How to Submit Your Blogger Sitemap to Google

Sitemaps are very important for SEO because it gives the search engines the proper path to find, crawl and index your blog pages. In an earlier post I explained how to submit sitemap to bing. The procedure for giving your sitemap to google is not too different from that of Bing.
For google all you need do is to make a one-time submission based on the number of posts you have. Just like I said in the previous post, sitemaps are one of the factors for getting your blog high up in the SERPs.

In order to submit your blog sitemap to Google you need to get a Google Webmasters account first. This would be easy for you if you already have a Gmail account so I suggest you get one if you don't have. Now go to www.google.com/webmasters and you will be prompted to sign in to Webmaster tools.
Click on Sign In to Webmaster Tools.

After signing in you will be shown your dashboard where you can add your sites. Click on ADD A SITE on the right hand side of the screen and enter your blog URL. Click on Continue and you will be prompted to verify the site ownership.

On the same page click on the Alternate methods tab. Select the "Add a meta tag to your site's home page" option.
You will now have a unique meta tag code generated for you to verify your site.
Now log in to your Blogger account. Go to Design >> Edit HTML
Use your browser's find tool to search for <head> (Press Ctrl +F to do this)
Go to your Google webmasters browser tab and copy the verification code, then paste it after the head tag
Now save your template and go back to Google webmasters to click on the Verify button
You should now receive a confirmation that your site has been added

Steps to Add Your Sitemap to Google
After you have confirmed your site ownership head over to your Webmasters dashboard and click on your newly added blog link (not Manage site)
It will take you to the site dashboard
On the left hand side of the screen (Dashboard panel) click on Site configuration and select Sitemaps

Now click on ADD/TEST SITEMAP button
Enter the code below in the text area with your blog URL beside it
After that click Submit Sitemap. You may also want to use the Test Sitemap option before you finally submit it to see if it works

atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

The code above is for posts between 1 and 500

If your post count is more than 500 then use the two codes below one at a time

atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500

To install the layer styles, open Photoshop

In my recent post on how to submit your blogger sitemap to bing/yahoo, I outlined some basic SEO strategies that you should do to improve your Search Engine Rank Position (SERP) and traffic. Below are the points again

Getting Quality backlinks
Writing quality content
Using the right keywords
Submitting your Sitemap to Google, Bing/Yahoo
Creating Videos and linking them to your blog
Submitting your site to Directories

There are several other ways by which you can rank your site. The methods are endless but I would just focus on the above points for now. It is very crucial to do SEO on your blog at least up to an extent before you start receiving traffic. It is also best to know how exactly to go about it. The methods by which you can rank your blog are constantly changing by the day as Google makes constant changes to its search algorithm in order to reduce spam and avoid junk sites showing up in search results.

Several years back, you could rank your website/blog well by giving it proper Meta tags. You could even actually spam google by stuffing your description and title tags with numerous keywords. SEO was not a pain in the neck then. However, as Google makes changes to its system, we also need to get ourselves updated and act accordingly.

The steps outlined above will work for you but you still need a lot of work to get that stream of traffic you desire. By doing SEO on your blog you want to try to improve your pagerank and gain backlinks as well. A higer Pagerank will improve your visibility on Google. Plenty quality backlinks will improve your SERP and pagerank and it will also give you free traffic depending on the traffic on the particular page on which your link is.

Just in case you're wondering what a backlink is, backlink is a link from your blog (be it the home page or an internal link e.g www.techbase.info/label/SEO) on another site.

Also pagerank is the score ranging from 0 - 10 that google awards your site based on the number/quality of backlinks, content you have. A new domain would usually have a pagerank of N/A and as it gets backlinks its pagerank moves to zero and then it continues to increase.

Before you SEO your site
I know you are very eager to SEO your site and get it high up in the SERPs but there's just a few things you need to do before embarking on your SEO project. What I'm talking about is simply the on-site SEO which involves your Meta tags optimization. You need to give your blog a good Title, Keywords and description. To do this first think about the keywords that apply to your niche and from this you should coin out your title, keywords and description tags.

