Greetings from Deshpande Foundation and Deshpande Educational Trust (DET).

We are pleased to launch the Master of Social Entrepreneurship (MSE), affiliated by Karnatak University.

What makes MSE program special? With an aim to demystify social entrepreneurship for young and creative minds this residential program is carefully designed from a practitioner’s perspective. MSE is hosted by Deshpande Center for Social entrepreneurship (DCSE) that has been a breeding ground of several start-ups, an international network of enterprises and concrete partnerships with over 100 for profits and not –for profits who all are engaged in solving social issues with a compassionate heart and entrepreneurial mind set.

Two year program is packaged with 25 different courses that blend with cutting edge practical experience as well as personal mentorship through real entrepreneurs. Our international experience in US and Canada where Deshpande Centers been launched in renowned universities with a sole objective to make “learning relevant and responsive to real time challenges” and embark on an even more ambitious aim to help students not just ‘learn’ about entrepreneurship but find the inspirations and tools of becoming an entrepreneur themselves. Who should join MSE? Graduates in any field who are looking to step into creating or managing a social enterprise themselves. People who are passionate about social issues but still possess an entrepreneurial acumen to venture into innovative and yet sustainable initiatives. IT quiz by Technology for Common

Tech4C conducted IT quiz competition for fellows at Deshpande Foundation, Hubli.
The topics were included in the quiz were MS Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Publisher and PPT), Internet, Email and General computer knowledge.

Quiz had some interesting rounds such as Leader round, Do or Die round, Grand slam round and visual round.

The pre-training IT classes for DFP8 were concluded on 31st March, 2012. The last 12 days of their IT training fellows were involved in closely monitored IT practice. They were provided checklist to practice IT. To check their IT learning's Tech4C conducted final IT test on 30th of March, 2012 which was in Q&A mode with practical approach. Each fellow was graded based on various parameters such as previous written IT tests, blog activeness, clarifying doubts and participation in class. The overall class learning percentage was approximately 70

IT quiz competition for fellows

Technology for Common conducted quiz competition to enhance the learning experience of the fellows. The 2 teams were from Koutilya cohort2 and Deshpande fellowship program - cohort8. The topics covered for the quiz were MS Office package (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Internet and computer basics. Quiz has 4 rounds namely General round, Visual round, Rapid fire round and Group act. It was very close encounter between the 2 teams but at the end Koutilya cohort 2 emerged as winners scoring 140.5 out of 170. DFP8 scored 105.5 out of 170.

NGO staff IT training

Technology for Common organized 1 day IT training for the NGO staff. The training objective was to demonstrate and train the trainees using Office tools (MS word, PowerPoint, Publisher) and Internet tools (Internet search, effective email, social networking) in their day to day work. Trainees were from following organizations

Exploring india.gov.in website

india.gov.in is the National Portal of India. It has different sections like Government where you can find informations about constitution of India, Parliament, Rules and Acts etc, the section Citizen and find information on Health, Education, Employment etc.

Tech4C at Deshpande Foundation, Hubli conducted class for cohort 8 fellows of Deshpande Fellowship Program where they explored the How Do I ? section of the site. Fellows were divided in to 5 groups of 5 each and were assigned 4 topics on which they created ppts and presented to the class. End of each group presentation there was Q&A session to clarify doubts and any other questions.

Some of the topics assigned were obtaining (birth, caste, marriage) certificate, applying for (PAN, TAN, ration) card, registering (land/property, vehicle) etc.

DFP Cohort 8 had a training on Windows Movie Maker last week, all the fellows had participated well in the training and created their own videos as a practice. All the Videos have come up very well for the first attempt, these will be having a Movie making Competition on 17th of Feb 2012. Fellows are about to create their videos of their own activities during the class, outside the class cultural activities, etc. They will showcase their videos in the class and also through the social media too.

They all are doing a great job and we wish them all the best for their upcoming videos.

Creative movie competition

The current cohort8 batch of Deshpande fellowship program went through movie preparing competition as part of their IT training. The topics for the movie selected were,

Indian army,
IPL T20,
Global warming,
Sri Vivekanada - The power,
Indian temples and
Manual scavengers in India

Movie on "Indian army" got the most appreciation by the audience for its patriotism element and the movie on "Manual scavengers in India" created by Priyanka Jadhav, Rajashree S H and Jagadish M Kammar.

The next movie competition is held on 17th February, 2012 where top 6 movies created by fellows will compete for the most creative movie title.

IT Classes for DSF Cohort-3

Currently Technology for Common program is giving IT training for Deshpande Susandhi Fellowship cohort 3, there are 21 fellows in this batch. From February 2012 another batch of 16 fellows will start as DSF cohort 4. The present batch is undergoing PowerPoint and Publisher, where all the fellows will create their own business cards and flyers, also they will prepare a PPT for a presentation, the fellows will have practical learning in all the topics they learn here.

DSK cohort2 IT classes

Currently Koutilya's second batch is going through their fellowship. Technology for Common handling the IT classes, to equip them with IT applications such as MS Office 2007 and Online, Offline IT tools. The training facility is well equipped with digital lab and young enthusiastic trainers. Each fellow gets the personal assistance so that training can have greater impact.

The first phase of the 20 days "Performance Enhancement Training" for Bayer's CropScience Pvt. Ltd Staff was successfully completed today on 16th April, 2011 at DCSE, Hubli. The participants learned basics of computers (hardware and software concepts), tech tools such as social networking, emailing. Technology for Common had organized IT training for Bellad & company employees for 2 days (08th and 09th Feb 2011) in Dehspande Centre for Social Entrepreneurship Hubli. People from Hubli, Dharwad, Belagaum, Bellary, Hospet and many other places have attended this training, the training was about MS Office 2007 Effective E mailing and social networking sites. This was 2nd batch of 30- 35 trainees, the 1st batch was done in the month of January 17th and 18th 2011 there 2 more batches to go
The attendees for the training were from sales, service and accounts department from different Dealership showrooms of Bellad and company like Hero Honda, Sony, HMT, Hyundai, Chevrolet (four wheelers showroom) etc.

IT training for Deshpande Foundation staff on blogging, adding new things to the blogs already created. Working on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and other things. All the program managers have attended this training in developing their own program blogs. It was done on Saturday 04-12-2010 in DCSE Digital lab; this session was organized by "Technology for Common". The program Tech 4 Common is meant for IT training fro all, to develop their skills in technology that would help everyone in their day to day work.

Some of the DF staff has attended other training on Saturday morning. This was also held by "Tech 4 Common" to understand some of requirements available online, like booking travelling and boarding and other things in order to save time and better use of available resource

There was an IT training for Agastya International Foundation in the month of Oct 2010, the staff of AIF had attended this training in Deshpande Centre for Social Entrepreneurship (DCSE) Hubli and learnt about Social networking, blogging and online communication tools etc.

Mr Nitin Desai of Agastya International Foundation told that this training was helpful to their staff, which gave them a good expoure in IT and the tools were useful to them.

They have created their own Blog and Facebook fan page which are very good tools to promote their activities online.

Technology for Common, is the program by Deshpande Educational Trust, DCSE Hubli.

This program will be doing lot of trainings in IT for Students, Faculties, Professionals, NGO staff, etc. This is the platform for all to discover technology. DCSE has a Digital Lab with 30 systems with the high speed internet connectivity and the lab will be open for 24 hours and 7 days a week.

Deshpande Centre for Social Entrepreneurship more focuses on Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Creativity and learning by doing, here in DCSE there are many programs going on which are working with students, Faculties and NGO in sandbox region (Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Belgaum and Uttar Kannada districts).
