The zebroid (cross between a zebra and any other equine) showed in the picture above, Eclyse, is a very unusual one, because of her coloring. With her über distinct makings, it’s really hard not to think she’s a Photoshop mock-up.

Tricky desktop picture.

Why Get UK Reseller Web Hosting

2010-06-23T17:45:00.001+05:30

There are tons of resellers out there. Cheaper ones don't always make the cut: sometimes it matters that a vendor is close by and available to give tech support and other vital forms of assistance to its customers. Here are just a few of the many good reasons why you should consider UK reseller web hosting, above hosting offered in other countries.

Let's get one thing straight - UK reseller web hosting is not the same as UK web hosting. This doesn't mean the server will be located in the UK. It just means that the reseller service - which is essentially a marketing arm of the web host - will be located in the UK.

Ideally, a reseller vendor offers a great many useful services, not just the ability to pass a customer on to a web host. But this is also being done by some resellers. A reseller vendor, for example, could dispense of web space and then just gets a commission from the total sale, leaving the customer entirely in the care of the web host. A reseller and a web host could arrive at an agreement like this, and in such a system the reseller puts out nothing by way of cash. This system works to the advantage of the reseller and the web host - though price-wise, it may not be so grand for the customer.

There are other means of reselling, however. Another popular way is for a reseller to buy a large amount of web space from a web host, and then redistribute this space in smaller chunks to interested buyers. Besides offering maximum flexibility of usage, this method also works to the benefit of the customer, because if one buys smaller web space and transfer allocation, one can expect to pay so much less than if he or she would buy a large amount of space directly from a web host, quite like the reseller did.

Web hosts don't usually offer very flexible accounts. Their smallest package is sometimes rather large even for individual use. Sometimes a customer will want only 200 mb of space, or less - what web host offers that little? Chances are, if you find a site that offers that little space as a starter package, it is the site of a genuine reseller - whether or not it is explicitly stated.

The advantage to having UK reseller web hosting is that the marketing aspect of web space sales is localized. A customer can talk to a UK-based customer representative for inquiries and such, and communication mishaps are minimized.

Web Hosting and Design Services Companies

2010-06-23T17:44:00.000+05:30

Huge businesses and organizations spend a lot of time and money creating magnificent websites that are of top quality in terms of their looks and programming capabilities. Very often, they get disappointed when they approach their web hosting service provider to launch their brilliant sites because of server incompatibilities. Some of them realize that parts of their website's functionality do not work correctly when hosted on to their server; some of them realize that a particular service, which would be the core to their business model, could not be implemented on their server. In such situations, these companies have to spend additional time and money to make their website functionalities compatible with their server specifications.

All of this happens because of the gulf that exists between the web design company and the web hosting service provider. This could be avoided to a certain extent by having your web design company communicate with your web hosting company before your website is built. However, this may not be an apt solution because your web hosting company has to be cooperative in responding to your web design company.

The ideal solution in such situations is to look for companies that will offer both services. There are many companies today that offer multiple services. Therefore, you need to find a reliable company that offers both web design and web hosting services. You will win a great advantage by hiring such a company to take care of your web design and web hosting needs. You do not have to worry about wasting your time and money in restructuring your website to make it compatible to your hosting server. While analyzing your requirements itself, the web design team will be able to advise you on any issues that may rise later or at least take care of the issues during the development phase.

If you are new to online business and just setting up your new website then the above points are very pertinent to you. As a fresher to the field, you will not be able to make wise decisions on the features and functions of your website that will lead to functional efficiency of your website. Very often, it happens that the new comer finds it difficult to translate what their web hosting company says in terms of server compatibility, Operating System, scripts etc to their web design company. This inadequacy of the website owner leads to the delay in the completion of their website. If they have not anticipated this delay but planned to have their website launched before a certain season to promote their business, there is a great danger of missing their deadline, defeating the whole purpose of having a website.

Hiring a company that offers both web design and web hosting service will also help you in the long run. This will help your website maintenance become much easier. Every website needs periodic maintenance at hosting levels and at design levels to ensure continued efficiency of operation of the website. Therefore, when it comes to website maintenance, you need not have to run to two different vendors. You can have them all done from the same vendor. It is all the better to get your website maintenance service from those who developed your website.

Choosing a Web Hosting Provider by Their Customer Service

2010-06-23T17:43:00.000+05:30

When choosing a web-hosting provider, there will be tons of questions you need answered before settling on the service that is right for you. Most often, when dealing with customer service, there tends to be a conflict of interest. Of course, they are trying to sell a service to you, so their ultimate goal is to make their web hosting features sound much better than the next choice.

Some companies will even stretch the truth just to attract business. For these customer service representatives, it is all about securing the deal and achieving a sale. But, what about the customer? In the long run, it is actually detrimental for businesses to lure a customer under false, misinformed or vague pretenses. If customer needs are not successfully satisfied or the company doesn't deliver as promised, consumers are sure to place negative feedback and spread the word about their experiences.

