WALKMAN® E450 video MP3 player
Young music lovers with an eye for style can enjoy rich, quality sound by Sony that really stands out from the crowd. Perfect as a first music player, WALKMAN® E450 is available in a choice of five fun, funky colours.

A fresh new interface makes WALKMAN® even easier and more fun to use. The redesigned playback screen lets you scroll through a big, bold view of cover artwork on the crisp, clear QVGA screen. Background wallpapers can be customised from a choice of designs, or use your own photos. New Scene Search makes it easy to pinpoint the right moment in longer videos by scrolling through a series of thumbnail images.

Looking to match your listening to your mood? Unique to Sony, SensMe™ technology automatically analyses and categorises your music library, creating a series of themed channels. Just pick your channel to suit the moment, from mellow to upbeat.

Brand new to WALKMAN®, Lyrics Sync supports the popular .lrc file format, displaying the words of your favourite songs on screen. There's also a new Karaoke Mode that lets you have fun singing along to your favourite songs. WALKMAN® automatically reduces the original performer's vocal level, so your own voice is heard clearly over the backing track. If you're struggling to hit those high or low notes, playback key can also be adjusted up or down to match anyone's vocal reach without changing playback speed.

Busy students will appreciate the brand-new Language Learning function that makes it easy to master a tricky phrase. WALKMAN® can 'loop' a chosen passage for listening at reduced playback speed without changing pitch or losing clarity.

Unique to Sony, a handy Bookmark function lets you create, add to or edit up to five of your own personal playlists. Just pick a playlist to suit your mood or whatever you're doing.

Like every WALKMAN®, the new E450 series stands out with full, rich sound to get the very best out of your music collection. Clear Bass and Clear Stereo are joined by new DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine). Developed by Sony, DSEE restores high frequencies that are lost when music files are compressed to recreate more natural, CD-quality sound.

New Virtual Phones Technology adds an extra dimension to enjoying your favourite tracks on headphones. Authentic acoustic modelling by Sony places you inside a choice of five soundspaces, from an intimate club to the biggest arena. As an extra listening refinement, Dynamic Normaliser balances the volume of each song as you listen, reducing jumps in volume as you listen in shuffle mode.

Extra-long battery life now lets you listen for even longer, offering up to 50 hours of music playback time (10 hours video playback) from a single charge1.

Supplied Content Transfer software makes it easy to drag and drop music files and playlists directly to WALKMAN® from your PC or iTunes library (not including DRM files).

WALKMAN® now works better than ever with your PC if you're running Windows® 7. Connect the WALKMAN® E450 to your PC's USB port and a new 'Device Stage' window launches automatically. This easy-to-use media management function lets you browse files stored on WALKMAN® in Windows Explorer and export media files directly to WALKMAN® from your PC. Windows® 7 even takes care of converting DivX® and AVCHD video files stored on your hard drive to playable format for viewing on WALKMAN®.

Also available (in black only), the WALKMAN® E450K adds a beautifully designed matched cradle stereo speaker, allowing you to enjoy crisp, clear WALKMAN® sound without headphones. Digital Linear Phase Speaker technology ensures a clear, natural soundfield, while Virtual Bass boosts low-end frequencies for a room-filling low end. As an alternative to mains power, the speaker can also be powered directly from the player's battery, letting you take great WALKMAN® sound with you anywhere.

Here Comes Nintendo 3DS!

2010-06-16T12:52:00.000+05:30

As the name itself, yeah its the first hand-held to be supporting 3D.

Nintendo 3DS uses a parallax LCD, which uses structural variations in the screen itself to split the image into a separate view for each eye, creating the 3-D illusion. Its a 3.5 inch display that supports the 3D effect.

Nintendo has also added a depth slider to the side of the machine. This simple control makes it easy to "flatten" the 3-D effect until you're left with a classic 2-D view at the lowest setting. Slide the 3-D depth to zero and you have a screen that looks more or less like you average DS screen in terms of brightness, color and clarity.

The new machine is about the same size as the standard DS, and most of the key buttons are in the same place. But now there is a start, select and home button on the machine's face, and a quarter-sized flat analog stick in the upper left-hand corner. The stick's range of motion feels a bit limited, but it seemed responsive enough. Two parallax-positioned cameras on the back also allow you to take your own 3-D pictures.

