Google+, the largest and the most used search engine’s reply to Facebook, is finally out. It is currently in testing mode. But it seems like many masses of people have already got access to it. And Yes I am one of them.

The Google+ project is big G’s social initiative that brings Circles, Sandbar, Sparks, Huddle,Hangouts and more to millions of users of Google. Brief introduction of these feature is written below.

• Circles: think social circles, akin to Facebook’s groups
• Sandbar: a user-unifying toolbar
• Sparks: a search engine for sharing content between users
• Huddle: a group messaging app that allows users to share with certain “Circles”
• Hangouts: group video chatting designed to allow up to 10 users video chat at once

Disable or Change Your Email Notification Settings of Google +

Whenever any of your Google + friends mentions you in a comment, shares a post with you, tags you in a photo or adds you to his Google + circle, you will get an email delivered to the same email address you used to sign up for Google Plus. While some of these notifications may come in extremely handy, overtime you will realize that these notifications are cluttering up your inbox.

Here is how to turn of your email notifications for Google+:

1. Login to your Google Plus account, click your name at the right top position and choose “Account settings”

2. This is the account settings page of Google Plus where you can disable email notifications from Google Plus for some or all of the activity where you participate.

The settings page speaks of itself. You can turn off email notifications for the following settings:

• When friends mentions you in a post.
• When friends shares a post or tags you in a post.
• When friends comments on a post you were tagged in.
• When friends comments on a post after you have commented on it.
• When friends wants you to tag you in a photo or video – they will need permission from you and this permission will be sent as an email notification.
• When friends comments on a photo you were tagged in or where you have commented earlier on.

That pretty much explains how to turn off email notifications for  your Google Plus profile. Please note that these notifications will continue to work in your Google Plus profile, it’s just that you won’t receive them in your email inbox.

Adobe CS5 Hosts File Editing

This hosts file editing method is for WINDOWS 7 only, XP and other windows has different path for hosts file.

Step 1:
Under windows 7 go to this path “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc” there you can see some files. We just need to work with hosts file. First we will copy this file and paste to somewhere else as a backup so if anything goes wrong we can replace that with our edited one.

Step 2:
Now click on your start button search for Notepad, right-click and select Run as Administrator. This should launch notepad with all possible privileges. Now open the hosts file from the directory path: “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc” if no file displayed, you have to display All Files by typing (* in the box. It will show you all files of this directory. Now you can open hosts file from there.
(remember the above path wont show any file if you try it without star number: (* You have to use it to see the All Files)

Step 3:
Now the file is front of you check the last line which is “# ::1 localhost” and paste the below lines right after it.

1. Google Page Speed Online

Google Page Speed online is the web based version of popular Page Speed tool from Google. You can enter any URL in it, and it will show a page ranking score, as well as suggestions for improvement. It nicely divides suggestions in high priority, medium priority, and low priority. Incorporating high priority suggestions would have biggest improvement in performance of your website. YSlow is another popular website performance analysis tool. YSlow installs as a Firefox extension. You need to have Firebug also installed to use YSlow. It does not works with Firebug for Chrome. 3. dynaTrace

dynaTrace is a free website performance measurement and analysis tool that analyzes how a web page loads, and what code can be improved to improve performance. You can install dynaTrace on your PC, and it integrates with IE and Firefox. Then you can run any website, and record its performance analysis report. You can analyze those reports to see the sequence of objects that are loaded, Javascript that might be causing problem, and bench website performance with other websites. dynaTrace is a pretty useful tool that you can start using while you are developing a website, so that you can take care of performance from beginning itself. 4. WebPageTest

All the tools that I mentioned above focus on giving suggestions that can improve your website in general. Once you have done that, you might also want to check if any specific object on your website is becoming bottleneck. And that is where WebPageTest comes handy. It is an online website to check website performance. When you enter URL of any web page, it will show exact sequence in which the objects are downloaded. For each object, it shows time to make initial connection, time to download first byte etc. All this information is shown in a nice graphical format. This helps you in quickly determining which object might be taking a lot of time. While writing this article, I analyzed this website with this tool, and found that there is one image that is taking too long, as it was not being routed through CDN. Just fixing that helped me in further tweaking performance of this website. 5. Pingdom Tools

Pingdom tools was my favorite website performance analysis tool, before I came across WebPageTest. This also works a lot like WebPageTest. You can provide URL of the web page for which you want to analyze performance, and Pingdom tools will show you a waterfall view of the sequence in which objects are loaded. It also shows total number of objects that are downloaded, size of objects, and total time taken for web page to load. This tools comes from the makers of free website uptime monitoring service. 5. Compare your Server Speed To Others

Well i personally use two main online services to compare my web-server speed to others. One from IWebTool.com and the other one is Vertain.com IWebTool is my favorite one.