Customer service is put into place to help customers make the decisions that are right for them. Just because a company offers low prices, doesn't mean it will provide the proper services that a particular customer needs. They may need specific features to achieve all of their Internet goals and desires. It is the responsibility of customer service to make sure that all inquiries are answered with customer satisfaction in mind.

As a customer, familiarizing yourself with the ins and outs of web hosting providers and services is quite beneficial. Arming yourself with relevant knowledge will help you pinpoint the type of questions you need to ask a customer representative when searching for a service. How will you be able to comparison shop if you don't even know some of the basics of web hosting? There are numerous aspects of choosing a web hosting provider that you should take into consideration. Below you will find a few areas of web hosting to keep in mind when researching web-hosting companies:

Email: Having access to more than one email account through a web hosting company is quite desirable. Good questions to ask customer service regarding email is how many accounts you will receive. Will they provide a catch-all account? Will there be any limitations to the space per account or the size allowed for attachments?

Disk Space and Bandwidth: The answers to questions pertaining to these topics will determine your limitations regarding website space and Internet traffic. Ask web hosting customer service reps how many sub-domains are allowed. How much hard disk space will you receive? How much maximum bandwidth?

Information Protection: For some, backing up information is extremely important. A potential customer will want to know if a web-hosting provider has any backup policies. Will it cost additional fees to retrieve these backups, if offered? How many times during a week, month or year are files backed up?

Knowing a little bit about related web hosting topics before approaching customer service allows you to get the most out of your questions. In the end, with the help of a reliable customer service rep with good intentions, you may or may not choose a particular web hosting company for your business.

What to Look for in a Web Hosting Provider

2010-06-23T17:42:00.000+05:30

The Internet is one of the largest sources for information available now-a-days. Millions of company and personal websites are opening up every day. One should also be a part of it to survive in today’s competitive world. Before opening a website, however, he needs to have a solid web hosting provider. In this article, the necessary aspects of a web hosting provider will be discussed briefly.

One needs to find a web hosting company that meets his requirements. It is never an easy task to search for an adequate web hosting provider. However, this task will be simpler if one knows what they should look for.

The primary objective that one should look into is support. No matter how great the web host is, one will need assistance sooner or later. It is a good idea to send them some e-mails (most preferably in awkward times) to have an idea of their response time. This way, one can also judge the provider’s quality of answers beside the speed. A web hosting company that offers the right balance of quickness and substance should definitely be on one’s preferred list. A host offering a true 24/7 support is highly suggested. It is imperative that they provide several different types of support. Usually, most web hosting companies offer message boards, help desks and an online support staff. One will be benefited immensely if he can talk to an online member of the support team via popular online messengers such as ICQ, AIM, YAHOO or MSN when he just needs a quick fix. Message boards are also an effective tool used by the web hosting provider to contact their group of clients on issues which the company has not covered beforehand. Aspects of design or formatting of clients’ web pages are some of the problems handled by message boards. A lot of web hosting message boards show a friendly and helpful attitude which makes it easy for a client to join in. One should check out all the types of support and compare them with other companies he might be interested in doing business with.

One needs to compare the price of the service to the number of benefits offered by the provider. There is no point in paying a setup fee when a web hosting provider has nothing unique to offer and hence, it is best to look for hosts with a $0 setup fee. One should also look for a month-to-month payment system as it gives you the freedom to switch hosts in case their performance/quality drops radically. One should also check out the public forums to find out if the clients of a particular web hosting provider are really satisfied. As little as ten percent bad review mean there is something wrong with the host. Hence, you should also try this before picking a web hosting provider.

In a nutshell, extensive research is the key to find a good web hosting provider.

8 Ways To Host Your Site

2010-06-23T17:40:00.002+05:30

There are 8 basic types of the web hosting available in the market today. Hosting even by IT standards, is not considered exciting, if it was a country it would be Belgium. If it was another business it would be fleet car leasing, where shared hosting would be company car pooling. Dedicated, leasing of cars to a sales force on a rolling annual rental contract or lease agreement. Like the gold rush in the Sierra Nevada in 49, nobody pays much attention to the stores the picks and shovels, but this is a mistake it can be vital to your sites success. It is crucial to security and in vital if maintaining site integrity, to have a hosting partner who will grow with you and react quickly and decisively to resolve problems when they arise. A good host can even be a source of revenue for your site.

1. Dedicated Server – rental as well as the exclusive use of an internet connection, server and software

2. Shared hosting – Multiple websites are being hosted on just one remote hard drive and server

3. Reseller hosting – reselling of hosting accounts for another web host under a brand of your own. You determine the pricing structure and other aspects of the offer.

4. Virtual Private Server - You are not renting a real server, but you are rather splitting hardware with the other virtual servers running on the same machine. Many self contained virtual server can exist on one rented remote server.

5. Free hosting – Service usually offered by ISP’s or compensated with advertisements on your website. Free hosting usually offers little or no support, bandwidth, space, or the free scripts or site building features you enjoy with shared and dedicated hosting.

