Windows 11 Release Build Finally Rolls Out!

Microsoft introduced their upcoming new Windows version "Windows 11" on June 24, 2021. They also launched some insider and dev preview builds. On earlier of these builds, nothing many differences could be observed at that time as it was under development. But Microsoft gradually made massive changes to this operating system. And finally, just after 3 months, the first release build Windows 11 has been rolled out on the 5th of October, 2021. This build (21H2) is available in eleven varients- Windows 11 Home, Windows 11 Home N, Windows 11 Home Single Language, Windows 11 Education, Windows 11 Education N, Windows 11 Pro, Windows 11 Pro N, Windows 11 Pro Education, Windows 11 Pro Education N, Windows 11 Pro for Workstations, and Windows 11 Pro N for Workstations.

Features

Windows 11 comes with a lot of changes, improvements, and features. The major reason people are switching from Windows 10 to Windows 11 is its user interface and experience. Windows 11 introduces a cool UI with new icons, effects, and start menu that is suitable for almost everyone. The taskbar elements moved to the center is a plus point to attract macOS users to switch to Windows. Adding fluent effect to maximum apps has also attracted people. Windows 11 is created targeting regular users and businessmen. It feels more smooth and comfortable.

Another major reason people should switch is security. Microsoft has paid much heed and concerns to defend users from malicious attacks. Also, your PC must TPM 2.0 to install Windows 11. The new Windows is requiring this to protect encryption keys and some sensitive data including user credentials.

When Android apps would come is not confirmed yet. Hopefully, some of the apps have already come to the Microsoft Store, including TikTok and Reddit.

Most of the apps have been redesigned in Windows 11, even the UI of some of the most traditional and non-updating apps like Snipping Tool or Paint has been changed at all. Also, Microsoft Store, Photos, Movies and TV, Paints, Notepad, Settings, and a bunch of other apps have been repolished.

How to get Windows 11

To get Windows 11, you have to make sure that your PC can run Windows 11 first. If you know the specifications of your PC, you can have a look at the Windows 11 requirements page to ensure your PC's compatibility with the requirements. The easier way to check the compatibility is to Download Windows PC Health Check application. After installing and opening the application, you would notice a banner at the top of the application that would suggest you to check your PC's compatibility for Windows 11. Just click over Check now and it will show up the result within a second that whether it is compatible or not. Your PC must support UEFI for Windows 11. Also, make sure that your current Windows is running from UEFI rather than Legacy BIOS. Although having a compatible PC, some users might face issues on the Windows PC Health Check application that would say that Secure Boot is not supported or TPM is not available. In that case, you need to go to the BIOS settings and manually enable Secure Boot and TPM.

Once you are good to go, open Settings on your Windows 10, then go to Update & Security > Windows Update. You would see a free Windows 11 upgrade suggestion banner right at the top. Click Download and Install. That's pretty much it! If you cannot see that, make sure you have an active internet connection and your current Windows is activated. You might need to hit the Check for updates button once if that is not showing up.

However, if you are running another Windows version that is not Windows 10, you need to manually download and install Windows 11. Go to the Windows 11 Download page. You'll get here multiple options to install Windows 11. You can either download Windows 11 assistant (recommended) that will help you to install Windows 11 easily or you can download Media Creation Tool and make a bootable Windows 11 media. Alternatively, you can direct download the Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) file. Unlikely Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, Windows 11 doesn't support PCs with 32 bit (x86) architecture. So, there is only one option for downloading (64 bit).

Issues

Windows 11 is stable enough, but there are a few bugs like Windows 10. First of all, you will face compatibility issues with Oracle VirtualBox when Hyper-V or Windows Hypervisor is installed. You might not be able to run virtual machines (VMs) and would receive an error on starting it. This problem remained the same as it was in insider builds. Also, there are compatibility issues with some Intel “Killer” and “SmartByte” networking software that can slow down the loading speed of some web pages. Also, Cốc Cốc browser might not be able to open or run properly and would show some errors in some cases. These are the most common issues till now. You can check out to know more about the issues. Along with these, there is an imbalance of white and dark mode on some apps, and dragging and dropping through the taskbar is not working. Windows 10 Insider Preview 21327 May Become "Horrible" for Your PC

Microsoft has released Build 21327 to the Dev channel about a week ago bringing some brand new features including an updated look of news and interests at the taskbar, new icons, website-pinning (to taskbar), and a couple of other things. But the update comes with some critical issues that may go against your computer.

Build 21327.1000 (rs_prerelease) may hang low-end and mid-range PCs. On the launch of more than two applications, it starts hanging. In our case, we launched two tabs of File Explorer and Google Chrome with a single tab which resulted in the problem though the PC can handle 4-5 tabs of chrome and about 5 opened applications at the same time. And the most shocking matter is that the problem still exists after all the applications closed. We checked the Task Manager whether any application consuming memory. But no application was consuming heavy memory. We signed out and again signed in. This time, the problem reduced a little, but still freezing often. So, the only way was to restart the PC to be normal. Along with the hanging, the cursor was also freezing often. It happened twice or thrice. We also reported a freezing issue for a long time than usual (we had to restart by the CPU) and suddenly power off issue once.