Unfortunately the saving of tabs on Firefox 4 has been disabled by default. but the good news is, its still there and you just have to enable it from “about:config” There is no need to use add-on or extension for this feature. I don’t know why they have disabled “Save Tabs” from default. but one thing is sure, there are many like me who lost their tabs for first time anyways here is the guide how to enable saving of tabs when you closing Firefox 4.

1. Type about:config at the address bar and hit enter.

2. Click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button

3. At the filter bar, type browser.showQuitWarning and hit enter.

4. You can either double click on it to change the value from false to true, or right click on it and select Toggle.

This change works immediately even without restarting your Firefox, but its better you restart it for once. Now try closing Firefox 4 with multiple tabs opened and you’ll be prompted to save your tabs. That’s all

While searching about it I got another update, sharing with you below.

Firefox 4 saves the session automatically.

You can use “Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session” to get the previous session.

There is also a “Restore Previous Session” button on the default about:home Home page.

Another possibility is to use:

• Tools > Options > General > Startup: “When Firefox Starts”: “Show my windows and tabs from last time”

3: An updated stock Photo Gallery

This is another software update we want to see, and an update to the ‘Photos’ App is inevetable at some point. The current version of the app gives you a folder, which is touchable, and then opens so you have all your photo’s in a grid, which when clicked, allows you to swipe to see the next one.

This makes the iPhone’s gallery app obsolete compared to Android’s 3D Gallery which got mass press once released on the Nexus One.

4: A faster Dual-core processor

The current chip in the iPhone 4 is a very decent processor for a smartphone indeed, in fact, it is the exact same processor as is in the iPad. However, with the latest release of the HTC HD which sports the next generation of Snapdragon processor, the iPhone 5 (if it sported the A4) would be, well, slow on paper – and that isn’t good, because Apple is all about paper.

And so a killer feature in the next iPhone 5 would be a processor clocked at around 1.2 – 1.5 GHz, giving the iPhone 5 a huge edge and allowing developers to release much more processor heavy games.

5: NFC Technology Integration

We want the iPhone 5 to have NFC iWallet Technology, a feature which we covered earlier in the year surrounding the iPhone 5.  This feature is such a high possibility because Benjamin Vigier, the man behind NFC, was employed by Apple earlier in the year; what’s more, the Google Nexus S has NFC built in.

More: Apple took to the stage in San Francisco this morning to reassert its dominance over the tablet market with the iPad 2 — but the real story may be with the company bringing two of its popular iLife components to the new tablet, including iMovie, which promises “very independent filmmaking.” After first debuting on the iPhone 4 last June, iMovie is set to make a splash onto the iPad 2 when it hits stores on Friday, March 11 at 5pm. The $4.99 universal app (which also works on the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touch) claims to help you “turn the HD video you shoot into a masterpiece worth of the red carpet” while taking full advantage of the bigger multitouch display.

3: Google:

Google’s own app is crammed full of web-based gems, click on their GMail app and you’ll get access through a web-page browser. Other treats include voice-operated search, and camera-based search that stretches from barcode reading, to website addresses, logos, and even Sudoku solutions. All this extra functionality comes from the iPad 2’s own cameras

4: Facetime:

Yes, we know it’s right on the iPad when you buy it, and yes, you’ll need a friend with either another iPad 2 or iPhone 4 to make this work, but this is video-chat at its simplest. Expect Skype and lots of pretenders to flood the iPad app section with similar programs in the very near future

5: Garage Band:

Make your own music. Connect your Guitar, or record sounds through the mic, and it all sounds bafflingly good quality- or at least very similar to some TV adverts. There’s also drum loops, and the app can even smooth over your lack of musical knowledge with automated melodies played in key. We’ll get that record deal, one day.

6: Hipstamatic:

Though there may already be complaints over the quality of the front and back-facing cameras, Hipstamatic (running the iPhone version, expanded) is here to ensure some turn out at least marginally artistic. Well worth having, ready for photos in less than perfect conditions.

7: Angry Birds Rio:

And here it is. You can’t mention any tablet/smartphone -based game with out returning the genre’s top striker- Angry Birds. Rio is the very latest version, and you’ll notice it’s looking slightly more polished than previous. Plenty to play through too, with new achievements to unlock, and even monkeys to destroy. They’re the new pigs, don’t you know.

8: Back to the Future:

Pushing the original iPad to its technical limits, playing it on the new tablet shows that BTTF wasn’t really made for the old boy- it was made for its sequel. All the action sequences run super smooth, with hardly any stuttering, something that was all but chronic on the iPad 1. A tap-and-drag adventure, you play Marty McFly from the film series, trying to rescue the doc from somewhere in time.

9: Red laser:

We’d say it’s a better barcode scanner than google’s search (which just searches for numbers) it’s free and compatible with the iPad 2, albeit in a stretch-version of the iPhone app. Search for bargains, and even connect through to ebay.