6. Managed Hosting - Expanded dedicated web server hosting. In dedicated servers, the client has to take care of his or her own server but in managed hosting, the provider would have the responsibility of doing that Unmanaged Hosting - Total remote control administration of your web server. The server's technical aspects are controlled by the designated administrator which you would select to manage and handle your website information.

7. Colocation – Requires that you to bring your server to the data center of your host.

8. Clustered hosting - Used by the biggest and most important websites, you buy manage and physically house the servers yourself. Clustered means that the same content would be served on a number of servers enabling better redundancy and resource. Works well for Google.

As you can see there are many types of hosting account. Whether you are planning business web hosting or you intend to run a school site or maybe you are simply planning on getting a small hobby site up and running, you have a decision to make, what hosting package do you chose.

How To Get Cheap Web Hosting Without Sacrificing Features

2010-06-23T17:40:00.001+05:30

If you are going to have any kind of web presence you will need a web hosting company to host your site. It doesn?t make any difference whether you are a large company doing business on the internet with shopping cars and thousands of products or just someone who wants to share their hobby with the world.

There are so many different web hosting companies out there that it can be a confusing process just trying to choose one, much less trying to find one that is affordable. Here are a few things to consider that will take some of the headache out of the process for you.

The first thing that must be determined is what type of website or websites you are going to feature. This will greatly influence your ultimate choice in web hosts. If you are only going to have a website of less than one hundred pages and you aren?t going to be hosting videos and streaming audio you will find that a standard entry level web hosting package will probably do the trick for you. You can find these packages for under $10 per month and there are numerous companies that offer this type of service.

Another option to consider as a small company is shared web hosting. Again you can get this type of service for well under $10 per month and you can always upgrade as you grow. The thing to remember is not to sacrifice quality just to save a few bucks a year. There isn?t a lot of difference in price to go with a web host that offers really good features as opposed to one that offers shoddy service.

One of the other issues that can be confusing for people is that of bandwidth. In a nutshell, this is the amount of data that your site is allowed to transfer through the web host?s servers. If you are operating a business website do not skimp on this. Many web hosts have automatic shut downs enabled if your site goes over its monthly bandwidth allotment. It isn?t as crucial if you are just running a personal or hobby type of site but if you are running a business a shut down website is the equivalent of locked doors at a brick and mortar business.

Although it is nearly impossible to determine a bandwidth amount in the beginning you can get a good idea to start with by figuring the number of web pages you have, their size in megabytes, and the number of hits you expect daily and multiply it to get an idea for the bandwidth usage you may have over a month. If you choose the right web hosting company they will let you upgrade if it looks like you are going to go over. Another key is to be sure that the company offers web stats that will allow you to check the traffic and hits that are coming to your site.

Choosing an Affordable Website Hosting Plan Is Easy When Planned

2010-06-23T17:39:00.001+05:30

Money is an issue. When you just start your site, you don't want to spend any extra cash on the features you do not need at the moment. In this article we'll try to help you and guide you on how to choose a website hosting plan which will yet fit all your needs.

Compare the features several website hosting providers offer and make sure you get as much as possible for every penny spent. Today there are many hosting providers available, so you are surely to find one to suit all your website may need.

First, analyze the traffic limits the providers under consideration offer. Sometimes an affordable website hosting plan offers more traffic than a more expensive one, but mostly often the situation is different.

Remember, that your site will grow someday and you certainly don't want to go upgrade right after you have a considerable amount of visitors. Today there are enough opportunities to get good traffic allowances.

Second, find out everything about the disk space offer. Choose the plan that will fit your planned website, not the one you have right now. It is possible these days to find a hosting provider that gives you plenty of hard disk space even if you don't pay very much.

Check the performance records of the providers. If outages are frequent and last for long periods of time, you better don't buy from them, no matter how affordable their website hosting plans are. Nothing scares your customers and hurts your image more, than a message about your website being unavailable.

Consider a traffic statistics reporting feature. You'll need one to track your traffic records, analyze them and then target your marketing campaign so that your site develops steadily. Most providers do have such a feature installed on every plan. If not, an email inquiry may help as some of them turn this function on when you demand it.

It would be smart to check for some special offers. Many providers offer additional bonuses to those who buy affordable website hosting plans from them. This can be a cheap domain registration and renewal opportunity, preinstalled scripts, additional hosting period and many more. Don't fret to ask for a discount though almost every provider already runs some kind of a promotion. The rivalry in the segment is huge so the companies value each and every customer.

It goes without any doubt that there are still many aspects one should or could pay attention to when choosing an affordable website hosting plan for his website. But we have mentioned the most important ones. Make sure there's enough space and traffic allowances for your site to grow. Setting up a good site today is not an easy task so you'll want to be content about your hosting provider's ability to handle the growth of your project.

