This weeks RFH Racer of the Week goes to team Audi and the new Audi’s R18 TDI, which won this years Le Mans. After two major accidents of the two other R18 TDI’s, the 3rd and sole remaining Audi driven by Benoit Treluyer, Andre Lotterer and Marcel Fassler broke through for a history-making victory at Circuit de la Sarthe in the fourth-closest finish in the endurance racing classic’s 79-year history.

Dan Wheldon wins Indy 500

The Indy 500 may not be the world’s greatest racing event anymore but it sure was a great race this year. Dan Wheldon an unemployed driver and past Indy 500 winner stuck it to them all by winning the race in the last corner.

Sebastian Vettel wins Monaco

Sebastian Vettel has won Monaco, (MONTE CARLO) the crown jewel of Formula One, and few can say they have done that. Defending F1 champion Vettel has won five of six races for Red Bull this season.

Alex Tagliani Captures Indy 500 Pole
Although Tony George lead open wheel racing and the Indy 500 down the road of extinction. The fact remains it was not the drivers fault and competing in the 500 sure is risking business and once represented the best of the very best. This week’s “RFH of the Week” proudly goes to Canadian Alex Tagliani for capturing the 2011 Indy 500 pole.

Truck Driver Kimi-Bobby

Runner Up this week is Kimi Raikkonen who jumped into a truck for a 9AM practice, first time driving with the competition. Then back for a afternoon practice and on to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Friday night at Charlotte. Although Kimi only placed 15th the fact is he beat more than half the field. I believe it was a fine start for the first time in a new car, news series and new discipline. The question is what will Kimi do next?

New champion Ryan Villopoto proved to be the class of the field

This weeks RFH Racer of the Week has to be Ryan Villopoto who Saturday night in Las Vegas clinched the 2011 Monster Energy Supercross Championship. Villopoto won what  many are calling the most competitive season in supercross history.

Turkish GP runs Red Bull RED

Runner up goes to Sebastian Vettel for winning the Turkish GP at Istanbul Park. Vettel has won 3 of 4 races run this year, which is outstanding. Teammate Mark Webber made it a Red Bull one, two. Lets not forget about Fernando Alonso who took his back maker red Ferrari to 3rd place! Is Ferrari back in the game?

Each week we highlight the FRH racer of the race weekend. This week our RFH racer is NASCAR’s Kyle Busch who started in 20th and for the third straight year won the spring Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway Saturday night.

Kyle continues to be the best of the best and hard to beat anytime he jumps into any type of race car.

Hats off to Graham Rahal who finished second on the slippery rain-soaked course in the Itaipava São Paulo Indy 300 presented by Nestle in SÃO PAULO, Brazil.  Hopefully we well see Graham as a RFH Racer of the Weeks very soon.

Team Boner RFH Racing on the ground reporter at this years LBGP told us that the IRL never has captured the spirit of the good old CART days at Long Beach. Having been to many CART races on the streets of Long Beach but never attending an IRL event I can’t say myself. We all know how the IRL wiped open wheel racing off the map in the USA but things are changing. Gone is TG and with that a new look, racecar and engine package set to premier in 2012. It is hard to say if the new branded “Indy Car” will ever attract the sellout crowds CART once enjoyed but most are hoping it will. If you attended this years LBGP then you witnessed what most well say is the end of a very bad dream. Make sure you attended next years LBGP as you can then witness the beginning of what we all hope is the rebirth of open wheel racing in the great USA. Staff Writer EM