How to Change Blog Title and Description in blogger
Log in to your blogger account
Go to the settings and on the basic tab you can change your title

How to Change the Keyword Tag
In order to do this you would need to get into the HTML of your blog template
Go to the Design tab
Click on Edit HTML
Use the find tool to search for <head>
After you have found the tag, scroll to where you have this <title
You can now place your keyword tag anywhere after the head tag or the title tag but before this </head>

<META CONTENT='tech updates, keyword 1, keyword 2' NAME='keywords'/>

Having done all that we can now talk about the SEO procedures. I would like to talk about the second option first because as you might have been seeing it all over the internet; CONTENT IS KING! Moreover, Google's latest algorithm mainly supports content so, we need to take that seriously first

Writing Quality Content
By writing quality content I mean that you should write your blog content from your own head. Do not copy and paste content from another site. I am not saying you cannot learn from other blogs and then write about what you've learnt. I am only saying that your site will actually lose trust and rank from Google if you like to do copy and paste.
You also need to be mindful of your word count. Make sure most of your content has good word count. Dont's be posting 200 word articles all the time. Google bots like to crawl sites that have good content.

Another important point about content is that having many blog posts actually ranks you higher. Google likes to know that you take your blog seriously and you actually have the time to update your content regularly. You should update your blog at least 2 times in a week. This is small though, but even if you are very busy it is achievable. For best results, try to update your blog like 5 times in a day. This can be a tedious job but once you have a lock on how to easily develop post ideas and quickly come up with good articles you would be able to achieve this easily. Even if you cannot do 5 times a day you should be able to do once a day which is still good.

Using The Right Keywords
Keywords are short phrases that relate to your niche. They are important in finding your blog through search engines. There are several ways in which keywords can be of effect to your site. Keywords are reflected in your meta tags, content, and backlinks.

How To Make a Keyword reflect in your Content
Say you have a blog on the Tech niche and you mainly blog about Tech Reviews, Blogger Tips and so on, you should be using keywords like "blogger tips" "technology reviews" "freebies and downloads" (and so on) in your blog posts. You might also need to make a little keyword research before you start implementing the keywords. Make a google search on "google keyword tool" to make use of Google's keyword research tool. Beware not to stuff your content with too much keyword though as this is considered as spamming by Big G (Google).

How to Make Your Keywords reflect in your backlinks
You can rank for specific keywords by placing backlinks on other sites with your anchor text as your target keyword. Say you want to rank and get traffic for the "blogger tips" you would create your backlink like this:
<a href="http://www.techbase.info">blogger tips</a>
From the above code, blogger tips is the anchor text and www.techbase.info is your url. You can start ranking for that keyword as you increamentally create backlinks with it and if you do it enough you would have your URL on first page of google whenever anyone searches for the word "blogger tips"

Submitting Your Blog Sitemap to Google and Bing
In an earlier post I explained how to add your sitemap to Yahoo/Bing. I am going to make a post very soon on how to submit your sitemap to Google. The steps are straight forward too. You will learn from those two posts how to do this and why it is important. Sitemaps give search engines the right path to crawl and index your pages. Please read this post to learn how to submit your sitemap to Yahoo/Bing and subscribe to receive the post on how to submit your sitemap to Google. I will however update this post and link it to the Google sitemap post.

Creating Videos and linking them to your blog
This is not much of an SEO procedure like the rest but it can get you some traffic
YouTube is the most popular video sharing site with millions of views everyday. You can get a significant amount of traffic by posting videos on YouTube. You can make your viewers visit your site if you watermark your videos with your blog URL.
You can also place a link back to your blog in the description area of the video. You can easily make videos either by capturing your computer screen, recording through your computer web cam or using a digital video camera. Just make a video relating to your niche, post it on YouTube and you will receive some traffic from it. You should also use the right keywords for the video tags. An easy way to get ideas of what to record is to record something about your blog posts. You could explain how to download a software from a website. You could also create a post on that and embed your YouTube video in your blog post.