Six Things To Look For When Choosing a Web Hosting Plan

2010-06-23T17:35:00.002+05:30

If you have never owned, operated or set up a website, then it can be confusing when it is time to choose a hosting firm or a hosting plan for your new website. The best way to deal with this confusion is to learn as much as you can about web hosting and then ask questions to your prospective web hosting firm about any points that are still not clear for you. To help you out, here are six factors to consider when choosing a hosting plan:

1. Disc Space - This is the amount of space on the server that you will have for your website files. In recent years the cost of disc space has fallen, and most web hosting plans allow you ample space, especially if you are only hosting one website. The files for a normal website should not take up more than 50 mb. However if you plan to host mp3 files or an extensive image collection then it could be much higher. In any case many web hosting plans now allow you several gigabytes of storage.

2. Bandwidth - How much data transfer does your web hosting plan allow you to make in a month? Whenever someone views one of your web pages she is in effect downloading the html file to her computer along with all the image files. If you have a lot of traffic and if your site has large files for downloading or streaming, then you will need a good quota of data transfer every month. It is hard to generalize about bandwidth needs, but many websites hardly use more than one gigabyte of data transfers per month. Once again, as with disc space, many web hosting plans now allow several gigabytes of transfer per month.

3. How many domains can you host? - If you plan to construct more than one website then you should choose a hosting plan that allows you to accommodate more than one domain on your section of the server. Who knows, you may want to set up a satellite website once your first website is established? If you think you need more than one website then look for a plan that allows multiple domain hosting.

4. Email facilities - One of the big advantages of having your own website is the ability to set up email addresses, forwarders and auto responders for yourself and for other members of your organization. Check to see how many email-addresses you can set up, either as POP accounts, which can be read online or downloaded with an email client such as Eudora or Outlook Express, or as aliases that forward to existing email accounts. Again, as with bandwidth and disc space most hosting plans allow you many more email accounts than you will ever use.

5. Control Panel - Before you buy a hosting plan, ask to look at a demo of the control panel which you will be using to administer your site. The control panel is the place where you can check the visitor statistics, add or delete email accounts, install scripts and make other technical changes for your website. The control panel should be easy to use and you should take some time to understand what it is all about before purchasing your hosting plan.

6. Are there pre-installed scripts? - The Internet is becoming more interactive, and you will probably want to add elements that will allow your visitors to contact you or even add content. For example, you may want to install a blog on your site or a bulletin board. It can be quite difficult to install these items if you are not a technical "nerd." However, many hosting firms now provide instant one-click installation of the programs that drive blogs, bulletin boards, guest books and similar interactive elements. If you plan to use any of these interactive features, make sure that the hosting plan that you are getting offers the possibility of easily installing these items.

These are the some of the main things to consider when you are choosing your web hosting plan. But remember one rule of thumb: if you are not sure about any of the features of the hosting plan then ask your web hosting firm to explain it to you in plain English.

Dedicated Web Site Hosting

2010-06-23T17:35:00.001+05:30

A dedicated web side hosting is an Internet hosting service through which you rent an entire server in a data center and you have full control over it.

What Can Dedicated Web Site Hosting Offer You?

Dedicated web site hosting is a good option if you do not have the resources to keep a server inside your company. You might not have the money to buy a server or the time and trained staff to maintain it.

With dedicated web site hosting you rent a server in a data center and you have full access over the operating system, you can partition the space to suit your needs and install other software packages if you find it necessary. Other advantages include large bandwidth, large storage space, high security and high connectivity.

The dedicated web site hosting provider is responsible with maintaining the server equipment and the connectivity. They should take care that the hardware components work properly and sort out any hardware problems that might occur.

How To Choose a Dedicated Web Site Hosting

It's important to choose a dedicated web site hosting provider that allows you to choose the hardware components, operating system and applications that suit your needs best. You also have to be able to make future upgrades, such as larger bandwidth, faster processor and more storage space easily and for a moderate price in case the needs change.

If you don't have the qualified staff to administrate the server, you should probably look for a dedicated web site hosting provider that offers administrating services as well. They should also offer 24/7 technical support, as well as consulting services.

Price Range

A dedicated web site hosting service can cost from $100 to over $1000 a month. The price depends on the management services that they provide. If you don't have the resources to manage the server, you should pay for their technical assistance.

You might find some providers that offer dedicated web site hosting services for less than $100, but you would probably have to manage the server yourself with little or no support from them.

Don't Let Bad E-Commerce Web Hosting Cost You Business

2010-06-23T17:34:00.000+05:30

A reliable web hosting company is crucial especially if you operate a business on the internet offering products for sale the require you to have e-commerce web hosting with shopping carts. Unless you have some mega store it is unlikely that you will need your own servers which could cost you several hundred dollars a month, but you do need e-commerce that is reliable and trustworthy that has a good reputation for uptime. When you are running an online business servers being down is the equivalent of having the doors locked in a brick and mortar business.

One of the great things about web hosting is that you have a myriad of choices ranging from low end shared hosting for less than $10 per month to having high end dedicated servers than run well over $300 per month. Whichever one you choose I still recommend you have someone else do the management of the servers for you unless you are a techno geek.

