitative data to back up their claims.

Conway, along with IU telecommunications professor Maria Elizabeth Grabe and journalism doctoral student Kevin Grieves, picked up where the Institute for Propaganda Analysis left off in the 1930s, using a system of coding speech that analyzes the use of propaganda.

"It was supposed to be a way for the public to determine if someone is giving them propaganda instead of facts," Conway said.

The IPA originally studied the rhetoric of Catholic priest Charles Coughlin, whose popular radio broadcasts during the years linking World War I and World War II often voiced anti-Semitic and even pro-Nazi views.

They looked for the seven elements of propaganda previously identified by the IPA: name calling, glittering generalities, transfer, testimonial, plain folks, card stacking and band wagon. Techniques were measured by the number of times they occurred in a minute, a strategy Conway said he thought would counteract the different lengths of the two men’s broadcasts.