Social Bookmarking Sites
You can get quality backlinks from social bookmarking sites bu submitting your posts. Ensure to use the proper title and keywords. One social bookmarking. Below is a list of some of the best social bookmarking sites

Forums
There are many forums with several niches on the internet. Most of these forums have the option to include your site URL in your profile details. You can include a link to your blog in your forum posts. However, you should take note of forum rules as you might get a ban from some of these forums if you post a link without meeting a minimum requirement to do this.

Blogs
Most blogs have a comment form in which you can comment and some of these comment boxes accept links. Some comments have DoFollow properties while some don't. So, make sure you leave a backlink to your blog the next time you comment but don't over-do it and don't put your inks in blogs that are not relevant to yours. This might be counted as spamming.

Directories
Directories are a good way to rank your site and also gain instant traffic. However, you should be mindful of the kind of directory you put your links as many of them have already been blacklisted. However, I recomment Dmoz.org and Yahoo Directory.

Article Sites
This is one way to get a constant flow of traffic to your blog because many of these article sites have a very high volume of traffic and your articles would actually get indexed on them fast. I recommend thses article sites

Text Link Ads
You can gain high quality backlinks from several niche sites when you purchase text link ads. You can purchase text link ads from Google Adwords or Infolinks

Guest Post
You can get a good link juice from other people's blogs by writing a guest post for them and in turn get a back link to your blog. You can contact any blog owner in your niche and ask if the owner would like a guest post in return of a backlink favour. If the blow owner agrees, then write up a very good ariticle and submit it to him.

Link Exchange
You can get a link exchange from a blog or website. This is when there is an agreement to put the other blogger's link on your blog vice-versa.

Another good SEO practice that many bloggers are not aware of is tweaking the image alt tags on their blogs. Search engines do read image alt tags which is an alternate description of your web images if it does not load up. If it doesn't load, the alt title will be displayed in place of the image.

So you can actually give your images specific keywords and it will surely improve your serps.
To do this inside blogger, upload your images normally then switch to the html view of your post editor and search for the image URL you uploaded. You can insert your alt tag immediately after the image extension which is in this format

How to Add Your Blog Site Map To Bing/Yahoo

Every blog or website needs good and quality SEO in order to become visible in the search engines and ultimately gain a good amount of traffic.

There are several Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques that can be employed in getting your blog/website good traffic from the search engines and a very imporatant one of the procedures is submitting a site map to them.

Before I continue on this topic, let me briefly outline the various ways by which you can perfom good SEO for your site.

The first and most important one is Getting quality backlinks to your blog/website (especially dofollow links)
The next most important one is creating quality content on your blog/website (almost as good as the first point)
Using the right keywords for your blog/website (by doing keyword research)
Submitting your site map to Google, Bing/Yahoo
Creating videos and linking them to your blog/website through YouTube
Submitting your site to Directories

that you have those few points let's now continue with the topic.
What is a Site Map?
According Wikipedia; A sitemap is the list of pages of a website accessible to crawlers or users. It can be either a document in any form used as a planning tool for web design or a web page that lists the pages on a web site, typically organized in hierarchical fashion. It helps search engine bots find pages on sites.

Now that you know what a sitemap is I would also like to let you know that the search engines must have your sitemap in order for your web pages to be properly crawled. Crawling refers to the process by which a search engine scans the content of your website, keeping the information in its database.

In this post I will be focussing on how to generate and submit your blogger sitemap to Bing/Yahoo.
Sitemap submission to yahoo used to be done via Yahoo Site Explorer. However, Yahoo Site Explorer and Microsoft Bing Webmaster Tools was merged together last year on November 2011. As a result of this webmasters are required to submit sitemaps or perform other tasks using Bing webmaster Tools.

Site Explorer was launched way back in the year 2005 by Tim Mayer to keep a close watch on your site performance on the Yahoo search engine. Now, due to the merging together of Bing and Yahoo you do not need to do your job two ways again with Yahoo and Bing because submitting your sitemap to Bing will have effect on both Yahoo and Bing.