There are many web hosting companies that offer services with specific e-commerce hosting packages built just for small businesses. Knowing what company to choose is a more difficult decision than trying to find one, not just because of the number of choices of web hosting companies available but because the particular e-commerce web hosting needs vary between different companies. As I mentioned before, it is imperative that you take this aspect of putting your business online very seriously as it can make the difference in success or failure.

One of the key issues that you need to be concerned with when you are looking at e-commerce web hosting packages for your business is how much bandwidth you are allowed. Not having enough bandwidth can hurt your business tremendously especially if you get a good deal of traffic or you sell items that have large downloads as well. The bandwidth is shared by all who are on your server and all the visitors who are on it at any given time so don?t cut yourself short..

Another key issue to look for in e-commerce web hosting is a web hosting company with the fewest "hops? from the internet backbone, hops are basically each server or router that are between the user and the internet backbone, the best of course would be a hosting company that feeds directly from the internet backbone. You should also try to choose a company that has the latest state of the art web server hardware with the most up to date multiple processor servers to avoid any problems.

As mentioned previously reliability is a must as well as redundancy which means they should have more than one backbone provider in case something goes wrong. If you plan on having an online store or large catalogue disk space will definitely be an issue that you will want to address as well. The e-commerce web hosting company you choose should also provide the best security for the online transactions that you will be accepting which at this time is called SSL.

These are the basic e-commerce web hosting features you should have, you may require upgrades such as back end data integration or recurring payment options but those are things you can discuss with the host you choose.

Do You Know How To Read The Signs Of A Bad Web Hosting Company?

2010-06-23T17:33:00.002+05:30

With the proliferation of web hosting companies to choose from and even local operations springing up in spare bedrooms it is becoming increasingly difficult to discover the bad web hosts and separate them from the reputable ones.

One of the first signs of a bad web hosting company that should set off sirens and warning bells in your head is lack of support. This is the easiest and quickest way to tell, if the company isn?t returning your phone calls or emails then it?s simple, they are no good. This is typical of the type of web hosting companies we see springing up all over the internet that have no support staff and offer no customer support whatsoever. Be careful and stay away from the small fly by night web hosts. Cheap can be costly in other ways, I like to test them ahead of time by calling in to ask about features and see how long I have to wait on hold listening to elevator music or how many push button prompts I have to go through to get a real person.

Still another way to check out a web host is to look at their profit. If the web host you are looking at is traded publicly take a look at their profit reports, if they are then you?re in good shape, if not you probably want to look elsewhere. If you are looking at a private hosting company take a look at the prices they are charging, are they the cheapest or are they in the middle? It is best to choose someone in the middle as those offering the cheapest are either cutting features, have no support, or are simply not making enough money to be able to remain a viable business.

Another easy to see issue is constant price changes. If the web hosting company is constantly adjusting prices it indicates they don?t know what they are doing or they are starving from charging to little to begin with and are now having to make adjustments.

For hobby sites or web sites that really don?t matter much it may not hurt you tremendously to have a bad experience with a web host, but if you are like many of us on the internet and are actually trying to earn a living, a bad web host can destroy your business overnight. Keep close tabs on the web hosting company you choose until they have proven themselves to be trustworthy

How To Decide Between Free Web Hosting And Paid Web Hosting For Your Blog

2010-06-23T17:33:00.001+05:30

There are many choices for web hosting companies available and for blogging there are many free choices offered as well. The question that comes to mind to me is, "Is free webhosting cheap?? What I mean by that is what is it going to cost me in terms of functionality and accessibility. Let?s take a look at some of the comparisons between free web hosting and paid web hosting.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last couple of years then you know that blogging has become a formidable force on the internet and has allowed many people to get an online presence that may otherwise have been unable to do so. Many of these people are making their living by blogging and some like Jason Calcanis have become wealthy from it. Jason built a network of blogs over about eighteen months and sold them to AOL for nearly $30 million! That?s a pretty good ROI. Anyway, I digress, back to our discussion on web hosting.

If you have decided that you want to operate a blog your next choice will probably be what blogging platform or software you want to use to accomplish you blogging. Relax, it?s easy. Most of the blogging software out there today is open source which means it?s, you guessed it, free! In this instance free is not a bad thing, I use Wordpress almost exclusively, it is free and has more options that I care to learn or use. There are other blogging software options available, but I won?t go into them here because this article is about web hosting.

As far as web hosting for your blog you can choose free web hosting or paid so let?s take a closer look at our choices. First off, you can choose Blogger which is owned by Google. Blogger is a good program especially for beginning bloggers because it is easy to use, it is web based, and the price is right. It?s free. With that said however, if your intention is to blog professionally and possibly run a large number of blogs with automated content then Blogger is not for you. I have seen Google shut down many blogs because they considered them to be spam. If you want control over your own destiny then you want to use paid web hosting and have your blogs on your own server, or at least a shared server.

