A brand new start-up company called ConstDoc for use in construction project delivery. The companies main focus is tailored to bring multiple companies to 1 place to host files needed for the successful execution of a construction project.

After 2 years of designing a new start-up company called ConstDoc for use in construction project delivery has been unveiled. The company’s main goal is tailored to bring multiple companies to 1 place to host files needed for the successful execution of a construction project. Bringing Subcontractors, General Contractors, Construction Managers, Engineers, Architects, and Owners together to share 1 version of every document. Less time and material will be spent on document filing and more time can be spent in the field on quality control.

Anyone that has spent any time working with a construction project knows the challenges and hurdles that need to be cleared to successfully execute a construction project under budget and ahead of schedule. ConstDoc aims to bridge that communication gap. There will be no more email files that are too large, when you can copy a hyperlink from your browser and email the hyperlink. When the Architect issues a document to ConstDoc it is directly available to the Contractors to perform the work. Further more, this will give the contractors the opportunity to share the MEP Coordination drawings, construction models, and submitted change proposals to the Design Team (Architect, Engineer, Consultants) for one fully unified, collaborative efforts.

A single monthly price of $41.67/month, plus applicable taxes is simplistic along with it’s website design. Unlike ConstDoc, typical sites are priced on a per user basis; using a grouping model allows multiple users to work under 1 account with multiple user logins.

Being the Owner and Designer of ConstDoc I have to ultimately recommend the use of ConstDoc on every project. After using this system you will not know how you ever lived without the efficiency, and collaborative efforts that are behind using a unified central location for your construction documents. From bidding, estimating, preconstruction, design, and constructing a project you will not be disappointed with this service.

I’ve had the Rebel for one full month now. I have pressed that shutter button around 800 times already. It’s so easy to take tons of pictures. Most of which are junk for me. I have had some luck though, and I am learning new things everyday with the camera. Shooting in the preset modes is ridiculously easy because the Rebel won’t let you adjust most of the settings. It says “If you are shooting in this mode you either want me to do the work for you or you don’t know how to do the work, no problem sit back and hammer down on that shutter button, I’ll take care of it.” And take care of it the Rebel has. Some of the best pictures I have taken so far are in the preset modes.

I really enjoy photography, always have. My one gripe with my last digital camera which was just a cheap, Kodak, point and shoot, is that is never took a decent picture. I’m sure most of it was the user because if you know what you are doing with a point and shoot then you can take some very good pictures. I didn’t though and it took me buying a $500 camera to take the time and read forums and a couple books to begin to understand what it really means to compose a photograph.

I am really glad I got the Rebel as I held a Canon 40D just two days ago and man is that heavy and BIG. I would not have been ready for a camera like that yet even though I wanted it so badly 2 months ago. Eventually I may upgrade to that but I like the smaller size and capabilities of the Rebel right now. While the Rebel isn’t exactly compact it is much smaller that the other Canon models and is much more portable in my opinion. It is strange pulling this camera out to take a picture with people around, I can’t imagine the feeling of pulling out a 40D with a 70-200mm L series lens on! Being that I am still just getting into it, it is weird for me to be carrying around this camera. It is an insecurity of mine that I know will pass with each press of the shutter. I love the feeling I get when I am looking through that viewfinder though composing a photo. It’s like I am a different person and people don’t matter to me, they are just subjects that can add or take away from a composition then.

There isn’t as big of a learning curve as I have expected to be able to successfully take a picture. Once you learn that the camera is almost always right you will be just fine. I am almost exclusively shooting in RAW because the post processing is another great part of photography to me. (If you don’t know what RAW is don’t worry, neither did I) When I bought the Rebel I decided to go with my peers thoughts and opt not to get the kit lens and just go right for the better lens. Now I’m not talking about L series lens at all. I bought the 1.8-50mm prime lens to start because I read an excellent post about learning about composition starting with a prime lens. Basically is said that if you start with a zoom lens you won’t interact with the subject you are shooting, you will just stand there and zoom in and out. I didn’t want to start like that so I settled for the very cheap but fast nifty 50. I love having this lens as it will be a main go-to lens for years to come. I also find myself wanting another lens already for those shots where I wish I could zoom-in to capture something instead of relying on heavy cropping to get the composition I want. I believe my next lens is going to be the 28-135mm IS USM Lens by Canon. It seems to be another must have lens for beginners and I feel it will give me the capabilities I am looking for in a lens for at least a month or two. lol I can already see how this hobby is going to suck money out of my just like all of my other hobbies. They are never ending! But they are worth it so I don’t usually mind.

I have been working day and night to learn all I can about this hobby and will continue to do so. If you have any comments, suggestions, or rants because I bought a Canon please do so in the comments below. Have a good one.

When I first started blogging I had two problems, where to post, and how to post. The first problem I remedied by getting two free domains to post in and dropped the first one. The second problem I did some research on and came up with a free Microsoft solution. Windows Live Writer can be downloaded for free here. It is a very easy to use program you install on your computer and allows you to write your content offline and hit the Publish button to publish your posts. That’s it, It’s that easy! Of course there are many more features to it.

That is the main selling point for me here today. It’s easy to use for people that may not know the ins and outs of all the advanced menus. Sure you can add all your key words, set publish dates, write with multiple author names and save drafts to come back to at a later time.

One must have feature and one I use in almost all my posts is the “split post” button on the Formatting toolbar. This breaks your post up and automatically links to the full version of your post. That is where it says “Continue reading …..” This feature enables you to put good previews of the gist of your post on your main page and let the reader decide if they are going to read on or not. I would love to force all my readers to read every one of my posts, but sadly I can’t twist two arms at once (if there even two people reading my posts).

