August seems like a big month for gaming, with so many notable titles coming out, one of which is “Disney Infinity”. This isn’t like any of the normal games; it’s a game played with toy figures and an infinity base. That’s right, Disney Interactive Studios is launching its own version of Skylanders. The game comes with toy figures and a USB device called the “infinity base”, using these, players must interact with the game and play through a toy set. It certainly seems an interesting idea. It will be releasing on lots of platforms including Wii, Wii U, 3DS, PS3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. Along with the infinity base and figurines, players can customize their characters by attaching power discs to them, giving them perks such as additional health.

The game features two playable modes: Play Set and Toy Box. The play set is a story mode with multiple playable sets and its characters and storylines are specific and cannot be overlapped with other play sets. The toy box is a self-customizable mode where players may put in whatever characters they choose into a custom environment and storyline.

The game seems innovative but the controversy with this game is about the characters that make it to the final product; who makes the cut and who doesn’t? The currently known roster includes:
Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Dash, Violet, Syndrome, Edna “E” Mode, Mirage, Rick Dicker, Jack Sparrow,  Hector Barbossa, Davy Jones, Joshamee Gibbs, Pintel and Ragetti, Tia Dalma, Jack Skellington, James P. Sullivan, Mike Wazowski, Randall Boggs, Toy Story[5], Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Bullseye, Wreck-It Ralph, Vanellope Von Schweetz, Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, Francesco Bernoulli, Holley Shiftwell, Phineas Flynn, Ferb Fletcher, Perry the Platypus

Seeing the list, the first thing that comes to mind is the lack of Disney classics like Mickey Mouse itself. As far as I know, they are not being included, for now at least.

That being said, we also know that Disney has been an owner of Star Wars brand as of October 2012, when it bought the company for $4.05 billion. It’ll be interesting to see if characters from Star Wars will be included. Considering Star Wars’ huge fan following, it wouldn’t be a bad move to roll them in. However, it doesn’t seem they will be a part of the release. So it’s a no-go for Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, for now.

Disney hasn’t announced the final roster and will be releasing characters, perhaps, even after the release of the game itself. Disney states, their top priority is releasing the platform on time. So, just hold on tight and hope Disney gets it right!

With THQ going bankrupt, it was forced to sell all of its studios and assets, and many companies claimed lots of money from THQ.

Double Fine Productions has claimed a bit over half a million dollars from THQ, claiming that it did not give them profits for their games from PlayStation Plus.

Codemasters claims a bit over $1 million dollars  from THQ because of unpaid royalties and a valuable stock of games still in the warehouse.

The company also has to pay to Microsoft for financing and licensing fees for third-party peripherals, which add up to over a million dollars.

The toy company Mattel also seeks $12.75 million for unspecified reasons, and UFC parent company Zuffa claims 1.9 million for unpaid royalties for UFC games.

Former employee, Brian Farrell, claims a large amount  of $6.4 million due to his job termination being “without cause”, while Jason Rubin and Jason Kay both seek $2 million due to employment obligations. Both, Jason Rubin and Jason Kay, claim payments from breaches of duties, priority wages, vacation pay, severance pay and sick leave.

The single biggest amount THQ owes belongs to THQ Holdings Ltd. The UK-based company had loaned $39 million to THQ.

As claims are accepted, the chances of a full payment being given to any party, be it an employee or another company, are difficult as THQ has gathered a mere amount of $80 million by selling of game IPs and assets to other publishers, which will hardly be enough to make payments of over $200 million. The case will be settled at the end of May so no payments are expected until then. The full list of creditors can be found on the KCC website.

Have you always enjoyed blowing your friends’ head off in online shooter games? Well, you can do exactly that with the first-person-shooter “Dust 514”-coming out on PS3. The game is free-to-play; downloadable from the Playstation Store. It is currently in Open Beta mode since January,  but will be fully released on 14th May 2013. It is being developed and published by CCP Games.

The game’s objective is simple; the players must fight for resources and installations on different planets on Eve Universe, while building settlements as they do so. Each team will have a core infantry, a commander and a few player-controlled vehicles. The commander monitors entire combat arenas from aerial towers, destroying the opposing team’s aerial tower will result in a win. The infantry soldiers and vehicles can holster different weapons and equipment on their “dropsuits”. The game also fancies a skill system, where players may choose to specialize in a certain skill, mastering all would be close to impossible.

Dust 514 has a confusing gameplay, with a jumbling interlink between the PC game “Eve Online”, which is also released by CCP. All of the events in Dust 514 take place in the Eve universe, that too, in real time. The combat is correlated between the two games and affects the political situation in Eve Online, with players from Eve Online being able to hire Dust players as mercenaries to take over planets. Players from both games face direct interaction in “Orbital bombardments”, where Eve’s players can assist Dust players in battle.

As Dust 514 is based on Eve Online, it not only has the same science fiction feel to it but also inherits some characteristics of MMORPG within it. It uses same items and weapons from the previous game, as well.

However, there is no single-player campaign in the game, but will additionally feature a “Survival mode” where players will battle it out against mobs of drones.

