Born in Russia, trained as a journalist, Maria Shall attended Moscow School of Cinema and served as a field photojournalist for an underground magazine for human rights in late 80th Moscow. She came to America as a political refuge in 1989, on the cusp of great transformation in Europe and the end of the Cold War. Today she is writing a book about love, love as a cultural experience and a new spirit of the American Dream.