Still in the realm of free web hosting you also have a fairly new option from Wordpress who now offers a free web hosting for Wordpress blogs at their .com site as opposed to the .org site where you get the software and plug ins. The problem is that like Google, they are very restrictive with what you can put on your blogs and how you update them.

Another big issue with free web hosting is that you will usually have to display advertising of some sort which "pays? for your web hosting. This is great for the web hosting companies because it gives them tons of virtual real estate out there with their name on it, not so great for you. If you are blogging professionally, and if you are trying to make money for it then you are blogging professionally, you do not want any distractions on your site that leads visitors away from your site unless you are being paid for it like you do when someone clicks on an Adsense ad or affiliate banner.

My recommendation is that you pay for your own hosting because it gives you a wealth of choices, much more storage space, and takes almost all restrictions off of you within reason. There are still some web hosting companies that will not allow you to host gambling or porno blogs but other than that you are pretty open. Paid web hosting is not that expensive. You can get an account that will host as many blogs as most people will want to deal with a few bucks a month. So for the cost of a domain name and your hosting you will probably be around $100 a year. That is a pretty cheap investment for something that enables you to plug into all the ways of earning money on the net.

Choosing Between Free or Paid Web Hosting

2010-06-23T17:31:00.000+05:30

There are a number of things to consider when choosing between a free or paid web hosting service. Setting aside cost for a moment, lets look at some factors that will help you make an informative decision.

The very first thing you must consider is the intent or purpose of your website. Are you looking for a convenient way to share photos of family and friends? Or, are you considering something a little more complex such as adding multiple pages with different content on each? How about a website to promote a product or business?

The purpose of your website will act as a key component in determining which type of web hosting service is best suited for you. For example, if your website will be used primarily for personal postings, your file sizes aren't very large and you don't expect a lot of traffic, you won't require a lot of disk space or bandwidth for your hosting.

If this is the case, a free web hosting service may meet your needs. Free web hosting services are also useful if you're inexperienced in creating web pages. This type of service can provide an excellent opportunity for you to learn and practice your html skills. You could even use a free service as a test site before uploading your web pages to your live website.

Keep in mind that most free web hosting services provide limited features compared to paid web hosting services, but normally offer enough disk space and bandwidth to host a small website. To help offset costs, though, most free providers will place advertisements on your web pages.

With paid hosting, you'll find a variety of available plans to choose from. These plans allow more disk space and bandwidth, and usually include a number of other features such as free domain names, free sub-domains and unlimited email accounts. Some of the more advanced common features are a CGI-Bin, MySQL databases and Microsoft FrontPage extensions.

Compared to free web hosting, you'll also find that the services provided by paid web hosting companies are much more reliable, not to mention offering a higher level of customer support.

Cost wise, there is no charge to register for a free web hosting service, although you may be required to purchase your own domain name. For a basic paid service, you can expect to pay anywhere from $5 to $10 per month - a very small price for the improved service, support and features you receive.

Viewing the Levels of Affordable Web Hosting

2010-06-23T17:30:00.000+05:30

These days, affordable web hosting plans are a dime a dozen. If you have a multitude of companies that all tout the same things, how do you know where to turn for your web hosting needs? Do you break the tie amongst these entire affordable web hosting plans based on price alone? Or, do you delve a bit deeper for bandwidth or growing room? The problem is that web hosting plans have been attainable to the average person for a few years now.

While you now know that affordable web hosting is a reality, the decision to choose one company in particular has become harder than ever. Do not despair however. If you compare plans and they are all similar in scope and price, then you have to determine just one characteristic in which to base your decision.

If your website is for personal use and you do not plan to use it as a money-making enterprise, then you can probably blindfold yourself and just point at an affordable web hosting plan. However, if you plan to use the website for your business, you might want to determine exactly what affordability means in the scheme of what you require now and what you anticipate needing in the future. In other words, you will want a web host that will grow with you, not one that you will outgrow.

Even if your needs are small at the moment, you have that hope that your business will take off in a big way. If this does happen, you will need to revamp your website at some point. Can you upgrade your affordable web hosting plan to something else? If so, will the new plan offer what you need in terms of customer service and technical support? These two aspects are crucial to a growing website which cannot afford any down time.

Another growth factor to look into is your possible increasing need for additional marketing tools and email capacity. Can your affordable web hosting plan morph into a one-stop shop for all your marketing needs? Also, if you depend on your website being up and running with no down time, you will want to re-investigate your web host’s server capacity and whether they offer backup services in case of hardware failure.

When you are first starting out, your affordable web hosting plan may have stipulated that you would be on a shared server, meaning that you shared bandwidth and disk space with other entities on one server. Since not everyone will use their allotted facilities, it all works out. However, if you anticipate that you will outgrow your plan, you will want to choose an affordable web hosting plan which allows for growth into your own dedicated server or virtual private server.