1. Injustice: Gods Among Us

The fighting game developed by NetherRealm Studios released in April 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC platforms has been much praised for its amazing gameplay and interactive stages. NetherRealm Studios really used its experience in fighting games to create the greatest game for DC Comics. It runs on the Unreal Engine 3 allowing top-notch graphics and visuals. Additionally, the game features great DLCs which add to the overall game appeal. It levels the power of all superheroes in the battle, allowing a fair battle between normal and superhumans.

2. BioShock Infinite

Following the success of BioShock 2, Irrational Games came up with BioShock Infinite   which is set in 1912 with the main protagonist being a former Pinkerton detective named Book DeWitt. It runs on a modified version of the Unreal Engine 3, and features a very interesting plot. It is often compared to the first BioShock game, and some critics believe that it is better. When announced at E3 2011, it won awards for Best Action/Adventure Game, Best Original Game, Best PC Game and the most prestigious of all, Best of Show. Bioshock Infinite was released on March 26, 2013 for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and is yet to be launched for Mac OS X.

3. Crysis 3

The Crysis series has had a habit to always push the envelope when it comes to graphics, and Crysis 3 has kept this element alive. With the help of an incredible CryEngine 3, it has so advanced graphics that it often causes PC meltdowns due to the high system requirements and only the GTX Titan can play it on full resolution. The game offers great multiplayer with a fine campaign mode as well. Crysis 3 was released in February 2013 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, while the Wii U version was cancelled due to the lack of support between Nintendo and EA, Crysis 3’s Publisher.

When it comes to racing-simulation games, Gran Turismo is unmatchable. One of the pioneers of the genre, it has left behind the typical arcade-style racing, and has come up with phenomenal games, with almost filling the gap between reality and the virtual world since 1998. It has won a number of awards and is widely critically acclaimed. Due to this very reason, as per Sony’s official website, it’s going to celebrate Grand Turismo’s 15th anniversary on May 15 at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK.

The event will feature many famous car manufacturers as well as racing car drivers from the GT Academy ― there will be a lot of action.

Everyone is charged to see, what’s next in the Gran Turismo series. As per the website “Yamauchi-san, designer and the man behind Grand Turismo is set to give an update on the game’s future at Silverstone.” People can’t wait to see what he’s going to come up with ― a new game, possibly?

Rumors about “Gran Turismo 6” are floating all over the internet, giving the event a buzz, it was looking for. We already know the game is under production and the developer has confirmed that it will be released for the PS3 platform. However, we still can’t be sure if this is what PolyPhony has planned for the 15th.

Gran Turismo 5 came out in 2010, and having been 3 years, a GT6 does seem due. Sony has released a 48-second teaser for the event, the end of which definitely hints to a new game. We hope the same, as it is something everyone’s waiting for. Watch the trailer here.

Sega has finally announced the release date of the latest edition in Total War series ― set to be released on September 3, 2013.People with pre-orders will receive the Greek States Culture Pack DLC which adds 3 new factions namely: Epirus, Sparta and Athens. All three of them have new units, buildings and traits.

Fans willing to spend a few extra bucks can even get the collector’s edition (limited22, 000 copies only). The collector’s edition features the following goodies:

• The Steelbook case containing the game will be engraved with Roman numerals, representing the serial number of your unique copy of the game.
• The Roman predecessor to backgammon ― Tabula, also features in the collector’s set. It has a 30-piece Tabula set with the board being built on the base of the box.
• Three replica dices are also included, which are identical to the original Roman Tesserae found at the site of Herculaneum.
• Total War Cards is a game made to reflect upon the elements of the original game, and requires skill and luck to win. Likewise, the collector’s edition includes 58 cards and a playing board, which represents the Punic Wars tech-tree.
• It has even got a Canvas Map which shows the 57 provinces in the Rome II campaign.
• The special version also includes a Roman Onager which is easy to assemble and is made of weathered wood as well as steel. The siege catapult measures 26cm x 12cm x 12cm and can be used to throw small objects.

Developers of “Too Human”, Silicon Knights, have recently been reported selling off property, closing offices and letting off employees, all in the fight against “Epic Games”. Silicon Knights owe $4.45 million to the Epic Games studio, and have nearly been destroyed due to the financial crunch.

6 years back, Silicon sued Epic for not being able to “provide a working game engine”, in reference to the Unreal Engine 3. It stated that Epic “sabotaged” the game engine licenses as well as failed to meet the official deadline for its availability. Furthermore, it alleged that when the engine was actually released, it came with insufficient documentation. Later on, Silicon added claims that Epic used licensing fees for development of their own titles and held back vital improvements for Unreal Engine 3.

In reaction, Epic games counter-sued and eventually won the $4.45 million case, stating that Silicon Knights used the engine, without paying its dues. The Knights were charged with copyright infringement, breach of contract and letting out trade secrets, and eventually ordered to destroy all unsold and unshipped copies of games developed using Epic’s engine. Epic games was also allowed to access the servers at Silicon Knight’s offices to ensure if all associated data was completely removed.