How to Add Your Blog Url to Bing
In order to do this you should first create an account on Bing Webmaster Tools. Before you do this get a Hotmail email account first.
Now follow the simple steps below to create a Bing Webmasters account

Log in to Bing Webmaster Tools using your hotmail account

Once you are logged in and you can see your dashboard click on Add Site

Add your blog URL e.g http://www.techbase.info
Next, click Submit and you will be prompted to verify your blog ownership.

There are three options to do this but I would like you to select the easiest which is the one that asks you to copy and paste some code into the section of your site.

Copy the code and log in to your blogger account.
Then go to the design tab and then click on Edit HTML.
Now scroll your HTML to where you have the <head> tag (opening head tag). place the
Save your template and you are through with that

Now go back to Bing Webmaster Tools and click on the Verify button

You should now wait for a couple of days (about 3 days) for your blog stats and data to start showing up.
After all these you will then be able to track traffic to your blog. You can add as many sites as you like provided you can verify them.

How to Add Your Sitemap to Bing
It has been established earlier that Bing and Yahoo have been merged so you should now know that whatever you do on Bing Webmaster Tool is also having effect on Yahoo. You also now know that sitemaps help search engines in crawling and consequently indexing your site. You should also now know that submitting your sitemap to the search engine can also be said to be pinging them. Alright now, let's get how to ping Bing. I like that rhyme: PingBing : )

Before we do that let me let you know that the process of pinging your blogger blog is different from how you would do it on a self hosted blog/site. The procedure for doing it for a hosted site involves generating your sitemap in an XML type file which you can actually include a link to on any of your web pages and it will be used by the search engines once the page on which the sitemap is has been indexed. Sitemaps can be generated using sitemap generating software. You can also make use of the free online sitemap generators. You can also manually submit it to Google and Bing.

To add your sitemap to Bing (Ping Bing ; ) )
Note that you must have at least 15 posts to do this.
Use this option if the number of your posts is between 1 and 500

Copy the link below
Paste it in your browser address bar
Replace www.techbase.info with your blog URL and enter

Use the above code and this one if your posts are between 501 and 1000

Use this plus the two above if your posts are between 1000 and 1500

To check if the ping is effective, type the URL of your latest post in Bing/Yahoo search bar and see if your blog appears.
If it does not appear check back in at most 5 days after the date of submission. If you don't see it still, repeat the procedures all over again and it should work.

How to Install Blogger Templates

Blogger itself gives you the option to choose from a wealth of available templates but the available blogger templates are not the best. There are numerous templates available for you to download and use on your blogger blog. Installing your template in blogger is very easy. Just follow the simple steps below.

To install a blogger template, log in to blogger and go to the Design tab
Next click on the Edit HTML tab and first of all download your current template. You should so that you can easily revert back to your previous template just in case you run into problems while installing your new template.

After you have downloaded your current template to your hard drive, extract the contents of your zipped template file and look for the blogger template file which has an .XML extension.

How to Create Prov File Using Java Proxy Generator Software

I created a tutorial earlier on How to create prov file for Nokia S40(Java) phones online. This post is for those who do not want to go online or just if you want to do it at your own convenience and even add some customizations. Using this Java proxy Generator software, you can easily create prov files. With this software you can set the homepage and even configure the MMS application.

The software is easy to use. Below is a demonstration.

To create a default MTN prov file

Start the prov generator software
Enter the desired name for the config file(The name it will display in connection settings)
Enter the IP address and port number

For the Internet APPLICATION (W-2) part you should enter the homepage you want it to automatically visit when you open your phone main browser(not Opera Mini)

Set theAccess point
Set the username and password like so:

Next, click on Generate PROV

The prov file will be created in the same folder that the software is placed

The next thing to do is send it to your Java/S40 Nokia phone via Bluetooth or copy it to a Symbian OS phone or any other phone that can save and still send it as a prov file through a file explorer software such as FExplorer, Y-Browser, etc.

