219th General Assembly Moderator Candidates

The Layman posted brief bios of the 6 candidates for moderator of the PC(USA) 219th general assembly. You can see that link here. I find it amazing that out of the 6 candidates for moderator, only one (Leeth), took a clear stance against gay marriage and the ordination of gay pastors and elders. It makes you wonder what bible the other five candidates are using.

To make any sense, the pro-gay candidates (Belle, Bolbach, Kim, Lauterer & Nielson) are probably using one of the following rationales. Either they truly believe that homosexuality is not a sin or they feel that homosexuality deserves a unique exception to God's law. Name another sin that a person can continue to do without repentance, or any guilt and still be considered qualified for ordination.

To quote a well known Christian apologist...

Let's look at the Apostle Paul's brief list in 1 Corinthians and see if any of these would be given an exception.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (New American Standard Bible)

⁹Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, ¹⁰nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

I listed the sins below. Should a person who refuses to believe that their action is a sin and thus refuses to seek forgiveness and change their behavior be qualified for office? Let's analyze this question for each of the sinful characteristics Paul lists.

1. Fornicators - nope
2. Idolaters - nope
3. Adulterers - nope
4. Effeminate - good question - nope
5. Homosexuals - liberals - according to one's "interpretation" of scripture; everyone else - nope
6. Thieves - nope
7. Covetous - nope
8. Drunkards - nope
9. Revilers - nope
10. Swindlers - nope

Would it be consistent to grant an exception for homosexuals?

World's Largest Presbyterian Church

This is absolutely amazing. I can't imagine attending a church that averages 90,000 believers a Sunday. Anyone that knows me is aware that I'm not a big fan of mega churches. Just imagine this...someone attending this church meets 100 people for the first time every Sunday for a year and after a year they have met 5,200 people for the first time. This individual would still only have met less than 6% of the congregation!

I just met with my internship adviser and received a letter stating that I have completed all of the requirements for the M.S. in Educational Leadership program at Nova Southeastern University. Praise God!

Last day for grad school homework....so far

Well, today is today I finish up all of my grad school work for Nova Southeastern. If all goes well tomorrow, my masters will be complete and I'll be taking a break for 3 weeks. At that point I'll start my doctorate and begin the 3 year journey. I have learned so much at Nova Southeastern and I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the education field with their doctorate program.

2 Chippewas are drafted into the NFL!

Today is a great day for the Central Michigan University football team. Dan LeFevour and Antonio Brown were drafted into the NFL. The CMU football team has seen a steady rise to the top of college football over the last decade. This season alone, the Chippewas were MAC West, MAC Conference and GMAC Bowl champions. In addition to the championships, Chippewas defeated Michigan State early in the season. The strong season led to an AP Poll ranking of #23. I remember during my senior year (2004), the average attendance for a football game was around 15,000. During the 2009 season, the average attendance was well over 20,000. That's an improvement 33% in just five years! Fire Up Chips!

To remain the wealthiest country in the world, we need the best education system in the world. It is hard to compete against South Korea, Japan and China when they are working 40 more school days than American students. The following groups of people train year round: professional athletes, fire fighters, police officers, paramedics, and military personnel. Society has placed high expectations and demands for these essential and non-essential professions. Why are our standards different when it comes to educating our children?