7th June 2010

2010-06-09T15:34:00.000+05:30

what was the importance of 7th june 2010???

Apple fanboys will have a quick reply : WWDC 2010

World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) is the event where Apple releases or announce their major products. The last WWDC (2009) was the event when Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone 3GS to the world, which upgraded the iPhone to a real phone in many aspects.

This year it was the unveiling of the new device or a major upgrade to the existing device the iPhone 4.
What all things happened in WWDC 2010??

As usual for last few years the WWDC was kicked off by the key note from the ceo of apple ,Steve Jobs.He started of with Apple iPad and he claims that after the worldwide release of the device,it has sold 2 million copies which is equivalent to selling one iPad every 3 seconds, and the evergrowing application base for the device that is available now in 10 countries and the number of countries will expand to 19 by july.

and the guy from Zynga comes up with a good news.Farmville will be available for iPhone by the end of june....thats an awesome news.

then Steve gives some comparison between the iPhone and the android in the US.

and here it comes....iPhone 4

24% thinner than iPhone 3GS ie 9.3mm thin

Introduction of retina display: ie 326 dots per inch in the screen, while a human eye can accept only 300 dots per inch

3.5 inch display

960 by 640 pixels thas 4 times more than the precious iPhone

800:1 contrast ratio now thats something thats gonna make a huge difference in the images.

introduction of IPS technology thats available in few LCDs in the market.

Quad band HSDPA 7.2 mbps compatible

Wi-fi

A4 processor

introduction of 3-axis gyro combining it with the accelerometer it provides the six axis control, required for some games.

Camera has been extensively upgraded, from 3 to 5 megapixels

5x digital zoom.

LED flash and above all,720p HD recording @ 30fps.

Tap to focus.

One-click sharing.

Built -in video editing.

then Steve goes playing with the new iPhone to show us the multitasking capability and the integration of bing search to the existing google and yahoo search.

After the introduction of the iBook in iPad due to the success it has been introduced in iPhone 4 too.

and Steve Tells us about the marketing strategies through the iAds.

and so far all these are enough for one to upgrade to iPhone 4G.but steve continues and introduces Facetime.

FaceTime is video calling through iPhone but as the carriers doesnt support it,now it has been implemented through wi-fi.but its only from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4.it can be switched between front camera and the back camera, both in landscape and potrait mode.

and so iPhone has been introduced and will be available for public from june 24th.and it comes with iOS 4.

all the previous version of iPod touch(except first generation) and iPhone can be upgraded to the new OS.

PS. a new version of safari was also released.

Six-Core Intel Xeon 7400 Shipping September 15

2008-09-07T19:55:00.001+05:30

When the going gets tough in the enterprise server sector you need big processing power. Larger and more complex database systems, scientific computation and web servers demand more and more power every other day.

More power usually ends up meaning more physical hardware taking up more space. This is something that Intel is working hard towards minimizing – increase the processing power and reducing the footprint.

The last of the Penryn class enterprise processors is on the way. Boasting a huge 16MB L3 cache. This is Intel’s first step beyond four cores. The new Xeon 7400 (Dunnington) will have six cores and be the first using the new monolithic design - multiple cores on a single die. The Xeon 7400 will be socket compatible with Xeon 7300 boards which will allow for simple upgrades with little downtime.

The Xeon 7300 series were high-wattage as well, some pushing 130 watts. The new 7400 series is targeting a much lower wattage, however no solid data has been available – upon its actual release we should start to see what kind of numbers are out there in real world application.

Previous 7300 series Xeon processors weighed in at four cores and a hefty 8 MB cache and a very large price tag that ranges between $2,200 to $2,600. As no solid pricing information has been released regarding the new 7400 series, one could expect the 7400 come in little more than current 7300 pricing while 7300 series take a price slash. It would be logical to expect pricing around $2,600 to $2,800.

Enterprise processor markets have never had consistent pricing like the consumer processor market, so finding the right deal can be a lot of work for smaller businesses that wish to save a few bucks. Larger entities tend to worry more about what it can do for them as opposed to the sticker price.