How to Manually Hunt Down and Disable Virus/malware from Your USB Flash Drive

Nobody likes it when you insert your USB flash drive into a computer system and it catches a virus. Many people often panic when their USB flash drive catches a virus or they are always so careful how they insert their flash drives in other people's computer systems.
I'm never scared of putting my flash drive in any PC because I know how to see if my flash drive has caught a virus and I also know how to easily remove the virus.
There are different kinds of viruses. I don't know much about them but I know of the following types:

Virus programs that attempt to run by themselves
Virus programs that hide your files and replace them with a folder-looking icon
Virus programs that immediately infect files on the flash and also attempt to infect system files

The most important way to catch a virus on your flash drive is vigilance. When you use your flash on an infected system(whether you know or not) do not be quick to click on files in your flash.

Another good way to catch most viruses is that they install a small autorun.inf file on your flash. This file tells windows that when you double-click on your flash drive icon from My Computer, the program it is pointing to should automatically start. However, many antivirus programs now automatically delete this autorun.inf file as soon as it is detected.

Another way to catch viruses is when you see new folders in your flash drive such as My Pictures, My Music and so on. If you are a Windows 7/Vista user and you are observant, you would notice that these icons are in the Windows XP format.

A safety precaution to avoid activating a virus program on your flash is to not double-click on your flash drive icon. Rather, right-click and select Explore / Open

Another very good safety precaution that can really save you the hassle of doing a System Restore or Reinstalling your Operating System due to virus attack is by disabling - Hide Extension of Known File Types options in Windows Explorer. This can save you some trouble because with this option disabled you can quickly see if a malware is disguised as a folder so that you can just delete it because it will have a .exe, .bat or .com extension if it's a virus. How to do this:

Click on Tools in Windows Explorer(Windows Vista/7 Users: press alt to reveal Menu Bar)
Click Folder Options then navigate to View tab
Under the View tab look for the Hide Extension of Known File Types options and disable it

How Do I Manually Remove a Virus From My Flash?

To remove a virus from your flash is very easy. Just follow the simple steps below. I always use this system whenever my antivirus program gives me a notification that it has deleted an autorun.inf file on my flash drive.

Click on Tools in Windows Explorer
Click Folder Options >> View
Enable Show Hidden Files, Folders and Drives(This option makes hidden files on your system to be revealed)

Next, turn off Hide protected Operating System Files

Click Ok

This reveals all the hidden files including virus files programmed to seem as a system file to windows. Take a look at the snap shot below to get an idea.

The faint looking files/folders are the hidden/system files.

One thing that might surprise you after doing all these is that you might now see that your actual folder or file has been automatically hidden and a virus has been renamed as your file or folder.

The real extension or format of your file will let you know if it has been replaced with a virus file. Say you just got a picture file from a friend(with an infected PC) and you followed the steps above, in this case, you would see your picture file as IMAGE.exe instead of IMAGE.jpg or IMAGE.png etc

So, this is what I do: when I notice that my flash drive might have been infected, I do the procedure above and then I simply delete all the unwanted files and then remove the Hidden attribute of my original file(s) to make it visible again.

How to modify a file's attributes

Right-click on the file and select properties
From the General tab, untick hidden

In the event that you mistakenly activated a virus you should immediately do a system restore to revert to an earlier time.

Ping Feedburner to Update Your RSS Feed Immediately

Most bloggers know about blog pinging and why it's important to do that regularly.
Why you should ping your blog. You should because pinging your blog notifies Blog Search Engines, Search Engines and blog directories that your blog has been updated. What you are doing is inviting the search engines to crawl and index your most recent update.

If you are a blogger then you most likely use Feedburner for managing your blog's RSS and email subscriptions. I was working on the mobile version of my blog I created using Mobstac and I noticed that my latest post was not appearing. I really wanted to see it appear so I had to ping Feedburner and it appeared immediately.

Feedburner automatically updates your blog's feed every 30 minutes but you might need to manually update it yourself.

To ping Feedburner, go to www.feedburner.com/fb/a/ping. Enter your blog address and hit Enter.
This makes your blog feed to be immediately updated

How to use Your Phone to Connect to the Internet Via Bluetooth Without using Nokia PC Suite

It is no longer news that you can use your phone to connect to the internet either through Bluetooth or your phone's data cable.