The most dangerous thing is that whenever trying to open related settings (i.e. taskbar settings or sound settings) from the taskbar, Settings closes immediately as soon as it appears (as shown on the video below). It started after installing Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10 Version Next (KB5001030).

Updating the build to 21327.1010 (KB5001277), the freezing problem was reduced. On the contrary, it has slowed down processing speed. As well as, the immediate closing problem did not resolve till now.

Most of the gamers probably face issues like getting only 60Hz refresh rate on even good monitors and freezing issues while making power management if Xbox controller is connected. Wi-Fi Direct (Recommended)

You shouldn't worry about your privacy using third-party sharing apps as you already have a built-in great option for transferring files in your phone called "Wi-Fi Direct". It is also known as P2P (peer-to-peer). All the Android devices of Jellybean version (4.1) or later comes with this feature.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Wi-Fi Direct

Wi-Fi Direct supports WPA2 encryption. For this reason, it's more secure. The average transfer speed of Wi-Fi Direct is up to 250Mbps (31.5 MB/s). However, it mostly depends on the Wi-Fi bandwidth your phone is using which is much satisfactory. Another good point of Wi-Fi Direct is-you can transfer files within up to 100-200 meters. Wi-Fi Direct is the best choice for transferring large files in a short time. The disadvantage of Wi-Fi Direct is that it results in more power consumption.

How to Transfer with Wi-Fi Direct

On the receiver device, go to Wi-Fi option from Settings. At first, turn Wi-Fi on. Then tap the three dots icon (at top-right). You may find Wi-Fi Direct there. Tap it and wait. For the sender device, turn Wi-Fi on first. Then tap the share option from wherever you want to share files and choose Wi-Fi Direct. If you didn't turn on Wi-Fi before, you will receive a dialogue asking for turning it on. After turning Wi-Fi on, you will see the available nearby devices. Tap on the receiver's device name. On the receiver device, a connection request will appear for confirmation with a time limit in seconds to confirm within the limited time. Accept the request and it will start transferring.

Note: Although Wi-Fi Direct exists for receiving, Samsung has replaced "Wi-Fi Direct" with "Quick Share" for sending files on One UI 3.0 which uses Wi-Fi Direct implicitly. But there must have "Quick Share" option on the receiver device too for receiving files, Wi-Fi Direct won't work to receive files sent via Quick Share. It is pretty disappointing.

Nearby Share

If your device is running Android 6 (Marshmallow) or above, then it's eligible for using Nearby Share. Nearby Share uses Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location together. We don't recommend Nearby Share for transferring large files but it's quite better for transferring small files.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Nearby Share

Along with mobile data or Wi-Fi, Nearby Share can be accessed offline. The plus point is that you can control your visibility for other devices marking some or all of your contacts or staying invisible to others until you turn Nearby Share on. But as it uses both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, it doesn't provide a faster speed as anyone would expect. The average transfer speed is almost 2-3MB/s.

How to Transfer with Nearby Share

To start transferring with Nearby Share for the first time, you have to go through a quick setup process. For this, go to Settings>Google>Device Connections>Nearby Share. Then set up your device name and visibility. That's it. Alternatively, if you turn Nearby Share on from quick settings for the first time, it will ask you to configure it. It should be done for both devices (sender and receiver). Both devices will be visible to nearby devices in this way. To transfer using Nearby Share, turn Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Location, and Nearby Share on from quick settings on both devices. On the receiver device, a notification may be shown saying Device nearby is sharing. Tap on the notification to open nearby sharing panel. Then choose Nearby Share icon from sharing options after selecting files you want to share from the sender device. If you didn't toggle Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location on before, you will see a prompt to turn them on. Tap Turn on for turn on at once. On the sender device, you will see the receiver device name with an icon. As soon as you tap on it, a prompt will be shown on the receiver device to accept the files. Tap Accept and sharing will be started.

Note: For some devices, Nearby Share may not be shown on quick settings. In this case, turn on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Location. If you get a notification saying that "Device nearby is sharing", tap it. That's pretty much it.

Sharing through A Cable Connection

If there is an OTG (On-The-Go) support to at least one of the two devices, you can easily transfer files through a wired connection between the two phones. Though it is quite unusual, it can be much convenient.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Sharing through A Cable

Although the transfer speed depends on the hardware of your device and the USB type, you can get almost an average of 10-20MB/s or even more transfer speed. But this type of connection may fail often for moving or shaking device or cable. Besides, this method will consume the host device's battery faster and charge the client device. We mark it neutral as whether it is helpful or not depends on you.

How to Transfer through A Cable Connection?