Setting up Windows Live Writer is a 30 second process. Go to Weblog Menu, click on Add New Weblog Account, Follow the Prompts and enter in your blogging URL, username, and password and you are all set up. Then you can just type away even if you are away from an internet connection and publish it when you get back online.

Editing a previous post is just as easy also, just reopen your previous post, make your changes and click publish and it will replace the original with the edited version. I have had to do this multiple times because I am not the greatest with punctuation and spelling errors. So if you do see some, post in the comments below and I will fix it up in no time flat.

If there are any review/mini tutorials of software you wish me to cover please post in the comments below or contact my by email at tech2stuff@gmail.com and I will be sure to do my best.

This Article gets dedicated to Kris for making me get off my lazy arse and write some long needed articles. It’s been awhile since I last posted with school and work taking up most of my time. It is almost summertime and I hope to be posting more regularly. OH, I almost forgot, visit Kris’ blog at http://bettertosaytoomuch.blogspot.com/ and I am sure you won’t be disappointed. I just read an excellent article on “The Perfect Pair of Jeans”. Check it out.

I am currently aboard Southwest Airlines, flight #2466 en-route to Las Vegas. My colleagues and I are attending the AGC, (Association of General Contractors) and the CONEXPO, (Construction Exposition) for a week over spring break. I personally have never been to Vegas but it seems like everyone has the same story. A gentlemen riding in the window seat beside me tells me it’s like an Adult Disney World. If that’s the case I am going to dance with Minnie Mouse! I am a member of PSPEC (Penn State Professional Engineers and Contractors), and our group organized this trip. There are about 20 of us attending from our Penn State Harrisburg campus. During most of the our first few days, 8-5, will be consumed but then we have the nights to ourselves. So if anyone read this, this week, and has any good suggestions on things to do send me a line. I’d love to hear from you.

Being a Junior in College (@ 24 years old that puts me a little behind), I’ve had my share of experiences for my age. None-the-less, my colleagues and I are really looking forward to this trip. We are a rowdy bunch, and have known to get in to some <strike>trouble</strike> situations every once in awhile.

This trip will also put me into contact with some great Construction Management Companies that will be looking to hire so it isn’t all play here. I am going to have my work cut out for me if I want to try to stand out from the crowd and present myself as a good future employee. I will be as professional as possible when it is called for. Luckily, I enjoy doing that so it shouldn’t be any trouble and it should turn out to be one hell of a week.

First off… I love the iPhone, I got to play with it the day after it was released. It was dumb luck that I did, but just from watching a couple of tutorials I was easily able to navigate around. BUT, that sweet piece of technology is just not for me yet. There are a few things about the iPhone I am jealous of but for the most part it seems like more of a toy than a device that will conduct business, and make me more productive. I know there are hosts of people that will disagree with me and that is why it is just an opinion of mine.

I still like having the keyboard in hand typing away with two hands while I don’t have to hold it like I’m trying not to drop it. Heck, I take my Pearl and throw it up in the air like a boomerang. I have found that device is so well balanced that it spins very well in the air. I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that with an iPhone. I need a phone that when I drop it (because, it will be dropped) I won’t feel like I am going to break it. Don’t even get me started on the fingerprints. My Pearl holds enough as it is. I would get OCD and would have to carry around a micro-cloth everywhere so that I could keep that damn screen spotless.

The navigation through web-pages is AWESOME on the iPhone, I am not going to lie. Sometimes I wish people ripped off Apple more often so we could all experience zooming in and out on webpages, and navigating up and down webpages with two fingers. That is the one feature that apple has been using for years that makes me jealous and I utilize every time I touch a Macbook (scrolling webpages with two fingers on the touchpad that is).

I know that people will disagree with me to no end on this subject, and I love the iPhone. Maybe I am just jealous I got a Pearl. (nah, I love that damn phone) The iPhone is just for everyone else. Not me. Even with Exchange support that will be coming soon. That’s right, I find the irony wonderful too. You can’t make a mac product (any technology) without enlisting some MicroGIANT’s help.

The Blackberry Pearl is a great phone. I love the small form factor and the versatility of the phone. I am counting down the days until Sony Ericsson releases the XPERIA X1 though. The moment I saw that phone I was excited for it to be released. I’m not going to lie, it doesn’t help that I am a Sony fanboy. I have been bought more Sony products in the last year that I have ever. I am really pleased with the products they have released, between the PS3, the VAIO FZ I am writing this on, and I just found out the ASUS 22″ monitor I have at home is even made by Sony.

Anyhow, The XPERIA X1 if you haven’t heard of it is a touchscreen face with a hide-away QUERY keyboard underneath.

I am really impressed with the fact that the screen slides up at a curve though. I believe that it will give it a better viewing angle when you are typing on it. I also am pleased with the way it’s manufactured. I am assuming it will be just a hair larger than the Pearl and more-than-likely a bit thicker than that. I like to keep my phones on the smaller side because I normally carry my phones in my front left pocket. I don’t want it to look like I am walking around with a banana in my pocket if you know what I mean ;-).

I am also looking forward to getting to play with my first Windows Mobile device. I see the features that Vista has implemented to be compatible with phones and I am jealous that I need a 3rd party App to sync up my phone. I really enjoy the fact of having a touch screen (read: iphone) but it will still have the versatility to have a keyboard for those longer e-mails and text messages. I still don’t understand why someone would want to type on a flat surface without any raised keys. I personally don’t see how it could be fast at all.

Some features I am really hoping are included in this device are 3G, WiFi, and GPS. These are the 3 key hardware devices I am hoping that are supported by this phone. Time will tell. Until that day comes, I will enjoy my itty bitty pearl….
