Team NE Men will be competing next at the PVL Men’s Championship at the USA Volleyball Boys’ Junior National Championships (Reno-Sparks Convention Center, Reno, Nev.).  To learn more about the Coaches and Players please see “Team Bios“. To be eligible to tryout for Men’s or Women’s Team New England you must be a current USAV/ New England Region Member. Tryouts are open to all Post-collegiate athletes.

Team New England (TNE) competed with some of the nation’s best at the 2012 USAV Open Championship.  Twelve talented players from New England journeyed to Utah and made their region proud.  The New England Region Volleyball Association (NERVA) would like to acknowledge the following players for their extraordinary commitment:

While initially adjusting to the pace of play that national competition brings, a determined New England team inevitably turned in an impressive and winning performance in the semi final match of the Silver bracket.  In a hard fought battle with a resilient Evergreen team (Spokane, WA), TNE prevailed and advanced to the Silver bracket finals winning 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-22).  New England would eventually take second place in the Silver bracket losing to Western Empire (Penfield, NY) in the finals 0-3 (25-23, 25-19, 25-17).

The USA-PVL is a grass roots professional volleyball league made up of teams from among the forty regional volleyball associations across the United States. The PVL is sanctioned by USA Volleyball. There are rumors that the PVL will hold regional tournaments at various Junior National Qualifiers in 2013.  If so, an obvious choice for a potential competition would be the NEQ held in Baltimore, MD.  In addition, USAV has pledged support for a 2013 men’s PVL.  Watch this site and http://www.usapvl.com/ for future dates and further details about the development of the PVL.

On Thursday,  May 10th, Team New England held a well attended open house in the brand new MGA Sports Center.    Many NERVA Juniors players were on hand to see the pro team practice.  Team New England, along with their coach Roxann Link,  are looking forward to a great showing in Salt Lake City.  The team will compete at the first USA-PVL Championships held May 26th Through May 29th. against 11 other teams formed by regions from around the country.  The competition schedule can be found on Advanced Event Systems.  We will also post the schedule here when available.

TNE’s next practice will be at the MGA Sports Center on Sunday, May 20th, from 12:00pm – 2:00pm.  Spectators are welcome and encouraged to come by and meet the team.