For years now, I have always used my phone to connect to the internet and I love using it because for me it is very convenient. All I get to do is power on the Bluetooth on both devices and with a couple clicks I'm connected.

I believe that many Nokia users who also use their mobile phones to connect to the internet make use of PC Suite and I'm sure that some might believe that you cannot be successful doing that if you don't have the PC Suite software. It's easy to do if you follow the simple steps below.

This tutorial is for Windows 7 users.

Steps to Connect to the Internet Via Bluetooth Without using Nokia PC Suite

Power on your phone's Bluetooth
Right-click on the Bluetooth icon from the Task bar

Select your phone from the Add device dialog box
Windows will initiate a paring; Enter the pairing code
Wait a moment for Windows to install the phone's Bluetooth features such as Dial up Networking, FTP, etc
After your device has been successfully installed, right-click on your Bluetooth icon and select Show Bluetooth Devices
Now right-click on your phone from the Bluetooth device list and select create dial-up connection

Now select the appropriate option. It should be something like Standard Modem over Bluetooth Link#2

Now Enter your provider's connection information. At this stage, all you need to know is the user name and password. The Dial up number is always *99#

MTN details: Dial up Number: *99# | Username/Password: web
Give it any name you want and click Connect
You should now see this:

If your configuration is ok you should then get this:

If you see the image above, your configuration is correct and you can now click Close or click Browse the Internet now to open up your default browser
If you could not get to this stage, you probably did not select the correct option from the 3rd image above. So go back and retry till you get it.

Your computer is now connected and the new configuration has now been automatically profiled by Windows.

You may now connect and disconnect anytime by clicking the network icon on your Windows task bar and connecting using the desired connection profile.

How to Delete the Connection Profile

Right-click on the network icon and click Open Network and Sharing Center
Click Internet Options

Click Connection Settings, select the profile you don't want anymore and click Remove to delete it

How To Check The Backlinks Pointing To Your Blog

As a blogger, you need backlinks in order for your blog to be seen and recognized by the big G(Google).

You can build backlinks by commenting on blogs, Forums profile or buying text links.

The way I've been building my backlinks is that I make sure that whenever I search for any info and I get a relevant information on what I was looking for on blogs or forums, I make sure that I leave a comment.

Now there is a difference between commenting and spamming. I do not post irrelevant comments on websites or blogs. Many blog comment boxes now have the option for you to enter your website URL. So, what I do is enter my name and URL and then I make a relevant and reasonable comment.

I have seen spammy comments on several blogs and it's not too cool. So, build backlinks for yourself and as you do that you will see an increase in traffic to your blog and as time goes by you will begin to get better SERP(Search Engine Rank Position) from the big G.

How To Check Your Backlinks
There are several ways you can check your backlinks. If you make a search on that you will find many websites and services for that. Many of them are paid and some of them are not. Many of them are not useful too because they do not give you results.

I use 2 services to chech my backlinks and they are Alexa and Yahoo Site Explorer

You would do your blog a lot of good by adding your blog to Alexa if you have not done so.

Reasons Why I Use Alexa or Yahoo Site Explorer
Alexa shows you the very relevant backlinks pointing to your site while Yahoo Site Explorer shows you all your backlinks.
Note that it is better to have quality backlinks (High Pagerank) than to have plenty non-quality backlinks
You get quality backlinks from websites with High Pagerank.

Aero Shake: How It Works and How to Disable It

The Aero Shake is a Windows 7 feature that I did not even know of in a long time. To know about what Aero Shake is, grab a window in your Windows 7 and shake it, all other windows will be minimized. That's a cool feature right?
It's very useful while you are multitasking. You have a couple of windows open and it gets to a point where you need to have only one window active; you can put the Windows Aero Shake feature to use instead of minimizing all other windows, then bringing up the one you want.

How to Disable Aero Shake
This is a registry hack and I do not recommend it to you if you don't even know what the windows registry is.
But, if you are a computer geek, let's go!

Open Regedit (Hold Down Windows key + R) type regedit and hit enter in the Run dialog box
Navigate to this key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
Right Click on windows, go to Key and create a new DWORD(32-Bit) Value
Name it as NoWindowMinimizingShortcuts

That's all. You need to log off and then log on again to see the changes.

