Here is how you play both games:

Grab some friends.
Take turns shaking the can and then drawing a card from the space can.
Answer  the card (or read the word) and keep it if you are right.
Follow directions on the special cards.  See the special cards below you may draw.

Get an alien and you must put a card back in the tin… but you get to keep the alien.
Get an astronaut and you get to draw two more cards. 
Get a planet and you must pick a friend to give the planet to.
Get the out of the word card and keep it plus take a card from each player.

When all cards are gone from the can, count cards to find a winner.  Who has the most cards???

You can download the CVC game here.  Just print the cards on cardstock and cut.  Place them in the can.  Now have fun playing and reviewing…

If you have followed Teaching Heart for a bit, you know I love to spice up learning with food.  Keeps the kiddos interested and excited!  Plus they work so hard, it’s nice to have a treat every once in a while.  I know, I know, some of you cannot use food at school to foster learning.  I have on my sad face for you!  Sorry!  I have plenty more ideas on my V-day theme page for you to use.  Click here and see!!! 

For those that can use a treat here and there, here’s a free activity for you.  It’s funny,  I have made so many of these over the years for the different seasons and/or fruit themed snacks that I had to spend 40 minutes searching my site and files to make sure I was not recreating a heart shaped fruit snack activity that I have already done.  LOL!!!  I have been at this for over 10 years now and it’s amazing what I forget! 

So I have two activities…  one for Prek, K, and First.  It’s a simple sort and count sheet.

I have one for the more advanced math students – Grades 1, 2, and 3.  They will need to create a graph, read it, and  answer questions about it.  Then, they are asked to look at a friend’s graph and tally their friend’s results, and finally finish up by comparing the two results!  Wowza…  That’s a lot of learning in a little bag of snacks.

Erase and Draw a Rhymes are a great way to throw in some rhyming fun!  In the past I have shared the free Gingerbread one here.  There is a Cupid one here - It is part of the Vday Packet.    Here is one you can use on Feb. 2nd to help you celebrate Groundhog Day with your class.

You can choose to give everyone in your class page 2.  Read the class the rhyme on page 1 and have them draw in the parts as you go.  I would do this with Kindergarten and PreK.  For first and second you can give them the sheet to fill in and then page 2 for them to draw once they have filled in the blanks.

Here is another roll and draw.  Isn’t he a cute little penguin? 

Supply dice and some crayons.  Students take turns rolling until the first student has drawn a Penguin. Tip:  Need dice?  The Dollar Store had some the other day in packs of six and they were erasers as well.  Very colorful and cute!
