CalDigit Now Start Shipping The AV Drive For Mac

CalDigit has started shipping their AV drive for the Mac, the first single drive solution, completely optimized for audio and video purposes of CalDigit.

The CalDigit AV Drive also holds the distinction of being the first USB 3.0 drive for the Mac, letting you enjoy super speeds of up to 145 MB/s.

It comes with a dual interface drive that supports FireWire 800, but the CalDigit guys went the extra mile by optimizing it to run up to 30% faster compared to other FireWire 800 drives.

You can now order the CalDigit AV Drive 1TB model for $199, and the CalDigit SuperSpeed PCI Express Card is going for $59.

LaCie Launches Small USB 3.0 Drives

LaCie has announced two new external storage at delivering fast transfer speeds and ample capacity in a small package. The portable 2.5-inch LaCie Rikiki and the 3.5-inch LaCie Minimus for desktops are both encased in a sturdy brushed aluminum shell for an elegant look, as well as improved durability and heat dissipation, and have been updated with USB 3.0 connectivity to provide a theoretical maximum transfer rate of 5Gb/s.

The two devices are compatible with Mac and Windows and come with 10GB of Wuala online backup storage. The manufacturer is also throwing in its LaCie Software Suite to make it easy to set the drives up and start local backups to protect data.

With measuring 2.9-inch x 4.6-inch x 0.52-inch, the LaCie Rikiki USB 3.0 will come in 500GB and 1TB and listed for $100. The Lacie Minimus USB 3.0 on the other hand measures 4.4-inch x 1.2-inch x 6.8-inch, comes in 1TB for $130.

The eLocity A7 tablet is now up for pre-order on Amazon for $370, but there is still no word on when it will be actually shipping out to the consumers yet.

As reminder, the device is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 T20 system on a chip clocked at 1GHz with 1MB of L2 cache, and features a 7-inch touchscreen, 4GB of built-in flash memory, a microSDHC card slot. It also has a 1.3-megapixel camera, 802.11b/g wireless, Bluetooth, HDMI output with support for 1080p videos, and one USB 2.0 port.

Acer has introduced a new ultra compact PC suitable for both home media and general purpose uses. Dubbed as the Apsire Revo 3700, it including a dual-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom D525 processor and an Nvidia Ion GPU. The machine can handle 1080p HD media, and can cope with DirectX 10 games.

It also has 4GB of DDR3 memory and a 500GB hard drive with four USB 2.0 ports, VGA and HDMI outputs, and a mini PCIe slot, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11b/g/n connectivity.

There is still no official information about the pricing and the release date yet. But you can expect the Revo 3700 to appear later this year at a somewhat with priced around $580.

Google has released a new feature namely Instant for Google search engine, to helping users find information more quickly and easily than ever before by showing results as words are typed into the site’s search box. The company estimates that by predicting your search and showing results before you finish typing, Google Instant can not only save 2-5 seconds per search, but also serve as a useful guide for users who don’t know exactly what they are searching for.

Results appear for the top auto suggestion as you type, with no need to hit enter or click the search button, while other suggestions appear in a drop down list.

The new feature is enabled by default for users in the U.S. and several European countries, but you’ll need to be on Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Internet Explorer 8 for the service to work.