Perhaps the most important factor in choosing an affordable web hosting plan that grows with you is the comfort factor. Do you trust that your company will grow with you and continue to offer the level of service it boasts? If so, can sift through your wants, anticipated growth and comfort level, then you will have narrowed your affordable web hosting plan options down to one.

Webhosting Tips - Picking A Good Web Hosting Company

2010-06-23T17:28:00.002+05:30

Picking a good web hosting company is important to keeping your website open and your costs down.

There are many to choose from, as well as different pricing plans to look over. Depending on the amount of sites that you intend on building, you may want to consider a larger web space in the long run.

You should start with the smallest web space that you can get to test the waters, just incase niche website Internet marketing does not work out for you. You may want to add on later, so make sure that your provider offers that option.

You will want to choose a provider that has a reliable service. If your site is down or takes to long to open up when visitors are trying to get in, it may lead them to click out of your site and move on to the next one. They will also more than likely not visit in the future since they will remember their bad experience.

For this reason, it is probably best to stick with a well known company who you can check reliable references on.

Like anything larger companies have a reputation to uphold, so therefore they have more too loose and generally the bigger the better when it comes to web hosting companies as you will want the support asap shoudl you need it. With smaler companies web hosting support is sometimes lacking or delayed.

There are many small hosting providers that offer space for as low as $.50 to $1 per month, however, you never know what you will be getting and many of them want you to pay for at least a years worth in advance.

You will also want one that has the most affordable hosting. If you can create your own small site or have one made for you, then you will probably be able to find space for as low as $3 to $4 per month.

However, if you need to choose a company that offers a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) website builder, then you will probably end up paying $10 to $15 per month for the smallest amount of space.

But if this is the only way that you can build a site, then it is necessary.

Some web hosting providers may also offer a deal on a yearly URL or other products when you make a web hosting purchase.

Ultimately, whatever web hosting provider you choose will depend on your individual needs and what you can afford.

Hopefully you will be able to snap up a well known provider at a low price who will allow you to upgrade your service as needed.

Web Hosting Solution Helps Businesses Grow

2010-06-23T17:28:00.001+05:30

You can have the greatest store on the planet offering the best products for the best prices, but if no one travels down the road on which your store is located, your business will fail due to lack of customers. The same holds true with an internet business. Regardless of the quality of your site, you will need a web hosting solution to get you noticed on the information highway.

Numerous websites are built from the ground up and those new to the internet often forget a few basics such as the importance of meta tags and their relevance to the page on which they are attached. Many web hosting solution companies will advise that the tags, which are hidden from view but imbedded in the page`s code, are the first glimpse a search engine has as to the relevance of your site to the information requested in a search.

There a couple of important considerations to keep in mind when searching for a hosting company offering web hosting solutions for you or your business. The amount of space provided for your site and the amount of bandwidth available for your visitors. It may be better to have more available than you plan to use to keep your site up and running and for any additional adjustments you make in the future.

Dedicated Servers Reduce Down Time

If the web hosting solution provider you chose continues to have a lot of down time, you might consider switching to one that offers dedicated servers. That is one who sets aside whatever size storage server you contract for strictly for you. This also prevents what is known as crossover with other sites that may be on the same server as yours.

Additionally, dedicated servers also offer the web hosting solution of potential viruses from getting into your files from another site. Since yours will be isolated into its own dedicated memory, nothing can get in unless you put it there. You can either contract for them with a good web hosting company, or buy your own and set them up in your place of business.

Most web hosting solution services offer help in website design and other services that go along with it, such as form building, shopping carts and others and will often give you a good price on the hosting plan if you also purchase the other services being offered. Whatever your choice of services, carefully research all web hosting company plans before making a long-term commitment.

Untangling the Mystery of Web Hosting

2010-06-23T17:27:00.001+05:30

There are a large variety of web hosting services available on the internet. It can be very confusing to decide the best option for you. If you need more features than are provided by free website hosting, then you may consider an upgrade to a free service. Many of the free sites offer more memory space and traffic allotment for a monthly fee. Compare prices between servers before you make a decision.

Once you've done the research and discover that an upgrade simply doesn't meet your needs, you might consider the next step of registering a domain name and getting a bigger web hosting package. There are many sites where you can purchase a domain name. Some sites simply sell you a domain name, but provide no hosting. Other sites provide a domain name for a low fee, and then you can pay per month for hosting. And other sites allow you to buy a domain name and offer free basic hosting, with upgrades available.

If you are using it for a business, you need to decide how much traffic you expect before you can decide what service you will need. It's best to start out small, and then upgrade as needed. Many offer more than one package to choose from.

You can also buy a domain from one site and then transfer hosting to another for the server space. Most of the sites have a transfer fee, so you need to decide if the cheaper domain cost is worth the difference in just registering the domain through the hosting site to begin with. Some of the companies also have affiliate programs, where you can refer people to their hosting service and receive anything from a free domain transfer to cash.