Following up, when Silicon was contacted recently, it was revealed that the official phone line was dead. However, the CFO stated, the company was “definitely alive”. Last summer, the company let go most of its employees, out of which some core members gathered to form a new studio called “Precursor Games”. It recently came out that the old company has sold some of its resources to Precursor developers, including chairs, tables and computers. The sold computers instantly alerted the legal representatives at Epic Games, which pushed Silicon to confirm that all the machines had been formatted before selling to the Precursor. The CEO at Precursor confirmed that the two companies had no relation and merely bought a few computers from the studio.

It was confirmed by real estate agents in Ontario that the current office of Silicon was up for a lease and the hype that the company might be shut is growing more than ever. Surprisingly, David Smith confirmed that the firm had not yet filed for bankruptcy.

Silicon has not been at a loss of funding since 2007, and has received about $500,000 from OMDC, $4 million from the federal agencies and $2.5 million from provincial funding. However, all this funding seems to be doing nothing, considering the adverse situation it is facing. Even though the developers may not accept it, it’s on the verge of shutting down.

1.      Battlefield 4

Battlefield 3 released in 2011 was appreciated by gamers all over the world and received great reviews. One problem it had was its single player campaign and that’s what Battlefield 4 aims to improve, the game will use the powerful Frostbite Engine to offer great graphics along with an interesting storyline. It will be released in fall 2013 for the PS3, PC, Xbox 360, and other next-gen consoles. Being developed at EA Digital Illusions CE, it will be published by EA.

2.      GTA V

GTA V, announced after quite a while by Rockstar Games is a new title in its GTA lineup. It takes place in Los Santos, San Andreas including some surrounding areas, and the open world found here  is said to be the “largest ever” found in any game so far. It will feature three main protagonists..

Being developed by Rockstar North, it will be published by Rockstar Games, and will run on the RAGE Engine using the Euphoria Engine for animations. It is scheduled to be released for PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th, 2013. PC and Wii U versions are also under consideration, but have not been officially announced.

3.      Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

The Assassin’s Creed series is back, where Edward Kenway ― the father of Haytham Kenway and grandfather of Connor, will be the main protagonist. The story in the modern day is based on a person hired by Abstergo Entertainment to investigate Desmond Miles’ genetic memories backed up on “the cloud”. Players investigate the ancestral memory of Desmond as Edward Kenway ― a pirate set in the Caribbean.

The game will run on the AnvilNext Engine allowing it to render a massive crowd at once, along with weather cycling and a dynamic game world. Being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, it will be published by Ubisoft for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 platforms in late October. A PlayStation 4 version is also under development; however, any release date has not been announced yet.

Any of the places like a quest hub, a town, or a small village, you are going to be able to find a batch of quests. Sometimes, these quests overlap with each other because they are going to share the same mobs or take over the same areas. This means that you will not have to return to the town.

2. The second tip to leveling up in the wow gold is to make sure that you drop any of your guests if they happen to turn grey. This means, you need to know all of the different colors of the quests that you get. The red quests are going to be almost impossible for you to do. Orange quests are very difficult to perform but they can be done. Yellow is a little bit easier while green is the easiest of all. Bear in mind, you will not be rewarded for the grey quests.

3. The third tip to leveling up in the world of warcraft is to make sure that you do all of your guests before you do the dungeons and you will need to pick up the dungeons as soon as they are available to you. You will get a lot of experience from the dungeons, because of the grouping of mobs. However, you will get most of your experience from the quests, especially when you request gear.

4. The fourth tip to leveling up in the wow gold is to make sure that you work in a circular fashion while making your quests. This means that you need to work on an area when you are there. Therefore, you will need to kill mobs, drop the mobs, gather your items, and so on. Once all of your quests are done, your log should show that it is complete.

5. The fifth tip to leveling up in the world of warcraft is to make sure that you are fully rested before you complete all of your quests. This means, your experience bar should be blue instead of purple. If you do this, then you will get 200% percent more experience for every kill. After making headlines for months, it has been announced officially that the popular mobile game Angry Birds movie is slated to be released on July 1, 2016, with Sony Pictures Entertainment having its distribution rights. It is reported that a number of major studios tried their luck to grab the film’s global rights, but Sony emerged triumphant in getting one of the high profile deals of the year to itself. Its distributor, Rovio Entertainment will be financing, developing and producing Angry Birds movie in 3D, based on the game.

Having David Maisel and John Cohen as its executive producers, who were also behind the making of the “Iron Man” and “Despicable Me”, will further enhance the world within the game in the Angry Birds movie, getting inspiration from its latest installment “Angry Birds Toons”, released earlier this year.

Sony Picture Entertainment’s Chairman and CEO, Michael Lynton, said, “Sony impressed us with their great attitude, determination, and professionalism. They convinced us that we have found the right partners and team to help us market and distribute our first motion picture. Michael, Amy, Jeff Blake, Sony’s marketing and distribution head, and their teams will be the best possible collaborators as we get set to take our franchise to the next level.”

Commenting on the announcement David Maisel and John Cohen said, “We are very excited to join with Sony Pictures in presenting this movie to the world in 2016 and we will have many more announcements as we begin production in the coming months.”