Access Blogger Through Proxomitron

In order to access Blogger through Proxomitron, First of all use you Privoxy to log into blogger

In order for this to be easy for you, configure the control port of Proxomitron to be 8118.
How to Do This:

Open your proxomitron
Click Config >> HTTP
Click Proxomitron's Control Port
Set it to 8118

By doing this, you don't have to change your browser or System's port number everytime. You can just switch between the two software whenever you like.
Note that you can run them simultaneously but you won't be able to browse. So only 1 must be on!

After you have successfully logged in, exit Privoxy and start Proxomitron
You can now go to your blogger account and all functions will be working very well

This Proxomitron I'm giving away is already configured. In order to get it working

Unzip the Files to any location on your PC
Click File >> Load Config File >> Select DEFAULT.cfg
That's the one-time config you need to do. Afterwards, you won't need to configure it again

Babcock University Connects to Glo 1 - Africa's Major Internet Bandwidth Provider

Glo 1 is an international submarine cable. It's not just the regular Optic Fibre cabling but this is a high end version with tremendous bandwidth capabilities. It has 16 landing stations in 16 African countries. It is now Africa's major bandwidth provider.

Head of Glo 1 enterprise Solutions, Folu Aderibigbe, said at the unveiling of the business relationship in Lagos on the 25th of October that the connectivity would provide Babcock University a very fast and efficient internet service.

Glo 1 signed a multi-million Naira deal with the university for them to be supplied with 40MB of internet link. That is approximately 100KB split into 400 places. That's really big and it's the first of it's kind in Nigeria.
This development is in preparation for the January 2012 takeoff of Babcock University's Benjamin S. Carson School of Medicine and the Babcock Business School. These two schools operate smart classrooms, simulation labs and high-tech instructional facilities that require high speed internet connection. Aderibigbe explained that:

"With the activation of the contract, the university's staff and students will be able to leverage the power of the Glo 1 cable to conduct their online research and realtime laboratory and classroom collaborative teaching from renown scholars around the world on virtually all subject areas. Display Google Adsense Ads on Your Blogger Blog With Mobstac

Create an In-line link unit if you did not have one before
From your Mobstac dashboard, click on Advertising tab

If you don't know how to get your publisher ID, get your inline text code from your Adsense account. You will find it after the text google_ad_client
So copy the code (It's like pub-12345678908xxxx)

The Flavours of Opera browser
The Opera browsers are actually in three different flavours

Opera (for computer)
Opera Mobile
Opera Mini

I will not be talking about Opera for PC in this post.

Opera Mobile
The Opera mobile is similar to Opera Mini, only that it is more advanced and it is not available for all phones.
It has better rendering features on the display level. It does not load as fast as Opera Mini because it does not make use of the server-side compression technology mentioned above. However, it loads pages better, supports flash and it can also dynamically load web pages. This means that your web page does not appear static. You can still see some interactive activity going on. Plus you do not have to reload for some features to function; such as waiting to download from a file sharing website. Opera Mobile is available for the following platforms:

Symbian S60
Windows 7
MeeGo
MeeGo We Tab
Windows Mobile

How To Enjoy Your Opera Mini

One feature I love about Opera Mini is the Opera Link feature. The latest version now comes with pinch to zoom.

The Opera link allows you to share your browsing data between all your computers and devices that run the Opera browser. It can synchronize your browser information such as bookmarks, Speed Dial, passwords and notes so they are always available wherever you go.

How to enable Opera Link on mobile

In Opera on your phone, to to Menu >> Settings >. Opera Link

For Opera 4, select Synchronize Opera on the start page

Log in with your Opera account username and password if you have or quickly create an account

That's all!

Your data will now always be synchronized.

You can enable this feature even if you are using more than one version of Opera, on several phones, too.

The Pinch to Zoom Feature

On touchscreen phones you can use 2 fingers to adjust the size of the page you are viewing easily.

Pinch your fingers together to shrink a page.

Spread your fingers to expand text for easier reading.