Since this will be the last of this server era from Intel, it may not see much daylight as large entities are already planning their road map towards Nehalem, especially due to the architecture’s scalability. On a side note - if rumors continue to hold true, we should be seeing the Core i7 (Nehalem) line rolling out by the end of this year.

gigabyte's 6 teraflops

2008-08-27T06:36:00.000+05:30

San Jose (CA) - Believe it or not, NVISION 08 is not just about Nvidia. Earlier today we met with Gigabyte to see what we can expect from the Taiwanese manufacturer - and got a glimpse at an upcoming motherboard for Intel’s Core i7 processors with Nehalem core. The board, called Extreme Edition, sets several highlights, including the ability to transform your PC in a true deskside supercomputer that offers the processing horsepower of thousands of processors ten years ago.

The prototype board on display was based on Intel’s X58 chipset and supports up to six graphics cards, four PCIe Gen2 x16 slots and two wide-open Gen 2 x4 slots. Due to space constraints there is only Crossfire and no SLI support. So, what can you do with six graphics cards - for example six Radeon 4850 or six Nvidia 9800 GT models?

You could run up to 12 monitors, which should be a dream for any flight simulator enthusiast. While you can run up to four cards in Crossfire (graphics) mode, you can employ all six cards for GPGPU applications and floating point acceleration. The theoretical performance potential of such an environment would be in the 6 TFlops neighborhood for single-precision applications (double precision will cause the performance to drop by 80 to 90 percent.) To put this performance into perspective, consider the fact that Intel’s 1997 Pentium Pro supercomputer with 10,000 CPUs was rated at 1 TFlops.

The actual performance advantage of supercomputers is not entirely based on pure processing horsepower, but also memory capacity, which GPUs cannot match. But the simple thought that you can add six graphics cards with 4,800 processors for about $1,200 to rival the performance of supercomputers that cost billions of dollars a decade ago (at least in some applications) is stunning.

On the power side, Gigabyte’s engineers developed a separated 12-phase power supply for the CPU; a 2-Phase structure is in place for the memory and a separate 2-Phase regulation for the PCI Express slots. The company indicated that there will be room for overclocking and special attention was paid to ensure "workstation-class stability under any conditions."

The board can support up to 24 GB DDR3-1333, or 6 GB of DDR3-1900/2000 memory (using overclocked 2 GB DIMMs). Thanks to the 2-Phase regulation, there should be enough juice to hold future 4 GB DDR3-1333 modules.

The board is still being worked on and the prototype will undergo significant modifications in the storage and cooling department, we were told. The combined air/water-cooling block will be modified so that the six graphics cards can fit. All six SATA ports will be rotated to support extend-length PCIe cards.

SATA 3.0 comes to life.....

2008-08-26T22:00:00.001+05:30

Chicago (IL) - SATA 3.0 has made its first appearance at IDF, as peripherals are slowly but surely approaching the limits of SATA or SATA-II. The latest SSDs are hitting data transfer rates of 250 MB/s, close the theoretical maximum of 300 MB/s of SATA-II.

Visitors at this year’s Fall IDF were able to see the initial SATA 3.0 specification, which will expand the bandwidth of the interface standard from 3 Gbits/sec. (300 MB/sec.) to 6 Gbits/sec. (600 MB/sec.). It is interesting to note that the SATA 3.0 spec equals the bandwidth offered by the original SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) specification. By doubling the speed from 2.0 and 3.0, the standards body is hoping that the bandwidth of SATA 3.0 spec will be sufficient for the next couple of years.

We are not so sure. Given the speed increase of SSDs over the past 12 months, we would suspect that 6 Gb/s could last for 12 months, especially if we consider the fact that SATA 3.0 devices are in development already. And companies such as Fusion-IO offer products hitting 2GB/s speeds, which means that even 600 MB/s is not enough.

Intel G45 Motherboard to have 4 display support...

2008-08-26T21:56:00.000+05:30

The number of monitors supported by one system is typically limited by the number of graphics card outputs, which is a nice for Nvidia and ATI, as it enables both companies to sell their low-end GPUs as more expensive Quadro NVS and FirePro models with four display interfaces. The other alternative, of course, is DisplayLink, a company that specializes in transmitting visual data through a USB link. So far, DisplayLink support was only provided to displays that included the firm’s DP-120/160 chips.

DisplayLink has decided to provide its technology through a license model and it appears that the first major customer is Intel.

According to DisplayLink, Intel’s 4 Series chipset for desktop and notebook displays will support four displays at the same time: Two displays are supported through conventional outputs, while two more displays can be connected via USB 2.0.