For transferring by this method, either you need a cable of male USB on both sides according to the ports of two devices (e.g. USB-C to USB-C, USB-C to Micro USB, etc) or a data cable (matched with client device's port) and an OTG (matched with host device's port). The first thing you have to do is to connect the two devices appropriately. Connect the OTG with the host device and connect the data cable with the OTG. At last, connect the male USB of the data cable with the female port of the client device. The host is the device that you connect OTG to and the client is the device that you connect with the data cable. Don't worry about this matter. Any of the two devices can be used as host (if both have OTG support). Otherwise, connect OTG with the device that has OTG support if only one of the two is supported. Once the devices are successfully connected, you may get a prompt on the receiver device asking for allowing transferring files. Tap Allow. If you don't see the dialogue box, go to the notification panel. You will get an MTP Host notification by Android System. Tap it and choose what to configure USB settings. You may see "Open with" dialogue box on the host device to access the client device's files. You can open it with the device's default Downloads app or any third-party file managing app. You would be able to copy files from your phone to the receiver phone or from the receiver phone to your phone.

Turn On Airplane Mode While Charging

One of the most effective ways to charge your phone faster is to switch your phone to airplane mode. Airplane mode turns off calling, texting, mobile data, Wi-fi and Bluetooth. But sleep mode consumes power. So, switch your PC straight to hibernate mode instead of sleep mode. Hibernate saves what you did and it fully turns off your PC. So it saves power. When you will power on your PC, you can continue from actually where you left off.

Adjust Icon Size of A Directory As You Want to See

To increase or decrease the size of icons of a specific directory, we simply right-click in the blank area of that directory and make it large, medium, or small from the view option. But this method doesn't offer us the actual size that we want to see. So, to adjust icon size, simply hold the Ctrl key from the keyboard and move scroll up or down from the mouse to increase or decrease and change it to how you like to see it.

Scroll Faster

How to Disable Off-Facebook Activity?

If you are using the Facebook app or mobile version of Facebook from any browser, follow these instructions:

First of all, go to more options (click on the icon of 3 parallel lines from the top right).
Press Settings & Privacy. For the web version, it is listed as Settings only.
scroll down and press Off-Facebook activity.
Press More Options.
Hit Manage Future Activity.
It will take you to a page saying how they use your off-Facebook activity. Press the Manage Future Activity button from the bottom.
Switch Future off-Facebook Activity off. That's it.

If you are using Facebook from PC, follow this method:

Click on the down arrow icon from the very top right of the page.
Click Settings and Privacy.
Then click Settings.
From the options on the left, click Your Facebook Information.
Click Off-Facebook Activity.
From the options on the right, click on More options. Some more options will appear there.
Click Manage Future Activity.
A popup window will appear. Click Manage Future Activity at the bottom right of the window.
Then switch Future off-Facebook activity off. Done!

How to Clear Off-Facebook Activity History

If you've disabled your future off-Facebook activity, your interactions won't be shared anymore. But your previous activities are still saved to Facebook. Follow these instructions to clear your off-Facebook history.

For Your Mobile Device:

Go to the Off-Facebook Activity page as the same method.
Press Clear History.
It will take you to a page. Press the Clear history button from tge bottom. You're done.

For your PC:

In the same way, go to the Off-Facebook Activity option.
From the options on the right, click Clear History.

How to Identify Partition Style of Your Hard Disk (MBR or GPT) from Windows

When trying to install any system, you may have to know what the partition style of your hard disk is. Is it MBR (Master Boot Record) or GPT (GUID Partition Table)? Well, you can identify it from your Windows without any third-party application within a few seconds. Let's grab it.

How to Identify?

1. First of all, open run from start or pressing Win+R from your keyboard. In the box, type diskmgmt.msc and hit enter. Alternatively, you can press Win+X and click on Disk Management from the list.

2. The Disk Management window will open. Here, you will see a box containing disk number (i.e. Disk 0) at the left. Right-click the box and go to the Properties.

3. In the Properties window, go to the Volumes tab.

4. You will see an index named Partition Style indicating what your hard disk's partition style is. For my first disk, it is showing GUID Partition Table (GPT).

In the case of my second disk, it is showing Master Boot Record (MBR).

In this way, you can easily identify the partition style of your hard disk.

How to Delete A Windows from Another Windows in Multiboot

Tired of running two windows? Then you can simply delete one by a little trick within a moment.

Warning: This method will completely remove the system of the Windows you want to delete. So, you will lose access to the installed applications and any other things of that Windows. But thankfully, any user files or other files of the hard drive where Windows installed will not be erased.

How to Delete A Windows?

1. At first, boot to the Windows you want to keep.

2. Go to Start and search for System Configuration. Alternatively, you can open run (Shortcut: Win+R) and type msconfig and then click OK.

3. In the system configuration window, go to the Boot tab.

4. In the Boot tab, select the Windows you want to delete. In my case, Windows 10 is my current Windows and I want to delete Windows 8.1. So, I am clicking on Windows 8.1.

5. Now click Delete.

6. After that, click OK at the bottom.

7. Now you will notice a popup dialogue box like below. We recommend clicking. Restart. Or you can click Exit without restart to restart manually later.

After restarting, your second Windows will be deleted permanently.