Here are some of the more poplar sites that offer domains and web hosting:

www.godaddy.com - Godaddy.com has very reasonable domain registry and transfer rates. It even has domain names up for auction. They have monthly hosting from around $4.00 a month up to $15.00 a month.

www.register.com - Register.com has a 30-day money back guarantee, and a subscription to Fortune Magazine and 24/7 tech support. It also has bulk domain registration as well as discounts for registering domain names for longer than a year (up to 150 years).

www.networksolutions.com - NetworkSolutions offers many features in addition to domain registration and hosting. It also has things to help enhance your site, like e-commerce, search engine optimization and online marketing for additional monthly fees.

www.doteasy.com - Doteasy offers free basic web hosting with domain registration, with annual renewal of the domain. Additional web space features can be added for monthly fees. Doteasy also has a nice comparison chart for various web hosting services.

E-Commerce Hosting - Factors to Consider

2010-06-23T17:26:00.000+05:30

So you have decided to take the plunge and take your business on the web. This most likely means you will need a reliable hosting service to host your e-Commerce website. What are the key factors that you should consider when considering various web hosting companies?

When considering a web hosting service you should consider at least three factors, how reliable the service actually is, how knowledgeable and prompt are their support staff and what is the actual cost of using this service. Let's break down each factor and really consider this situation in depth.

The reliability of the web hosting service is perhaps the most important to your business as a unreliable service can seriously hamper the reputation of your business. So how do you determine if a host is actually reliable? The first and perhaps the easiest way is to join a public newsgroup of web developers and simply ask them who they use to host their websites.
For instance if you should want to use a ASP/ASP.Net hosting service I would go to asp.net and simply ask who is the most reliable hosting service. Also, searching through these newsgroups will reveal quite a lot of information regarding how knowledgably and helpful the support staff is as well. Simply stay away from hosting providers that have a poor reputation as those service companies most likely are only concerned with separating your money from your wallet and not actually helping you grow your business.

How do you determine which service has the most knowledgeable and helpful staff? This one is again fairly easy to determine. If the staff of the company takes the time to answer questions on public newsgroups and is willing to share their time and knowledge to help out others then this is the company you should utilize. For instance I have noticed that on some public newsgroups or forums many of the questions being answered are from various web hosting services. This not only reinforces their reputation of being really knowledgeable and helpful but it allows the company to get some "free advertising" as well.

Lastly is the cost factor to consider. There are many low cost web hosting providers out there. All you have to do is a search on Google and you will obtain potentially millions of hits on that key term. However, even low cost web hosting services can turn out to be expensive when you consider the various add-ons that you may have to attach to your website to make it truly useful to you. So therefore when considering a web hosting service write down your exact requirements you need to make your website run. Also consider the amount of growth that you anticipate when using this website. A website that may work for you now may not work for you in the near future if your business should really take off and you have not factored that consideration into account. Also take into account any cost of upgrading your service should you outgrow it or you need to move to a high end hosting solution.

When considering a e-Commerce hosting service or any web hosting service these are the key factors to consider before making any purchase. While certainly not an exhaustive listing of everything you need to consider this should get you on the right path to narrow your choices down to at least three or four services.

An Introduction To Web Hosting Affiliate Programs

2010-06-23T17:22:00.000+05:30

The Internet or World Wide Web is one giant interwoven collection of websites. These websites are hosted on servers on computers round the globe, using their hosting capabilities to display each website's files that contain text, HTML, XML, PHP and / or some other source code, images, graphics, audio and video files and more. And those who offer hosting solutions generally offer a variety of business opportunities with plenty of money-making potential like web hosting affiliate programs and business hosting.

Web Hosting Affiliate Program

When a hosting provider sets up a web hosting affiliate program, those who sell the hosting to others through their affiliate link can earn a profit for their sales effort, generally a monthly fee, based upon the percentage of the sale.

For example, you can host your website with a affiliate hosting company and once you sign up, you are able to participate in their affiliate program. Add an affiliate link, a link to the site with your affiliate code embedded in it, so that any sales ring up under your own account ID. Once sales occur, you receive residual income for each month your referral remains a regular paying customer.

Set up your own website about the importance of web hosting and how to go about it, then promote it using your affiliate links in everything. Then you'll have a small business with your web hosting affiliate program, earning you extra dollars every month.

Business Web Hosting

There is more than one type of hosting out there. You can get small 1-page sites and web hosting packages for sites growing up like individual sites, medium-sized and large-sized sites, business web hosting with all the bells and whistles - and about any type of hosting in between. Usually difference in web hosting packages involves the main features like the disk space, bandwidth and monthly price you pay. But equally important to many are the number of domains you can host, sub domains, FTP accounts you can have, whether or not Fantastico modules are present offering a lot of extra tools and scripts for web builders (like Help Desks, Content Management solutions and much more).

In order to choose the best business hosting package for your needs, start by asking for hosting referrals form fellow business associates. Then compare what each has to offer, comparing offerings to what your own business hosting needs are. Then allow some room to grow and choose accordingly, selecting a plan that fits your budget and offers plenty of support.
